I had enjoyed Taste of India (same location) despite the curt demeanor of the staff. Their food was solidly good. I had high hopes for its replacement. Â What a disappointment for my Friday take out.
The rice was overcooked to a tasteless mush, despite its bright yellow, inviting appearance. Â I prefer not to have vegetable added to my rice, which they do, but I recognize that is a personal choice.
My son took two bites of his chicken tikka masala and said, "This isn't very good." He has had Indian food from several restaurants, but I still encouraged him to eat a little more. "Maybe is it not what you expected, but give it a chance." Â He took two more bites and asked to be excused.
My paneer masala had woefully little paneer. Â The sauce was flavorless, though they did get the spice level right. I asked for medium, and it had a little zip to it, but no real flavor. Â
Our garlic naan was OK. Frozen from Trader Joe's is better. Â This was badly burnt, not enough garlic.
The atmosphere is better than the previous owners. Â Nice table cloths and napkins. Â Friendly staff. The sweet are beautifully displayed. But I spent $30 on a thoroughly disappointing dinner, and I won't go back.
I recently discovered Taj Mahal! A friend and I have made several visits to the prior Indian cuisine establishments at this location, which weren't horrible by the way.. But wow, I am so glad I did! Their Tandoori chicken is amazing, yellow daal is the best. The buffet is very solid especially for the 7.99 Â price! I recommend you try it!
