We were waiting for some friends who were running late so what better way than to go check out a local bar (we were off to Polish Village after). Â Now, I was not in the best shape given the previous evening. Â But yes, I actually thought this bar was quite fun. Â Opening week of the NFL season. Â Lions are playing the Rams. Â It's a close game. And people are kicking back and drinking some solid beers. Â Watching Staffy and Megatron. Â This is the type of bar where you can instantly talk to all the people around you. Â It's a normal bar. Â If the drinks are cheap and it's festive. Â Well, that to me, is a great thing. Â I was only visiting, but I do go to Michigan every few years. And Hamtramck will be on the itinerary. Â And Baker will be as well.
Review Source:This is a true Hamtramck gem right on the main street of town. Â The owner could be Mayor if he wanted (he actually bought the bar from a former city councilman). Â Cops like to drink here so you probably are safe - unless you are just too ALL fucked up and are a complete @ss hole. Â
Being Polish is fun here - but not required. Â The owner organizes great "beer on the bus" outings to Tiger games, college and Lion football games, etc. Â I also believe they host a golf outing each year. Â They also host charity fundraisers here. Â The place is on Joseph Campau Ave. (the city's main street) however, there is a generous free parking lot just behind the place. Â Rocky has security cameras plus, as I mentioned, cops hang here - so relax and stay late. Â
About 12 years ago Rocky, the owner, bought the building next door to the bar and busted through the wall - so the place is twice as big as it looks from the front and makes a great venue for live entertainment and catered parties.
Just a few steps out the back door there is another fun little bar (with outdoor seating) called 'Whiskey in the Jar'. Â That bar is owned by Tom, former Mayor and a current city councilman. Â Two great companion bars and you never have to move your cars. Â "I'm a poet and don't know-it..." Â KEEP YELPING
