Stopped in last night, minutes before Happy Hour came to an end and was very pleasantly surprised!
Sat outside by the fountain and enjoyed the beautiful end to another South Florida day. I started off with the 1/2 off beer which in this case was the Angry Orchard Apple Cider. With the purchase of a drink on Tuesdays, was very happy to indulge in a $1 turkey burger!
A remarkable deal for the tastiness of the burger and the cool, crispness of the beer. Additional toppings for the $1 burger range in price-- I chose the mozzarella cheese (.75 cents) and the "en fuego" sauce (.25 cents). The en fuego sauce is prepared with habaneros so it definitely carries a kick but its good!
Already planning the remainder of my Tuesday summer nights at this lovely laid-back, patio area spot at Bar Louie!
Bar Louie keeps going downhill. It used to be the hip place to be in Boynton, but now they can't seem to keep a crowd. I went there this past Sunday to watch football since I know that I'll be able to watch my team, but unfortunately we were faced with horrible service. We sat at the outdoor bar for 15 minutes and no one came out to greet us, nor take our drink order so we left . I want to like this place , but they can't get it together .
Review Source:Guess we went there on one of those "miss" nights as previous reviewers have written. Probably better for the younger crowd as bar tenders and waitstaff dressed darkly and a lot of tatts. All fine and well but service wasn't that great and no special bar prices at all. Compund that with the fact that we were told they didn't have the vodka we wanted, only to see a bottle of it sitting on the shelf after we finished our first drink. Music was a little hard for early in the evening as well. We had planned to dine here but opted to leave after the bar experience.
Review Source:My wife and I have been going here on weekday evenings for about a year now. Â The beer selection is great and the food is almost always delicious. Â The only exception is the Tues night $1 burgers which only come well-done (like cardboard). Â But order a Blue Louie, or Fried Louie burger and you WON'T be disappointed! Â Also the apps are pretty special. Â We love the bruschetta and the Tempura Shrimp with 3 sauces is delicious!!! Â Can't speak for table service as we always sit at the bar, where the service is prompt. Â Overall, this place is good for those looking for good pub food in a laid-back atmosphere. Â We continue to be regulars!
Review Source:Great beer selection. Really like how they offer beer from local breweries. A tour at Due South Brewing (5 minutes away) followed by lunch and a beer here makes for a great Saturday afternoon. Nice variety on the menu. We usually sit outside. The service outside can be hit or miss. Sitting at the bar usually works out ok, but service at a table can sometimes take a while. The tables and menus seem to always need wiping down.
Overall, the beer and appetizer selection make this a perfect meet up spot.
This place is a hit or miss when it comes to service and atmosphere. The outside bar is probably the better place to socialize and enjoy beers while the food and inside is poor. The last time we went, we had chosen to eat inside at the bar. We ordered coronas and wanted lime to go with it, but they were out of it. We also ordered wings and I wanted the hottest sauce they had which is supposedly the en fuego flavor. It was weak and the flavoring was pretty bad. The bartender, Mike, was obviously a meathead because he never checked us after bringing our food to ensure that our stay at the bar was good. By the time we were ready to leave, we asked him for a carryout box and check and we waited for a good 20 minutes trying to get his attention again while he was busy talking, texting, and tending to his other customers who seemed to be his buddies. So I gave up and grabbed the attention of a waitress who was quick and gave us a box, the check, and did the credit card transaction quickly, too. We tipped her and not Mike who had originally taken care of our order.
It is a shame that this place is pretty big on the inside on the east side that every time we come in, even when it is crowded at the bar inside and outside- there is hardly anyone sitting at the big tables. There should be a couple of pool tables or darts to increase the fun and sociability of the bar inside.
Also, we've decided not to eat and drink inside of Bar Louie anymore because the inside somehow has become funky smelling like butt when you exit/enter it from the south side. So from now on, we enjoy our drinks and grub at the Irish pub, Slainte's which is on the other side of the building in the plaza.
'We are dedicated to always remaining a local bar that delivers unforgettable experiences to every guest. Whether gathering with friends or unwinding with a cocktail, Bar Louie guests have come to expect the remarkable service and reliable experiences from us that keep them coming back over and over again.' This statement is prominently displayed on the official Bar Louie website, on 'Louie's Story' page; unfortunately, the service delivered by the Bar Louie Boynton Beach bar left much to be desired - it was quite possibly one of the most dissatisfying and frustrating experiences we have had (on National Server's Day, no less).
My friends and I were very much looking forward to the New Beverage Menu Launch Party, as it was well promoted for the past three to four weeks. Upon arrival, we sat at a high-top table near the bar and waited for a server to come greet us and take our order - it took about fifteen minutes to be greeted and another half hour for two drinks. When we realized the waiter had forgotten us at the table, we moved to the bar expecting to receive better, faster service. When we arrived to the bar, we quickly realized that the shift for this event was completely understaffed, therefore we prepared ourselves to be even more patient than normal and wait for our drinks.
Our excitement and moods were instantly soured by our bartender, Courtney. From beginning to end, she was absolutely unprofessional and unfortunately had an abominable attitude. With her facial expressions and body language, she conveyed a strong sense of anger, a complete lack of urgency and acted inconvenienced for having to take our orders. As we and other patrons requested our drinks, she would openly roll her eyes, huff and puff and would not once break her ill-tempered grimace. Once or twice in our view, Courtney would slam her fist on the bar in a fit of frustration. She exclaimed to us that she and the team were not trained on the new drinks and didn't know what ingredients were in them - which is understandably infuriating, however should not affect the service the customers receive. It begs noting that in the approximately two hours (6:40pm - 8:25pm) we were at Bar Louie Boynton Beach we were served only two rounds of drinks. When Courtney requested our first drink order, she made a strange, rude face at each of us and later in the evening our neighboring patrons indicated that she did the same to them. After waiting twenty plus minutes for our first round, she placed each of our drinks at the very edge of the bar nearest her so that we would have to reach across to pick them up. One of the customers requested ketchup for their food - with this request, Courtney rolled her eyes, declared that she didn't know where it was and five minutes later came back and slid the ketchup to the customer which landed much too far away to reach. For our second and last round, in the middle of our simple orders, Courtney turned away abruptly and bellowed that she needed to write down the orders. We heard her say that she would rather have all of the customers at the bar write down their orders as it would be easier for her. Incredulously, when a group of three came to the bar and requested drinks, Courtney took receipt tape, handed it to them with a pen and told them to write down their orders. Another customer who requested a drink from the New Beverage Menu, was promptly shut down  by Courtney saying that she was out of lemon lime and told them to pick another drink - interestingly enough, a kinder waiter came by and told the customer that they did, in fact, have lemon lime and that she would make it for them.
Â
Throughout all of this, my friends and I were patient and polite. We quietly asked a different waiter to see a manager so as not to further provoke Courtney; however, the manager carelessly never came by. This is extremely disheartening as one would think that a manager of an establishment which boasts 'remarkable service and reliable experiences' would have enough integrity to hear out his customers and alleviate a uncomfortable and distressing situation. When we first arrived, we were as excited about our drinks as we were about the food, but we ended up not ordering any food because of the heinous service delivered to us by Courtney. This thought seemed to be the consensus among many of the customers at the bar during the New Beverage Menu Launch Party. Unfortunately for Bar Louie Boynton Beach, I know I will not be back and will ensure to spread the word. This is not how a business should be run, especially a restaurant which is completely dependent on customer satisfaction.
Bar Louie is an enigma to me. Â I've been going to it since it opened (not as a regular but maybe once a month) and have enjoyed it. Â But I do know a number of people (my mom included) that have had horrible times there. Â From saying it's too crowded to slow service to mediocre food tends to be all I hear.
Strangely I have never walked in and seen the place ridiculously busy. Â I have always been able to pull up a spot at the bar with no issues.
I'll admit the bartending crew has been a bit hit or miss. Â A few people were really good while a couple others would just stand there (because it wasn't busy) despite a person sitting there needing a drink or wanting to order food. Â Though one particular bartender (Courtney I believe her name is) is awesome. Â She's waiting on me a number of times and always seems to be in good spirits and is on the ball.
They have a big number of tap handles for beer including a good assortment of craft, which always makes me smile. Â It's a lot of your staples in craft beer like DFH 60 Minute, CCB Jai Alai, Rogue Dead Guy and such but I'm more than happy with that. Â Prices on them are pretty good too. Â Get a 20 oz glass and you will save money, trust me.
But my favorite part about Bar Louie is the Fried Louie burger. Â When I want something just a bit more than a regular burger this is my go to. Â Fried egg, bacon and cheese on a burger. Â It's delicious every time. Â Yes there have been a couple times that my fries were luke warm at best but now I've been getting tots instead with it. Â And the tots with queso are awesome. Â Now the prices on food is a little high in my opinion but I guess for the thing they are going for it's what you should expect. Â Like I said this is just a once a month indulgence thing for me.
I don't doubt the people that have told me about packed houses but I just have never seen it. Â There are honestly times I've gone in on a Friday night around 10 and it's near empty and I wonder how the place actually stays open. Â I guess I'm just lucky to miss the crowds.
I believe it's a place that is at least worth a try to someone that hasn't been.
Two weeks ago we went for happy hour. Â The new bar tended is useless. Â I ordered Honeydew, a signature drink I have been getting since I started going there. Â Both times my drink was missing the Coconut Rum. Â The food was barely warm and the service was terrible. Â Not sure if I will return ever again. Â Sorry Bar Louis you've let me down 1 to many times.
Review Source:Play by their rules, don't complain, and if you rock the boat expect to be treated badly.
The wife and I would frequent this place multiple times a week. Â Sure the service was slow and inattentive, food was mediocre and on par with other establishments nearby, and it attracted the kind of crowd that still though Ed Hardy was hip and not pathetic. Â Still, we liked it, we liked being outside, they hosted good events, and it was a nice place to grab a couple drinks and food for not too much. Â At least until one night when we went, grabbed a round of drinks and because we'd taken the survey for a free appetizer ordered some potstickers. Â Normally we would have stuck around for another round, but had somewhere to be. Â We cashed out only to be informed that because it was Thursday night we couldn't use the coupon. Â Which is odd since we had before multiple times. Â The bartender was rude, the manager Selma who recognized us only sat by the kitchen and openly laughed at us. Â Since then we have never been back and never will go back. Â If you want cheap drinks and sub par food there is a Miller's across the street that will never talk down or treat you like trash.
This place is a nice atmosphere with a friendly staff. Â The food is really good, but I am giving this place three stars for the lack of vegetarian options. Â They do have a few items, but I feel like they could have worked more in the menu. Â
Also, the staff was great serving the food fast. Â However, when it came time for the bill, we waited 25 minutes for them to bring it. Â
I went here after work during happy hour. Â They have some good deals. Â Happy hour ends at 7pm.
If you expect to get any food here--plan on waiting 45 minutes for it. Â We ordered Tuna rare and a burrito. Â The tuna was stringy and the burrito was average. Â The manager took 20% off of the check after the waiter complained on our behalf. Â If you are just looking for a cool bar to have a few drinks at this place is fine, but if you want dinner bring your sleeping bag.
Review Source:Sorry, Bar Louie. Â I keep trying to give you chances, but you are really having a lot more bad days than good.
Service is typically VERY slow now.  almost 40 minutes for our food to get out of the kitchen and it wasn't very busy.  This unfortunately has been the norm as of late.  Also, we put in an order for an appetizer with the manager working last night  since the bartender waiting on us was busy with something, and the manager never put in our order.  That seems like a huge oversight for being a manager.  We asked our bartender, Rachel, about it since she wasn't the one who took the order, and she said "oh, she didn't even put that in."  At least the manager comped my boyfriend and I a round of drinks for this mistake.
The adobo shrimp skewer app that we eventually got was good. Â The tilapia vera cruz was just okay but not as good as it used to be, and the shrimp bayou pasta was seriously lacking. Â The consistency of what you order here varies drastically.
Bar Louie needs to up their service speed, food quality/consistency and attentiveness so they can live up the the potential that is there.
Cool bar/ restaurant.
Outside bar area is perfect for watching the games and hanging out with friends, especially when the weather is nice.
There's another bar inside, plus tables for dining, all looking at different TVs setup throughout the place.
Didn't get to have dinner this time but drinks were delicious and not expensive. Â
Service was quick... Â Would like to go back and try their food - everything being served around looked good.
Was invited for UYE Saturday night and it was a great place! Major props to Patty for organizing this! Finally on in the 561 area! The location is nice and the place is very spacious.
They have an outside bar and inside one. One area is dedicated to the restaurant. I wish I would of arrived earlier to order something to eat because the food looked delicious but I will have to return. I ordered a glass of pinot grigio Italian wine. It was great.
Service was awesome. They were on point the whole night.
Definitely need to check this place out again!
The UYE was a good turnout. Â I had fun meeting everyone here tonight. Â Of course, the pretzel sticks was a must. Â We love them! Â I had the baked mac and cheese. Â It was very cheesy and creamy. Â I couldn't finish all of it. Â I had the choice to add a meat with it, but I opted not to. Â The strawberry fizz is a very nice drink consisted of vodka, strawberry puree, and razzmatazz topped with champagne. Â I only had one strawberry with the three that I had (I could of had 10 of those drinks ;)) and I thought it was kinda funny they ran out of strawberries. Â Oh well, it was still delish! Â :) Â Thanks to our waitress for doing an outstanding job with the service and her recommendations were very helpful. Â Keep it up, Bar Louie!
Review Source:Hooray for our first 561 Yelp event. It was not much of an event but more of a get together of some long lost friends it seemed.
Bar Louie was one of two places in Compson Plaza that I have not been to yet and I don't know why I waited so long.
The service was great last night. Our waitress was friendly and very attentive.
I tried the Bavarian pretzels and they were amazing! It came with 3 types of dips and the queso was top notch. I ordered the mac and cheese with jalapenos and bacon because who doesn't love spice AND bacon? Definitely not this girl. The mac and cheese was tasty, very creamy. My fiance had the Blue Moon fish and chips. I assumed he loved it since there was nothing on the plate.
A few odd things that did happen were that they ran out of strawberries and turkey. It was a busy Saturday night and I somehow managed to get the last strawberry in the house! Haha. The strawberry fizz was an amazing drink though I babied it all night.
We will definitely be back, especially for the pretzels and possibly future 561 UYEs.
Great Conversation + Spicy Food + Roadtrip = A Fun Saturday!
I want to thank Patty for organizing a great UYE and introducing me to another place where I can indulge my spicy food cravings. The place itself is what I'd call upscale sports bar. Its a fairly new building "town center" on what one of our dining companions said is the site of old Motorola plant. (Yes, I know, I can be a geek :/) The lighting was subtle that allowed for a chill dinner, and the flat screen TV's were plentiful showing a mix of college football and the Heat winning!
I ordered a plate of voodoo chicken, which cast a spicy spell on my mouth. For the "uninitiated" in the ritual, throw a spicy piece of blackened chicken mix in clean rice, a cream sauce, green and RED PEPPERS and you have the makings of a great Saturday dinner. My PB Sundae was original and made for good late lunch today (I took it to go). I didn't try any of the drinks and stuck to a coke (refills were prompt) and wait service was friendly.
Besides our great host Patty and her husband, I got to socialize withTiffany and Greshka, along with some hopefully future Yelpers :). Certainly worth the drive and can see myself coming back this way!
First time at this place. Â A girlfriend lives in the area and told me about the Tuesday night $1.00 burgers! Â YES! Â You heard right! Â I said I would meet her and also told another friend in the nearby area to come meet us as well. (She came later; however). Let me first state that I called the restaurant up to make sure I had the right directions since I wasn't familiar with the area and was greeted on the phone by a pleasant young lady (name escapes me now) who was polite enough to state that she wanted to give me over to someone that would help me arrive there since she wasn't very sure of the directions that I was discussing with her. Â Sean (or Shawn) was very polite and basically talked me all the way there into the parking lot when I was rather close and unsure of my surroundings. Â I arrived before my friend at about 8:15 pm and Sean (or Shawn) was funny when he asked me if I was looking for my friend. Â I said, "yes" and, he said, I'm STILL on the phone with her helping her to get here!" Â I laughed and, it was funny that he KNEW that it was me that was on the phone with him. Â My friend arrived and, we were told by John that we could sit anywhere and that he would be our server in just a minute. Â The place was NOT packed, but this is understandable due to the time and/or maybe NOT too many people know that they have this Tuesday night $1 burger night as well as other specials during the week. Â John came to our table promptly as he stated and took our drink orders. Â I elected to have a dirty martini special that was about the norm in the area of martini's...$10. Â What made this dirty martini special was the olive juice, obviously, but the three Blue cheese stuffed olives on the stick. Â Simply yummy and something I've yet tried before. Â We both ordered the special burgers for the night, albeit, my friend ordered the turkey burger instead. Â I opted NOT to for fear that it would be dry, but she had been there many times before and, I should have taken her suggestion. Â It was moist and meaty. Â Mine on the other hand, was well done; unfortunately, ordering the burger special cannot be ordered to your specification. Â You simply cannot order it rare, medium rare or medium. Â It comes out how it is....well done, which is NOT my ideal burger choice (give me medium rare please) but it was a night with friends and specials so it was ordered with grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms, Provolone cheese (various choices on the menu) and tomato. Â Lettuce is a given on it. Â All extra items are 50 cents each...not too bad for a $3 dollar burger for me as it was pretty big. Â I chose NOT to eat the top bun and ate it open faced even though it was a nice whole grained bun. Â I was a bit surprised that I had to pay for tomatoes, but again, it IS what it is and I enjoyed it. Â I ordered their basket of tater tots as a crispy treat and reminder of my childhood. Â I ate a few and, the friend that showed up during the meal, ate the rest. Â They were crispy and NOT greasy at all. Â Water with lemon was given at the beginning of the meal and, my two friends ordered iced tea as well. Â When we were finished and about to pay the bill, the fire alarm went off which coincidentally happened to be over our table and was ear piercing loud. Â Unfortunately, the fire Marshall was the ONLY one that would be able to turn it off so we quickly paid the bill to get out of there quick. Â
As only the fire alarm was the only deterrent of the evening, I think this place was a great eatery/drinking establishment and should be tried out with an open mind. Â I read some previous reviews and was sorry to hear that these patrons felt the way they did and had such poor service. Â I, and my friends enjoyed our evening with the exception of the fire alarm at the end of the meal and thought the place was pleasant with the surroundings and didn't feel crowded or that we had to speak loud for any reason. Â I would definitely return to this establishment and try some of their other mouth watering dishes that I saw on the menu as I perused it. Â Give it a try..I don't think you will be unhappy about it in the least bit. Â I will definitely return!
I had the unfortunate displeasure of meeting my girl out at this joint. She was hanging out with a few girlfriends from work for another friends birthday. These women are older, not quite prime mainstream working chicks, so I figured Bar Louie must have had some dumb ass sex and the city type of appeal to them. Frankly all I heard all night were comparisons of men and I wanted to shoot myself the minute I got there. The atmosphere was dark and crowded. The real problem was noise. This place was like 120 db with a band outside blaring some cover tunes and all. We were inside. I am a musician and I can handle noise, but forget about Bar Louie if you want to have a nice chat. It took me 20 minutes to get a second drink from our server. I actually had to go to the outside bar and push some people out of the way to get the bartenders attention. I ended up tipping $40 bucks on $70...kind of my over generous insult tip. I won't be going back and I don't see why this place appeals to anyone. Then again who is this place trying to appeal to?
Review Source:Went to Bar Louie and Margaritas last night for the Cinco De Mayo Block Party.. Both places are connected thru a courtyard and yet we got bitched at for having our Margaritas drinks at Bar Louie.. I go to Bar Louie prob about 10 times a month if not more and not only that I recommend them to all my friends and then to have a rude ass guy behind the bar not just talk to us like Adults but rudely Talk down to us like we were trash... Â We were in Bar Louie trying to order drinks which took for ever and they ran out of all 3 drinks that I happened to be ordering so then my friend walks up with drinks from Margaritas since Bar Louie didnt have and left of what we wanted to drink. Â Meanwhile we were trying to place a food order so it wasn't like we weren't trying to order drinks and food, we can not help it if the service sucked and was rude and wasn't making it possible for us to order drinks and food.. And to be yelled out by some employee is uncalled for and now for this I will never come here and I will recommend to all my friends to not come here again there is alot of competition in these hard times Employees need to learn how to have manners and treat paying customers with respect....
