Cool decor, was expecting a bistro & not a bar/restaurant when I ambled on in. Clean, attractive and modern, it has the looks. I was there for a lunch & was super impressed by all 30 beer taps. Most of them were microbrews & that was a cool feature. Ordered a salad, it was okay but a bit bland. Other customers food looked good, so maybe it is worth a shot. I sat at the bar as there was no clear method of seating. The bar tender was nice & sincere but was more preoccupied with tasking (moving boxes?) than servicing. No clear waitresses for the tables, but I guess this place is new & the management is still finding itself.
All around, this place has potential to be really cool. I think the low 2-stars are a bit harsh; this place offers more. I would like to rank it 3.5 but would not go to 4 stars because I was not super impressed with the Cobb salad.
I was very excited waiting for this place to open. Â It was originally going to be called Bentley's Bar and Grill, but had to change the name due to silly East Longmeadow rules. Â It is definitely much more of a bar than a bistro. Â It is so LOUD in there. Â The decor is great, but they really should have thought twice before removing all the ceiling tiles. Â It amplifies every conversation, to the point where after leaving and stepping outside I felt like I just left a concert. Â The food was good, and if my grade was just for the food I would say 3.5 stars. Â I had steak with loaded mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Â I also ordered a side salad, and thought it was weird when the waitress didn't ask me what kind of dressing. Â It came with some kind of vinaigrette which was excellent. Â My steak was a tad over cooked, more medium than medium rare, but very tasty. Â The potatoes had big chunks of bacon in them, but the bacon was chewy rather than crispy, so I didn't really care for it. Â My wife had a shrimp Po' boy which she thought was excellent. Â The fries she didn't really care for; she said they were tasteless. Â Our friend had a burger (they have several different burgers) and she liked her meal a lot. Â Bentley's has a very large beer selection. Â My wife tried a cider on tap and our friend had a raspberry beer, both to their liking. Â Dessert was definitely a highlight. Â We each ordered our own, 1 cupcake, 1 snickers cheesecake and 1 chocolate covered bacon sundae. Â The cupcake and cheesecake were amazing. Â The sundae was 1 2-person serving of ice cream (it looked like a full pint) but the bacon was way too smoky. Â It was fun to try. Â Overall, I may return for lunch, but until they get the volume situation fixed I will steer clear of dinner.
