$28 breakfast for two people.
We ordered:
French Toast
Bacon
Smoked salmon Benedict w hashbrowns
Lemon danish
Apple Juice
Cup of coffee
The french toast was decent. French Toast doesn't come with anything. They charge extra for a side of bacon (2 pieces).
The eggs benedict was decent.
The hashbrowns were horrible. (Extremely dry)
I took the lemon danish home and i haven't eaten it yet.
Actually it's a quaint little neighborhood place. I really wish i would have liked it more. The people working there were very friendly. Â I don't really drink coffee and it's a little pricey to come there just for breakfast. Â If the lemon danish wins me over then i'll be back to try other pastries, but if not i'll pass.
They brew their own coffee, and being a coffee connoisseur, I can confidently assure you that this is the BEST coffee I have ever had! The food is exceptional, and everything is made fresh to order. Their food is fresh, healthy and DELICIOUS!
This is cozy spot in Beverly, and is great for gathering with a group of friends or bringing a good book!
The breakfasts are remarkable and the bakery goods are just as tasty! I often pick up a dozen donuts and/or cookies to bring into work, and all my coworkers LOVE it when I come with Beverly Bakery treats!
I have been wanting to ty this place for at least 8 months now. What was I waiting for? I ended up with a random Friday off and headed over there this morning. Parking seemed to be really easy with plenty of street parking and a side lot off Western.
I noticed everyone raved about the coffee here and they were right. I went with the smooth blend and it was good. Our server was so sweet and in chatting with her learned they were recently featured on Chicago's Best. It seems to have brought people out of the woodwork because this place was packed for a Friday. Every employee was very friendly and helpful to new faces.
I ordered the Beverly benedict with seasoned potatoes. I'm not normally a huge fan of hashbrowns, but these were awesome. I was very pleased with my benny and enjoyed the hollandaise sauce as well (I'm picky about hollandaise). I grabbed a chocolate donut on the way out for later (it didn't last long) and it was delicious. My only regret is not buying more. They offer a very extensive menu- This isn't just a bakery. Omelets, pancakes, french toast, the list goes on and on. I can't wait to go back!
This place was really cute! Â I loved the vibe and feel of the entire bakery. Â It was pretty busy for a Wednesday morning too! Â My fiance and I got breakfast - I, eggs benedict, him a skillet. Â Our food was good - not spectacular - but tasty. Â The coffee was great, this is definitely a good place to get a good cup of coffee. Â We got some doughnuts on the way out and they were okay, I prefer DD's vanilla long johns to theirs, but they were still good.
Overall, food gets 3/5, but since I loved the decor I gave it a 4/5.
This place has the most impressive coffee machine I've ever seen, and they know how to use it. Â I'm not a huge coffee guy, but the black stuff at Beverly Bakery & Cafe is notably spectacular. Just the thing after a raucous Saturday night down south.
The food is hearty and as good as you would get in the more pretentious north side brunch spots. I had the Crab Cake Benedict - the red pepper hollaindaise was really unique, rich and tasty. I had some of my buddies' Salmon Omelet, also awesome. It had a huge piece of salmon in it (I appreciate the lack of skimping), and the fish was nice and fresh.
The place is cozy, was busy but not crammed when I was there on a Sunday morning, and is definitely oozing with old school Beverly charm.
And seriously that coffee machine looks like something Willy Wonka would have at his house.
Short and sweet--but, hey, that's they way we like it. Sometimes these are the best breakfasts because I can actually engage in conversation instead of writing down what five to seven hungover, goofy people are spewing while I try to snag a few mouthfuls of whatever I ordered. And Beverly Bakery & Cafe was conducive to conversation. It doesn't hurt to have fresh, strong coffee and tasty breakfast. The service was good. Our waitress was cool. The girl at the cash register could be a bit more positive, though. She seems to not want to be there on Sunday mornings. I hope she reads this. Cheer up, kid.
Anyway, 4.5 Brent Faces for Beverly Bakery & Cafe. Very strong rating.

I have just recently been married. We are big advocates of shopping locale. So we had our wedding cake made here. let m tell you we could not have been any happier. The service was first rate. The guests just loved the cake. The food and beverage director said it was the best cake ever served at their facilty.
Review Source:This place is great! As soon as you walk in someone is asking you if you need help. If you look like no one is helping you then you will be asked again which is nice. They all wear smiles even when they are busy. You walk in and feel at home. They say thank you and you feel appreciated. I had a chocolate cupcake and asked if they had any without frosting, the young lady went in the back to check for me. And they did. It was scumptdiliumptious if that's a word. It was so soft and melted in my mouth. It had a great flavor, not like those "designer cupcake" places like sprinkles, magnolia bakery etc. This will be my place to get cupcakes for any occasion. I ordered a dozen cupcakes and they turned out beautifully. Picture will be uploaded. I love this place. Please stop by and get your sugar fix. I also tried a mini bundt cake which was fantastic. They have other pastries as well that I'm scared to try because I know I will become addicted!
Review Source:Beverly is adorable. Tree-lined streets, row upon row of gorgeous houses, friendly faces. However, you'd think the dining and shopping options would be way better with all the affluent folks and yuppies around here! I don't get it...where are the co-ops, the ethnic food restaurants, the specialty food shops??? That is why I was SO PLEASED when I had brunch at Beverly Bakery for the first time. Their specials are seriously some of the best meals I have eaten in my entire brunch-eating life. The coffee is wonderful. The servers are friendly. I there were more restaurants around here like Beverly Bakery.
Review Source:Beverly Bakery & Cafe is a delightful cafe for breakfast or lunch. Â They have a vast amount of pastries to choose from. Â It is a cozy place to gather with friends for morning coffee or lunch. Â Their breakfast is very delicious, and they have a wide menu to choose from. Â Â I will be going back for more.
Review Source:This place is neat because they roast their own coffee beans, and the coffee is good. Â They will ask if you want bold or smooth, I went for the bold which was an Ethiopian blend and it was good...not stellar but very good. Â They also sell coffee by the pound. Â I intended to have breakfast and buy a loaf of bread to take home, but they don't bake bread. Â I thought that to be a bakery you baked bread. Â If you only offer sweets you are a patisserie or pastry shop...well I am digressing. Â The lack of a loaf of freshly baked bread was disappointing. Â The breakfast my dining companion ordered was eggs over with bacon and some waffles. Â It looked okay, we didn't order any sweets, but I had the oatmeal that came with raisins and brown sugar. Â The order was way too much for one person, but what was great was that I was able to get a glass of soy milk (lactose intolerant) which is so lacking at a lot of breakfast places. Â In addition to the oatmeal I ordered a side of fresh fruit, which ended up being some day old watermelon and honeydew melon that had seen better days...you know when them melon begins to look translucent it's been around too long. Â They should not have served it. Â Oh yeah they do the inevitable latte, cafe mocha, cappuccino, thing but I judge coffee by ordering a simple cup of coffee...once it's adulterated it's hard to tell. Â The WiFi was down that day which is one of the other reasons I stopped by, that was disappointing since it was a sort of business meeting. Â The tables and chairs are cheap and not very comfortable, and there are no booths. Â But it is friendly and service is fast. Â I would go back to sample other things on the menu but I don't live in the area, if you do check it out, everyone raves about the donuts so they must be good. Â I prefer yeast donuts so they didn't grab my attention. Â I think it you go order a latte or cappuccino some cake donuts or something from the bakery. Â One patron told me the french toast was excellent. Â Not a bad place for the neighborhood, but I've had just as good a cup of coffee at the Original Pancake House in Hyde Park, and minus the bakery a better breakfast.
Review Source:Since moving to the south side of Chicago, I have hunted for a decent cup of coffee. Â Finally found a place that roasts their own beans. Â Respects taste buds. Â Has a great sitting, reading, computing, surfing, drinking incredible coffee place. Â The breakfast potatoes are wonderful. Â They have baked goods. Â DO NOT start eating the cake donuts - it will be your downfall. Â They never give you enough honey wheat bread - the slices are way to small. Â This place is the bomb - they have 10 types of coffee - five medium roast and 5 dark roasted - the coffee is GREAT. Â Go there.
Review Source:THIS place, is EXACTLY what a neighborhood coffee house and restaurant should be. Always fresh coffee, delicious food, GREAT service, and best of all, an affordable menu. I am here all of the time, and I try something new each day I am there.
I would highly recommend pretty much any of their pastries. There's something about a good, buttery, donut dunked in their Honduras coffee that I just cannot explain. Their food, their service and the coffees are definitely the real deal!
However, parking can be a problem, try to get there early to avoid that.
So good. Excellent for breakfast or lunch with a nice variety of sandwiches, Â plated brunch specials and freshly-made pastries. Plenty of tables for settling in and reading the paper and they have an impressive selection of fresh, gourmet coffees and the tea is a welcome surprise.
Their cupcakes and muffins are scrumptious.  Amazing customer service with virtually no waiting time, regardless of how crowded it is. It's honestly the finest, kindest customer service I've ever received.  I'd have given this five stars, but I wish they had a better selection of  breads and ready-made cakes.
I'll be back for certain. :)
SO DELICIOUS!!!!!! I wish I found this place before, great breakfast and sweets and coffee, well everything!!!! The salmon eggs benidict and salmon omlette is amazing and the coffee is brewed fresh. They have a full bakery and I tried the scones and they were delicious. The service is also great! They prices are very reasonable and you can buy coffee by the pound too.
Review Source:I really want to love this place. I WANT to give it five stars, but I can't. Â In addition to the few times I have eaten here (all good) i have ordered special items from them three times.
The first time it was a cupcake cake for a party when I earned my Masters degree. I have a music degree...the cake had music notes on it, but they were all drawn wrong. Â This may not have bothered anyone else, but if you are getting paid to draw music notes on a cake, make sure they aren't all backwards.
The second time was a couple of years ago when we ordered a smash cake for my daughter's first birthday. Â They spelled her name wrong.
The last time was this past weekend when we ordered 30 cupcakes for my son's birthday party. When my husband went to pick them up (two hours after they were originally scheduled to be picked up) not only were they not ready, it appeared as though they had completely forgotten to make us any cupcakes at all, and ended up grabbing a bunch out of the case. Â We didn't get what we ordered and my husband had to sit and wait while they haphazardly threw together our order.
Does Beverly Bakery make good food/cupcakes? Yes. However in my book it is three strikes and you are out. Â We will not be ordering from them again. :(
PS: Â Posting rants on their FB page about customers doesn't exactly make them a place that I want to visit either.
Wow what a treat this was. The morning of the South Side parade 2012 me and my friend wandered in here after we noticed there we serve breakfast sign. It is a dope little place with there own coffee and many varieties on top of it. They had a special holiday menu but we each just opted to get bacon, eggs, coffee and wheat toast. there wheat bread was amazing. Coffee was top notch and staff wasn't far behind. I highly recommend anyone in the area to drop by.
Review Source:My sister is pursuing a caffeine cruise and we met here to help her with her research.
I arrived late, they had already ordered but the very nice waitress brought me a bowl so I could share their oatmeal. Â I ordered my beverage and even was able to order bananas to go with my bowl of oatmeal. Â The oatmeal was tasty, very filling but just not hot enough for me. Â The cool temperature of the oatmeal didn't stop me from finishing my entire bowl.
The coffee drinks looked wonderful. Â My sister and niece both enjoyed their yummy lattes. Â My cup of tea was nice and HOT! Â Love my tea HOT! Â
They roast their own beans and had a nice variety of coffee. Â They place was comfortable and our waitress was quite nice. Â Next time I would like to try a pasrty.
The caffeine cruise continues...indefinitely.
They roast their own beans? Â Of course I had to check it out! Â It was near where we were having book club...well...near enough.
Great warm place, friendly staff who laughed with us and accommodated cheerfully our every quirky request. Â It seemed silly to just have coffee but we were going to have food at book club. Â Oatmeal to the rescue! Â Not too filling, goes great with coffee and it is absolutely delicious here. Â It is served with brown sugar and raisins and this day was flavored with cinnamon. Â My father would be so proud, we had oatmeal for breakfast.
Our reason for coming was the coffee and it was reason enough. Â My mocha latte and my daughter's latte were perfect. Â Hot, smooth, silky with a kick that said wake up darling, you are drinking some darn fine coffee. Â
Cost: Â Around 3.00
Served in: Â Mug
Preparation: Â Handcrafted
Nice cozy spot for breakfast. Â It's quiet, which makes a great place to get away and read my bible. Â I order the omelette with salmon and cream cheese filling, which can only be described with one word: yum-mo. Â The pastries look heavenly and plenty to choose. Â They also have quite the array of coffee choices, Â I'm not much of a coffee drinker however the aroma is incredible. Â The service is good also.
Review Source:A perfect place to sit for hours and catch up with an old friend. Â The coffee will keep coming many hours after you have overstayed your welcome. Breakfast offerings are pretty basic but is all about the scones. Â The blueberry and cranberry scones are delicious; be sure to have some there and take them to go.
The Beverly Bakery is a wonderfully relaxed cafe with no wait for brunch on a Saturday. Â A lovely alternative to the fast-paced, long-wait, north side brunch.
On-site awesomeness:
Coffee roaster (and they sell their stuff in bins for the weighing)
Bakery (donuts, muffins, scones, etc)
Sit in or take to go: I went to the counter to order my tea and scone, but there are menus at the table for service of breakfast foods.
Lots of locals-- everyone seems to know everyone and is very friendly. Â
I want to be a part of the fun!
The best cafe on the South Side! Â I do not live in Chicago anymore but I still miss them! Â They make amazing coffee no matter what your preference. Â The owners daughter actually makes the best cup but for that you have to go on the weekends or during school holidays. Â Their cupcakes are fantastic especially their chocolate with butter cream icing.
My newest fav thing is their Cinnamon sugar twists. Â They never have very many and they melt in your mouth so make sure to get their early. Â Ordering from here is easy and they are super flexible. Â I have gotten cookies in the shape of pocket protectors and they made it happen really fast. Â
Eating in is another option. Â They have a really nice menu and they are always looking to add things. Â I like their pancakes but I am boring and pretty much come for the amazing coffee. Â Its a great local spot that serves great coffee. Â Does it get any better?? Â I miss it every weekend.
Starbucks what? I always wanted to go in and give it a shot. The last time I ventured in, I was with someone fussy who didn't have an affinity for donuts, muffins or sweet rolls like I do and was too cheap to buy something.
But this time was different, I went up to the display case and saw all the yummy selections available. I went with a blueberry muffin and a cup of Brazilian coffee. The muffin was absolutely delicious and the coffee was nice and smooth. So good because there is nothing worse in this world than coffee that tastes like it's filtered through a dirty gym sock. I will rank this cup as one of the better coffees I have had in awhile.
After the first cup, the owner came around with a second pot of Ethiopian coffee. He was very informed and went into the whole process of how the coffee beans are brewed, etc. I love it when the owners have an appreciation for the product and not just shoving out to the customers.
Overall, it's a really great family run business. I gladly will be back when I'm in the area.
Coffee roasted in house! The day I went, it was wonderful. I could have sat in there drinking it all day (assuming my heart wouldn't explode from the caffeine). I passed a very dreary winter morning here last month eating eggs and potatoes and sipping coffee and reading a book; I don't live in this part of town, but the server seemed to know everybody else that came in and the atmosphere was cheery and warm and a nice break from the January going on outside.
I don't know that I'd go exceptionally far out of my way to stop in here (it's a long trek from West Town), but if I'm anywhere on this side of the city, I'll certainly be treating myself to some more of that coffee.
First time here last Saturday when two of my girlfriends and I arrived hung over and ready for coffee and carbs. From the signs in the window, it appeared that pastries would be our only option, as they advertise homemade (and a generous selection of gluten free) doughnuts, muffins, breads, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to see a concise selection of eggs, omelets, pancakes, potatoes and breakfast sandwiches.
The first cup of coffee was standard, but then the owner walked over to give us a refill, and it was amazing! He described it in detail, talking about Guatemala, etc. I was very grateful that he was so friendly and informative, but I have to admit, I had just a few hours sleep, so I didn't process much of it! Anyway, incredible coffee from that batch!
The homemade hashbrowns were real potatoes, not frozen. They were cut, boiled, then fried with lots of seasoning, so the outside was crispy and the inside was soft and waxy. The pancakes were way better than average, and the food in general felt very fresh and homemade. The owner spoke with us about his use of organic ingredients, and as a side note, there are no peanuts in the whole place, in case anyone has allergies. The owner walked my friend over to the refrigerator to choose some gluten-free products to take home. Staff was super friendly, which more than made up for the sometimes slow service. It was super relaxing and cozy, and I will be back very soon!
SUGAR-FILLED PANIC ROOM
When the South Side parade gets too crazy and you need a break from the action, duck into Beverly Bakery. Â
It's a quaint oasis of calm filled with wonderful pastries and affordable breakfast selections. Â The sounds of drunken revelers are all but blocked out, the bathrooms are immaculate, and you'll feel instantly relaxed. Â
Keep in mind that this is a small family-run establishment so  the kitchen might get overwhelmed if you arrive with a huge group of people.  Just be patient and enjoy the the peace and quiet.
So this weekend, we stopped back in to the Bev Bakery for breakfast. After having a very nice breakfast and on my way to pay the bill, I stopped to check out bread. I was thinking i needed something good for toast (because I LOVE toast...I know, weird). And as I was looking, the owner said he had loaves fresh out of the oven in the back...so he brought me a loaf of Italian STILL WARM!! Mmmmmm sliced it and packaged it and wow was it fantastic!!! Â
Yet another reason to love this family owned place!!
Weeks later I can still taste the fritter/cinnamon roll I ate...and I still have no idea exactly what it was. Â What I do know it *was*, however, was darn tasty. Â Much like Jules and Vincent debating the virtues of canines with good attitudes, BB&C is much the same. Â
That's a compliment, I promise. Â This place has personality. Â And personality goes a long way.
This is a real deal, neighborhood kind of place which belies the truth of its two year (give or take) existence. Â Armed with coffee and baked goods on a cold day in March, sitting here made me feel like an authentic Chicagoan. Â I was waited on by minors (take THAT child labor laws!), ate sweet things my waistline did not need and was guaranteed not to run into a wayward Chad or Trixie.* Â And that's fine with me.
You can keep your Lincoln Park lattes, scones and twitterskypes, Chixie. Â I'll gladly take my Beverly hazelnut-served-in-ceramic, oversized cinnafritter and Sun-Times. Â This place is real. Â And it's real good.
*Shh, I don't think they know Beverly exists.
Started off the Neighborhood Tour last Saturday by warming up with coffee and loading up on carbs at the Beverly Bakery and Cafe. Â I had a hazelnut coffee and a plain scone and both hit the spot perfectly! Â There was plenty of seating and even a large table that could hold the entire group, which I really enjoyed because I was able to get to know my fellow Yelpers. Â
By the look on the staff's faces when the large group came in the door and took over their Bakery, I was not sure how well they would handle so many people. Â Luckily, the staff was very quick with the orders and register (even the 9 year old..is that even legal???) which allowed us plenty of time to enjoy our sweets.
I think the only thing that prevented a 5 star rating was the ambiance. Â With such a nice, family owned place, I think they could spruce up the decor a bit to make it a little more warm and cozy.
By the puzzled looks on customer and staff's faces I could tell they don't usually get packs of people wandering in the store. Me and 9 other Yelpers wandered in here as the first stop of our neighborhood tour to give everyone a chance for a caffeine injection and sugar high.
I prefer sugar over caffeine so I went with an Easter egg shaped sugar cookie. It was good, nothing to write home about, but good. Service was very friendly. I'm not sure, but it seemed like the place was family owned and run. I was impressed by the signs for several gluten-free items they have available for sale.
If you're in the Beverly area and in the mood for some baked goods or breakfast stop in.
Coffee was just OK, cookie was awesome! Staff was kind of delightful...I think a nine year old took my order.
Clean bathrooms, plenty of seating for small parties but if you're with a large group you may need to stake the place out.
Honestly seems like a quaint little place but unless i'm in the area i'm probably not going to make a special trip for the place.
Beverly Bakery & Cafe has your standard bakery selection of muffins, iced cookies, cinnamon buns and the like. My cranberry-nut muffin was incredibly tasty! The service was friendly and happy to see us. I like to see a family business where the whole family gets into the work.
The bathrooms were spotless! But seating was limited for our larger group. If I lived in the area this would probably be a good place for a Saturday morning coffee and pastry while catching up with a friend, but not much else.
A small place with limited seating, but offers up a decent breakfast - french toast using bread they bake there. The oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins is really, really good.
Service is a little slow, as they are busy doing all of the bakery stuff too, so the restaurant part seems a bit incidental, but the people are friendly enough. The menu is not very deep.
The bakery options are slightly old fashioned and traditional - big, awesome cinnamon buns, danishes, big cookies that have a Chicago Bears logo on them, that kind of stuff. Â
A lot of the customers are, uh, older.
