Backdoor Cafe

Good southern comfort food a short distance from I-95. Nice change from fast food. Inside looks a bit like an old thrift store with items on the shelves but the food was decent and the iced tea was sweet.

So, I'm in a town I know nothing about, starving, and it is 2pm. There is nothing around me and GPS doesn't pick up a place for some grub for at least 17 miles. I start my search to find something to fill my tummy before it gets a little nutso in my car!

I come upon a little place that has painted on the side, "Backdoor Cafe". I slow down because there are only 2 cars parked outside and I see an open sign. Looking like a safe place, I pull in and venture inside to see what my options are.

The place was deserted and I was one of two guests inside. It is 2pm afterall so I don't judge this as a bad thing since I had never even heard of Micro until today.

I was greeted by a lady who seemed nice enough but did look at me like it was weird that there was someone coming in to eat that she did not know. I wanted something on the healthy side and with it being a place that had all fried foods on the menu, other than a side salad and breakfast items. I asked if she could make me a grilled chicken sandwich and she happily agreed to do so. It may have been the first time because she asked me twice if I was sure I just wanted a grilled chicken sandwich and was it ok that it was on a hamburger bun. I told her that was fine and was appreciative of the accomodation. I ordered a side of the potato salad which was SUPER sweet. I had never had any potato salad that tasted so sweet and it was creamy, like mashed potatoes. I didn't eat past two bites of it. The grilled chicken was flavorful and yummy! Can't compain about the sandwich!

I took a gander at the menu and there were lots of breakfast items, like breakfast biscuits and sandwiches, including eggs and bacon plates. The waitress told me that they open at 6am and serve breakfast until 2pm.

Not a bad joint to pop in on if you are in Micro and need some grub!
