We were staying at Orange Lake Resort, so this location is right outside the resort. Â What a great choice. Â The ambiance is relaxed. Â You can dine outside or in. Â We were lucky to have arrived at 9 pm on Thursday which is Happy Hour. Â 1/2 priced drinks and appetizers. Â $3 for a premium 20 oz beer...can't beat that. Â We sampled several appetizers and Empanadas, Lobster quesadilla and coconut shrimp were great. Â The chicken sliders....not so great. Â We all had pasta dishes as mains and were very happy. Â They have a choice for a smaller size portion, which we all had and it was certainly enough food for dinner.
Next time I am down in Orlando, I will not miss eating here again.
We went twice to this location during the duration of our vacation. The first time was very good, they were out of a few items and the food was a bit slow coming out but overall it was nice and my fish was good. Dj, our waiter, was very friendly and entertaining, he even put on a bit of a show for the kids. We left relatively happy with everything, enough so to come back one more time, a couple days before we were going to depart. We didn't get a reservation this time, so no problem since we knew we were going to wait.
Once seated the waitress came by for drink and appetizers orders while handing out some jokes, she was very friendly and polite. Our drinks were taking a really long time, since there was a mix of sodas, smoothies, and alcoholic drinks. We could tell our waitress was doing everything possible to get us what we wanted and came by with plenty of water and refills of what she could get us, but there was obviously something horribly wrong going on in the bar. Beside that, the food itself took absolutely forever. Our appetizers, empanadas and various shrimp, came out and the taste was delectable, I could have gone for more of that and made it a meal because I was starving, but I ordered a juicy steak that I was holding out for along with three other adults in my party.
There was such a big gap between our appetizers and our entree, and again the kind waitress came by to try and make sure that we were well hydrated and we put in another order for a couple alcoholic drinks while waiting. When the food did come only one steak was cook close to what was ordered, it came our medium when asked for medium rare. My steak came out a little more towards medium well when I asked for medium rare, and my parents steaks came out a bit past medium well when they asked for medium. Another member of our party had a burger that had a piece of plastic in it as well as being over charred, and one of the kids that ordered the child's cheeseburger had hers super charred. We called the waitress, and felt bad to send so much back because we felt like that troubled table but this was downright unacceptable since the prices of these plates weren't exactly cheap. The waitress felt really bad, and was doing everything in her power to make us feel better and even suggested the manager some out to talk with us. By the way, the bar still hadn't gotten us that second round of drinks, our poor waitress kept bring me water.
The manager came and after talking it over with my mom assured us that the food would be on its way soon but we had to call her back because the rest of us were to hungry to wait for everyone to get food and I had enough time to finish my meal with out any other food coming for the overdone orders. the manager apologized and said she would take the orders off our bill and give us a $20 gift card to come back and spend there. No thank you, not going back there again. We just gave the gift card to the next table, they seemed to get their order right. Love the floor staff because they are friendly and prompt but a major failure as far as everything else is concerned.
Their Habanero wings are no longer spicy! Â WTH?! Â What a bland batch of wings I had. Â Very disappointing. Â I remember that sucker being so hot it brought tears to my eyes. Â So sad.
Also I ordered their pan seared tuna on a salad. Â Which the menu read "warning this is rare" Â I got it and it was medium well...not fully well done but almost well done. Â I would have returned it but I wasn't in the mood to be that person that night.
Appetizers and Drinks are 1/2 price at happy hour!
We ordered the lobster and Shimp Quesadilla appetizer which was incredible.
He ordered fish tacos  (He rates a 7 out of 10)
I got the seafood paella (I rate a 6 out of 10- rice was sort of dry)
We came back a 2nd time and got the same quesadillas.
He got a creole rice bowl ( 8 out of 10)
I got a cheese burger - dry (6 out of 10)
Both times service was outstanding. Lots of drink options
Drinks were great. We all felt ill after we ate there. My wife and daughter both puked that night and got diarrhea. Our mother in-law ate there 2days later and also got very ill. We believe it came from the seafood chowder. Other then this trip we always loved eating here, but kind of turned off and left us with a bad taste in out mouths
Review Source:We ended up having a late dinner here on a Wed evening. Â Not packed at all at 9PM so we were seated rather quickly. Â Chose to sit outside and there was a fantastic older gentleman and his guitar as the evening entertainment.
I'm usually weary of these chain places because the food is usually very....plastic? Â Meaning it seems like it all comes out of pre-packaged/seasoned bags reheated....but this was far from the case here. Started with an order of beef empanadas, jumbo lump crab stack, and conch fritters. Â I have to say that all of it was very good, especially the beef empanadas. Â That and the crab dish came with this ridiculously addictive mango chutney...amazing. The main dishes were just OK, we ordered a shrimp and lobster linguine in a cream sauce, a curry chicken over basmati rice dish, a pan fried tilapia fish dish from the kids menu for our 5 year old, and a fish special entree. Actually the main dishes were better then next day for some odd reason...our server was really nice and friendly and really went out of her way to make us comfortable all throughout our meal.
Loved this place. Â I usually don't care for franchises like these. Not personal enough. Â However this place had just what I expected but better with personality. Â My drinks were made fresh and fast as was my food. Â Nice menu as well. Â Exotic food for me, simple food for my son. Â Both had good portion size. Â The ambiance is nice as well. Â We sat outside and were serenaded by a paid musician. Â When we were finished we chatted on the outdoor patio and couch. Â Very relaxing. Â The price is right. Â I would go back.
Review Source:I really like the seafood " fish " entrees here. They are always done well and very tasty. Also the appetizers are great! And drinks make you feel like your on a cruise or a island. Famous Bahamarita is awesome. I definitely recommend this place. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Some of the old menu items were rest they took off. Wish they would come back though.
Review Source:First time here. Started off with a painkiller. Â Very tasty drink. Had the coconut shrimp appetizer, it was good but I like the sauce at Red Lobster better. I had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken -light portion. I am afraid to know what the full portion is like I could barely finish as it was. Service was ok, there was some issues that they were closing at 10:00 pm and the server seemed a bit distracted with preparing for closing. We even had to ask for napkins and plates after the appetizer was brought out. Â For dessert I had the dulce de leche. That was perfectly sized after a big meal and tasted fabulous.
Review Source:Always friendly and welcoming. Â They have a great discount for Disney Cast, and great happy hour specials. Â Their beef empanadas and pork sliders are wonderful, their pineapple coconut martini is wonderful and each for $5 or less (before 6pm).
My husband usually gets the bacon cheeseburger, its juicy and delicious.
We live near this location, and will continue to visit often.
Nice food, and they had a Kona beer on tap, which was nice. Â I have never been to this location but it's nearly the same as the one out on I-Drive. Â Good service, almost all the same menu items, everything tasted great. Â The hummus is delicious. Â I got the fish tacos here and they were tasty. Â I'll definitely be back-- this location was a quick drive down 429 and right off the exit. Â Plenty of parking-- MUCH easier to get in and out of than the I-Drive location.
Review Source:This was my first experience at a Bahama Breeze... and what an awesome place!! Great food. Everything we ordered was very tasty! Excellent service and consultation on gluten free (gf) diet by the restaurant's General Manager himself! That's right. Chris came personally to our table and was instrumental in our choice of gf food, by providing food preparation information! He was cheerful and upbeat. He was happy to help us and be of service to us. He made us feel comfortable and welcome at Bahama Breeze, Kissimmee, FL!
Our server, Nicole A., was dynamic every time she came to our table. She was a breath of fresh air, friendly, knowledgable of the menu items and did not hesitate to ask the General Manager or the Chef questions she did not know the answer (unlike other servers at other establishments who tend to guess the correct answer), Nicole understood the vital importance attached to the health risks of eating the wrong food and thus, sought out the correct information by asking the right people! Servers like Nicole A. make customer's visit to a restaurants a five star experience!
In addition, I wish I could have thought of thanking the Chef in person.... So, Hats off to the Chef!!!
Thank you Nicole A. and the Chef for a great experience. Also, a huge "Thank You" to Chris, General Manager, for treating and training your crew in a professional way!
I like the one on 535, but this one was awful. Â The rice & beans tasted like it came out of a TV dinner. Â The fish tacos were bland and boring. Â The kids' macaroni & cheese was soupy, and spilling everywhere. Â The kids' milkshake was TINY, $3 for basically 3 sips, and icy, not creamy. Â The ambience is pretty dull here too. Â Yuck.
Review Source:I have been going to Bahama Breeze since the first one opened on International Drive in the '90s. I have always liked the restaurants, especially the way they are designed and themed. Â Unfortunately, the last time we went to the original one it just was not that great. Â The food left a heavy feeling in our guts and just felt overpriced for what you got.
When the new one in Kissimmee opened, we decided to give it a go.
The first disappointment when we walked up was the decor. Â Where the two in Orlando have awesome outside sitting areas with fire pits, vegetation, waterfalls and the like, this one lacked that and just had a small outdoor area with some seating. Â No big deal really, as I figured this one probably would not see the amount of tourism the big two do being so close to Disney and I-drvie. Â
When we walked inside, it felt even less "Bahama Breeze" with just a large dimly lit rectangle of a room and a bar off to the side. Â Compared to the other restaurants of the same name, this one felt more like it was built inside or adjacent to a hotel. Â Just no where near as fun and cozy as the others.
But hey, if the food is good, the decor is just a small piece of the pie, so we ordered. Â We started off with the Coconut Shrimp, which is a staple here. Â My wife ordered the Ropa Vieja, which was removed from the other restaurants menus years ago, but is here, which made us very happy. Â I decided to try the new Curry chicken bowl as I absolutely love curry.
First to arrive were the Coconut Shrimp, which as always, were fantastic! Â Lightly coated in that wonderful batter and served with the awesome dipping sauce that I truly love. Â Off to a great start!
Our meals then arrived. Â Now, my wife loves Ropa Vieja, and with a small local place by us that serves it very very well, she was excited to try the dish here. Â It was good, but just not to the level of excellence that is the small Cuban place by us. Â Add the price, and it just made it that much harder to grasp.
When my curry arrived, I was a bit disappointed right away as it looked.. odd. Â the chicken was big chunks sitting on top of a big amount of white rice. Â with a little curry sauce. Â
In my first bite, I was disappointed. Â the chicken was dry and just felt like it was frozen meat that was used. Â The curry was not really curry tasting at all, with very little spice and not much flavor. Â I was expecting curry, full of flavor with fresh tender meat and a nice spice. Â Unfortunately this is not what I received.
The staff, like in all other Bahama Breezes, were great. Â Courteous, friendly and knew I was not very happy with my meal and tried their best to make it better. Â I really appreciate that, as I know what it can be like to be in that position.
In the end, for a great appetizer, two so-so meals and two iced teas we got a bill of over $50.  Not worth it at all in my opinion as we can go to local mom & pop owned establishments and get amazing curry  or awesome Ropa Vieja for less then half of this bill.
Sadly, I feel my love for this chain is over, and its time to move on.
I really like the restaurant concept amongst the Olive Gardens of the world so gave it a shot. Unfortunately, that meant people in our dinner party got sick from one of the pasta cream dishes that had spinach in there. Also, once you get into the menu selections this is very chain restaurant-esque. Â Being in the Orlando area I suppose you have to expect that. I had the burger since nothing else seemed to stand out from the 'Caribbean' flair they were going after. Being that two people got sick, I'm glad I went with the burger. Lastly, the service was OK but the server was over the top with comeback lines for EVERY thing asked or commented on. Maybe he should have tried going to work for Disney than being a waiter. I like trying new restaurants and was hopeful I could add this to the list of good ones, but no dice here.
Review Source:I always enjoyed eating @ Bahama Breeze.
THe drink and food menu are so awesome!
SInce I was celebrating my birthday with my family, I made sure to order my favorite dish: guava flavored ribs & sweet potato mash. Â I also ordered their lemon ginger mojito, which was pretty awesome!
We also ordered the Truffle Yuca Fries as an appetizer. Â Very light and crispy. Â The dipping sauces were pretty tasty too.
Overall, I and my family enjoyed my birthday dinner here!
We wanted to get a late night snack and drink. Stopped in at 12am. Atmosphere was great. Workers were all nice and friendly. Our server, Manny, was awesome. He made sure we were well satisfied. Chef Chris came out and brought our food. He later came back and introduced himself and he personally made sure we were happy with the food he prepared. The food was great. My drink, the bahamarita was made perfectly. I just wanted to say that we were completely satisfied with the service and the food. We will definitely come back again!
Review Source:My husband and I were going to try all these swanky restaurants while in Florida, but after being in the pool and in the sun all day, we just wanted to grab a bite and not have to get all dressed up and drive 10 miles to get there. This place is right across the intersection of Orange Lake Resort and Country Club, where we are owners. I was excited to see new places when we drove past so I said we GOTTA try this one. It sounds good and I was right. IT WAS!
To begin with, being a party of two, we were seated immediately. Our server was a doll! She was very knowledgable and answered all of our questions and even made recommendations. This is a HUGE plus in my book. Nothing worse than someone who knows nothing.
We started off with the Crab, Shrimp, Mango and Avocado Stack, which is jumbo lump crabmeat, chilled shrimp, fresh avocados and apple-mango salsa layered and stacked; with a spicy honey-red pepper drizzle. All I can say is YUM! This was beautifully presented and the flavors were phenominal together. Nice and light so we could move on to the main course and also have room for dessert!
For our main course, I had the Calypso Shrimp Linguine, which is shrimp in sautéed with garlic, scallions, tomatoes, Creole spice and a touch of cream. This was chock full of shrimp too. They offered a full size and lighter portion, which I appreciated, because as mentioned my goal was to make it to dessert. This was so tasty that I ate the entire lighter portion entree. I commented to the waitress, "This is the lighter portion? What the heck does the full sized portion look like?" She told me it would have come on the same sized plate as my husband's entree.  I thought the lighter portion was plenty.
My husband had the Tilapia Simply grilled with yellow rice and green beans. I tasted his rice and green beans which were both cooked perfectly. He also said the tilapia was delish!
For dessert, we had Rebecca's Key Lime Pie. All I have to say is OMG! What a HUGE piece of pie. So glad we were splitting. The pie was homemade. This was awesome! Not too tart. Just right.
I highly recommend Bahama Breeze. We are people that like to eat and get the hell out! We aren't drinkers, so we don't tend to linger. They had us in and out in 45 minutes. and the bill including tax and tip was $70. I did not think this was bad for the quality.
For people who don't like to bolt, they had live entertainment on the outside patio where you could also eat. Just a nice atmosphere. You can tell this outfit is a well oiled machine. They know how to run a restaurant. A very enthusiastic thumbs up!
I was leery about eating here because the parking lot looked empty. We took the chance and really liked it.
Try the Bahamarita. ($4 between 4-6pm). Sit on the patio and ask for Carlos to serve you. Tell him that Dr Bruce sent you.
You might also go across the street to Miller's Ale House. Â It's great food. Try the Lobster, Ribs or Zingers. Amazing!
Had not hear of this chain before but it seemed like a fun place to eat. Â It had a nice decor and atmosphere. Â Â
The menu has a light Caribbean / South of the Border twist.
Since it was late lunch the place was empty. Â Our waitress was supper friendly and quick to take our orders for iced teas and two combo plates - fish tacos with fish chowder and the Cuban sandwich with black bean soup. Â After our iced teas were delivered and extra ice brought out to us 10 minutes later without us asking or it, our waitress vanished!
Remember, the place was empty. Why we waited 30 minutes for our meals was not clear. We finally grabbed a cook has he walked by to see what happened to our food. Â He knew exactly what we ordered (why was I so surprised?) Â and our plates were delivered within a few minutes. Â
Both meals were terrific. Soups while not very hot ( probably because they were sitting around for a while) were very tasty. Â We both really enjoyed the flavors of the Cuban sandwich. Â For a chain restaurant, they did a great job. Â
We just found it strange that we later saw our waitress sorting silverware in the front of the house and she never came back to our table.  We had to  ask someone else walking back to the kitchen to  deliver our check.  Maybe that's the custom in Florida?
If it wasn't for the incredibly slow service I would rate this 4 stars.
