I'm really surprised at some of the reviews here because I had a great time. First of all, the prices are incredible. We ordered two craft drinks (Three Floyds Pride & Joy and Sam Adams Winter, I believe) and it was $6. TOTAL! Anywhere else, a craft beer will run you that amount for just one. That's an immediate win for me. Anytime you can get craft beer that cheap, it's like you've hit a home run.
So this is very much a sports bar. Sports stuff everywhere, TVs showing some basketball games, and a dart board and one of those golf arcade games. My friends and I played some darts for a while and it was a lot of fun. There's a back room where it looked like some people were having a party. Overall, I think it's a good atmosphere. There was a mix of regulars and some younger folk bar hopping (like us). They also have a silly cigarrette machine by the dart board that looks like it's from the 90s. Does anyone still use those? Regardless, I loved this bar and I'll definitely be back.
This is not the same bar from "The Accused" but it is close. I spent a Sunday evening drinking at my favorite Western Avenue bar (Cork and Kerry) when I decided to venture down the street for one last drink. I walked into Dinger's and encountered the Sausage Fest of all Sausage Fests. Seriously, the only woman in the place was the bartender. If I were a woman I would have walked out immediately.
Anyway, a guy who was identified as the owner seemed to be heavily intoxicated. There was also some loud drunken fire lieutenant who kept spontaneously yelling at a friend (at least I presume they were friends). It was creepy. Anyway, not to be intimidated, I ordered a drink. I then ordered another.
I really didn't have any problems. Nobody started a fight. Dinger's is actually huge. There are a lot of tables and the flat screen behind the bar must be 96 inches big. Will I be back? Probably not. There are nicer places on Western to go. I think "Bar Rescue" should be called. This place can be saved.
I was not impressed with this place at all. It has one of those towny-bar feels, kinds dark and creepy. The bar tender was very nice and the drinks were cheap, but those were the only good things. There was a guy there that I'm pretty sure had been drinking since 2PM...they probably should have stopped serving him. I don't think I would go back here.
