Was there this past Saturday night.  They had a great waitress named Michelle who was uber friendly and personable.  Great service.  The band they had was a surprising mix.  Their first set was just the three musicians who really rocked the place  with super Texas Blues in the ZZ Top frame ,even though there were not many customers. They played and really connected with the audience.  I found out later that they were their own group called 'The Bi-Polar Express'.  The Blue Frog should really advertise when they have groups and certainly get that first group back there.
Review Source:This is a nice place nice decor and the owner is a great guy. The negative comes from the food. Come on ate lunch there and found it not to be good at ALL. The three people that ate with me were not impressed either. The quality of the food was pretty much a joke, like more bun than meat, very small portion of very greasy fries. I would not eat here again. I hope the owner realizes he needs to step it up on the food end.
Also, need to increase the speed the food coming out of the kitchen. Waiting 30 minutes for a small lunch order is ridiculous. This is a competitive market and you need to provide a good value to your customer in order to thrive.
Noticed the change in ownership and decided to try the Happy Hour last week.
My husband and I sat at the bar at 4:45 to watch the NFL preseason game at 5:00. Â The BCS national championship game from last January was playing on ESPN Classic. Â No one at the bar was watching (no surprise there). Â We asked two different bartenders, three times to please change the channel. Â Eventually, one bartender called their service provider to get the game's channel. Â I was surprised a sports bar staff wasn't better prepared.
That was the good part... Â
The kitchen is very, very poor. Â How can a sports bar not serve decent appetizers? Â OK, the nachos were edible. Â The potato skins were tasteless and the zucchini sticks were ghastly. Â The grease they were cooked in had a foul taste. Â In 20 years of marriage and countless Happy Hour outings, my hubby has NEVER not finished an appetizer.
The ladies behind the bar were friendly, but the prices aren't great and there is no way I would go back and try anything on the menu.
Well, we tried the breakfast - disaster.  Didn't have hot coffee.  Gave me Decaf when I hate it and gave my girlfriend cafinated which she can't have.  No they didn't mix up our drinks they gave us each a half cup of both since they didn't have a full pot of either.  We were only the third table being served.  No rush group, it was a weekend day, not too early or late for brunch.  Our coupons threw the waitress for a loop, as did providing butter for our toast.  They didn 't have any????!  My portions were small for a 2x2 type of breakfast and we felt uncomfortable with the "manager/owner"'s attitude.  We've lived in Poway for 22 years and we know our neighborhood.  We were met with smug inderference when we suggested better competitive prices and more care to atmosphere if they wanted  to bring in families for breakfast.  Food was not good. Service fell short, we met the mad person referred to in another review who said he was the owner - we've not gone back since.  On our previous visits we'd met a 50 something owner with an accent who  was a real people person and should continue as the restaurants front man.  Oh, btw, we had stopped in for a friend to grab a fish taco one day while at the DMV and it was great.  I didn't order anything but an ice tea.
Review Source:Stopped in to grab a bite while waiting for my time at the DMV. Â It took a while to get noticed. Â Decided to sit at the bar and have a beer and look at the menu. Â Bartender never came back and asked if I wanted food. Â
So I left.
Review is more for service than food, but that is part of the deal.
I have been here twice. The 1st time was bad, but I thought they were just new and working out the kinks so I tired them again. Â Mistake, Â food is still below average, service is still horrible, although the wait staff is friendly, just slow and incorrect orders.
Oh well, I really wanted this place to work.
Today was my third time here, first time being just a quick stop for an overpriced pitcher because they have no liquor license yet.
Second go round we actually sat down to eat food and we had to end up getting the food to go because it took 45min  for 2 sandwiches. Now, they are new and there was a semi large party so we decided to give it another shot today...
We (coworker and I) go in today and order a couple of sandwiches again, there are 7 patrons, 2 cooks, and the owner there. We sit down, order, and proceed to wait 35 min to get our food... A club sand which and a breakfast sand which. 35 min. Middle of the day when the place is empty. Obviously this it longer than expected, epically when I get an hour lunch and I am not even able to eat said lunch.
Get a to go box for my food and go back to work. During my next break I come here to get their number, which is wrong. Google it and call the place and ask to speak with the manager (owner). First I tell him that his number is incorrect then I proceed to explain my less than enthusiastic visit to his establishment.
You will not believe what this guys response was....
"Well good, we do not want people like you in our establishment."
Crazy stuff... He does not have to worry about me or anyone I know ever coming back to that place. Sad because when it was O'harleys we would go there every other Friday at least. They had 1 cook and old Mama back there slinging out food 3x as fast as this place does it.
Any who, the place got a nice little makeover and the waitresses are all very nice. So if you want a beer while you wait forever at the DMV its an alright place to go. Just don't expect to get your food on time.
This place is nice. I was here for a luncheon. The food was real good and the prices were reasonabled. We all enjoyed it. I had the fish tacos. The manager was nice. 4 stars because the service was extremely slow. I went in a couple days before and called to ensure we had a reservation and that we would be taken care off. Getting there we had 1 server for 30 people and it took an hour for everyone to get their food. My personal opinion, if you know you're having that many customers, management should have prepared a full staff for fast service.
Review Source:Great new decor - better laid out than the past business there, tons of easy parking, good size menu with lots of items that sound good.
I had the Grilled Chicken sandwich (watching my calories, so picked a simple healthy item) which was honestly way more tasty than I had expected. Wonderful flavor with a thin, crusty bun. My husband had the french dip and loved it equally as much. Anxious to try more menu items.
Only problem was the waitress we had insisted on talking about her bad back and related health problems. Nothing we needed to know on an afternoon lunch date...
I'll be back again to try more menu items.
I have only been here once. I will probably give it another chance since it is a new place.
3 things:
1. Sketchy, disorganized service.
2. I got a glass of pink Andre and it was $6!!! The bartender said the bottle would be $22. I could get probably 6 bottles of Andre for that much.
3. My boyfriend's beer was lukewarm.
The food was decent. The place is nice, big and spead out. Hopefully they spruce up the service and change up the prices.
