Such a unique, delicious restaurant with a fantastic setting in a classic New England town. Service was a tad slow. Server was super nice but a little spacy. However, our cocktails, salads, and entrees were delicious,
I was most pleased with the strong flavors! I am going to try to re-create the spiced butternut squash salad some day soon. Absolutely delicious. I ordered the surf and turf - hanger steak was ridiculous. I ordered it medium - don't order it any more well done that that. I asked the server about the temp and she laughed and told me I should really be ordering medium rare... Maybe next time!
One crucial flaw in my meal - the lobster tail still had the entrail line! Gah! Don't do that to your customer. If you are serving a lobster tail, that is a really basic task - take it out! Nothing on the plate should be unedible... That's my 2 cents for today.
Other than that, great food! Maybe the servers need a little more training but other than that, we will check it out again.
This place is amazing. Always a great meal and you can just tell the food is prepared fresh and with care. The owner/chef comes out to sit and chat with every table after you get into your food, and genuinely cares about what you have to say - good or bad about the food and the restaurant. A fun, cozy place that you'll go back to more than once.
Review Source:My husband and I visited bia bistro after hearing rave reviews from friends and family. Unfortunately, our first impression will be our last. Our drinks were very strong, which I usually don't complain about, but they were almost un-drinkable. We were willing to overlook that, but then our appetizer arrived. The menu described our salad as having local heirloom tomatoes (our favorite). Some of the tomatoes on the salad were in fact heirloom, local- hopefully. However a few tomatoes didn't have the heirloom look, and then I found a sticker still on one of them.... And it revealed the tomatoes origin- Canada! We quietly brought this to our waitresses attention, as to not upset the surrounding guests. She sent the 'manager' over to apologize, and she explained that the delivery truck today did not ship adequate heirlooms for the evening. (Mind you it was before 7pm). She said in this event, they do their best to substitute appropriately. With several nearby supermarkets, and it being summer in New England, we felt that their efforts fell short and the least they could do is buy local tomatoes, and explain when we ordered that not all tomatoes would be local heirlooms as described on the menu. We expected the appetizer to be compensated, or perhaps  a round of stiff drinks on the house. We received nothing but an apology. If the true manager had been on, or if the owner knew what had happened, surely the meal or at least the appetizer would have been compensated. For these reasons, we will not be visiting bia bistro in the future.
