Enjoy this place a lot, except for this time around.  The bartendress that served me this day was obviously focused on the men in the bar.  I watched her continuously ask the men at the bar if they needed another drink.  I, on the other hand, had to wave her down to catch her eye.  I am really a patient patron of any restaurant or bar especially if it's packed and busy.  However, there were 8 people at the bar, and maybe another 15 at the most sitting at the high tables.

At the end of my "meal" and drinks it took me 3 attempts to catch her attention as she stood at the bar talking to another worker.  Really??

At the end of the day I know I'll come back.  But probably with a guy or hope for a male bartendar.  They've been kind enough to give me equal treatment.

Used to come here before the remodel. Gone is the divey atmosphere (and prices) but I'm super happy the pizza is as awesome as it ever was and the Avacado tempura was delicious. Service was awesome, beer selection is fantastic.  Miss the old dive bar appropriate happy hour selection and prices but it won't keep me away.

The Bench is a weird place. It's a sports bar, but the layout is so open that it feels like you're walking into a warehouse. It can get pretty loud because of the jukebox, so you may need to sit closer to the people in your party to hear them. That being said, I really like the place. The servers are friendly and the food is pretty awesome. I've had a couple burgers, sandwiches and appetizers, and I've been pleased with all of them. So know what you're walking into when you go here. If you want some pretentious place that only serves craft beer and gourmet food, you're barking up the wrong tree.

St. Patty's Day was my first time checking out The Bench, although I was told from my fiance that years ago it used to be a bar that let parents & their kids inside from little league practice.  I really enjoyed our short time at The Bench, the inside of the bar was cute, lots of TV's, plenty of seating and Buzztime Trivia. I liked the modern decor and the menu looked good, carnitas pulled pork sliders & fish and chips looked delicious. We just stopped in for a few green beers, our bartender Amber was super friendly, she even gave me a cute shamrock Budweiser necklace before I left. I love souvenirs so I was already hooked on the place, haha. I'm excited to go back soon and try the food.

Major revamp of the place. Doesn't even look like the same bar! But that's a great thing. Much more upscale than its predecessor bar under the same name but they kept the good happy hour prices and the laid back vibe. Came here with a group of friends and had a great time. Their cheap drinks and Saturday night happy hour specials ($5 for a large beer and $4 martinis) gave us a nice buzz in good company. Also had some food this time....ordered their guacamole burger with a side of onion rings. Pretty good for bar food. Good service as well. They have several tvs for entertainment, a pool table and an updated juke box. As for the crowd....not packed like a trendy bar but not dead either. I'd come back here again.

I came here on New Years Eve, I would say I was quite impressed with the look of the place (you wouldn't think it would be nice by the outside). I had heard from friends I went with that it had been recently remodeled. The food was good, little pricey especially the wings...it seems like they would be bigger or better for what they cost. The pretty brunette working was really nice and cheery, never had to wait for a beer, even helped us arrange our table when more friends showed up. They handed out free champagne when it got close to midnight. I'm planning on going again for the Superbowl.

    Overall:

Service-pretty girls really on the ball
Food-good but a little pricey, but not too bad
    Atmosphere-really nice, LOTS of tv's
Drinks-poured generously and shots were great(not bad on the pricing there either)
    Parking-very small lot

I went here one Sunday to watch a Raiders/Bronco game. The place was insanely packed, but luckily my friend and I snagged the last two seats at the bar.  I had several drinks (which I wish would have packed more of a punch) but they were tasty, for the most part.  I ordered the Havarti Mushroom Burger, which was really yummy, and my boyfriend thought his French Dip w/ Pot Roast and Crispy Fried Onions was uh-may-zing!

Unfortunately, the service was a little lacking. The girl behind the bar was busy chatting with regulars as well as her coworkers and acted as though I was inconveniencing her whenever I would order another round.

A couple of other things that put a damper on my experience were really customer-related and at no fault of the actual establishment: 1) a family brought their kids in and were off playing pool while their hellspawn ran amok, unsupervised.  The other issue was that some customers obviously lacked common courtesy, and were sitting at tables and in booths by themselves when it was a packed house. Would've been nice if they would've moved to the bar and offered up the more spacious seating arrangements to groups of people that were clearly without a place to sit.

I'm not sure if I'd go back other than to watch a game...but then again, it's called The Bench Sports Bar for a reason!  Seems like they're catering to their target demographic and doing a decent job at it, as well.

P.S. Parking in this plaza is a [EXPLETIVE].  Make sure you get there early or park over in the Albertsons lot and walk over.

Pretty sick little sports bar to catch the game on Sunday. They have a few outdoor tables but the best TVs are inside. Only thing that prevented me from being a fan was that the TV were set and couldn't be changed. There were mostly Eagles and Ravens fans in the bar first and they had the damn Oakland game on BOOOOO! I mean I understand its the closest local team but they SUCK! Eagles Ravens game was on the smallest TV in the place in the corner where the arcade games were. LAME! Eagles RAvens was by far the best game on at the time...give the people what they want!! OH, the coffee here is SHIT better off just getting a shitty light beer.

First time in and from what I was told the place is much improved from what it was.  Place looks great but just didn't have much life to it.  Kind of quiet and half the tv's were playing reality shows or poker while the MLB playoffs were on without sound. It was a Tuesday so maybe it's just a slow night and my timing was poor...I'll give it another try at some point.

When I first came here prior to the remodeling I thought this place was a dump, but homie. You could easily show up and enjoy a casual drink and chit chat with the bartender(s).

After the remodeling was complete, i was amazed. This place got a major makeover! It looks and feels so clean now, there are more places to sit and more bartenders/waitresses. Not only that but now there's a pool table, a techy jukebox/photobooth and tons of tvs!

First off, the pizza - amazing. If the "expert" is the one making it, the same guy who transitioned from pre-makeover, then you're set. Get ready for some pizzamazingess. Two, the fries - im a huge fry guy so my fries MUST be top notch - these fries met that requirement. The rest of the food is not too bad.. pretty good when you're hungry, reasonable portions.

Prices - meh, could be better .. happy hour isn't that great.. but i come here for the environment, location (i live right next door) and the staff friendliness - once you become a regular then you're in.

    PS. There's 18+ TVs.

OMG what a world of difference! They recently remodeled the bench and it is sooo much nicer. i am not embarassed to come here anymore haha. Nice modern televisions and the jukebox is a modern ipod version with lots of music. Drinks are a good price and generously poured and the food now has definetly improved although still best when intoxicated. love their onion rings and boneless wings. So glad they decided to do the remodel!

I went to check out the new place after seeing something in the register about it, but wasn't really impressed.  It looks great, but the service was very lack luster from the big breasted blonde, who acted like I was inconveniencing her.  And I wasn't too keen on the prices.  I went in for happy hour and their happy are prices are a joke.  There are MUCH better deals at other local bars.  Other local bars have 1/2 drink and app specialist, and dollar beer nights, so the Benches happy hour price of $1.00 off my beer id s crappy let down.  I don't know about you but I can't just throw my money around in this economy, so I'll get a better deal somewhere else.

I also met the owner, who is a douche and jerk.  He was drunk and acting cocky like he bought this place for his own personal hang out..

This isn't your local friendly bar, and  the prices are too high, the service is rude and there is a cocky owner hanging out all over the place leering at the cute ladies like a perv.

So, we came here last minute for a going away get together to do some Karaoke. The only good thing I have to say about this place is that it smelt clean. Other then that, it was boring, no one was in here besides the party I was there for. Just overall run down.

The only reason I think I will ever go back to The Bench is because it's the closest bar to me. That's all they really have got going for them in my opinion.

The vibe is strange when you walk in, definitely a dive bar. Very dark like they are trying to save money on electricity or something. If you take a close look at all of the barstools you will notice that not one of them match any other one there. They have creepy neon light signs that haven't been cool since 1993.

They have very cheap beer which explains the old unfriendly crowd that stares at you the entire time you are there. These "Regulars" are just a bunch of drunk old men that are desperately trying to hook up with the bartenders that are also extremely desperate for attention. The food is average. For a place that promotes their "award winning pizza", I think I would rather hit up Dominos.

Peace out "The Bench" (Formerly Mikey's), I won't miss ya.

If i had to find one word to describe the Bench, it would be cozy.
I went to the laundry mat 2 stores down in this plaza and decided to have a drink while I wait for my clothes to be done.

The lady bartender was very sweet, didn't talk to much or seem to hustle. A real people's person, in my opinion. The drink specials are really cool and they have plenty of mainstream beer on tap. The drinks I had ended up being way cheaper than I thought, so I left a happy camper.

I would suggest this place if you're really impatient person at the laundry mat (quick laundry mat) and chill out at this cozy sports bar.

Last call for alcohol is at 10:30 and they close at 11 on weekdays.

Last call for food is 10:15pm every night.

Medium pizza is $5.99 on tues and Wednesday, 10.00 other nights.

My mixed drink (cactus cooler) was $6.25 and good but small.

No air conditioning which sucks, lots of fans tho so it's somewhat cool.

Pool hall is on one side, bar on the other

They also have fooseball, darts, ping pong, and a few arcade games.

Booths as well as tables for eating.

By far the coolest thing is the patio. Very nice to drink out there when it's hot, saw someone with a well behaved dog out there.

Generally clean restrooms. The one that says girls only floods easily (my friend says I'm not sure from experience) so use the co-Ed bathroom by the pool tables -  it's clean.

Beers on tap: new castle, coors light, bud light, budweiser, Stella, amber bock, and widmer hefenweizen.

Jukebox that only takes cash no cards

The bar itself does take cards

They have those megatouch video card game things on the bar

Lindsay is a great bar tender

Overall this place would be considered a clean dive bar to me. I like it a lot and I'll be back a lot. Also in the same parking lot is vendome liquor which has a lot of unique alcohol. I should go leave a review for them right now!!

Don't listen to the one star reviews just try it out for yourself

A friend of mine works here, so I'll leave most observations to myself.

Coming here, I felt like I was being unfaithful because I go to Brian's. The two places definitely have different vibes.

Not as many TVs as Brian's, but it's a little larger and feels divey.

The food at Brian's is a lot better and a little cheaper.

    They have free wi-fi.

I'll come by once in awhile just to say 'Hi' to my friend.

Okay, so you don't bring a date here (guys - I am talking to you), but their food is actually okay. And their french dip sandwiches can actually be pretty good. Now, in case you think that I am way too girly for ordering a french dip in a sports bar - back off. The french dip sandwich is their "thing" and it is pretty tasty (especially with extra meat as it can sometimes be a little skimpy). Even better - they deliver. So, if you aren't feelin' a sports bar, you don't have to - just let the food come to you.

Seriously it's not much in the looks department (I knocked down 2 stars for decor) but if you order the pot roast sandwich with provolone cheese you will leave very happy.

Usually I am the one in my relationship that does the food introductions, I always find the new spots or share old favs with my guy but he took me here on our first date...yes it was soooo romantic but seriously it sealed the deal that we were food compatible. The beer was cheap and cold and the sandwich was delicious.

Like my mom's pot roast but better set between warm french bread and with a dip on the side? Come on, yes I kissed on the first date and he can thank Mikey's! Partially..haha

Food wise we're going on 4 stars easy.  Give it a chance.  I hear the pizza is very tasty.

Used to be a fun place to karaoke for a few hours n maybe have a drink. No longer do they have Karaoke on Friday. Not the cleanest but good service, friendly waitresses. I have only been a couple times to karaoke. The last time was probably my last. They only do Karaoke on Friday, just  on Saturday now. It's no wonder why. The place was empty.

We used to be big Mikey's fans in college.  Cheap beer, lots of specials, and a pretty decent crowd of regulars.  Not to mention it was walking distance from quite a few apartment complexes in the area.
The bartenders knew our group and most of us by name (or at least our faces).  The demise of my experience began when I met "Mikey" a couple of times and he was, well we'll just say, not very nice to us.  Of course, he had no idea who we were, but we had been in at least once a week (if not 3 times a week) for about two years.  Then, some of the new bartenders began over charging us.  Needless to say, we don't frequent it often any longer. I still miss two of the bartenders and one of the managers, but that's about it.  Once bigs moved closer we moved our visits over there.

Mikey's has these crazy pro athletic sports figures outside on the bar patio. It's a good thing that his food doesn't taste anything like the sculptures on the patio. That being said you have to try the pepperoni dippers, or whatever they call them. They are fattening, but freaking good! The sandwhiches are grindable for sure. Drinks are stiff, and the you can catch almost any game there. Check it out after a CSF game!

Beer selection is crap.  I'm from Oregon, so I'll admit to being a beer snob, but Bud, Miller and Coors?  You really can't blame me.  Oh, wait, I forgot, they have Bud Light, too, in case you're watching your figure.  No, the Amber Bock on tap didn't make up for it, that's crap beer, too.  Pizza was so-so, and they got my order wrong.  The lady next to me at the (tiny) bar sent her food back.  The bartender was more interested in fixing her broken Lee Press-On Nails than making sure I had beer in front of me, and the waitress in the restaurant section (they have a separate "fun and games" section with a bigger bar) was too busy visiting with some friends of hers at one of the tables and eating off their plates to pay attention to the other patrons.

The place does have a couple things going for it.  Everyone was friendly, a couple of the waitresses were nice to look at, and the Pub Quiz going on looked like fun, but none of these made up for the beer selection or food.  I guess if you're stuck at the laundromat next door sprucing up the duds for another working week it beats dodging banshee kids screaming in a foreign language while you wait out the spin cycle, but other than that I'd spend your time and money elsewhere.

Mikey's is great. It's very convenient for me and I've been going for years. I went to celebrate with my boyfriend last night and we had the Chicken Alfredo pizza... wow. I was a little hesitant at first but it was UNbelievable! The beers are huge and quite well worth it!

    Soo Mikey's you say?

I was introduced to this place by my dear old friend Robby (shout out, heeeey) during my short stint in an FJC Espanol class. It was, well, what you can expect from a Junior College recommendation: cheap beer and simple good food.

Needless to say, I became a fan immediately. Thursday dollar beer nights pretty much solidified that for me -- not to mention the CHEESE Bread and jalapeno poppers. They have a pizza kitchen right there so the pizza and cheese bread are really unbeatable. The $1 beers are in the small cups, but hey, it's $1 beer night.  Don't be a cheap, complaining b*stard.

The crowd is another story....you basically have your mixed-bag of patrons from those young local boys who followed a VERY winding rode to college to the older gents (I use that term loosely) who well, let's just admit it, may or may not have a drinking problem. Great to go in groups; if you're a single and even semi-attractive female be sure to bring some protective buds along.

Great for a casual, local night. They even have big screens to watch a good game, pool table and some sort of hunting game.

Oh and I almost forgot! The bathrooms are hit or miss. Of the times I've been there, the ladies b-room was wonderfully stopped up and unflushable. If you ask the manager nicely, he may let you into the secret bathroom off to the side room.

And oddly, this place closes at 11 pm (at least on Thursdays). If you're still rarin' to party, drop by Kelly's Korner Tavern just down the street.

A big fan of Mikey's, it's my dive bar of choice.  They have "trivia nights" on Fridays (our team is the beer belly hoes" and all the teams have similiar names.  The food is excellent and the prices can't be beat.  They also deliver, which I'm stoked on.  I used to live next door so I've been there at least 50 times, never seen a bar fight, and actually little league teams show up on occasion.  The people who've worked there for a long time are very cool, i can't speak for the occasional bad hire,  cuz there's been a few, but i really like the place.  My brother's work meets there every other friday.  I'd recommend trying the dips (french dip, london broil) and the pizza is excellent.

If you're single on a Friday night and looking for girls, can't say I'd recommend it, but if you're just looking to have a good time, i can.  Not to mention there are girls that show up, but I wouldn't throw on a collared shirt and go to Mikey's.

Also, vendome liquor is  across the street, love the staff and selction of alcohol, probably second only to BevMo and not so corporate.

PS the picture is a horrible way to describe the bar. what is that ?

A friend and I decided to try this place after passing by it everyday on my way home. When we first got there, it wasn't crazy crowded but it was busy. There were no seats in the bar and we couldn't get service. So we left.

A few weeks later we decided to give it another try one late afternoon while doing a bar crawl. It wasn't crowded so we were able to get a table. Staff was friendly, drinks were reasonable. They make a good surfer on acid.  We didn't order a pitcher but all pitchers had an ice compartment down the middle to ensure cold beer, which is pretty cool, nothing like warm beer as u finish up the last glass.

We ordered the Mikeys special pizza to help obsorb the alcohol of the day. The onions were still raw with burnt edges. I love onions on my pizza but can they be a little more cooked? Pizza tasted just better than frozen pizza, which doesn't say much. 3 stars are more so cause the food but the drinks make up.

There are TVs around so I'm sure its a good place to watch a game. I would come back, but not for the pizza...

Restrooms were clean but a little weird when they open up directly in front of the pool tables, so I would caution those playing pool, you never know what surprise u can get.

As long as we are calling this place "Mikey's Sports Bar" and not "Bar & Grill" or "Restaurant & Bar", etc I'm offering a generous 3/5...It best described as an "A-OK" sports bar...local games on the TV's, a full bar, specials during Lakers & Ducks games and an unpredictible crowd...one night it will be college-aged, the next it's 40-50 year-olds singing along with 70's classic rock songs as they play on the Internet-based jukebox.

Beer were good, cocktails were generously poured...Food was literally drunk food...greasy pizza, blah...

Cheap and inviting. Mikey's is an awesome place to get affordable drinks and their food isn't bad either. They have specials on pitchers of domestic beer anytime the Dodgers, Angels or Ducks play. The pitchers are around $9 normally but can be as low as $6.75 when on special. They serve sandwiches, pizza and wings and have a pool table, dart board, (ghetto) shuffle board and some arcade games. They have karaoke on Saturday nights and trivia on Fridays, which is awesome.

When I first walked into this place, I thought it was pretty cool.  If you don't want to get all dressed up and just want to have a beer or two, this would be a good place to try.   I went on a Friday night and it was not very crowded.  They have pool and shuffleboard.

Ok so I order a pint of stella.  They charged me $4.52. What is up with the two cents?  Why not charge me 4.50 or 5 bucks even?   This may not seem like a big deal but it was just odd to me.  But the bartender took forever making change of my $20 bill and while I was waiting, I got hit on by a middle-aged creepster who was going through some type of mid-life crisis with bad breath.  After that I stuck to miller lites which were a nice and easy $2.50 each.
