Ever since my old favorite pizza place fell under new ownership I had to find a new pizza place in town. Blind Onion has delicious pizza and I love their pizza by the slice deal! The staff is always very friendly and helpful and their locations are very conveniently located, although i've only been to the downtown Sparks location and the one off of Los Altos, both were great!

Did not give me my full order. I called when I got home and they told me to come back to pick the rest of it up. I couldn't do that right then. I asked for a refund for the food they did not give me. They said I had to come back in for them to do that. Manager did not try to resolve the issue for me. Basically just told me, tough luck, I am keeping your money even though I didn't give you what you paid for.

Just met some friends for lunch here.  We ordered the special: Slice and a pint for $7.  You could even order your slice any way you want it!! So surprised with our order.  We got two slices! Even came with ranch.  The pizza is of course, amazing!  The dough is a nice, yeast dough.  Don't forget to save the crusts to add honey.  We will for sure, be going back!

Got the Greek! I love the way they cook the crust, nice and crispy, and the restaurant has a good atmosphere right on the Victorian Square strip.

Great pizza, definitely unique, but somehow missing something.  I can't quite point out what it is, but other than this is good and it's not too expensive.  This definitely breaks the monotony of chain pizzas.  I ordered the chicken alfredo pizza, which had pesto in it and it was great.

I found this place during the 2012 Best in the West Rib Festival.  Thanks for having Black Butte on tap!

This is a decent place to grab a bite and a brew. I usually get the slice and tall beer deal. The pizza tastes good, but it always comes out of the kitchen slightly cooler than the surface of the sun. I guess it gives me more time to enjoy the beer while it cools. There have been a few times where the service was very lacking. Empty plates, empty beers (what good bar tender lets that happen?), credit cards on the bar, and no one o coming around to recognize that we were ready to get out of there.

I usually go for the pizza huts or round tables but on this particular day my friend insisted that we grab some pizza from this place. When I first walked in, the place was filled with a delicious aroma of pepperoni, sauce, and bread.  The cashier was very friendly and helpful, and with his assistance I selected two slices of canadian bacon and sausage pizza, and for only $4 i was very pleasantly surprised how cheap it was.  I was even more surprised when I saw the actual pizza, they were two large slices of pizza filled with toppings, and the crust looked so soft and fluffy.  The first bite was delicious and the I couldn't wait to get to the crust.  There is a large bottle of honey on each table, and my friend informed me that it was to be eaten with the crust.  In my opinion the crust is very good on its own...whatever way you like to eat it, you have to come here and try the pizza...this is my number one place for pizza now!

Dropped in for a late night sandwich, got the chicken breast..I think this was the best sandwich I have ever eaten in my life.  The service was good, the food was hot and served promptly, they have a full bar and a patio (besides the guy puking next to me - but that's ok, no splashing).  The pizza is top shelf as well.  I will definitely hit them up whenever I am in Sparks.

Excellent pizza! The crust is great, and the sauce is just right. Happy hour specials and Lagunitas on tap. Highly recommended!

My only gripe was that they had uncensored rap music (and I use that term loosely) playing on the stereo while there were 2 families with small children sitting a few tables from me. Inappropriate if you ask me.

Nothing compares to a slice and a tall pint when the craving hits.

Simply the best Pizza I've found in the area yet.
Sadly, only a few beers on tap. But good none the less.

I went here on a weekday night and it was relatively quiet.

My only complaint is that they close way too early (10pm).

great pizza, fun employees and a generally nice atmosphere. Its obviously more expensive than dominos or  god fathers, but you get what you pay for. They also have a good selection or micro brews.

I am in love with the crust of the pizza here.  Being a Chicagoan I have a taste for the deep dish pizza, but my passion has always lied with thin crust crispiness. Yummy!  As I was saying, the pizza is to die for and the topping are inventive, they use a lot of local ingredients and it show in the presentation and the menu items.  Customer service was slow but it would be a given since it was during the farmers market, but they got it to us while we were enjoying our beers.
Great place for families and it is huge, they have another room that is very accommodating.  This was my first encounter with their pizza, but not the last.  The price is pretty hefty for pizza, especially with the choices around the area, but I feel it was very well-worth.

I had a long winded review typed up, but I thought about it and figured a shorter, more concise review would be better.

It sucked. The two "bartenders" behind the bar couldn't make a long island. Pizza came out burnt. They had two guys behind the counter who were pretty worthless. Finally, when the guy who knew how to make the drinks came along, things started getting better.

Seems to be a hit or miss experience depending on who is working

I'm still happy with Blind Onion and recommend it. But I guess I have a gripe I'll air on Yelp. They have a nice Happy Hour deal where you can get a pepperoni pizza for $10. I wanted to get mushrooms, too. They charge $3.25 extra for mushrooms, which is fine. Except look at the photo. That's not $3.25 worth of mushroom. I can see being stingy with the pepperoni since the pizza is on discount, but $3.25 should buy more mushrooms than this.

Driving up to Reno for the weekend and the bf and I were starving. His craving for late night pizza somehow infected me and I started craving it too. Like the fattie I am, when I get a craving, I have to have it!!! After Yelping on the car ride I found this place. Dipping pizza crust in honey? Mmmm sounds fucking good. So we went.

Got the General's pizza (combo) and it came topped with pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, olives and peppers. The toppings tasted really fresh and there was lots of melted cheese. Not the stringy ass kind that seems like it's made with plastic. But the nice melting kind with a soft chew to it.

Side note: The crust was thick but I like bread so that was good for me. Dipping it in honey was BOOOOMB. The Yelpers did not lie. It's like dinner then dessert!

    Date/Time: Saturday, 2:30pm
    Occasion: Lunch
    Party of: Four
Location: Typical pizzeria/pub.  Order at the register.  Big ol' TV's for patrons to watch sports, and a limited number of tables.
Ordered: Garlic cheesy bread and large "Generals" pizza
    Total incl gratuity: ~$50

Upon reading some stellar reviews, my group and I were suddenly craving some awesome pizza and decided to venture over to Blind Onion Pizza.  We were pretty hungry so we scarfed down the cheesy garlic bread just like that.  It was soft with a crispy bottom and was perfect with the marinara sauce.  The general's pizza was just the combo pizza we were looking for...filled with salami, pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, olives, and peppers.  Their toppings were fresh however I felt they were placed a bit sparingly on the pizza. Some slices were a little naked.

The pizza is pretty massive.  It fed four of us and we were STUFFED!  The crust is so interesting.  Twisty, golden, and so unique.  Eating it by itself, it was a nice crisp crust.  Dipping it with the honey they provide made it taste like a churro.  I can certainly say I've never had something like that before.  Blind Onion is pretty good.  Would recommend this place for a casual meal with the friends.  Big portions.  Fresh ingredients.  Great value.

I love both locations of Blind Onion.... The Sparks location is exceptionally helpful for large parties!
In fact we hosted my husbands college graduation party there a few weeks ago and they were helpful,  friendly, accomodating and as always the pizza is DELICIOUS!!!! They allowed us to utilize the entire side room for our party of 35 people, but the max cap sign said 60, and you could easily put that many people in there, and the best part is, you don't have to pay a certain amount for the room.... you just have to buy pizza!
The pizza topping options are vast and always fresh and yummy.  It is a little more on the expensive side, but it is worth every bite, fresh yummy ingredients every time. Their beer selection is great too.
Make sure to utilize the honey on the tables for the crust, its like dinner AND dessert in the same setting.
Its also great for lunch, as they do "by the slice" options, but they offer customized toppings and you get two large slices for like $5ish dollars... such a GREAT deal.

I came here for dinner with a girlfriend and had a very lovely evening. The place is small so it can be difficult to get a seat. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is fun and inviting.

They have beer on tap, fresh salads and amazing pizza! What more could you want?

We ordered a round of Tangerine beer on tap......beer was alright....little tangy. Then we ordered a couple salads, and I was impressed by the wonderful selection of field greens, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The salad was more than I had expected from a pizza pub. Next we ordered a medium Popeye pizza...OMG this was tasty! The pizza is loaded with toppings and I promise you will not go away hungry.

    Highly recommended!

I've been here a few times, and a couple of times to the location up on King's Row next to where the Loose Moose used to be.  They were both pretty consistent as far as the quality of the pizza.  Oh yeah, and twice to the one in the Mizpah Hotel Building THAT SOME CRACKHEAD BITCH BURNED DOWN.  sorry ahem

Last week I took a date, who said just order whatever, but already knowing certain food likes/dislikes I took 'em into account.  I knew she wasn't a big red meat eater, and that she recently had some bad cheap greasy pizza experience.  Having been before, I knew there were a lot of options as far as toppings, not just your standard sausage/pepperoni/etc.  Plus the cheese is high quality, not too heavy and pretty grease-free in my experience. She used to manage a restaurant which shall remain nameless, so I enjoyed this opportunity to show my good taste (and modesty).  Great Basin food has been disappointing me lately, and she doesn't drink, so Blind Onion it was.

The only potential drawback is that the place was pretty small--just a few tables and a bar.  However, it looked like they knocked out one wall recently and put more tables in the space next door, so I think it's expanded.  They show sports on the flat screens, and are nice about letting you choose what to watch if there's a game you want to see.  I've also noticed skate videos on occasionally, which (sorry L.A.!) can often be a nice alternative to the barrage of team sports.  Plus that reminds me of SF's Golden Boy Pizza, a cool place run by a staff of skaters.

Since I like a lot of the Blind Onion's veggie and combo options,  I suggested a Greek pizza (artichoke hearts, feta, green olives, red onion).  She said it sounded good but not to go veggie on her account.  I've had it before and liked it, but then I spotted the Popeye, which has chicken, spinach, fresh tomatoes, and a garlic-pesto sauce.  Thumbs up all around.  I've had their chicken parmigiana pizza before which was OK, but I'm not the biggest fan of breaded meats, especially on a crust base, so the Popeye seemed like a better choice.

We weren't hungry for more than a slice or two, so I ordered the "personal" pizza.  The guy showed me the size--I think it's an eight inch pizza so it was big enough for six slices.  At 10 bucks or so, it was a pretty good deal for a specialty pizza.  Water/soda are served from the machine, I wanted a beer so I opted for an IPA pint on tap whose name escapes me.  The cashier/server said he would bring it to me, so I brought my date her water glass and sat down.

Conversation was nice, however I was getting a little antsy after about 10 minutes of waiting for my beer.  when the guy walked by me carrying a couple pitchers, I raised an eyebrow which was enough to get the point across.  "Oh man!  I'm sorry!  I totally forgot your beer!  Sorry sir, I'll bring that right away!!"  He upgraded me to the big beer instead to make up for it, which was about 20-24 oz.  That's the cool thing about the staff here, any mistake and they go out of their way to make up for it bigtime.  When this branch first opened, a buddy and I went--after a long wait we were told that they accidentally overcooked our pizza and they had to re-do it--we were rewarded by an additional free medium pizza while we waited, at least two free rounds of beer apiece, and a free order of chicken wings to take home.  They clearly go out of their way to make customers happy here, which I appreciate.

The Popeye was delicious.  Everything was juicy, not overdone, and the tomatoes were the freshest I'd had on pizza in awhile.  I wondered if they had bought them at the Farmers' Market the day before, they were so good.  I don't think they have ranch here to dip the crusts in, instead they have a bottle of honey at each table.  I've tried the crusts dipped in honey and they were pretty good, it always seems weird to me, like a premature dessert.  Everybody I've gone with seems to like it though.  I've ordered a side of marinara before, but the crusts are soft and doughy enough that you can easily eat them without any sauce at all.  They're almost like eating a soft twisty baguette of sorts.

Fortunately we were both happy with my choice, in fact, she originally only wanted one slice and had a second since it was so good. I think the fresh tomatoes sealed the deal.  I'm a big pizza eater, but I was stuffed after two slices, so we wrapped up the extra two to take home.  Six slices?  I like pizza, but damn even for me that's stretching the definition of "personal pizza," so good deal.

There's another good deal from 4-6 p.m. when a one-topping large pizza (huge!) is only $9.99.  And as Steve T. noticed, a slice and a pint will only set you back $5.   The pizza quality and a conscientious staff who focuses on pleasing the customer make the Blind Onion a strong option in an area with fairly limited food selection.  Now can it tide me over until Rib Cookoff?!?

After a long day/night of boarding at Squaw - our group is super hungry and we look on yelp.  Let me tell you, its pretty darn hard to find a local place that's open after 9pm in Reno.  So we're looking on yelp and time and time, we get denied due to the limited hours of operation for these highly rated restaurants.

We finally found this place that opens until 10pm, hoping that we'll make it back to Reno by 10pm - we give this place a call and give them a heads up for expecting a group of 24 people.  As it gets closer to 10pm and we're still stuck in traffic, we give this place and a call and change it to a take out order.  This place not only opens later to fulfill our 16+ pies of pizza & miscellaneous (buffalo wings, garden salad, pesto sticks), but they were also so accommodating to our large group by providing paper towels, extra honey (for crust dipping), parmesan, crushed red pepper, etc.

Night Skiiers/Snowboarders from Squaw - this is the place to call after a long day of boarding!

Thin pizza with a thick, moist, chewy crust.  I am a fan of thin crust pizza and Blind onion uses a thin pizza, yet has created a thick crust.  There are several pizza choices to choose from including classic Hawaiian (Blind Hawaiian), as well as the 'Breath Buster' for those garlic lovers.  The ingredients are fresh and the pizza is always made to order and served hot when complete.  Once you have eaten the pizza you can enjoy the crust, or perhaps you enjoy the crust first, yet either way, they have a rather large bottle of honey on each table in which goes very well with the crust.  This may sound a bit odd, as it did the first time I saw my friend using the honey on her crust, yet it goes alongside the crust very well.  For those that like sweet and salty foods, the pizza crust and honey are a win-win combination!   Try Blind Onion for a fresh, hot, delicious pizza + crust!

To Scott, I asked the owner and he told me he has a guy who works 40 hours a week just making pizza dough for all the joints.  I was perplexed by the huge bottle of Honey on the table.  I am now a believer.  The Honey is for the crust.  I asked the owner why honey and he said it is a perfect marriage for his crust.  The crust is slighly darkened and absolutly delicious with a little honey.  Great Pie and great beer prices.  They care about their customers and that is something I can get behind

Pretty decent pie but it has that big puffy twisty crust which indicates that it is either pre-made or they have some kind of machine handle it.

The evening started with a "it's been tooo long since we had pizza, its time to get some". So we call up our favorite pizza place Carella's (in the D'Aandrea Shopping center) to order. We get a message machine. what the heck? We verify the number on the Internet, call one more time. Message machine again.

So in a panic, thw wife gets in car and decides to drive over to see what is up. It appears the owners haven't been paying their bills and they are shut for good (which I can see, Carella's used high quality ingredients that you just rarely ever see). NOOOOOOOOOOO! The over priced but mediocre Round Table...giving Big Apple (canned mushrooms, enough said)  a second chance...and all the other dreg options leap to mind in a flurry!!!!

My wife then remembers thinking she saw Blind Onion in downtown Sparks (we go to Great Basin often, which is great for beer and great for kids). I'm like, hmmmm, not sure on that one. So by "blind" faith (the Blind Onion website did not list the Sparks location) we head out with our 4 and 5 year old in tow....

OMG...we got the garlic pizza...its literally the best pizza I've EVER put in my mouth (and yes, I've been to Chicago many times and had many a pizza there). From start to finish, the taste never wavered. It has garlic, onions, pepperoni, and linguisa. Just a hint of sauce. You can taste olive oil on this pizza, but at just right balance. And the crust is heavenly.

We got the cheese bread instead of chips for appetizer...they were only OK (on a wheaty type bread, which was a nice suprise)

On tap they have the excellent and hard to find Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Even if pizza was mediocre, that would have made this place a must stop.

They were out of Buckbean brew, which we really wanted to try (next time!) and a few other beers.

Service was so-so, but it was a Saturday night and they had to large tables to tend to, so its forgivable (just means one extra Dad Guy....)

Thanks to Blind Onion, with the passing of Carella's, you have saved us from pizza hell in Sparks!!!
