I love it here. Never had a bad meal since we started going back in February. Great, great service and delicious seasonal specials. It also helps that we live within walking distance :) My husband, born and bred in Mayfair, can't get enough of their cheesesteaks! Says it's the best he's ever had.

Newly renovated, very nice inside. Owner clearly cares about making the place great- awesome food(try anything- it's all good), solid brew selection, nice service. Very comfortable for a drink with friends or an early dinner with the fan.

The service is more than awesome.
    The food tastes great.
The interior is fun, yet not childish.
    It's just....comfortable.

Ok, I'm inclined to think that there are just a few local-yocals/rotten apples. The sort that think Texas is a country. Same goes for some of the clientele. The sort that make ethnocentric comments loud enough for me to hear because they heard me say my son's name, 'Omar.' (Does anybody realize it's a fairly international name not reserved solely for Black Americans and people from Arabic-speaking countries?)

I digress. There are a number of super sweet ladies that serve food/tend bar and really, I've had some awesome dishes here as of late--crab quesadilla and a creamy pesto pasta number with shrimp to be exact.

    Surprisingly good local pub food!

We turned up early (5:45pm) on a Tuesday evening with groupon in hand.  The place has been fitted out pretty nicely for a suburban pub.  Service was prompt and friendly as we seated ourselves at one of the tables.  There were a couple of people at the bar having a drink, and by the time we left, a few of the tables were occupied.  It was a little noisy as people were talking, but you don't really go to a pub for an intimate dinner I guess!

We tried the southern burger, a crab cake appetizer and a serve of sweet potato fries.  The burger came out a little over the medium rare requested, but I was surprised that they cared to ask, so am prepared to let that slide.  The crab cake was delicious - well seasoned and with a good ratio of filler to crab meat (i.e. heavily weighted in favour of the crab!), and came with a well-dressed salad on the side.  The sweet potato fries were house cut with skin on but still a little chewy even though they were fried until they were pretty dark.  On the other hand, the fries that accompanied the burger were great - thick cut and perfectly crisp on the outside.

Great value with the groupon, and not too shabby without it either.

My Second time at Bernie's was this week; first time was when they opened months ago --- much better  now than when it first opened. One of the better burgers i have had in months ...juicy large burger with a good roll (roll not too thick or dry or cakey and lets you enjoy the burger) the regular spices they season the burger with help elevate the whole experience ---very, very good. Nice clean pleasant place with enrergetic wait staff (the bartender handles the tables too but in  cowded bar the two did a good job.

Purchased a Groupon and went here with some co-workers for lunch.  It was very nice....quiet, clean, and the food was good....the veggie wrap and fries especially.  We'll be going back again!

A small local bar / restaurant at the end of a mini strip mall type building in downtown Oreland.  We've been there 5 or 6 times now since they opened.  Food is definitely above average for pub food.  The burgers usually are cooked exactly how you want them (i.e. there's a difference between medium rare and medium).  Crispy chicken salad and Wedge salad, as well as the 8 spice chicken sandwich are all really delicious.  Huge TVs probably make this a good place to watch sports.

Service can be hit or miss - and if you go toward the end of happy hour / beginning of dinner it's usually miss.  Around 5-6pm there seems to be only one bartender doing everything - from bar, to dinner tables, to bussing.  I sat at the bar the other night waiting for my first drink for a good 10 minutes before she had a chance.  Owner really needs to get her a runner or bar back that starts at 4 and can help triage empty glasses and the incoming dinner crowd.

Beer selection is OK (well, by today's standards it's poor, but it's Oreland...)  The usual macro junk plus a Victory, Sam Adams, Guiness and a Yards.  Bartenders know nothing about beer and couldn't even tell some other patrons what Leinenkugel Shandy was (any shandy is beer & lemonade).   What strikes me as odd about this is that the interior decor has lots of really nice and unique British ale and pub signs - yet nothing like that is available.  There's only 8 taps, so IMHO they should add another tower and give the servers daily beer training if they want to competed in the upscale craft beer bar market.

Oh, it's also a cell phone dead zone - so much so I almost wonder if they have a jammer in use inside.  If not, free WiFi would be a great addition here.

Impressive! Looks (and smells) a heck of a lot better than it used to. Not that we didn't enjoy it as JR's, or Connell's, but this is a complete change - for the better.

Check it out. Do yourself a favor and try their burgers.

What a pleasant surprise!  Purchased a Groupon and discovered Bernie's.

A smallish "pub" in the expected sense of the word.  Bernie's is a long narrow space with the bar running it's length on one side with a row of tables across it.

She tried the amaretto martini (yum).  The food:  nachos were okay, crab cakes were pretty good (interesting dressing on the salad), hand carved cheese steak was awesome (but a little salty), fries were perfect.

Clean, newly remodeled, decent crowd for an early Saturday evening, noise levels were find.  Great prices.

Parking was full in the front, but they have a huge lot in the rear.

    We'll be back.

Bernie's is a small local bar with a decent bottled beer selection.  The bar runs the length of the interior of the building and they have several tables on the opposite
    side of the bar.

There isn't a ton of room inside but its a good spot to grab a beer and some food with a few friends.  There is parking out front and a lot in the rear.

Went back two more times and this place has been consistently very good.  Nice crowd.  Good service.  Good music.  We had delicious homemade soups, wings, burgers, sliders, chicken parm sandwich and potato skins.  Had a refreshing Kenzinger draft.  This is an all around great place and even though it is a bar it is extremely kid friendly and has a children's menu.
