Sweetwater Bar & Grill

Really interesting drinks and some eclectic food items make Sweetwater a destination. And it really HAS to be a destination because if you don't know where it is, you won't ever find it!  

It is located on the ground floor of what, to an outsider, looks like an abandoned condo building (Las Ventanas) . Park in the adjacent garage, and you can enter the restaurant through the back door. Walk past the peek-in kitchen and you enter the main dining room and bar area.

A friend of mine and I, both in our 50's, arrived at about 5:00 one evening. It was kind of quiet inside, maybe just 10 people or so, and it seemed like the type of place we would frequent regularly. We both ordered drinks (mine had Hendricks & King's Ginger & Thai Basil and tonic) - and they were fantastic albeit pricey.

After about an hour, in which we also ordered some appetizers, the place began filling up. The bar service took an immediate dive. Our bartender spent almost the entire time chatting up younger guests and we had to repeatedly flag him down to order.

Lightbulb! We quickly realized that we weren't exactly the demographic Sweetwater  appreciates!

Good food, great drinks, but unless you are under 35 or are there on a slow night - you won't get the attention you would expect for these prices

LOVE this spot. The Dutch Bramble is amazing and the bartender made me an amazing drink with ingredients I rattled off. All the food I've had so far here tasted so good! Mac n cheese, tomatoes and mozzarella, shrimp scampi, etc!

Sweetwater is my new favorite bar in South Florida! The drink menu is incredible - they have a great beer selection and fantastic cocktails.  The food is also quite good. I especially like the chocolate truffle cake.  In fact, I love the truffle cake - its kind of amazing and I have been thinking about it all week.
