Ever since the Re-Opening of Big Apple Bagels in this area, I always go back to the Bagel Shop for their vast selections of customized bagels, especially the Chocolate Chip Bagel with Chocolate Cream Cheese or the Strawberry/Blueberry Bagels with Strawberry Cream Cheese. If I come in during a hot day, I can usually purchase a nice and refreshing smoothie, If I am in a rush, I can grab a muffin to go, they cater to a wide audience and have a very devoted customer base that keep on coming back.
The service is also great, the cashiers are always helpful and help to move things along as smooth as possible.
Overall, it is a great place to grab something to go, come in for an afternoon lunch break, or even an early morning breakfast, you will not be disappointed!
A nice mixture of muffins and orange juice always makes my morning at work a better one -- especially on those dreaded Mondays. I have always been a fan of blueberry muffins in general, but something about Big Apple's muffins screams "happy breakfast time!" I also have to mention their "Everything Bagel." Mmm. I have ordered a turkey sandwich a couple of times with the knowledge that the "Everything Bagel" will make all the difference. And, my friends, it does.
So, if you're looking for a great kickstart to your day - check out this gem of a breakfast place. I do suggest you give yourself a good 10-15 minutes. If you're in a rush, this may not be the wisest stop. It's typically pretty busy during the morning so I make sure I have plenty of time to spare -- but it's worth that wait.
I highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys a fast, delightful little bagel breakfast. The french toast bagel with pumpkin spread is my favorite, while my husband prefers the jalapeño bagel with jalapeño spread. We both love the cinnamon toast lattes as well. I highly recommend Big Apple Bagels to anyone that is tired of the other breakfast chains in Indy. The customer service is supurb, along with the food!
Review Source:I haven't been here in a while until today. I used to drive by it on my way Downtown to work and would stop frequently. Well, the quality hasn't changed. The bagels are still delish (toasted, with butter, please!).
Just be careful not to get there after the Hamilton Southeastern bus drivers or you'll be waiting a while. Â It's generally pretty busy so you might have to wait, but it's worth it.
I'd prefer if they had the schmears listed where you could read them while you're in line and could decide ahead of getting to the counter what you want.
Moving from Chicago to suburbia has reunited me with a lot of old chain stores that I remember frequenting over a decade ago in my hometown. Big Apple Bagles is one of them. I didn't even know they still existed. The nostalgia ended there.
The girl who took my order sauntered over a while after I walked up to the counter, coughing like she was REALLY ill. She looked tired and out of it, not fit for working. I instantly wanted to leave, rather than catch whatever she was suffering from but I didn't know how to without seeming obvious so I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Luckily, she wasn't preparing the food.
Either the food from this chain changed dramatically in the last decade or I just developed taste buds...but whatever it is, YUK. The bagel had this outer layer I can only compare to plastic. It wasn't really what I'd call a crunch, it was chewy and hard, with about a half a pound of cream cheese slathered inside. I ate it because I was starving but it wasn't pleasant by any means.
I don't normally review a place I've only been to once but I'm steering clear in the future.
The wife was craving a deli sandwich since she was now allowed to eat cold cuts, and we had a coupon for this joint, so I figured, why not. Â I'll tell you why not.
AMBIENCE- place is located in a strip mall. Â The place is well lit, and spacious. Â It looked especially spacious with no one in the joint. Â The place looked like any franchised sandwich shop you might think of. Â to the left of the store, they have a smoothie bar/muffin joint. Â I guess that makes sense.
SERVICE- considering no one was there, they had a lot of people working that day. Â As I searched the menu, I asked if they had pastrami (the one thing my wife wanted). Â Imagine my disappointment to find out even though it was on the menu, they no longer carried it. Â BOOOOOOO. Â Not the counter person's fault, but why have it on your website AND on your store menu.
MENU- again, your typical fare, sans pastrami. Â Any sandwich you get can be put on any bagel you like, or a flat bread of some sort. Â You can also jumbo size your sandwiches if you so like.
FOOD- I ended up getting the big apple club, and I got my wife a chicken blt. Â Neither one was bad, nor great, just blah.
I apologize for this review people, but I just wasn't feeling this joint, coupon or not. Â I guess if you want a real deli sandwich, you should probably go to a real sandwich joint.

Yum! Big Apple Bagel is a great place for lunch. It's usually not too crowded and they have a varied menu. You can get soup, salad or sandwiches there and they have several different bread options for sandwiches, including their many bagel variations.
I usually opt for the Mediterranean Veg-Out sandwich - it is a bagel topped with cream cheese or hummus, tomato, lettuce, onion and cucumber. The California Club is also good, as well as the Holey Guacamole. Their sandwiches are all pretty big and filling. If you are a Rueben lover, they do serve them at BAB. I can't recommend them as I've never been a fan of the sandwiches, but I suppose these would be worth a try.
I haven't tried any of the muffins here, but they always look so yummy when I go in for lunch. Their smoothies are great, and they have a few low-calorie, low-fat options.
