Some people may like this hole in the wall, but I think it sucks! Freshta Anna Noori AKA "FRESHY" is the worst bartender there! Try to get service from this bartender and all you get is Ignored.

Most of the clientele there looks like a step away from retirement. Definitely not my scene. I'd skip this place if I were you.

Horrible, horrible, horrible experience in a piece of shit dive hole in the wall.
Picture this, you go to a bar in LBC to watch your friends band play, sounds fun ya ?
You encounter he rudest, bitchiest bartender ever. " Ok you think, no tips for you it's cool"
THEN you see a girl full on cold cock another girl in the face for absolutely no reason. Literally the girl was sitting at the bar minding her own business. She gets clocked by a huge drag queen -tranny looking chick.
    Yup.
Then the bar staff has the fnd nerve to kick out the punched chick and no one else.
Are you kidding me ? Wow.
They LOCK the front door, uh... fire hazard anyone?

This bar redefines the word " ghetto".
    Holy. hell.

"Beer so cold, it'll freeze your nuts off." I'm sold.

When I found out a friend of mine had to work here one night, I checked out what the yelpers had to say about it, and then found out this place even has a website. Yep. Blue Dog Tavern has a website. Sure, it's the quality of my Geocities site I used to trade wav files on in 1998, but still, a website. Where they proudly declare (in case you didn't catch it the first time) that they have "beer so cold, it'll freeze your nuts off."

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm here to tell you they speak the truth. I left this place with zero nuts. They've got a big digital clock looking thing on the wall indicating the precise temperature of the booze at any given moment...as low as 26 degrees. And you'll need it that cold, they serve the beer in these ginormous beer mugs...more than 40oz, I'm pretty sure, and they can get all warm and icky at the bottom. They were huge. I felt like I was in a scene of "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" as I tried to handle that unwieldy mug of beer.

Giant, cheap, cold beers, oh, and they were even selling $1 tacos too....you'd think I'd love it, right? Well...now it just comes down to personal taste, and while I enjoy my nuts being frozen off as much as the next gal, this just ain't my scene. The band playing was alright, but crazy loud...couldn't hear anything while they were on. And everyone else was...well, it was their bar obviously. A mix between biker dudes, bros, "hot chicks" (seriously, that purple lycra thing you're calling a dress does not belong in this bar...or maybe it does, which is why I don't).

In any case, if you happen to be in this hood and are looking for a humongous beer or two to take the edge off, give it a shot. As for me, I'll be over at The Prospector.

Definitely an eclectic little crowd here. The music is pretty badass. I listened to The Memphis Kings play a pretty rad cover of Little Red Riding hood while drinking some strong screwdrivers, well-executed by Natasha. Actually maybe more-than well-executed, because it only took four to set me over. Not something most bartenders can manage from me, so a tip of the hat to Natasha. This is the right place to talk to people of all sorts, from artistic biker-chicks, to drunken englishmen who like to break into song in the middle of a conversation. The tacos kick major ass for a buck, so if you're getting a little tipsy, I suggest you get the pork, then keep on drinking. Beers are served in ice cold mugs, and though the bikes parked outside make the place seem like a hard bar out of a movie, everyone here is pretty laid back.

Come here for a strong drink, and enjoy the non-snooty vibe.

Little strange crowd here, but i was looking for a sportsbar which this most definitely is not. Cerivello`s was packed to the walls so i went next door to watch the game here coz they had it on. The jukebox was so loud and nobody in the place was even interested in the Laker playoff game. Later a local musician played his guitar and a drunk got his butt kicked. The beers were good though..  2 thumbs sideways ;^)

I liked this place.  We came here a few weekends ago and stayed for a few beers and shots.  We had a really great bartender.  There were some motorcycles outside.  The crowd in here was older than I expected; maybe not even 40ish but probably 50ish and up.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  There were a few younger people in here, but it wasn't the norm.  Even though some of the crowd seemed both older and a bit weathered, everyone seemed ok.  Before the band came on, they were going through a lot of ZZ top songs on the jukebox or radio, which can be either a good or a bad thing.  When the band was playing the music was pretty good (like blues/rockabilly) but it made it challenging to get to the restrooms in the back...you had to walk through the stage area and it gets pretty crowded over there.  Prices were pretty inexpensive, so that's a good thing, and they have PBR on tap, which is always a welcome sight in my book.  The parking was ok..the lot on the side/alley was full, and there was nothing in front.  We found parking about a block down in the village area.  The decor was a bit roadhouse, a bit voodoo, and pretty cool.  I liked it overall.

Great place with a great vibe; don't let the big Harley bikes and rough looking crowd fool you, everyone is real cool.  And no, I don't look like a biker or tough guy by any strech of imagination, but even as a skinny Asian guy I was totally chumming it up w/just about anyone and having a great time.

Huge mugs of beer is $6 domestic or $8 foreign.  Pool table is $1.00, coin operated.  Crowds of all sorts, including senior citizens dancing to the live band.  Yeah it looks rough, and I'd admit I wouldn't walk in there if my friends weren't already familiar with the place.  But honestly, the people were so cool.  Bartenders all cool.  Didn't bump into one single guy or gal with bad attitude.

I went the other night to listen to a blues band.  The beer was good, but I was fading early and booked.  The place was very crowded by the time I left.  They did have an band that came on early and was very good.

usually has good beer on tap and nice bartenders who are willing to slow down and talk when it isn't that busy.  My only real complaint is the machismo that goes on around the jukebox and the pool table, otherwise, I have never been here without being entertained by its people watching potential

If you like David Lynch you will like this bar.  Come on a friday or saturday for maximum people watching.  I agree with Shannon B.  about the tunnel.  There is a magical tunnel that shuttles people in from Lancaster, but also from other states and time periods.  It's great.

Just a mirrored review, as I did one on Tuck's Tavern, now known as the Blue Dog.

Cold ass beer served from ice-covered pitchers.  Nice (service-wise and great looking-wise) bartenders.  Bands play on the weekend, but the place just isn't set up for entertainment and the press of folks three deep can be a bit clausterphobic.  Can be a bit rough.  Located on Viking Way, so you have to know where the place is or you'll miss it.  My buddy Joe barback there, so if Wardlow Station closes early, I'm here.

I like blue. I like dogs. The combo is even cuter, esp. the wall art decor to soften a place that can seem rather intimidating for a lil' non-biker girl like me. So yeah, kinda thought this place was way out of my own element when actually there's a friendly vibe & gentlemen-ly manners from tough dudes in leather.

Showed up w/a friend to check out the scene organized by a very cool lady fr.the XLB meetup group. After our LB Sept.Lobster Fest dining, a few brewskis here sounds good. But came here more for the bluesy-rock live band & chill hangout.

Might've stayed longer til the bf buzzed for some attention @home. Seems like he's got some innate radar to sense when I'm among a corral of men herd. Nice to feel needed wherever & whenever though. =)

We played a party here and watched Danny's drummers band play here. no stage area very tight when crowded the bartenders are cute the beer is priced well. I like the big glass its cold. I live up the street but for some reason after a few tall ones fI got lost in downtown Long Beach and its like a block away from my home anyhow thats me. It also has tons of bikers and some of the same ones that Mothers has.

My husband loves this place. Don't get me wrong, I love a good dive bar, but this place is rough. Not poor-richard's rough, but rough. Despite it's strip mall location sandwiched in between Long Beach and Lakewood, it's total biker bar. I think there is a secret tunnel in the kitchen that shuttles people in from Riverside and Lancaster.

This is the place to be for a mid-day brewskie. Or for that stressful morning when nothing seems to be going your way. You always have a friend at The Blue Dog where everybody knows your name. Unless of  course you don't want them to know your name, in that case you can peacefully sit in a private booth and drink away your worries and other sorrows. You can easily lose yourself in the indistinct lighting and blend in to the wood paneled walls, or you can sit at the bar and be charmed by all the lovely men in biker vests. Whichever you choose, be sure to give it a try. If you don't like it you can always go next door to get a mani/pedi and redeem your day.

Let me just say that this is probably a place I never would of found myself at until last night. On that note, I had a pretty good time. I guess it helped that I knew the sister of one of the bartenders so I didn't have to pay much to drink and if anyone fucked with me they'd get their asses kicked. Although it's a biker bar and there was a bunch of motorcycles outside, there was definitely no attitude inside. Most of the gentlemen were nice enough to let me have a bar stool but that still doesn't mean I didn't switch my diamond ring to my left hand.

When it comes to blues and bikes you can take it from a good old Colorado girl who grew up on Harleys while shooting pool in the back of the toughest biker bar in Colorado...This place is the shiznit as I have heard so often out here. No attitude, Decent drink prices, Nice people and employees, Oh and the best part I can go there by myself and don't feel like every guy in the place is trying to get in my pants just cuase I am in a bar alone...Very decent and definatly going again.

The Blue Dog (formerly known as Tucks apparently) is a little bar near Carson and Bellflower in north Long Beach.

Well, let me cut to the chase and say that the best things about this bar are lack of attitude, reasonable drink prices and free parking.    I got a scotch and soda and it cost $4.  Beer seemed to be about the same and they serve it in a huge schooner.

I went there to hear a musician perform and was pleasantly surprised by the no-frills, not much attitude, low-key comfortable neighborhood biker bar feel.  Also, no cover-charge and reasonable amounts of free parking on the streets around the bar.   I think people also used the parking lot of a medical center across the way which wasn't dispensing medical care on a Saturday night.

The bar is long and narrow with a few booths on one side, the bar with bar stools on the other and a pool table way down at the other end.   Not the greatest set-up for watching a musician in the middle of the bar, but they have a tv hooked up with a camera so you can see some of the action even from the front of the bar.    And when the guitarist hops up on the bar and walks up and down it while playing, well, even easier to see the action.

There are a couple video games up front and a tiny area between the pool table and the bar area where they seeme to serve some food, and a few people were dancing.

This isn't cool, hip or trendy in any way.   I wouldn't go out of my way to go there but if you're looking for good blues guitar, check out Laurie Morvan next time she plays there, and if you're in the neighborhood and want a drink, this looks like a fine place to get one.
