Haven't been here for a couple years but I used to be a regular. I don't understand why this place doesn't have a higher rating? Danbury has such limited options. Come on let's keep this place alive. (No, I don't work for them, lol).
They have a uniqueness and a menu u won't find elsewhere. Sure it's not the best food I've had in my life but everything I've ordered on the menu is great. Blue chips, come on, that is awesome. I can't speak for the sushi, I don't eat that. Service has always been top notch.
Night life is hit or miss. I have gone in on dead nights and walked right out. I've had a couple really fun and lively nights here. Good drinks. I can only imagine after all these years there will be wear and tear on a space that is dual purpose so I hope they are maintaining it. It would be nicer if the place was bigger and had a separate dancefloor area.
I think Bluu deserves a higher rating - especially higher than some of the 1-star reviews it has gotten! I remember when it first opened and it  literally was the coolest place in Danbury...which isn't really saying a lot...however; the Danbury restaurant scene has vastly improved and Bluu hasn't really done anything to keep up with the competition.
That said, everything I've ever ordered on the handful of times I've visited has been great! The burgers (and fries) are my favorite in the area - and I've been to most "good" burger places - including The Little Pub in Ridgefield. The entrees have also been well-received by my friends and family. I've only had the Pear Pizza, pizza-wise, Â but it was very, very, good. The crust is not of the same class as Stanziatos, but toppings wise - it's superb. I have not tried the sushi from what I've seen, they have a skilled sushi chef.
My only wish is that they would have draft beer. The bottle selection is decent, but this is definitely not a place to go if your a craft beer lover. I signed up for their email list and they offer specials on Friday and Saturday, Â but not during the week. They also just announced they are closed on Sundays for events (not sure if that will last).
Awesome sushi. Some of the best I've had in CT. Went here last night on the recommendation of some friends- was NOT disappointed. I'm not a huge true sushi person (I tend to stick to the cooked sushi items - shrimp, crab etc) but tonight I was digging into salmon, tuna and other raw rolls. SO yummy! Made me a sushi believer. I only wish I lived closer!
We got:
Shrimp tempura roll
Spider roll
CT Roll
Bluu roll
And another roll that was absolutely delicious (but I cant seem to find on their website menu) that had spicy tuna inside and was covered with crab and spicy mayo on top. (this one was my favorite!)
The rolls were large and between the three of us, it was definitely a good amount of food. The seafood was very fresh and the presentation awesome!
Also got a meat lovers pizza. It was alright. Not the best, not the worst; definitely not as memorable as the standout sushi!
We've heard so many wonderful things about Bluu - especially in regards to their wood-fired pizzas and their burgers. Today we got an e-mail from the restaurant saying that it was a "Buy One Pizza - Get One Free" special for today, so we decided to give it a go.
Our waitress was wonderful. Very nice... never kept us waiting. We ordered the "Meat Lover's Pizza" - which features Pepperoni, Sausage, Ground Beef, Ham, and Bacon... as well as a regular/plain Cheese Pizza.
The Meat Lover's Pizza was bland and tasteless. It tasted like a charred frozen pizza of the variety that "isn't delivery". It wasn't "horrible"... but it also wasn't something I'd order again.
The Cheese Pizza was just boring. It was extremely greasy, and way too salty. The crust was burnt... and the sauce tasted like canned/jarred sauce with a lot of salt added to it.
We've decided we'll give the restaurant one more try - to see if the burgers are worth it. As for the pizza, however - we'd never order it again.
Bluu is a hit or miss for me. The sushi bar is by far one of the best in the area, whether I eat there or take out. I love the Christmas roll and the hand rolls are massive and delicious. Aside from sushi, I once ordered the bluu salad and it was alright. There seemed to be too much on the plate and the dressing was so thick I couldn't drizzle it. I've also had the farmer's market salad (once there and once take-out) and it was average-something I could make at home. My family loves their burgers and pizzas as long as we eat them there (the few times we've ordered them in they were charred and dry). All in all, Bluu is GREAT for sushi, but be sure to eat there if craving a burger/pizza.
Review Source:I have been to Bluu over a dozen times and everytime it has been a waste of my time and my money. Â I have always felt like it is a wanna-be NYC lounge on a side road in Danbury, CT. Â It does not fit the people who live in the area and certainly does not fit in its location, on the border of Danbury and Brookfield. Â I might understand if it was closer to Ridgefield, Wilton and other upscale towns, but alas it is not. Â
FOOD is weak. Â The menu is all over the place, with pizza, burgers and sushi. Â I have had some of their "free" happy hour pizza (you may have to ask for it, because the service is terrible) and it has been lacking. Â I would rather go 2 minutes up the roads to Pepe's and spend money. Â The weird herb choices clash and it is never warm enough to be enjoyed to the fullest. Â I wouldn't dare try the sushi, who knows if it is fresh or not.
BAR/DRINKS Fairly priced for the area. Â They do not have anything on draft so that loses points for me, seeing as most of my friends and I love to have a freshly poured beer.
SERVICE is absoltly terrible. Â The first few timesI was there, I was with a large group, and our orders kept getting mixed up with other tables. Â I wouldn't mind this if this only happened once, but it has happend FOUR times. Â Once when I went for a party, the waitress spilled a tray load of drinks on the birthday girl and didn't even offer her a free drink for ruining her dress!!!
MUSIC is for those who have never been down to Stamford or Norwalk for a good night out at a real lounge. Â It's terrible. Â The DJs are absolute jokes.
Overall, if you want a NYC experience without venturing into the city, don't try to have it in Danbury. Â I would go closer to the water, by Stamford or Norwalk. Â It is much more worthwhile.
Ya know, I really like bluu.
I'm not a BMW-driving socialite, but I actually like the place. They have solid sushi, a good menu beyond the sushi, and they always seem to be running a drink special. That's right, even on Friday and Saturday nights. I'd call ahead just to make sure they're running one, but chances are the answer is yes.
I've seen half-price drink events, "ladies nights," etc. It's actually kind of a good deal considering the kind of place this is... It is admittedly a little snobbish, but whaddya expect from a place that takes an ordinary word, screws up the spelling, calls it cool, and names their restaurant after it...
So even though it may not seem like it, this is actually a good value for you money in Danbury. Oddly, there's also the "Blue Chip" in Danbury, also a good place, but they don't run the same kind of deals that BLUU does.
I've never had a bad time at Bluu - but I think that owes more to me and my friends' ability to party than Bluu's atmosphere. There's usually drink specials, and the DJs are alright for the area, definitely better than other bars in Danbury but nothing special. What confuses me is how you can order brick oven pizza or sushi rolls in the middle of the dance floor. Makes no sense. Also some of the bartenders are incompetent - I've received drinks when I asked for a shot, or (the worst) a busser will take away a drink I've only set down for a moment. I know you're not supposed to leave a drink unguarded, I took high school health class, but if I want to walk on the date rape wild side and put my damn cup down then let me!
Review Source:Bein' Miss Midwest Out in the East Coast, I was impressed that Danbury offered a place with techno. Perhaps being close to NYC does have some influence afterall. As the night wore on though, the music and people changed. Here is the transgression....techno-raggae-hip hop-pop 40 remixes-heavy metal (we left for Molly Darcy's at this point).
The crowd was a mix of classy to assy to those that clearly needed to skip the dancing and just get a room.
Service was good-got drinks fast and servers/bartenders had good attitudes. 1/2 off drinks before 11pm on Fri & Sat. Martinis were strong and they don't give you cheap liquor for mixed drinks! Sushi was decent but the sushi chef looked like he's bored outta his mind. The oven baked pizza was ok.
Friday night was hopping and with nothing to do and the only place to get a late night dinner & dancing, we went back Saturday. Â Big mistake! It was dead and full of creepers with a sprinkling of teenie boppers & grannies nodding their heads to the rhythm of the music. All right, it picked up around 11pm, but still the music (different dj) was all over the place. It was like he had no control on bass volume (too much for the sound system) and he couldn't decide between spinning old skool rap or Spanish polka. We figured all the cool ppl had left to party in NYC.
This place is totally confused and full of weird gimmicks: flaming herbs on top of pizzas (if your teenager raises an eyebrow favorably upon smelling it, check his or her drawers later in the evening ...), dim, annoying, and colored lights, a much-too-loud soundtrack ripped from Kiss 95.7, and black french fries which do little more than prompt you to inquire whether or not they usually come out that way. I ate the Cuban burger expecting something with a little kick and instead receive a staring example of all that is mediocre. Skip this place altogether. Even Danbury has much more to offer.
Review Source:I hate clubs -- but I've never had a bad time at Bluu. Â It's really not so difficult to make a decent club, and Bluu does it right:
-no obnoxious bouncers. Â Sure, there are bouncers -- but you're not forced to wait in line like a plebian to spend your money. Â At Bluu, the door staff, you know, TENDS DOOR -- checks ID, and tosses out the troublemakers. Â Once inside, yes, its loud (we're talking about friday/saturday/holiday evenings, here), but the DJ is (or always has been, thus far) top tier. Â When I hear a good DJ, I always ask them if they've got a mixtape/cd on hand -- this has happened multiple times at Bluu. Â I'm an old-fart (hah, meaning, I'm broaching 31), so this isn't exactly my "zone" -- but I don't feel out of place, and I've always been able to get a drink, STAT. Â Speaking of which, the drinks are fast-and-cheap -- if you're a booze snob, don't bother, but if you just want a strong cocktail on-the-cheap, to fuel that dancin' -- do bother. Â I've been here for birthday parties, DJ spin-outs, and various other occasions -- at first, I would go gritting my teeth, expecting somebody to give me crap at the door ("Sorry, your shoelaces aren't diamond-encrusted") -- instead, I found a warm welcome, and a staff that actually considered you both a customer and a friend. Â Kudos, guys, and keep it up.
Bluu, blew.
When you walk into a bar/club/restaurant/"whatever they're passing this place off to be depending on the time of day" and there's a list hanging by the door listing all the things they don't allow, you know you're stepping into a real classy joint. Â
That list, by the way, was so large they had to print it on three pieces of 8 1/2 x 11 paper and tape them together. Â I've uploaded a photo for your convenience.
Whoever said it was "a NYC type" of anything is high. Â People and places like this do not exist in NYC. Â I've looked. Â They're not there.
Seriously, the crowd was a weird mix of people from college kids with fake IDs to older people who looked like they left their walkers out in the car.
I don't think I'll be missing anything if I never go back.
Highly recommend the friday/saturday happy hour special for half-price drinks! Went with my husband on a friday about 2 weeks ago for "dinner and a movie" date and coming here turned out to be such a great idea!
At 5:30, there were LOTS of tables (that eventually filled up within the hour), but we were going to have sushi & found one seat  left at the bar, in front of the sushi chefs. It was a bit awkward to get the waitress and the bartender's attention, but once established, they were attentive.
In a very short time, someone offered to move down so that we could both be seated & I asked the group next to us about the flatbread pizza they were eating. They said it was free for happy hour, but sometimes you have to ask for it and also informed us that drinks were 1/2 price from 4:30 - 6:30. (tried, but was unable to verify on their website). We mentioned "1/2 price drinks" to our waitress and it was correctly reflected on our tab.
We started with 2 martinis and later had a glass of wine and a bottle of hot saki with dinner - all for about $16. We shared the seaweed salad, spicy tuna roll, bluu special roll (Salmon, tuna, avocado, tobiko, cream cheese and cucumber inside w/tobiko outside) and the red dragon roll (Eel & avocado inside w/ tuna outside). Everything was DEE-licious and of generous portions!
Burger menu has 14 selections plus build-your-own! Pizzas are made in an open-fire brick oven and come highly recommended, as well!
This is a NYC type of club/restaurant, that has made its way to Danbury. The food is pretty good, they have some variety with the drinks too. The layout isn't bad, but its not NYC, thats for sure.
Certain nights are "club nights" where youngsters are packed in dancing to the latest jams. Most where under 25.
Only been once and don't plan on returning. Since when does sushi contain lettuce? Â Waitress was sweet but tried repeatedly to talk me into ordering alcohol. Dance floor is tiny and two girls were dancing like they were possessed and swinging their hair and arms all over the damn place. Everyone else was dressed like they were trying way too hard. Â C'mon people, this is Nabby Rd in Danbury not some fancy NYC club.
Review Source:My friend, my mother, and I went shopping in Danbury CT. Â Someone had told me he went to Bluu and thought it was a pretty cool place, inexpensive and eclectic, so we decided to check it out after a long day of shopping. Â We were not disappointed.
As we were walking up to this building, which doesn't look like much, maybe a warehouse or something, we noticed a TV on the outside of the building near the front door. Â That's different...
We got there around 7 pm on a Saturday. Â The place wasn't busy but busy enough and we were seated right away, on the "balcony", let's call it. Â The place kind of looks like a small night club, and it is a lounge with a DJ after 9 pm. Â We walked up the couple stairs to our table. Â It was dimly lit inside with blue LED candles on all the tables. Â My favorite part was the bar which was back lit by lights that kept changing colors, like a fiber optic Christmas tree. Â The place looked trendy and I liked it.
We could not decide what to order. Â The menu is limited to sushi (No combo meals either so you have to spend a ton of money if you want to order rolls or ala carte), salads, burgers, pizza, or pasta. Â Of course, they have all different combos of each but they are different, like their lemon pizza which is topped with arugula or their Brazilian burger that gets a fried egg on top. Â You can be boring and order just a cheeseburger, or you could put any toppings you want on a burger, pizza, pasta, or in the calzone. Â
It took forever for us to decide what to order, but our waiter was very nice and patient. Â In the end, we decided to each get something different and share. Â We got a shrimp tempura roll first as an appetizer. Â It came out and the shrimp in the center was still hot. Â I have to say, one of the best tempura rolls I have had!
My friend got the Mozzarella Tomato Basil spread burger.  It was quite tasty, cooked to her liking (medium well, whereas I would have asked for medium).  The tomato mixture on top had sundried tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella.  Different, but it worked.  The burger came with a side of fries.  We wondered why they were so dark they looked burnt but our waiter told us the Bluu fries  were made from Peruvian blue potatoes (different!  Interesting!  I like...)  The burger also came with a "coleslaw" which was actually a vegetable slaw that had green and red peppers, cucumbers, and was topped with a sesame dressing that tasted like the dressing from a seaweed salad.  Again, interesting choice but it was good.
Mom ordered a red spinach and garlic pizza with cheese. Â Their pizza is nothing to write home about. Â It's good, don't get me wrong. Â The crust is nice and thin, just the way I like it, but it's one of those places where their pizza does not stand out. Â Maybe we should have ordered one of their specialty pizzas. Â Maybe next time.
I ordered sushi (of course). Â The roll had tuna, salmon, avocado, tobiko, cream cheese, and cucumber. Â It was really melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
We did not order any drinks and our total bill ended up coming to $17 each, plus tip for the waiter. Â We all really enjoyed our experience at Bluu. Â The waiter was on point, constantly filling up my water glass, right there when we needed something and to come back and pick up the check. Â I will definitely go back there and explore some other adventurous menu options!
i'm kind of at odds with this one---it's obviously very popular (both the bar and dining room were packed on a tuesday night), but the look of the place is......strange. Â clubby and not pristine by any means, and the menu is WAY too large and filled with a bizarre mix of styles (i was admittedly afraid to order sushi from a restaurant that also serves burgers and pizza). Â but..... the food (an avocado burger medium rare and a house salad with balsamic) looked fresh and pretty and tasted very good. Â no beer on tap, which is strange for a place with a full bar, i think. Â good service.
Review Source:I just find this place awkard, sort of like I don't feel like I should be sitting and eating a dinner. I get the vibe this place is a dance club who put tables wherever they could & cant wait to move those tables aside to just DANCE.
As for food, this menu is way to big. I never feel good about a place that has a novel for a menu. Sushi shouldn't be mixed in with burgers.
The place seems popular but the two times I've gone I just simply haven't been impressed with food/service/atmosphere and don't plan on going back.
This is a weird place!I think  there is a good restaurant here buried under a lot of pretension and excessive unmet ambition.I had a very good Tuna burger but the French Fries were a disaster, worthless and well, weird .My wife had a good pear pizza and a good salad. However my other companions had cheese sandwhiches which were lousy. The place seems to be confused as to what it is.I was here at lunch and TV sets were blaring and the music way to loud. It's a shame because it's clear someone can cook here and this could probably be very good place. Also they win points for trying to be imaginative.I suspect they should do less and focus on doing it better.A little tweaking and they might really have something.Service was good and I wish them well .In other words this was not one of those places I felt was a complete loss. It has possibilties .If I read good reviewsw in the future I'd consider going back.
Review Source:Probably a 3 in a major city...but a 4 in Danbury...so 3.5?
as some have mentioned, burger/pizza/sushi/salad is an odd combination. Â i happened to be in the area for a wedding, and we decided to grab dinner here friday night.
the wait wasnt too long, as we just took our time in the liquor store next door to load up on "supplies" for the weekend. Â we were seated quicker than expected, and were ready to dive in. Â I ordered the eel/avocado/california roll as an appetizer. Â The avocado wasn't ripe enough, but the roll was ok. Â After seeing their real brick oven, I had to try their pizza. Â I got a meat lovers pizza, which was good. Â everyone else in my party seemed particularly pleased with their meals as well.
the place has a modern look to it, which is probably refreshing for a place in danbury...but its not too over the top. Â I saw a wide mix of people at the place(families, children, young adults) so I would think this is a pretty popular spot for a change of pace.
My husband and I have recently moved to the area and went to Bluu for a quick dinner. First of all the girl at the door was very sweet and seated us right away. Our waitress was quick and very nice. We ordered a drink each and I ordered a burger and my husband ordered the oyster po boy. The food came quickly and was very tasty. Prices were very reasonable. Glad to know that there is a place so close that had good food. Looking foward to going back and trying the pizza and sushi
Review Source:THE ATMOSPHERE here is split into two parts. Â When you first walk in, you're in an area that has a curving bar with a brick pizza oven in the back wall. Â As you venture deeper into the restaurant the room opens up into this very contemporary like feel. Â The tables are set a good distance apart and you can tell that it's an ideal setup for an after hours night club. Â There are two levels of seating and flat screens strewn throughout. Â This restaurant is perfect for a group and is very friendly for a family with children.
THE FOOD is broken up into three sections: Pizza, Burgers, and Sushi. Â Interesting combination, but it seems to work. Â The pizza are baked in the brick oven by the front bar, not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it's also functional. Â The burgers are a huge hit, and there are so many to choose from the biggest problem will be deciding on which one. Â The sushi is very good and for the area, it's one of the best. Â You won't find better sushi around unless you travel to southern Fairfield County or the New York City area.
THE BAR is very unique. Â Bluu has two, the first bar is in the front, and is very traditional, perfect for an after hours meet with a coworker or for just a beer on your own. Â The second bar is further into the restaurant and is very contemporary. Â The liquor wall is lit from behind by color changing lights and the whole bar makes you feel as if you're in a downtown Manhattan hot spot.
RECOMMENDATION: As stated above, Bluu has only three types of foods to choose from. Â For the sushi, my personal favorites are the Christmas Roll and the Red Dragon Roll, I could eat these every night. Â The pizzas are very good and they have a thin crust to them. Â My personal favorites are the Veggie pizza and the Meat Lovers pizza, though if you're feeling adventurous, try their Award Winning Pizza. Â It's a twist on your traditional pizza and you'll either love it or hate it, but definitely try it! Â The burgers, well there are just too many to list, the biggest problem with the burgers is deciding on which one to pick. Â All of them are good so just enjoy!
Bluu is a perfect destination for a family with children or a group, they have a full bar and offer a very tasty menu. Â The best part is you don't have to dig deep into your pockets to go there, Bluu is very affordable and is definitely a good choice.
Have been here twice now and am solidly impressed by the food and value. Â Last time, ordered the Tuscan salad (topped with fried shallots, blue cheese, pine nuts, etc), which was delicious - one of those salads that totally negates the health benefits of eating vegetables. Â This time, I was feeling unadventurous and ordered the penne skillet with vodka sauce, which was comfort food at its finest. Â My friend ordered the cheese calzone, which was perfectly cooked in their brick oven-- crispy on the outside, melty awesomeness inside. Â Mmm.
In spite of the delicious food, I'm giving this place 3 stars. Â Why? Â For one, the ambience - it's really loud, very dimly lit, and always on the cold side. Â This place seems to be undecided whether to be a restaurant/bar, lounge, or nightclub, and so it ends up being all three, but in a bit of a half-assed way. Â Also, the service is just ok - our waitress was nice, but she screwed up my friend's order (brought him a cheese pizza at first instead of a calzone). Â She was appropriately apologetic, but he got his entree a full 10 minutes late (I was nearly done with my entree) and was never offered a discount or comp of anything.
This place has the BEST sushi in Danbury. Â Nowhere else compares. Â The salmon avocado rolls are so fresh that they practically melt in your mouth.
I've been here a few times and I always get the sushi. Â The pizza is the only non-Japanese item that I tried. Â It was OK, but I think the dough was too hard and thin. Â Next time, I'll try a burger....with my salmon avocado.
Bluu serves a weird range of food but they're more known by the locals for their nightlife. The sushi is decent but not the best in town and certainly not memorable, and the burgers are interesting because they have some crazy combinations. The prices are reasonable for the area.
They suffer from an identity crisis however. The place is dimly lit and set a nice contemporary city-like environment, but then again they're serving ONLY salads, burgers, pizzas, & sushi. Menu is weak in my book.
What's weaker is their failed attempt for only allowing 23+ to enter for males at night time. They don't do that anymore because it doesn't make sense business wise. Not in danbury boys.
The sushi here was decent...especially for Danbury standards. Â I came with a group of work friends on a Friday night and ordered a beer and a spider roll. Â I don't know how the regular menu food is but from the other reviews it looks like they are pretty tasty as well. Â The music at this place later in the evening is actually quite good. Â Our group was on the dance floor and having a blast that night.
Review Source:The quick and dirty: Bluu offers an interesting setting, delivers excellent food from an eclectic menu, but its service needs work.
I have been to bluu twice for lunch, and I have enjoyed it both times. In terms of atmosphere, it aspires to hipness and mostly succeeds. It would perhaps get all the way there were it not located in an entirely unhip location -- sandwiched between Stew Leonard's across one street, Stew Leonard's Wines across the parking lot, and Bob's, Home Depot, and Linens 'N' Things located across another street. In other words, it is a an "oasis of cool" located in the middle of typical "big-box" retail establishments
The building that houses bluu appears to be a former garage (or at least it is intended to look like a former garage) located in a partially (if not fully) prefabricated building. It has a bare cement floor, with high ceilings, a rounded roof, and a "garage door" that now serves mostly to provide the main source of natural lighting -- for Bluu is otherwise without windows. It has a bar with colored backlighting that rotates through several colors, and a few plasmas scattered around the space for those interested in sports. I would offer that the constant tuning of the TVs to ESPN detracts from the overall vibe of bluu -- it would be better were they tuned to music videos, films, or other programming with a look more suited to bluu's overall atmosphere.
Oh, one other though while I'm on the subject of atmosphere -- once while there, the soundtrack seemed to be tuned to a loop of soft rock hits of the 70s and 80s -- utterly contradictory to the industrial/modern hipness of the physical surroundings. Bluu, if you read this, please, no REO Speedwagon, Corey Hart, or Taylor Dayne, ever again. Please. Your customers don't come to bluu because they're looking for a bland, muzak-worthy audio accompaniment to their meal. You could at least compile the softer offerings of a band like The Smashing Pumpkins (think 33, 1979, Mayonnaise, etc.) and play that, rather than the garbage I heard there most recently. Â
As others have said, the menu is eclectic, with burgers, pizza, sushi, and salads being the four foci.
I have had both a burger and a salad and have found both of them to be excellent.
The menu offers something like 14 different burgers, not including a "build-your-own" option. The burgers are truly mouth-watering  -- cooked to order -- and yes, ACTUALLY cooked to order, not "medium" that comes out "well done". The buns are fresh, as are whatever accessory ingredients come with the burger you've chosen.
The salads are also great -- in my case, the "banana berry" salad, was remarkably good. Mesclun greens, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, maple-glazed walnuts, all tossed in a banana vinagrette. Yum. Oh, and it also included (not listed on the menu) a banana, battered and fried in a crunchy mixture of some sort. It was like having dessert without having to order dessert.
I've not yet had the pizza or sushi, but I will. I've never actually witnessed anyone order the sushi, and I've watched the sushi chef stand around for quite a long time without appearing to have much to do. I imagine the sushi is a more popular menu item when bluu becomes an "ultra lounge" later on Friday and Saturday nights.
Now we get to bluu's one downside -- SLOW, inefficient service. Bluu's hostesses and waitstaff are actually quite friendly and, for the most part, seem competent and efficient. Yet, both times I've been to bluu, it has taken FOREVER to receive my food.
I've been to bluu at diametrically different times -- once when it was about 85% full, and once when it was about 85% empty. Yet, the volume of crowd seemed not to significantly impact the speed with which I received my meal.
Most recently, while there with my wife, the waitstaff apologized repeatedly for the delays, saying that the kitchen was incredibly backed up. Bluu ownership need to crack the whip Gordon Ramsay-style on the kitchen then, because we weren't the only customers grumbling and contemplating departure before the arrival of our food, despite knowing already the wonderful tastes awaiting our buds once the food finally hit our table.
The waitstaff was kind enough to offer us bread to tide us over -- but it was cold, dense, and tough to chew by the time it got to us -- I suspect another consequence of the kitchen's inefficiency.
So, bluu has great food, an interesting, though sometimes mixed up  atmosphere, but terribly inefficient service that held me back from offering more stars. With a few tweaks -- turn off ESPN and the bad soft rock -- and improved service, bluu could be truly great.
When I was visiting a friend, they took me out to eat at Bluu. Apparently there's only one and it's here, or that's what I was told.
It's fairly new, and the unique menu is split four ways. You could order sushi, burgers, salad, or pizza. The prices are fairly reasonable and you get a lot for your money. The servers are very friendly, and the food is/was delicious. The only thing I could say is that I ate too much, haha but that's not the restaurant's fault. They have good desserts too like fried oreos. I got the avocado burger, which you should get!
I didn't like the fries too much, probably because they come from blue potatoes...they just tasted weird, but I guess it's an acquired taste. Also, at night, I hear it turns into some sort of dance club, haha. It seems a little overwhelming, but it's worth the experience. It's a small place but it's good to just check it out if you ever find yourself in Danbury.
The first time I came here I was skeptical; but I never judge a book by its cover. Â The second time was better (I think because all the hooplah was over from the grand opening).
The menu is split into 4 sections: sushi, salads, burgers, pizza. Â Weird combo right? Â Well in reality its pretty cool. Â The sushi is delicious and original; presentation is an A. Â They have about 10-15 burger selections so its not like you are getting your regular old cheeseburger here; plus you get blue french fries! I'm for serious haha. Â I've never gotten a salad or pizza but the ones I have spied on others tables looked pretty good (the pizza is wood fired so i have to think its better than usual danbury pizza).
The also have friendly staff, a pretty extensive drink menu and a full bar. Â No beer on tap though. Â And supposedly they have a DJ on fri and sat night for when dinner time is over and its time to play.
