Out of all the bars in Omaha this is one of the most unique. I was very impressed by their bar display. It fits the arcade theme perfectly, with the arcade style backlit signs above their impressive display of liquor. Â The selection of beer was also impressive, very unique beers on tap with some cool looking taps. As far as arcade games go, they had some awesome classics as well as a few newer arcade games. I had a great time playing and hanging out. Definitely will be back
Review Source:I really do love coming to Beercade. I always have a lot of fun playing all of the arcade games. That having been said, I am disappointed at how run down a lot of the machines are. They should really have a lot of those fixed or consider replacing them. Otherwise it is always fun playing old school games and having some cheap drinks!!
Review Source:Beercade was just OK. They have a pretty good beer selection that can't help being dwarfed by certain others in the immediate neighborhood. There is a decent selection of games to play, including my personal favorites, Pac-Man and Tetris (skee ball appeared to be dead, though D:). I even made it to the high score list on Tetris although don't ask me to prove it because I couldn't figure out how to change the initials to MMS. BUT my cocktail (Princess Peach) was honestly lousy and tasted mostly like stale ice with a little peach schnapps. Hmmm. It was also pretty dead inside but it was like midnight on a Monday so I probably should have expected that! Definitely a decent place to have a beer/play some games but for more elaborate evenings I would head elsewhere.
Review Source:Welcome one and all to the absolute greatest place on Earth. I've had a rough morning where I dealt out like 5 negative reviews to vent my frustrations with places, now I need to give something positive, so I went to my favorite spot in Omaha.
Atmosphere: This is a theme bar, and theme bars demand you respond to their theme, so I'll start there. I'm a gamer, exactly 26 years old at the time of posting. That's 26 years of Mario, Halo, Sonic, Mass Effect, Street Fighter, all of it. One of my greatest laments is that there are no more arcades. I tell my wife this weekly. And lo and behold, one day, there's an arcade! They've got all of the essential machines; if you remember it fondly, it's here. Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Area 51, I even held the high score on Galaga for a while, which is quite the milestone for me. Bucket list, you're going down.
Drinks: Well it is a bar. Great drinks. Seriously, great. Lots of wide variety, alcohol is prominently displayed and well organized, great beers on tap including my personal drink of choice, Boulevard Wheat. Decently priced. If I had one complaint? The layout, while visually appealing, requires them to make special trips around the bar area to get what you want. Not real efficient, but that has yet to stop me from getting my drink in good time, so I really can't complain.
Layout: It's kind of a cramped room, I'll be honest. I was there opening night and it was like being in a mosh pit, but with fewer drunk people. (Rimshot.) That being said, I don't really know how they could lay it out differently to fix it. I suppose we all start drinking there more often and they buy the place next door and expand? Other than that, I'll shut up and deal with the crowding.
Cons: Layout which I mentioned. Street parking in Benson on a Friday night. I wish they'd rotate the machines in and out a bit more, but they've only been open a few months so it's really not that big of a deal. Not much else to complain about.
Overall: Chill crowd that's easy to mingle with, great drinks, great part of town, great idea. Keep up the good work gang.
What a concept! What an execution! I can only imagine that the Beercade is the brain child of a few friends talking about their favorite things, when one just happened to say, 'well why don't we combine them?' And the Beercade concept was born!
Pluses, of which there are many:
- A huge array of arcade games, the only drawback of which is the necessity of quarters, ranging from pinball to pacman to skee ball.
- A fantastic selection of local, large and craft beers, putting most of my favorite local pubs to shame.
- Quick service, a lively attitude and a buzzing energy that make it a great stop on a pub crawl.
I would love to see what other fusion businesses could be made following the Beercade 'let's just mix them' concept. Because Beercade does it so, so well.
After stepping foot inside Beercade, I wondered why this hasn't been done before. Â As Kyle states, it is a cool concept and it is executed well. Â They have a number of video games from my youth and a pretty decent selection of beer. Â They even had some muchies should you get hungry. Â My only complaint is that I wish this place was a bit bigger so it could have a wider variety of games.
Review Source:This is one of my favorite bars in Omaha and a must stop for anyone that comes into town, even for a brief moment. Â They have around 20 taps with GOOD beer. Â The cheapest you will find is a $3 PBR and prices do not go much higher than $5 or $6 on the rest of the good stuff. Â The bar is fully loaded with all the gins, vodkas, and whiskeys you would need. Â They also have a hotdog, chips, and PBR special for $5. Â The happy hour is 2 to 6 and it is simply, buy a draft beer and get $1 in quarters in return.
As far as the atmosphere...they have roughly 10 stools at the bar and one long community table. Â It is definitely not a place you go to to chat and that was by design. Â They have a ski-ball table upfront, 4 pinball tables on the east (bar) side of the establishment, and roughly 15 to 20 video games that line the wall. Â Last time I checked, they had 76 arcade games. Â They rotate the games every couple of weeks, so the games do not get old. Â The games are all their original prices and not up-charged like Dave and Busters. Â The games are a mixture of classics from the late 70's to the mid 90's. Â It is like returning to the Tilt or Aladdin's Castle...but better because there is beer!
This place is great. The drinks are very reasonable and they have a fantastic selection on draft beers and all sorts of booze. That being said the best part of this whole place are the old school games. Most are only a quarter and just as fun as they were 20 years ago. It can get a little cramped in there at night. Its a very nice change from the usual Omaha scene.
Review Source:It's love.
The design, drinks, bartenders, crowd and games (obviously) all make for a very unique and enjoyable experience. It's like the classier version of playing video games in a friend's basement.
If you're actually interested in playing though, I'd recommend getting there a bit earlier in the evening before the place fills up with game lurkers and barflies.
Pretty cool concept. And fairly well executed.
There is a great beer selection, so points there. The game selection is mostly "classic" games or at least "classic era" for lack of a better grasp on the gamer lingo.
In addition to the dozen or so video consoles there are a few pinball machines and a skee ball game! Some note able games (for my taste) were original PAC Man, Asteroids and Galaga.
Definitely a spot worth stopping into if a good beer and some quarter fed fun are a winning combo for you!
