Blu Sushi

Over-priced, super pretentious, terrible snobby service.

The menu is pretty weak, various plays on "fish+cream cheese." Nothing really worth the high prices (even for sushi.)

The service are all young and empathetic to your situation: they are just too cool to care about you enjoying your (expensive) meal.

For a place with such a large bar, they have some strange service when it comes to drinks. We decided to take advantage of the happy hour, two-for-one beer (listed as $4 a beer). We made it clear that my wife and I both wanted separate sets of two beers (something that could easily have been clarified later, if the waitress ever checked in on us.)

After each receiving one beer, we finally flag down our waitress (after at least 20 minutes of radio silence) only to be told that the special has ended. We tried to clarify that we specifically ordered separate sets, and did not intend on sharing the beers. She then guilted us on how "she's not supposed to do this," and begrudgingly gave us our beers-- Not supposed to do what? Do exactly what you advertise?

When we finally get our check, the beers were not marked off-- something she was willing to correct after being flagged down again.

An error she WASN'T willing to fix: the beers were marked as $6 each. Despite the fact that we were physically holding menus where the beer was listed as $4.

We asked her to go get the manager.

She returned saying "We've raised the price." Hm, well, okay, you HAVE to list the new price then-- you can't charge me more than an advertised price. I wouldn't have bought a $6 8oz glass of Yeungling! I may be dumb enough to step into this joint in the first place, but I'm not dumb enough to spend $6 on a kiddie-cup of cheap beer.

We asked her to get the manager again.

She returns claiming there's nothing she could do about it (the manage clearly not intending to pay us any mind.) She said "I know, it sucks right?" Yeah, lady, it does.

Long story short: Crappy pretentious pseudo-sushi in a loud wanna-be NYC style lounge filled with waitresses that are much cooler than you and run by uncaring managers.

I go for the sushi not the atmosphere.

This tends to be a great option for girls night. The sushi is always fresh and the service is attentive. Yes, you will get the dance club crowd and hipsters, however go on an off night or over the summer and the scene is far less in your face.

Overall, probably so of the best sushi in the area, with a ton of variety, and great cocktails!

Blu Sushi is a very grown up bar and restaurant, probably a little too grown up for my liking as the staff seem a little preoccupied with themselves rather than the customers. The sushi is a good standard and so is the atmosphere. Just a shame about the service.
