Cheap drink specials and bada$$ bartenders. Â Never eaten here but I don't hold that against them. Â It's a place we frequent because it's close to home and it's easy on the wallet. Â They have beer pong, sometimes live music, pool, darts, and the people watching is always a good time.
Review Source:Drink specials are unbeatable!! Yummy food, super nice NEW staff! I highly recommend this place! The owner is there quite a bit (I saw him two out of my three visits), he's super nice, and funny. He makes you feel very comfortable and welcome, his name is Ron. (Hi Ron, if you are reading this!) ;) Tons of tv's, lots of games on, SKEE BALL! Pool! My third time here and won't be the last!! Fun!! FULL BAR :)
Review Source:Went there for Sunday day football. The deco itself is underwhelming, no one to greet us at the door, the draft specials were ok, the appetizer specials were better. Ordered a chefs salad, must have been the first in a while, they were out of lettuce and had to run to the store, when it finally came out it had tomatoes on it which I asked to remove and the ham tasted spoiled. They had about 20 TVs but 5 were blacked out due to an outage. The big tv has a wave in it that made watching football on it terrible. The staff was very friendly but only two girls working. This is not a place designed for high traffic/ high volume. I'll stick with Buffalo Wild Wings.
Review Source:6:45pm on a Tuesday. Went in to get a quick bite for dinner. Read bad reviews on here but most recent was 11 months ago so thought I would check it out to see if it improved. Half price appetizers from 5-7pm (they open at 5) Had chips, queso and salsa. The chips were thick cut and appeared to be freshly fried in house. Expecting canned cheese I was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty good and the fact that it was 2.79 it was even better.
For dinner I had cheese burger with onion rings and my friend ordered beef fajita nachos. Again not expecting much from reading previous reviews but 15 minutes later, our food was delivered. My burger was probably a little less than half pound handmade burger patty loaded with ice cold iceburg lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. The burger had great flame grilled flavor without being over salted, which most places do. I want to taste the meat not salt.
The onion rings were freshly breaded with wonderful peppered flour with about 10 on the plate.
My friend's nachos were a large pile of chips with two kinds of cheese and topped with generous pile of grilled cubed skirt steak that had decent flavor. It came with a side of sour cream, jalapenos and salsa.
We were the 3rd and 4th guest in the entire place so I would expect the service to be fantastic. The only wait staff person was the bartender, who did well. The only things that bothered me keeping it from getting 5 stars.
1. Our server, the bartender, stepped out the front door and stood in the patio dining area to take a smoke break. That just looks tacky to me. I'm sure going out the back door would be more appropriate and professional.
2. The lack of guests tells me that this visit is not a typical experience OR they are in desperate need of some local marketing. Either way, it's a SPORTS BAR which should be a great place for happy hour instead of coming in to see 4 people total.
Other than those small flaws, it was a great dinner at a good price.
We asked about live bands, which the bartender said they have every Friday and Saturday of a couple different genres.
They also have UFC so that might be a good crowd to check out.
just paid $9.00 for a 1 ounce shot at the arena Poured with a jigger so most likely less than an ounce............ .. at the loon bar off lemon same shot would have been $8.50 for 2.5 ounce shot. Hmmm loon $8.50 or Arena $22.50 for the same amount.. Â
.... Â Â Â Â
You have to be kidding me.. food sucks unless you like cheap queso poured on everything
Owner needs to get a clue.. Â will not go back.....
This place is a nightmare ... horrible food, overpriced drinks, uncaring ownership. Â Besides that this thing's tight! :) Â We came in after buying a gift certificate on http://Restaurant.com, which we displayed on our table when we sat down. Â Only when the check arrived a few hours later were we told that "the new owner" wasn't accepting the gift certificate - even though I had purchased it earlier that same day. Â He blamed it on http://Restaurant.com, but at the same time wouldn't take the time to come over to our table and personally apologize. Â There are SO MANY other alternatives to a poorly run establishment like this -- which is a shame because the location and multiple TV screens should combine for a great gathering point. Â But DON'T DO IT. Â Run, don't walk, as far away as possible from Arena Sports Bar & Grill. Â It's a disaster!
Review Source:I went into this very open minded considering the circumstances. Â I set the bar pretty low in my mind. Â Arena is located in a strip center near a Korean Nail Spa and suburban pool supply store. Â The interior is large and spacious featuring high bar tables and stools. Â The decor has a sports bar feel. Â At the back center of the space is a bar with stools on three sides. Â A pool table, Golden Tee and flat screen TVs tuned to sports round out your entertainment options. Â The bar features a full selection of liquor and about 10 beer taps featuring your typical selection of domestics and a few imports. Â Being a Friday afternoon kicking off a three day holiday weekend I expected it to be fairly crowded as was not the case. That was the first red flag. Â After a couple of beers I decided to go for broke and try one of their appetizers to get a basic sense of the competence of their bar fare on the menu. Â Again, I set the bar very low: cheese fries. Â How could you go wrong with such a simple dish? Â Out comes a smallish square plate with approximately 20 - 25 fries on it covered in nacho cheese. Â And it's $6.95 on the menu. Â The food cost couldn't have been more than 40 cents for this plate. Â It was so basic and so disappointing both in quality and portion size that I dared not venture any further into the menu. Â In summation, Arena is a place to grab a beer on the way home after work if it's close to your house. Â Do not go out of your way to try this establishment. Â And stay away from the menu.
Review Source:I keep going back to Arena for the cheap drinks!! Also worth mentioning, the menu has been updated and is now more typical of an American sports bar (but you can still get a gyro :) ), which is why I am adding another star to my review. Thanks for listening guys!
We went during the world series and there were tons of Texas baseball fans in there! It was nice to see the place busy! We first sat at a table, but after we'd been there for 10 minutes and the waitress had hardly given us a "I'll be right with you", we moved to the bar. No problems with the service at the bar, ever.
I got the "beef fajita" nachos and I wouldn't recommend them. Paper thin tortilla chips first topped with stadium style nacho cheese sauce, then real cheese, all the toppings, and "beef fajita" meat which I'm convinced was just gyro meat - it didn't taste like fajita meat at all. The naco cheese sauce in addition to the real cheese seemed like a good idea at first, but it made the thin chips go soggy and acted as a lubricant between the chip and the real cheese, leaving all the toppings on my plate instead of on the chip... Just a mess. Oh well, going to try a burger next time!!
I really wanted to like this place, but it didnt workout like that. Went last night, not many people there on a Friday night ( which should have been a sign), but I decided to take my chances. Here is what I went away with....
1. Service was the worst I have ever experianced anywhere. Â Since they were not crowded (more empty then not), and waitstaff was not busy, I dont know why it took so long to get served.
2. Ordered a Margarita that they either forgot to put taquila in, or they only put a teaspoon in, but was so weak, I couldnt tell. YUK
3. Food? Â Had a burger and onion rings. Â Burger was fresh, but without taste for some reason. The onion rings were really good...... all 5 of them. Woo Hoo! Â (For the love of God, dont overserve your customers)
4. After sitting for over an hour, my waitress finally come back to ask if I wanted anything else to drink. I politely asked for a glass of tea, which she returned with promptly. (But it took an hour to get her to come back to the table)
5. Dinner and drinks came to 25.25. I gave the waitress a 50.00, and she brought back 24.00. Â 75 cents is not alot, but I guess she didnt know how change really works.
If this place last 6 months, I will be amazed.
A bar in Carrollton. Â Not bad. Â Not great either.
All of the food that I've had there is only okay. Â Some things are better than others.
I think the best thing I've had here was the quesadillas. Â I believe they have NFL Sunday Ticket, if your team doesn't have a game being aired in the local market.
They are (or at least were) listed on http://restaurant.com. Â So, if you're going to try this out for the first time, http://restaurant.com may not be a bad bet.
I have tried this place a few times since it opened. The service has definitely improved from the early days, and the waitresses are more attractive (not that it matters). The bizarre uniforms have been replaced with more traditional black shorts and tank tops. I usually go for an early dinner before the bar crowd arrives. I was hoping for a good burger and onion ring staple. The burgers are good, but the onion rings inconsistent. They are very good on one visit, then the next time they are using some kind of crap like you get at Burger King. What a shame. I have had 2 "good" experiences and 2 "bad" ones with the o'rings. My hunt for good onion rings in Carrollton continues.
Review Source:Sucks. Thats as nice as I can get about this place. First the service blew. The food tasted like cardboard. I didnt think you could mess up a cheesesteak sandwich. I was wrong. Meat was over done. dried out and almost burnt and they still served me this crap. We were there, at a sports bar for a football game, go and figure, and they had a live band playing. No one was listening to them, they tired to watch the game. Which was impossible over their horrible singing. But this place is good if you are like 45 to 55. that was the age group there. Might be a good place to pick up some cougars. Their beer selection is limited but they have more than just the standard american lagers.
Review Source:This is a brand new bar in Carrollton. I didn't exactly have high hopes for this bar but at the very least I thought it might be a good dive bar close to home. First off I got carded multiple times. This was particularly annoying because every time I put my ID away, I had to dig it back out. There was a band playing. It was pretty fun and there was plenty of people dancing totally out of rhythm. However, the service here was TERRIBLE!!! My boyfriend and I were waiting for almost 30 minutes for the waitress to bring us a second round. After 30 minutes I decided to go find the waitress and ask her to please come to our table when she was finished. I then watched her walk around and take orders and serve two other tables. I was fuming at this point. When she finally made it over to our table I told her we would just like to close out. She turns around, prints the ticket, and comes back. She puts the receipt on the table and turns around to leave and I say "Wait, wait!" and try to hand her my credit card. Despite my asking her to wait, she walks away anyways. The bill was only 6.50 since she would never bring us a second round of drinks. I was so upset by her attitude, I just put down the 7 dollars cash I had left.
I was so bummed out be the horrible service of this bar. Its right by my apartment and I was hoping to make this my new home bar. Unfortunately after getting carded so many times then having the most unprofessional waitress of all time, I will never be returning. This bar only had about 30 people in it at 11:30pm on a Friday and they couldn't seem to keep up with the service. This bar won't last long without major staff training. Don't waste your time or money at this place.
