We ALWAYS enjoys our feasts at Atlantic Seafood. Â The whiting, shrimp, scallops are great. Â My daughter really enjoys the crab cakes. Â We love this restaurant. Â I consistently get the Mac/Cheese and Collards. Â My husband enjoys the mashed potatoes and lo mien. Â My daughter likes the greens and the sweet corn. Â We always have leftovers for the lunch the next day.
They've revamped and have new employees and management. Â The people are friendlier than before.
OK, so I really wanna give this place 3 stars only for "trying" so hard. I mean seriously; I have been living in this area for over 20 years and have seen this location go through different managements like us ladies change panties. Off that note here goes my review...
Last time I went to this place (over 2 years ago) it was run down, dirty, just ugh not good at all and I left and never looked back UNTIL...
The other day I am out with my mom and she decides she wants to try this place out. I decided what the heck, why not. Besides it's lit up like a Christmas Tree and looks all bright with the flags flying around outside and what not so anywho we get there, park, go in and voila I am met with cleanliness. It had a lot of space and the food was setup in the display case very nicely. Lots of tables for you to sit and eat. The staff was helpful, personalities were...ok.
They have snow crab legs for like $9 lb ,shrimp was the same, slices of cake and pie range around $4/$5 a piece, croacker, flounder, trout, etc. dinner/sandwiches, BBQ/Plain baked chicken, mac-n-cheese, green beans, kale/collard greens, pig feet, chitterlings...mmm hmm yep you just read those last 2 things right LOL OH! and they had salmon and a few other things I but I'm sure you get the point. The Salmon looked good. It was $9 a piece but I didn't get it. The fried chicken wings looked they were on steroids but still looked good
We got croacker fish dinners, BBQ and Plain Chicken, mac-n cheese, kale and collard greens, homefries, candied yams and cabbage. Out of everything I enjoyed the cabbage the most...the fried fish was just ok to me. I am a big fried fish, crab, shrimp, seafood eater so I am very picky about my fish. I could tell that parts of the fish was freezer burnt, the seasoning was ok but the fish wasn't all that fresh. The mac-n-cheese IS NOT "SOUL FOOD Style" Mac and Cheese it is more like typical plain mac n cheese you would find in a Chinese restaurant with a little extra cheese...that is the best way I can describe it. The greens were so so...I wouldn't order it again. The kids enjoyed the BBQ/Plain chicken and the mac-n-cheese.
One thing I didn't like about this place was that they didn't have any fish out on display so you could see what they were going to cook for you. I like to see my fish, check the eyes make sure they are clear so I'll know they are fresh and not just coming out of a freezer (which is what my fish tasted like). It was sad because I wanted to like the fish because the seasoning was good but couldn't because the fish wasn't fresh.
If I were to go back to this place it would more than likely be for the crab legs and shrimp only because they have decent prices. Chicken for the kids because they seemed to have enjoyed it. Request to see the fish before ordering it.
Was on the East Coast for Pres. Obama's 2013 inauguration one of the things on my agenda was to go to a Soul food restaurant. I figured there was better Soul food on the east coast. Oh Lord what was I thinking. This place had the worst food AND being from California I stuck out like a sore thumb. Overcooked string beans, tough fried chicken and Kraft type mac n' cheese. Really? It should be baked with lots of cheese and butter. Do not go here or if you do avoid things mentioned above!!
Review Source:This food is terrible for the price and the customer service could use a bit of improvement. I found this place in my new neighborhood and decided to try it out - what a grave mistake. I ordered a whiting fish dinner with mac & cheese and hushpuppies. The only thing edible was the fish. The mac & cheese was so disgusting and the hushpuppies were burnt and dry - totally not tasty. I was surprised to see that there were so many people patronizing this culinary wasteland. What's more disgusting is that this is yet another food business run by non-Black people selling what they perceive to be Black food in a predominantly Black neighborhood. This restaurant just about sums up all the problems I have with food business in PG County. These people know nothing about making good cuisine yet have set up shop to sell unknowing people nasty food. I will never return to Mid-Atlantic and I implore you to seek meals elsewhere. We have to show the county's representatives that we won't stand for subpar businesses and call on them to bring into our communities the quality food you find easily in Montgomery and Anne Arundel counties. I'm very disappointed I wasted money and time here.
Review Source:They're under new management so it's now called Mid-Atlantic Seafood and a lot of good changes have been made! The place is clean and very bright, it looks like a decent self-service cafeteria type of sit down place, similar to the kind they have in D.C..
Prices are decent, most meals cost about $8-10. The food is good and the portions are really big so you'll have enough for two or three meals depending on how much you eat. They have a really large menu, you could spend 10-15 minutes studying the options. The menu includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a lot of desserts and even appetizers, it would be nearly impossible to not find something you want on that menu...unless maybe you are vegan.
The first time my mom got food for us, she got a whiting dinner for me with macaroni and cheese and yams, and she got a whiting sandwich with a side of hush puppies. Everything tasted good and fresh.
This time I got the 7 jumbo shrimp (and they are huge!) meal with macaroni and cheese and yams (creature of habit) and 3 BBQ wings with candied apples and cole slaw for my mom, everything is good. We also got a side salad which looks like a regular meal and two desserts, sweet potato pie and chocolate cake-both good
Customer service is good and they are friendly BUT please make sure you check your order, my mom didn't get bread with her sandwich last time, just two pieces of fish. This time when I went, I got my order and was almost out of the door before realizing I didn't have my salad or soda. I knocked one star off because of that. They were nice enough to give my 5 year old son a bag of chips, he was happy about that!
I'll be back for sure!
If you like dingy, you'll love Mid Atlantic. If you like poorly seasoned collard greens, under cooked BBQ chicken wings and bland mac and cheese, you'll absolutely delight in Mid Atlantic Seafood. If you like having your server ask you if you want bread and not bringing it to your table, you'll love Mid Atlantic.
I hope you are getting the picture, because I have many more of these delightful "if-then" statements. My wife, daughter and I went to this restaurant one Saturday afternoon and the experience was poor.
Between the three of us, we tasted their crab cake sandwich, collard greens, chow mien, mac and cheese, BBQ chicken wings, baked chicken and broccoli and cheese. All of it was terrible. So much so, that we threw all of it away. We each took one bite of our own meal and the meal of the others and we unanimously agreed that everything was inedible.
We are not food snobs. My daughter and I eat Mickey D's like its gourmet fast food. My wife never turns away Boca dogs and burgers. So, when we say "Ewww!" you can take it on authority that the food is sub-par.
Sincerely,
