I think this place changed owners. The people who answer the phone are different now and the delivery isn't as quick as before.
We always order the same thing. Orange Chicken, Veggie Egg Rolls, Salt n Pepper Shrimp, Jalapeno Beef, and fried rice.
My husband keeps complaining that the Salt n Pepper shrimp isn't as good as it use to be. The fried rice is very plain and has no flavor. The Veggie Egg Rolls are by far my favorite item and the orange chicken is always good, but I've noticed it doesn't have as much flavor as before.
It's still our go to place, since we don't know of anything better, but the prices are kind of high and the quality has gone down.
This is the only Chinese place in GVR. It is very reasonably priced, and the food is good. Â The fare lacks the greasy shadiness of other Chinese joints (for good or for bad) and the atmosphere is a lot cleaner and more comfortable. I can recommend the General Tso's Chicken, as well as the eggrolls.
Review Source:This place is pretty good. Â Its rare when I can go to a place and order something different every visit and like everything. Â Been here about 5 times now and overall this is a place I will continue to go. Â The portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. Â The service has always been good and the food always consistent. Â In an area where theres few restaurants besides chains, this is a welcomed place in the community. Â I will continue to bring business there and I truely hope their business continues to do well.
Review Source:This is a great Asian restaurant. Â We went on a Tuesday night and there were few other people in the place, but several people came in to pick up take-out. Â The waitress recommended the Sesame Chicken and the Vietnamese Noodles. Â Both were very good. Â The Sesame Chicken was battered and deep-fried - very crispy and tasty. Â We got the Vietnamese Noodles with beef. Â The beef was tender and tasty and the dish came with fish sauce and vegetables - cucumber strips, cilantro, and shredded carrots. Â We also ordered the string beans. Â They were stir-fried in a garlic sauce and very good. Â The three dishes were way too much for the two of us, but so good that we ate most of them anyway. Â One dish would have made a good light dinner for two people. Â Our order came quickly and was served hot. Â The only thing I did not like about the restaurant was the bathroom. Â There were paint cans stacked in it and it could have been cleaner. Â The basket of seashells in the bathroom was also a mystery.
Review Source:We live in Green Valley Ranch, and ordered take out from here, since we were craving Chinese food. We ordered quite a bit of food, hoping that it would be good, and were a little disappointed. The hot and sour soup leaves a funky aftertaste in your mouth, and while the crab cheese wontons would be good served hot instead of cooling off in a car ride (oh well. the price you pay for having food delivered to your door), they were mediocre. We also got kung pao shrimp and pad thai. The kung pao shrimp was all right, and the pad thai was good - better than the kung pao shrimp. Overall, we were disappointed with the food, but for nights when you don't feel like cooking and want Chinese food, this is an ok option. (If you're up for a drive, John Holly's in Park Meadows is a much better choice :) )
Review Source:The food was greasy, soggy and bland. The service was even worse. They wanted to argue with my wife as to whether she could have an extra side of sweet and sour sauce. This is not the first time this has happened to us here. We though the last time might have been a fluke. I have had good food here before. I don't know what happened. It is a real shame, because they are the only asian option in this area.
Review Source:This place is right down the street from me. I've been going to this place for about a year and I get food from here at least a couple times a week. They are always fast and the service is good. I really like the Basil Combination, its spicy. I usually start with the Tofu Vegetable soup and Lettuce Wraps, both are very good.
Review Source:We just went back for some of the most awesome Pad Thai with beef ever!!!!! Of course, we had to start with the hot and sour soup and then the Spring rolls with peanut sauce....so yummy! This time, however....they were too quick with the service! We got our soup and two minutes later we got the rolls, but we still hadn't got our drinks! Before we could even ask for the drinks, he was bringing the Pad Thai! So, although the food is way above average, sometimes the service is a little off.
Review Source:I was lucky enough to discover the Blue Bay Asian Cafe while getting my oil changed at Grease Monkey and boy am I glad I wandered over. The unassuming nautical decor and friendly wait staff led me to expect nothing special but I was wrong! The dishes are consistently delicious & do yourself a favor & get the Thai iced tea while you're waiting. Â I will be frequenting this establishment frequently.
Review Source:I was looking for an Asian restaurant close to the hotel that I was staying at and chose this one base on the Yelp reviews. At 7:30PM on a Monday night, there were few other customers. Â The strip mall where the restaurant was located had plenty of parking. Â The waitress was very nice and was fairly quick about refilling our waters and tea. Â
I asked the waitress for recommendations, but instead I ordered the hot and sour soup ($1.50) and chicken pad thai ($7.95) based on the reviews that I had read. Â The hot and sour soup was very good. Â It had enough spicy heat to make it interesting. Â The pad thai on the other hand was too sweet. Â I even ordered a bowl of rice ($1.50) to try to cut the sweetness a bit. Â A friend tried it as well and agreed that it was overly sweet. Â I would give the pad thai 2 stars and the soup 3.5 stars.
Best Thai Chicken ever. I love the variety and they DELIVER! I've never had a bad experience in 5 years. They have filling portions for under $5... the soup is a STEAL!
UPDATE: I called and they referred me to a new location which said it wouldn't deliver to me. I called back and they were accommodating and took my order. I hope this continues because I would hate to have to switch restaurants!
I've eaten at Blue Bay Asian Cafe 3 times now and each time the food was great, the first time we went there the service wasn't great but the last 2 visits were much better. Last night my wife and I went back for more. We both had a cup of Hot & Sour Soup and mine wasn't as hot as I would like, heat wise or spicy wise but it still tasted good. We also shared an order of Spring Rolls with Thai Peanut Sauce which was excellent. My wife had the Crispy Orange Peel Beef (again) and I had the Pad Thai (again, this time with Shrimp) both were great and I can't wait to have the leftovers. One thing I wish they did was the little tea pots of tea instead of individual cups with tea bags but their Iced Tea is good. Next time maybe I will try something different!
Review Source:J and I went here for lunch a couple weeks back. It wasn't a huge place, pretty cozy for a Chi-Fusion place. I started with the Thai Spring Rolls which is just dumb because it's really Vietnamese. At $4.95 for 2, I felt they were a bit of a rip off. The rolls themselves were huge, but that was because of the overabundance of bung (vermicelli noodles) that were inside. For my entree I ordered the Beef Chow Fun, which was weird because it was cooked with scrambled eggs instead of bean sprouts, and also tasted slightly sweet rather than saucy. Noodles were definitely frozen prior, because they were chewy and springy. Worst part was that they spoke Cantonese which means they should know better. I'll tell you what though, at lunch I barely made a dent in the plate. I took it home, which then was another full meal for me the next night. Good lord there were a lot of food for eight bucks.
Review Source:This is one of those spots that defy the laws of physics. Take some competing elements: small place, huge menu, and yet the food comes out of the kitchen quickly (really quickly) and is hearty in portion and of good quality. There are so few restaurants in this part of town and now residing here, I am glad to find another good option in the 'hood.
Review Source:I live in the area and like to order take-out when I don't have time to cook or crave something special from their menu.
I really love the Thai Spring Rolls with the peanut sauce. The seaweed salad is also great but smallish as I always want more of the seaweed.
The Pad Thai is excellent though they are not always consistent with it. There's been a couple times where it was just OK. My other favorite dish is the Bourbon Chicken.
Most of the time it's great! I find the same with the other dishes... most of the time great but occasionally just OK.
I am pleasantly surprised for 2 reasons: Â 1 - this is the only asian restaurant near the airport and it was pretty good. Â 2. it is an asian restaurant that has many of the different asian foods (chinese, vietnamese, korean, thai), usually these restaurants do all of their food mediocre.
I travel to Denver frequently for business and am tired of the chain restaurants... I ordered a Beef Salad, which was very flavorful and healthy... the portion was huge... I thought it was just a little side salad which is why I also ordered the Basil Combination which the menu says is made with Chicken, Beef, shrimp, jalapeno and Basil, I ordered it extra spicy and it was very good! Â Strong Basil and garlic flavors... The only down side was that they did not put any shrimp in it. Â Which turned out okay for me since i have high cholesterol. Â I will definitely go back next time I stay near the airport...
Very good food. Â PF Changs take note, this is how it's done. Â Very big portions of food for very reasonable prices. Â I didn't care for the crab cheese wontons as they had onions which was different but I don't like onions. Â The BB'q noodle bowl was huge and could feed two easy. Â The orange chicken and mongolian beef are incredible with just the right amount of heat. Â Beers were $3.50 a bottle so pretty reasonable with the usual asian beer lineup. Â Very well done. Â If GVR doesn't support this establishment I will be very disappointed.
Review Source:When I'm in this part of town at lunch time I usually eat at the Moonlight Diner or Mattie Sopranos Pizzeria. Â I decided to try this place for a change.
The best I can say is that it's just OK. Â Generous portions, good prices and excellent service. Â But my Egg Foo Young was pretty bland.
I'll probably go back to try a few other items from the menu, but I doubt they'll alienate my affection for my other two favorites in this area.
Love this place for the local Asian take out and delivery. Great lunch specials. They have an amazing selection, Huge variety, and a full picture menu available. Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese. I love the Crab Cheese Won tons, Chicken Pad Thai, Mongolian Beef, Broccoli and Beef, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Sorry I could go on and on.
The Sesame Chicken and General Tsao could be less breaded and crunchier. The soups are average. Overall great place!
I went here today when I went and visited the old 'hood. Â I do have to admit, since I've moved down south, I have missed this place. Â
They truly have the best won ton soup I've had in a long time. Â I've ordered quite a few different items each time I've been in...the only item I've made a mental note of NEVER ordering again is the Sesame Beef. Â If I remember correctly, it's not a menu item (like at many chinese food restaurants??!), but usually, when I see that they have Sesame Chicken on the menu, I ask if they can make Sesame Beef, and most restaurants say yes, as did Blue Bay. Â Bad idea...they should have said no. Â
Anyway, if you go, order the Salt & Pepper Shrimp. Â It's amazing. Â It has the perfect balance of seasoning. Â A nice little hit of pepper that livens it up. Â The shrimp is cooked up crispy, in the shell. Â Really good. Â The crab cheese won tons are great too. Â Some of the best I've had. Â
Oh, and the delivery!!!??? Â Have your money ready as soon as you complete your order. Â They'll be at the door knockin'.
Blue Bay Cafe gets a green light!!!
One of the best chinese spots I've ever been to. They don't make the best of everything, but they do make certain dishes VERY well...
If you've never tried Pad Thai... GET IT! It's amazing. Even if you've had it other places, try Blue Bay's version.
The crab cheese wontons are very good. You get a lot of crab in them as opposed to the usual gobs of cream cheese only.
The crispy orange peel beef is also amazing, and the best I've ever had. The thing with this dish is, you have to eat it at the restaurant for it to be crispy. It takes on a whole different texture when you take it home. It's still good, just not amazing.
Anyhow... They have huge portions and standard pricing. I've had about 12 different things from the menu and they were all very good. The only bad thing I've had there was the fried rice. Thus, the 4 stars... how do you mess up fried rice?
I've both dined-in and ordered for delivery and the service was very good for both. Â The delivery has always been faster than I expected and the food is really good. Â I'm not kidding, if you place the order over the phone be prepared for them be at your door in 20min if you live in their delivery area. Â I generally get the mongolian beef or the jalapeno beef. Â Both are terrific and I enjoy the spring rolls as well. Â I'm not a food expert but I can usually tell if I'm eating "cheap Chinese food" and I don't get that vibe at all from this place. Â The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant. Â It's the jewel of the King Soopers Shopping Center in my opinion.
Review Source:This restaurant falls under the category of "I'm too far from my favorite restaurants...this one will do!"
I LOVE Asian food, mainly fresh veggie dishes and pho. This restaurant is OK. I order the steamed veggies, which are good. (You can't do much wrong in this respect) however, I do want to point out that their menus don't tell exactly what you will receive. On the Bamboo Steamed Veggie dish, you receive steamed veggies along with rice and egg rolls. For me, all I really wanted was the steamed veggies...there was no mention of rice. Just ask before placing the order what the meal comes with!
The hot and sour soup is good. I will give them that. It is only $1.50.
Another downfall is that it is EXTREMELY painful ordering by phone for takeout. There seems to be only one woman who answers the phone and her English is SO muddled and hard to understand. I always let my co worker do the ordering, lol. By the end, I have no idea what i just ordered. Asking questions is tough over the phone. They do have a takeout menu which is sort of helpful when ordering by phone.
Bottom line? There are better Asian restaurants out there both in food quality and service.
Added a star for them because I had a personal emergency last night! CAR IN SHOP and no food at home and I didn't want to order pizza hut (BLAH!)
Why didn't I think of this before Chinese they have to deliver, WHY yes they do so I placed a order nothing over the top because after all it delivery and lets keep this simple! The lady said it will be there in 45 minutes, playing the Xbox and my dog starts yapping away its only been 15 minutes! I open there door and the little dude is standing there MY LITTLE MIN PIN runs out at him and the dude jumps like shes Bengal Tiger (I apologized to him put my dog in the house, secretly inside I was LMAO) Pay take my food inside , the food was nice and hot the dishes were huge portions and weren't anything that I went WOW over taste wise its delivery after all.
I give them kudos for speedy delivery, packaging and portion size GJ Blue Bay! I will Order again! And I will keep my killer min pin in the house!
Quick service. Â Our first time for dinner here. Â Â Had the Egg Drop Soup and Crab Cheese Wontons. Â As usual, hubby said his Kung Pao Chicken is good. Â Though it cant be as good or the best he had back in California. Â I had Chef's Specials ~ Blue Bay Seafood Special. Â For this dish, they could do better.
Be warned though, especially during PEAK dinner time, it can have a long queue for service, or take out. Â They do deliver within the limited area they mentioned in their ad.
