Went here for the first time a few weeks ago. Great place to watch a game! The walls are lined with TVs, prices are good, and the service at the bar is quick even when it's really busy. Great environment.
Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of our waitress. She was so rude. Giving us dirty looks, was clearly very annoyed that my husband still had a tab open at the bar. Apparently the bartender was supposed to give him a slip so she could move the tab over to our food bill- the bartender didn't give us that- waitress looked us up and down, gave us another dirty look, and told him to go take care of it because "we're too hard to describe." Huh? Never had a problem moving a tab before, and certainly never been treated like that at a restaurant before. We weren't the only ones- she was rolling her eyes at the guy next to us when he asked a question. What are you- a 13 year old girl?
Overall, it seems like a fun place to watch a game and I'd probably come again for the bar area, but maybe not for the restaurant.
Good selection of decent pub foods. Their steak and cheese is a big winner with me. Okay beer selection as there is nothing special just the regular stapes. They do have a full bar and their mixed drinks are meet my high standards. Lots of TVs. If your in need of a place to watch the 'big game' this is the place to go. Noise levels can be high if the place is packed.
Review Source:Love this place! Food is always great and menu is HUGE. They actually cook their burgers to temp and serve fresh food. It is always busy but well worth it for a pub. Best place to watch a sports game, they have like a million TVs. You can't even see the walls that's how many TVs. I have also tried their breakfast and that was awesome too.
Review Source:Billy's is walking distance from my house, so I spent several Sundays here during football season. Â They have an okay tap selection, though mostly macrobrew lagers. Â Bartenders were friendly and prompt, and there are *plenty* of TVs for catching games. Â During Pats games they had contests/giveaways, which made it a fun atmosphere. Â As a Seahawks fan, I was always able to find a TV showing their games. Â The food is definitely solid too -- check out their pasta dishes.
Review Source:Went to Billy's around 8pm on a Saturday night druing the first Bruins game of the season. Every table was filled and so was the bar. My friends and I hung out in a corner with a few drinks. Within a few minutes, the owner asked us if we wanted a booth and just minutes after that we were seated. Our waitress was very attentive. The owner later came back and gave us a couple of baskets of potato chips randomly too. There are SO many TVs in this place. The one thing I would say is be prepared to wait a bit for a seat on busy nights. Also, my friend was cut off after three vodka drinks because it was the bar's policy. She was totally fine and we were walking home. Better safe than sorry though so it's not a bad policy for a bar owner. Great sports bar!
Review Source:Billys is just a terrific place to watch a sporting event.
Great food, great beer and great service.
They go out of their way to make sure you have whatever you need in any configuration you desire it.
From the wings, to the nachos, to the sliders, to the burgers, to the entree's everything is prepared how you like it and always hot and good. Â
The wait staff is very attentive and will always keep an eye on your glass.
Keep up the good work Billy's!!
Thank you, Billy! After coming off the airplane with the Gator basketball game at halftime, I scrambled to find a place that could show the game. Billy personally assured me we could get the game on, and sitting down at a fairly full bar, he put put my game on not 1, but FIVE different televisions! He came over and introduced himself, and showed me why his bar has such great ratings! When there was a glitch in the game, he went to his computer to research the etiology - game cancelled at half due to wet court :(
During our brief visit, we tasted the cheese sticks and were not disappointed. The pineapple soaked vodka is definitely a must!
Billy has tons of TVs and a heart of gold ... Â I look forward to the next opportunity I have during my travels to patronage his fine establishment!
After Bill & Bob's roast beef up in Lincoln, I've been on a roast beef tear, trying to get my East Coast fix. Â Unfortunately Billy is clearly no relation to Bill or Bob, as these sandwiches are back to the cold, grey & tasteless roast beef of my West Coast youth. Â Boooooo! Â The nachos are ok for East Coast. Â Chicken soup is fine, a tad better than a good canned version.
Extra star for the cozy ambiance (but you better be ready for wall-to-wall TVs). Â I can easily imagine slipping in here on a wintery night to catch a game and a beer. Â Skip the roast beef though. Â If you don't like sports, don't come here, as you'll be bombarded from wall to floor (yes, a scuffed up TV in the floor) by sporting events being broadcast from all over the country.
My friends and I went here this morning for breakfast after walking out of The Derryfield because of poor service. We had sat there 25 minutes and still didn't have our order taken. Billy's was the polar opposite in terms of service. We had 2 or 3 waitresses attending to us the entire time. Coffee was served within 3 minutes of walking in the door. The coffee was decent, the food was good, the service was great, Â and the atmosphere is ok (after all it's a local sports bar).
Review Source:This is the best place in town to catch an out of market NFL game (ie: not the Pats). They have TVs literally everywhere you look (including in the bath room).
The food is above average with a good menu. The twice dipped buffalo wings and the steak and cheese are great plus they do a nice clam chowder.
Plenty of beer on tap with game day specials (that is for any Boston sports team so pretty much there are specials every day).
The location leaves a little to be desired as it is kind of off the beaten path but they do have plenty of parking and there is a deceptive amont of room for a place that seems realatively small.
I need to update my previous review since my friend and I have been here several times since the last posting.
The previous reviewer (Heath M.) wrote a great review, hitting most of the points I was going to write. Billy's Sports Bar is the real deal which is plastered with lots of sports memorabilia and has lots of TVs! There are lots of bars & restaurants that call themselves "sports bars", BUT most bars in this area will only show Boston area sports and nationally televised sports and that's it. Why? Because most area bars carry Comcast and not DirectTV.
Most people around here in Southern NH will root for Boston area teams and having Comcast is adequate. However, if you're a fan of an out of town sports team, then there is a good chance your favorite team will not be shown on TV locally.
Billy's Sports Bar is one of the few bars in the area that has DirectTV with NFL Sunday Ticket and the NFL Network. There are other places which also carry DirectTV including Applebees (Derry) and Smokey Bones (Tyngsboro, MA). However, the food served at Billy's is WAY BETTER than the cr-p served at the area chain bars.
We've stopped at Billy's to catch our favorite teams in action when our games/events were not shown locally. The food has been consistently good each time and the prices are very reasonable. The large Nachos Supreme is HUMONGOUS, enough for 4 big people! The Billy Burger Sliders and Jason K's Cajun Chicken Sandwich are also our favorites. They also have some good interesting food specials and drink specials. They had $7 Labatt's pichers last time we were here. The service here is good. The bartenders always check up on us and ask us if we need anymore drinks and refills.
Billy's Sports Bar is the best option for us to catch our favorite (non New England) sports teams play and enjoy some good food and drinks in a cozy neighborhood sports bar atmosphere.
SIDE STORY: Last December (2008), my place (south of Manchester) lost power during that nasty ice storm for only one day (I was lucky). Billy's Sports Bar had power and this is where I stopped for a tasty hot dinner with drinks. I brought my laptop and I used the free wi-fi access here to check up on the latest news and social networking sites. Power was restored to my place later that evening.
Lots of places might refer to themselves as "sports bars," but believe me when I say that Billy's is the real deal. There's sports memorabilia in every nook and cranny -- enough to put some sporting museums to shame. Moreover, there are TVs everywhere -- and I mean EVERYWHERE, even in the floor, all playing a myriad of different sporting events (many of the TVs are high-def too). Â If the Red Sox are losing, turn your head in the other direction and watch something else. Â If nobody is winning, Billy's extensive beer selection or generous pour can help ease the pain.
The food goes a bit beyond basic bar and grill and it doesn't come off as cookie cutter like a chain might be. The burgers are juicy, the nachos are huge with generous piles of cheese and homemade chili on top and they often have some pretty creative soups on special. They also have a great selection of comfort foods to brighten your mood on a cold winter's night. I have yet to order anything that hasn't come out hot and fresh.
The service is pretty good -- at Billy's you don't just get one server, everyone takes care of you so if you need something, just call to any of the servers walking by. You would think this would get confusing, but it actually works out really well. The staff is really friendly and they love to joke around with the customers.
All and all, Billy's is one of Manchester's better options when you want good honest food and you don't want to break the bank.
The best sports bar in Manchester. A great neighborhood kinda place where everyone is very chill and unpretentious. The food is good, beer is cheap, liquor drinks stiff, and plenty of TVs to watch just about any NFL game you want. Perhaps best of all is that they serve a great breakfast on the weekends! I usually get the Eggs Benedict, which is very good. How can one not love eating breakfast at a bar? The bloody mary's are damn good. Check it out!
Review Source:This is a townie sports bar, without a doubt. But the food is pretty cheap (and what I've tried is definitely good for the price), they have a decent draught selection compared to other similar establishments (Bud Light, Sam Adams, Sam Adams Summer, Shock Top, Bass, Labatts, et cetera--nothing that exciting, but at least some options), and it's good for watching a game, with the TVs seemingly tuned into ESPN and ESPN2 non-stop. It's a cool U-shaped bar, so the place is cozy without being claustrophobic, and the staff are really attentive and nice about it.
But, without question, it's a townie sports bar. Qualified praise, indeed.
I love Billy's! Perfect place to go on game night (or any night for that matter!) as it has big TV's hanging from every angle possible. Cool TV in the floor when you walk in too. Get there early on game night.
Food is great, and reasonable priced. Honey BBQ chicken tenders and wings are excellent! Hubby and his buddies can polish off a huge plate of wings...you can get up to a plate of 40!
Try their Stoli Doli...its excellent...and will sneak up on you in no time since it tastes like juice.
Ladies..the bathroom is actually something to mention here...b/c it's spotless and always clean.
Breakfast is great the next day too!
Billy's is pretty much the default place my friends and I go to hang out or grab a bite to eat. Â Make no mistake though, this is a straight up SPORTS BAR. Â Memorabilia plasters the walls and there's so many TVs you wouldn't believe it unless you see it for yourself. Â Great place to catch a game if you can get in during one, and you will without a doubt be able to catch any game you want. Â I mean hell, sometimes you can catch an episode of Spongebob on one of the smaller TVs.
But I digress.
If you stick to the typical sports bar fare on the menu you won't be disappointed in the least. Â Portions are good, and the quality matches. Â Service can be lackluster, but honestly you're in there to shoot the shit with your friends or try to deal with your newly discovered attention deficit disorder with all the TVs around, not to have a world class dining experience.
In a way, I think that's the best part about Billy's, there's no pretense; you know what you're getting into, you get exactly what you pay for, and you'll rarely have a bad time.
