Over-priced, super pretentious, terrible snobby service.

The menu is pretty weak, various plays on "fish+cream cheese." Nothing really worth the high prices (even for sushi.)

The service are all young and empathetic to your situation: they are just too cool to care about you enjoying your (expensive) meal.

For a place with such a large bar, they have some strange service when it comes to drinks. We decided to take advantage of the happy hour, two-for-one beer (listed as $4 a beer). We made it clear that my wife and I both wanted separate sets of two beers (something that could easily have been clarified later, if the waitress ever checked in on us.)

After each receiving one beer, we finally flag down our waitress (after at least 20 minutes of radio silence) only to be told that the special has ended. We tried to clarify that we specifically ordered separate sets, and did not intend on sharing the beers. She then guilted us on how "she's not supposed to do this," and begrudgingly gave us our beers-- Not supposed to do what? Do exactly what you advertise?

When we finally get our check, the beers were not marked off-- something she was willing to correct after being flagged down again.

An error she WASN'T willing to fix: the beers were marked as $6 each. Despite the fact that we were physically holding menus where the beer was listed as $4.

We asked her to go get the manager.

She returned saying "We've raised the price." Hm, well, okay, you HAVE to list the new price then-- you can't charge me more than an advertised price. I wouldn't have bought a $6 8oz glass of Yeungling! I may be dumb enough to step into this joint in the first place, but I'm not dumb enough to spend $6 on a kiddie-cup of cheap beer.

We asked her to get the manager again.

She returns claiming there's nothing she could do about it (the manage clearly not intending to pay us any mind.) She said "I know, it sucks right?" Yeah, lady, it does.

Long story short: Crappy pretentious pseudo-sushi in a loud wanna-be NYC style lounge filled with waitresses that are much cooler than you and run by uncaring managers.

I go for the sushi not the atmosphere.

This tends to be a great option for girls night. The sushi is always fresh and the service is attentive. Yes, you will get the dance club crowd and hipsters, however go on an off night or over the summer and the scene is far less in your face.

Overall, probably so of the best sushi in the area, with a ton of variety, and great cocktails!

Blu Sushi is a very grown up bar and restaurant, probably a little too grown up for my liking as the staff seem a little preoccupied with themselves rather than the customers. The sushi is a good standard and so is the atmosphere. Just a shame about the service.

Good place to go guys, when you want to sport that glossy black DKNY, button down your wife got you. While there you can look look at all the other dudes doing the same thing, sippin Mojitos and acting wealthy. You can dine on sushi just a tad less appetizing than Publix sushi...but pay a LOT more, because your in a local "hotspot" with other wealthy people in some super modern decor. For best effect, sit outside and allow people walking by to see that bad ass shirt and see how hipster you are.

I would have given this ish hole a half star, if allowed. There beer WAS pretty cold.

I have to admit, I tend to be picky when it comes to sushi.  Blu is definitely on the "hip and trendy" side rather than authentic Japanese, but it *is* Southwest Florida (authentic Japanese is probably hundreds of miles away), and apparently this place turns into a dance club at night.

I came to Blu with a friend for lunch, and their options were decent:  a nicely-sized roll comes with your choice of miso soup or a house salad.  I ordered a "Find What Baby" - salmon, scallions, asparagus, and cream cheese, tempura-dipped, deep fried, and covered with eel sauce.  It was slightly dry but not too bad.

The place also has yummy-looking cocktails.  I'll have to give dinner/happy hour a try!

Overpriced. $40 and we walked out of there hungry. Ended up going to another resto for dinner.

Brought a friend for his first experience tonight - sushi fan but not a seasoned veteran. Sat at the bar. Instructed the bartender to tell Bon to bring whatever he felt like making and within 10 minutes the magic began to arrive.
As usual, a stream of dishes that I'd not seen before (nor the rest of the bar evidently), each one just, plain delicious.
The two high points were a spiced tuna and roe tartare set upon a bed of green apple matchsticks with a raw quail egg on top. Broke the yolk and destroyed it! Fantastic.
The other was a squid & crab salad with red onion, jalapeno, mango and a ton of citrus served in a bowl formed from cucumber.
Inventive. Great stuff . . . as usual.

As a combo dance club / sushi bar / restaurant / outdoor space type deal, Blu Sushi caters to a wide variety of people.

*The Sushi Lover*  -- You will like this place because the sushi is huge, fresh, and extremely consistent.  Just get what sounds good to you and you will be happy.  I usually go for the edamame, miso soup, green salad, gyoza, rainbow roll, the Christie roll, yellowtail roll, yellowtail sashimi...you get the point.  I don't get these all at the same time but I rarely deviate from these favorites because they are so good.  Tip: Get extra sauce from the Gyoza and dip your sushi / sashimi in it.  Magnificent.

*The Dancer* -- Weekends are a little louder around here - there is live music, lots of people, and dancing in what was once the waiting area.  When it is warm, which is always, the music and activity carries out onto the patio.  Not the best place to have a conversation, but definitely a great decision if you want to have a sushi party with LMFAO.

*The Bar Guy/Girl* -- The bar (not the sushi bar, separate area) is somewhat separate from the rest of the tables, and you can still get food here if you like.  Great place to hang out and get to know some random people, or at least spark up a conversation with the bartender.

*The Sushi craving, super-dancing, social butterfly* -- This is your all-in-one stop.  Look no further.

    Other things worth mentioning:

Smoking is allowed in the outdoor bar area and it wafts in.  If you are smoke-averse, watch out for that.

Even when you pop in on a Tuesday night at 9pm, the music is still comparatively loud.  There is no dancing, but it still has that very modern, very clubby feel to it.

Specials - every night of the week.  Check their website for the ones you like best.

Drinks -- I tend to stick to beer, I've had a few mojitos that were good, but nothing over the top.  Their bud light comes fast and cold, which is always a good thing.

Go here and put sushi in your face.

Excellent, fresh, large portions and the special shrimp and lava drops are our favorites.

Service was not great, although the sushi isn't bad. Many fusion rolls made creatively Cali-style.  Having lived on the West Coast, this pales in comparison to a true sushi dive, but it is probably one of the best venues FM has to offer.  Good decor and vibe for a 20s/30s crowd.

I feel extremely conflicted about Blu Sushi;  one the one hand, ladies drink for free (Skyy vodka) certain nights of the week from 6-8 (hell freaking yes) and on the other, the sushi is a bit over priced and the service is on the slower side.

Girlfriend brought me here to have dinner and enjoy some complimentary cocktails (I can't emphasize enough how awesome this is).  We sat at their cool little retro trendy bar, ordered our sushi, and downed a few drinks.  Sushi took about 30 - 40 minutes to come out and we only ordered 3 rolls, all of which were raw (they didn't have to bake or fry anything) and cost $10 each.

I was expecting at least 8 pcs for each roll, but for one it was only 6 tiny bite sized pieces (volcano roll). Definitely not worth it. The other two, which I cant remember the names, were ok.  One had thin slices of kiwi on it which was cool, but I think in the end the prices were just a few bucks too much for what we got.  My usual order of avocado rolls was $5 for only a few pieces, so I passed.  Leaving hungry but a little tipsy I supposed it averaged out to a decent experience.

I would definitely come here again to sample the beverages and maybe skip the food, or just avoid coming hungry.

The atmosphere was pretty descent, however the pictures of the 1950's women in bathingsuits were confusing... The sushi was just ok. What really bothered us was the service. Our server was, downright, bad. We saw a table with hot tea, ordered the hot tea and she came out with a bottle of tea and a glass of ice. My mother commented that she was expecting hot tea, and the pregnant server smiled and nodded while pouring it. We then asked her to explain a type of sushi roll and she had no clue, and told us we should just create our own. That's not what we asked. She seemed overly annoyed when she stopped for the first time to ask us if we were ready to order and we were not. She was not friendly, informative, or helpful. We had just moved to the area and were told to check this place out. As far as food and atmosphere, it was ok, but as far as service, it was a HUGE disappointment and we will not be returning. I think "MC" needs a bit more training.

Food and decadent cocktails are always great! Might seem A bit pricey but always delicious and excellent quality. However, customer service and satisfaction was not good at this location. Have never had an issue with that at other Blu locations. Waitress forgot to put our order in for food and happy hour and manager was not a friendly person towards the waitress or our table. Will go back to Fort Myers location but not a fan of this Blu.

Awesome happy hour specials and promotions.

This place is getting two stars because I like the music they play (techno/house/club), and their martinis are tasty.

Their sushi is NOT good, and their service is even worse. We arrived at 6pm (their happy hour ends at 7)--ordered our drinks and 2 different sushi rolls, all the while letting the waitress know we'd be ordering more before happy hour was over. She brought us our drinks and one of the sushi orders, and did not return to our table until 7:15, and that was AFTER I asked another waitress what was going on. She "couldn't" honor the happy hour deal since it was now 7:15. How convenient. Anyway, I spoke with the manager, who was equally incompetent--we ended up getting a discount, but what a headache. I didn't mind the wait since I was with great company, but the customer service was terrible.

There are too many other restaurants close by to return to Blu again.

The atmosphere here is better than the food and drinks.  The service was good and the location is nice.  The sushi was about average, but I don't think it was too fresh.

As well, we tried several of their signature martinis, all of which were WAY too sweet.

They have replaced the $14.95 all you can eat sushi with lunch combos that work out to about $1-3 discount on select rolls. Very disappointing.

Wanted sushi and my husband was working at Gulf Coast Town Center so we tried this Blu.  I must say I like it much better than the Mcgregor location.  It is cleaner and nicer and feels more like an upscale restaraunt.

Yeah, the average stars seem just right for this place--hovering around 3.5 stars.  This is a place that's serving fine sushi, but it's wrapped up in a trendy bow and you're definitely upcharged for that.  And oy, it's loud.
I prefer more basic rolls (I'm just not a huge fan of all the special makis out there.  Give me a shrimp tempura roll, a Boston roll and a California roll, and I'm pretty much happy.), and I guess that means I'm used to a smaller bill.
That said, it's not like anything was BAD here.  We took some sushi noobs here for dinner, and they seemed to like most of the rolls we tried, and that's always a bonus.  Always want noobs to have a good first experience.

I will never eat here again and I tell everyone I know not to as well.

I met a friend here for the 12.95 all you can eat sushi at 2 PM on a Saturday. It took anyone 15 minutes to even greet me and another 15 minutes to get a table ready. I should have left, as another reviewer said, there are lots of flies milling around and a nasty old fish smell. The manager of this place, Brian, was also VERY rude to me about sitting at a table outside while I was waiting for my friend to arrive, and this is the same table I waited almost a half hour for!  Apparently, he wanted to seat someone else at the table I'd already asked for and was waiting for.

Most of the sushi here is just mediocre, the size of the rolls is on the small side. I would recommend this place if you like a boring sushi menu with a lot of fake Krab and cream cheese.

This place is really just a played out nightclub that serves sushi. That said, the martinis are actually fairly decent here so it's really more of a bar to be seen in.

If you like eating sushi in a very loud club setting you might enjoy this...don't expect to be able to carry on a conversation though...

Sushi was ok, nothing to rave about.

Went here for our anniversary and we were overall very pleased.  They had a bunch of interesting combo rolls, a decent wine list (not sure why so many heavy reds...perhaps because the place doubles as a night spot) on top of the extremely full bar, and the service was good.  The techno (Sirius 33??) is a bit loud, but not loud enough to preclude all conversation, and there is an overabundance of lighting in the dining room (which either helps or encourages cleanliness).  Other than that, I can't complain.

Just had possibly the finest sushi meal of my life at Blu, which is saying somehting considering my wife and I have dined at Nobu, Shibuya and many other acclaimed sushi spots thorughout the country. We learned to never order and allow the chefs to build the experience and Chef Billy Mak truly outdid himself this last visit.
From the Tuna and mixed greens starter through a stunning fatty salmon dusted in charred five spice and bathed in truffle oil to a decadent crunchy eel sweet roll - it was pure heaven. We reduce our frequency of visits from weekly to monthly, but this has hooked us back to a more frequent visit pattern.

Blu Sushi may appear to have all the chic glow of Britney Spears post-Disney and pre-baby but as sushi goes- it stinks; literally!!!!  Why did I not get up and walk out when I sat at a bar surrounded by flies and reeking of 3 day fish!?!
Silly girl.  I know why, because after asking all the locals where to go for sushi this place was top on the list.
If I see crab spelled "K-R-A-B" ever again that will be too soon!!!  I could not bring myself to try the ever-appealing krab that "krawled" over the entire menu.  However, I did get a (not-so) spicy tuna roll stuck to my teeth.  If I were not sitting at the sushi bar I would not have attempted to choke the roll down with my $5 Kirin Light!!

At the end of the line- I will gladly drink overpriced beer while enjoying yummy sushi!!! This was not it!!
I am still looking for fresh sushi, but unlike most places that usually deserve a second chance I will not assault my senses here again.

I"m definitely a fan of Blu Sushi after trying this on a recent trip to FL.

    Food:
Just about everything my friends and I tried was delicious. I especially enjoyed the Lava drop (krab with spicy mayo, tempura dipped and sprinkled with sesame seeds). I ordered a second round of it after enjoying the first so much.

    Atmosphere:
The restaurant was crowded with people both inside and outside. We had a nice table outside the restaurant. Inside there was a wall with square lights changing colors. They were going with a modern decor.

    Service:
Service was friendly, fast and efficient once we placed our orders.

    Value:
It seemed about average for the price we paid...hard to compare as we were visiting FL and are used to SF prices.

Arguably the best lunch special in town; $9.95 for an all-you-can-eat selection on a limited menu ("limited" compared to the normal menu; the list includes miso soup, salad, a number of appetizers, about 10 rolls, and about 10 types of sushi).  I visited the other day and sat at the bar.  My drink (just water!) was kept full, and the bartender kept up with me to make sure I had enough to eat, even suggesting items I might like.

Looking at the menu, the non-lunch prices seem a little high ($9.95 for a roll, for example), but it's not unreasonably expensive.  The bar's selection was fairly extensive in vodkas and super-premium liquor (I've never seen Gran Marnier Canq Centenaire at a bar before!), but that's in keeping with the "upscale" vibe you get from the place.

The decor may not be everyone's cup of tea -- it's more modern-lounge than traditional-sushi-bar in style.  Again, it's about the style.

Overall?  A great place to have some lunch.
