Good to see a Mexican restaurant serving good Mexican food and doing well. Especially in a town where the Mexican or Mexican-American census is about 0.01% at best. It's in a strip mall so the place is not fancy but it does add to it authenticity because all good ethic restaurants are your basic "hole in the wall". Just be careful with the front door because it slams when it closes, thus it can slam on your back.
I ordered the Enchiladas Especial of chicken; it comes with sour cream and guacamole in a green salsa (you can get it in red too). The tortillas were a bit dry but the chicken was moist and flavorful. The beans tasted fresh and so did the little salad that adorns the plate. Others in our party had the steak fajitas that looked really good. The Chef/Owner cooks the food and comes out to talk to the clientele, really nice young guy. I know he is Mexican because of his Spanish I heard him speak to his employee in the kitchen.
They have a great selection of Mexican beers and they make different  sizes of Margaritas, from small 8oz all the way up to 32oz. They serve them frozen or on the rocks.
I will be back here for sure, great place in Springfield Ill.
Aztca was quite good and is among the better Springfield area Mexican restaurants, if not the best. Â Our group had a variety of sliced steak, burrito, taco salad, and cheese quesadilla dishes. Â One person had a Margarita which he said was tasty. Â It's hard to find a good Mexican restaurant, even in the Chicago area where are a multitude of Mexican-Americans. Â The good ones have a depth and richness to the seasonings (more than just pepper!) that are rare. Â The Aztca does not have this level of cookery, but all of our meals were well prepared and tastier than the average. Â It's a comfortable place and the servers were helpful and attentive. Â Hard to beat!
