Good beer. Decent specials. Use to have a good crowd on Tuesday nights but that was a long time ago. Use to joke that the DJ should change his name to DJ SuckA$$ because...well it's obvious. The bar area isn't very big but boy do they cram speakers in and crank them up up up. Food is...horrible. Yeah. Did I mention they have beer and tvs? Yeah, that's about it. Oh and there may be a cover charge for PPV events. Yeah...
Review Source:I actually enjoy the food here. My 1 star rating is due to the poor service you'll get inside Bailey's. Â Drinks are a bit pricey, and you will be sitting down for about 20 minutes before a waitress will even come and take your drink order. All the while, if you look over by the registers, you will see them congregating and horseplaying with each other while customers are waiting for their order to be taken.
Then....once you actually receive your food.....its wrong! The waitress was in such a rush to take our order that she didn't bother listening to anything I had to say with it. Just horrible I say, horrible
Lunch visit.
We started with an order of nachos, and I was surprised with everything on them that all the flavors seemed to mesh well. I got a Turkey Sammich on some kind of Pretzel roll. Not too bad. GF got a burger, she was OK with it.
Lots of beer. The bartender seemed pretty knowledgeable about the beer. I will say he was a bit frank with us, and possibly would be happier working in a comic book store. None the less he was friendly and on point.
You know, this place get's terrible reviews and to be honest, the only food I've tried was the cheese fries but here's my experience:
They have cold beer, great happy hour prices, you can smoke a cigar on the patio, they have lots of TV's, and the staff is a lot of fun.
So, if you want a nice happy hour experience, this is it. Â And you won't be alone. Â In spite of the reviews, this place is always PACKED in the bar. Â And who knows, I might be one of those folks packed in there having a nice time, a cold beer, and a good time.
Hey, I can tell you this, it beats everything else on this Germantown exit by a MILE so give it a try, I think you'll like it.
Awful.
The only thing I can say positive is that they were clean and not crowded so you can easily get a seat.
They do not seem to care that they are awful.
Food awful, service awful.
No manager to be found anywhere.
This review is based on three visits, as I wanted to give them a chance.
Ah, Germantown. The suburban wasteland. Â Cookie cutter establishments.
Bailey's is one of those places that is a product and victim of market research. That market research is what it has going for it, and against it at the same time. Â You've got your array of sports on multiple TVs, music that covers multiple pop/rock demographics, American pub food and pool tables. Â Fox and Hound has done their research, and what they are doing seems to be working from a business viability point of view, but it still sucks, because it is so obviously contrived.
Speaking for myself, if I'm out for a night of drinking, the place is tolerable for a short period of time, but I wouldn't want to spend all night there. Â It is exactly like the other Bailey's I used to go to from time to time with co-workers in Richmond, VA. Â You could pick this place up and put it in Anywhere, USA and it would work...from a spreadsheet/investor point of view.
This would be an OK spot to have quick couple of drinks at the beginning of the night when you are meeting friends, and then moving on to better things. Â However, it being in Germantown, there's not much in the way of "better things" available.
If this is your planned destination for the night, then you are in for an evening of being pummeled with a "radio ready" social experience in an establishment that has no true soul.
...and as for the food...I don't know, and I'm not really interested.
Can be very hit and miss. I LOVE the turkey melt but everything else seems to be up and down. I have had the wings when they are good and when they are barely eatable. Great selection of beer and on Tuesday they are 2.50 a pint - that's a great deal, the rest of the time though, the good ones are 7. Â Atmosphere is also hit and miss, some days it is family friendly, some nights like a biker bar, and some days it is a meat market (wouldn't want to be buying that meat! - just saying). On the good when it is family friendly I can bring the kids and it is like a good buffalo wild wings, when it is bad it is like a buffalo wings and things with bad food and cursing bar clientele - but at least they don't charge for water!.
Review Source:This review is based mainly on the food, which if you are judging by the one star you would assume is horrible.
Ding, ding, ding! You would be correct in that assumption. The food was TERRIBLE. I don't think it should be hard for a bar to whip out good sandwiches and fried food. Nothing mind blowing, no culinary master pieces, just good fried food. But apparently this isn't the case at Baileys.
I went for dinner and a couple drinks with a friend. The service was bad, our waitress wasn't very friendly, and the food took a while to come especially considering that there were two parties in the 'dining room' and the bar wasn't that crowded at all.
The food: I had some sort of buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. My chicken was not good. It wasn't something in particular that was really wrong with it. Â Just overall it wasn't good. The fries were undercooked. Not cold/frozen just too firm, I don't know the proper adjective to describe it but exactly how fries that just haven't been fried long enough are.
The drinks, we had mojitos which I thought were actually pretty good and was surprised that they were. It was around $20 or so for two drinks and food so I didn't think the prices were too bad. Just the food! All in all, if you have to go to Bailey's I would suggest sticking to the drinks and either waiting until you are too drunk to notice it is horrible or just avoiding the food in general. If you don't have to go to Bailey's I would say don't...there are so many other options in the area.
SLOW , like a turtle service. Â Food is not good. Went there for st Pattys day one year because, well, it's an Irish pub. Â No specials , no green beer. Â Huh? Â Went once again because several friends were meeting there, so didn't have a choice. Â ( was friends birthday ) Â same situation ..slow service , and food was greasy and not good. I won't go again, unless it's just for drinks.
Review Source:Pub? I don't think so... Just another dirty sports bar. The beer was warm and served in a mug fresh out of the dish washer. The food was ok, bar food. The service sucked, 15 people in the place and it takes 10 minutes to get a beer at the bar, the staff is too busy socializing with each other to bother with customers. First and last time.
Review Source:The snow flurries that passed for "snow" in the Gaithersburg area the other night prompted me and some co-workers to hit up Bailey's Pub and Grille in G-town after work. Bailey's used to be one of my regular watering holes up until a few years ago. I used to work across the street so it was a convenient place to grab a few drinks or something quick to eat after or before work.
I ordered 2 Sam Adams Oktoberfest beers and a couple of Long Island Ice teas...The Oktoberfest is going out of season soon soon to be replaced by the inferior Winter Lager so I try to drink as much of it as I can...They do have my favorite Blue Moon on tap though...good. The teas were nice and potent. I didn't see any drink specials advertised nor was I notified of any. If I recall, they used to have daily drink specials? Co-worker ordered chicken tenders which were juicy and delicious...I tried a couple and they were excellent. The batter melts in your mouth and the chicken is so tender and moist. I ordered some to go.
The bartenders - all female and wearing the same low-cut black tops - were not hired for their efficiency. You could not get their attention if you drove an 18-wheeler through the restaurant. They work...so....slowly. Friend requested extra sauce for his chicken tenders and it took 15 minutes for him to receive it. It should be noted the restaurant was practically empty. There were only a few groups hanging out near the bar area. So nil points for the service. Atmosphere? It's still the same hooters and shooters place it's always been...drunken overgrown frat boys doing jell-o shots, a couple unashamedly making out near the restroom area, oversized gorilla-man bouncers (though these man-apes appear less zealous than the ones who guard the nearby Green Poodle)...Bailey's isn't anything it doesn't pretend to be...it is just a loud rowdy sports bar with multiple big screen TV's. Don't expect anything more and you might enjoy yourself. See you at Bailey's!
Worst bar in germantown, takes 20 minutes to get a beer, staff is rude, patrons are 95% guys. have been there a few times and still havent seen 1 cute single woman there. food is terrible even for bar standards. so if you enjoy waiting a LOOONG time for overpriced beer/crappy food then Baileys is the spot for you
Review Source:Purchased a voucher from one of the deal sites I forget which one. Any way it's in my neighborhood and I've always wanted to try it. Well let me say I don't think I'll be going back. The service was ok not nothing to write home about and the food was the same. Now with the voucher I had I kept within the total because I was on a budget. My kids of course got the kids meal that comes with a drink. The server charged me $5 for the drinks. So I said what is this I shouldn't have to pay anything but tax and your tip. So she said my manager told me to do this, needless to say I was pissed. So I had to pick up daddy and told her to refund the drinks and just give me a chilli to go instead so daddy could have dinner too. So for $5 bucks I was expecting a slightly bigger cup of chilli. But anyhoo.. daddy said it was good but from this experience I'm not going back. So if you have a deal voucher beware of any additional charges.
Review Source:Do yourself a favor- just don't. No matter how much time you have before the movie, it is not worth it. The food is disgusting. The service? Oh, there is any? I remember seeing some girl in a half tank with her muffing top and belly button hanging out carrying around some plates of food, but surely, that wasn't a waitress. Our waitress took our order, came back with said order, and then was missing for the rest of the time. While leaving, the manager was at the hostess station talking to the hostesses, no "think you for coming" or "have a nice night". Nada. Radio silence for us. I realize this isn't supposed to be a 5 star place, but really? How about just some basic skills?
Review Source:Down in MD for work and not many options available I found myself at Bailey's. Â The servers and host were extremely friendly. Â There... I said something nice... with that out of the way: the food was blah, the atmosphere was below blah, and I am not sure what is up with the lighting, but it drove me crazy. Â It is obviously a place to catch the game, but the TVs all seemed low quality and out of focus. Â With a few steak places surrounding it, I do not recommend bothering with Bailey's.
Review Source:The "settling" bar. This name only comes up when I'm in Germantown, and there are no other suggested spots. Although the crowd was pretty decent last time I visited, I still can't shake the trucker/redneck vibe I get from here. Usually pretty casual, full of regulars. I like the large tv, bar stool set up they have going on when you first walk in. Â And I like the leather booths tucked away on the sides. Â It's never a problem to find a seat even when the house is pretty full. Â Typical bar fare and averagely priced drinks. Blue Moon on tap ~ $5. Mehhh for sure.
Review Source:Great happy hour. A different one for every day of the week. I came here on a Tuesday and got the $2.50 all day beer on tap. Great selection of beer. Â
I ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich with a caesar salad instead of fries. The cheese steak was served with a side of horse radish (my first) which made it very good. Â
A game wasn't on at the time but there were big screen TV all-around so I would imagine it would be even better on game day. Â
Definitely would go again!!!
Me and my Best friend went here for karaoke and and LAUGHED all night long. The drinks we priced great. They have a great staff. Everyone is pretty friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is like a real Cheers Like bar.
Not really a big sports fan, so I couldn't tell you what was going on with all that good stuff.
They definitely have a pool table(s) and when I get drunk enough I like to pretend I am pretty decent at it.
I haven't tried their food yet, but if your staying at the Fairfield Inn(Located Directly across...) you get a discount when you bring your room key to the restaurant.
I even managed to score 4 phone numbers. That my friend is a great atmosphere :)
If i had posted a review before the past couple of months there would of been a better rating. this USED to be one of my weekly spots. they have a full bar with Heinekin on tap, plenty of tv's, almost all female staff, good wings, and a dj on certain days. Whats changed is that they dont have a "theme night anymore" where the staff would dress up in outfits (cowgirl, jersey, pajama) they dont have $2 beer night anymore, the dj is not there as often, not to mention the wings are the only thing worth ordering. there is a bigger police presence outside because of recent shootings, stabbings and fights. this has brought the quality down.
Review Source:Good selection of beer and their staff knows how to pour a Guinness which is really important. Â The food is average, typical sports bar food, nothing really impressive. Â The wings actually are very tasty and I do recommend them.
I have been here several times, probably the best bar I have been in the Gaithersburg/Germantown area. Â The people are friendly and have always had a good time when I showed up. Â
Crowd: Â Â Â Varies each night (21 - 31) crowd
Best night: Â Tuesday $2.00 Pints
If you are looking for a good place to relax after work with several TVs this is the place to go. Â It is tucked away behind a hotel, so it can be difficult to find, but once you know where it is, you'll go back often.
Wonderful selection on tap, bartenders know how to mix, appetizers are pretty good. Â Not a lot of places to drink in Germantown, but this place is pretty good.
I had dinner here twice, and the dinners taste like salt. Â The brisket was tough salt, the ribs were salty BBQ, and the fries were presalted. Â The music can be way to loud if Maryland or the Redskins aren't playing. Not always a place to drink and relax. Lots of TVs, and sometimes there's sitcoms and music videos on.
Overall- good beer selection, good appetizers, great during football season, nasty dinner menu.
Ok first i need to preface this. Â This is a combined review for 14 straight weeks of watching Sunday football.
My friends and I had been looking for a bar that had lots of flat TV's that showed every NFL game, relatively comfortable chairs, and decent food. Â You'd think this is easy enough to find, but apparently not. Â Well we thought we had found it with Baileys. Â First of all the wait staff is excellent. Â They're very friendly and helpful
The TVs..... this is the main source of irritation for me. Â Whoever choses what game goes on what TV is a complete idiot. Â With something like 10 - 12 tvs in the main room they use up about half of them for the home team. Â I can understand having the skins on a few tv's but is it really necessary to use up so many on one game? Â Especially when it means you're not going to show other games. Â On top of that they refuse to change any of the TVs even if nobody is watching that particular TV.
Second.... the Food. Â The food here is horrendous. Â The only thing that's decent are the wings. Â Everything else i've eaten here has been somewhere between average and inedible. Â However they do have a great selection of beer.
So lets recap. Â Great wait staff. Â Decent beer. Â Shitty everything else. Â 1 star sounds about right.
This Bailey's opened several years ago and I remembered going there during a work layoff to say goodbye to those who lost their jobs. I revisited the bar recently it has a really good crowd for happy hours and they usually have boxing or UFC fights showing on the fight nights - it's a great place to go if you don't want to order the fights at home. It has a good atmosphere. I liked the short ribs and  brisket sandwiches.
