The service is BEYOND slow.  We ordered spaghetti for our son before we ordered anything else and it took over 30 minutes, for spaghetti, really?!  When the food comes, it is good, it just takes forever.

Oh my goodness, their tomato basil soup is GREAT!!!! The fish tacos are good, so is basically everything on the menu. The Zucchini sticks are a great appetizer, prime rib dip is good, and their teriyaki dishes are yummy! Everything is tasty... OH!! Last... you MUST TRY the mud pie!!! You cant find it anywhere else !

This place is more of a 3 star place as far as the food quality goes, but, the value of the prices gets it that 4th star. Also, it is quite nice inside; no smoke, very clean, nice modern feel, restaurant has a lot of windows...

Had a fish lunch; at $9.99 it was a bargain. The sole was just a little bit overcooked, but not too bad. The sole was perfectly breaded, no grease flavor, and had a nice taste. The lemon caper sauce or whatever it was on top was a bit too "gravy" for my liking and I'd omit that next time, but had a good flavor nonetheless. It was a good sized fillet (I almost wonder how they got a fillet of sole this big, but I went with it). The steamed vegetables to the side were cooked al dente and obviously freshly cut, and unsaled and without butter; good way to get healthy vegetables for sure.

Service was pretty good but it did take quite a while to get the food. The server made quick trips to the table for refills and food delivery and did a good job with the whole acknowledging without being overbearing thing.

A bit glad I stopped here at this point and not in the past, based on some of the old reviews, it sounds like this place had some problems in the past that I just didn't see this time. The menu was nice, food was very well priced, service was pretty good, and it was a good experience overall.

came in for lunch today with dad.

started off with a side salad, and was disappointed. $4 for basic iceberg lettuce, a couple onion slivers, 2 cucumber slices, and two cherry tomatoes. topped with house made croutons. (actually were really buttery and really good) comes with choice of dressing. Their ranch is good too.

Dad had fish n chips. Came out still steamy. The fish was fried perfect and not oily. The fries were nice and crunchy and did not taste like fish.

I ordered the cheesesteak pizza. It was smackin'! Thin crispy crust had thinly sliced beef with onions, peppers and lots of cheese. The creamy horseradish sauce was a nice kicker. I ate it all.

Other than the salad, the meal is worth another trip back. Good food for the price. :thumbs up:

Really a 3.5.  Coupon + hungry = stop at Bodine's.  I remember when this used to be a little cabin restaurant on a corner lot and people lined up for its burgers.  Now it's a modern little restaurant (with the requisite glass pendant lamp shades) tucked inside a casino!  Kudos for a great ventilation system - it didn't smell smoky at all in the restaurant.

I opted for the small wood-fired Margharita pizza.  Thin crust - check.  Flavorful - check.  Perfect for lunch.  I think it was around $8.  My friend ordered the 8 oz. sirloin steak for under $10.  It looked tiny, but it was thick and looked perfectly done.  I tasted the mashed potatoes which were delicious, albeit slightly salty.  Vegetables were standard steamed.  We splurged and also had a dish of gorgeous ice cream for dessert.

I especially liked the fact that they brought over a little carafe of iced tea so I could keep my drink topped up.  Nice touch.

Overall, your basic menu with reasonable prices in a nice atmosphere inside a little casino.  No, don't drive an hour to come here, but if you're in the neighborhood, it's not a bad choice.

I agree with Kara V. that Bodines has come up in quality.

Have been in twice recently for breakfast.  The menu has expanded and most of the prices are unbelievably reasonable.  Very good coffee which is a must for for a breakfast restaurant.  The service on both visits has been great.  The whole place is super clean which is much appreciated.  The HVAC system is outstanding and there was no smoke odor in the restaurant, a real plus for a Nevada casino.  The underground parking and entrance on a cold and snowy early morning was a very welcome plus.  And, the food was good!

    Needless to say, I'll return.

I had not been back to Bodines Restaurant in over a year, since the food and service had taken a down ward dive, via management decisions. Now I see they have a new menu and possible new food managers. Gone are the daily $7.77 specials and now they offer $5.99 dinner specials every night. It's the entree with sides, but no soup or salad included. If you want soup or salad it's $1.50 more. The choices vary from Cowboy Steak, which is a 1/2 pound ground beef patty covered in onions and peppers, served with mashed potatoes, to Chili Verde, Pork Chops and Taco Salad. You can check out the website for the full menu.

I ordered the Cowboy Steak, just hoping for the best, being it's a $5.99 special. The entree was actually pretty damn good. This is an improvement from the previous time I was here. The meat was tasty and the mashed potatoes were real potatoes mashed on site. Not the mix or premade food service mega pack. My BF's Pork Chops were good too. Mind you, the meals were not over the top wow, but for the price, a decent meal. The only reason I don't go for 4 stars. just 3, is the speed of the kitchen is on the slow side. It's not the servers fault, but the food seems to take a bit longer then one would normally expect to arrive at the table. I guess just don't be in a rush when you eat here, relax, have a cocktail and converse in enlightening conversation with your dining companion. I'll return again. Give the new menu a try and see what you think.

Great place for Breakfast and some good dinner specials. Lunch left something to be desired. Philly cheese steak very bland:won't make it in south Philly. The "home made" Ice cream taste very artificial. chicken egg rolls were OK though

Where in the Bay Area would I ever find a deliciously juicy cheeseburger for only $5.50 outside of fast food restaurants...and a jug of Coke for only $1.75?! My bf got the Monster Cheeseburger, which I thought was very smart of them to use two separate patties and two slices of cheese so that you could just chop the Dutch roll in half and make 2 separate burgers. The fries were also really tasty--they were crispy, not salty, and not oily. My bf's dad got the Ham Steak & Eggs, and I learned that he didn't exaggerate when he said that the ham was as big as the plate. The size of the ham didn't compromise the quality of it, either.

Bonus points to Bodines for having a big bottle of Tabasco sauce on the table (along with ketchup, mustard, & mayonnaise). We didn't need to bother our servers for any condiments.

Bodines Restaurant has earned its place in my "Must Go To" list when I revisit this area.

They have very good hot wings ( I order mine extra hot!) and the small salad is good with the fresh ground pepper. Good grilled steaks too, the sirlon and New York strip are good portion and quality.

My first visit to Bodines was a few years close to when they first opened. Everybody have raved about because of what it was previous. To be honest that first visit I was not very impressed at all and told my wife it was not all good.

Then about a year later my wife got a gift card for the place. We had seen the advertisements for the $7.77 dinner and thought that we would give it a try. Since the meal was going to be free how bad could it get?

We were really surprised...  the service had changed and the menu improved all with some really affordable prices.

For a nice meal at a great price you can't go wrong with this place. They have a really friendly and attentive staff.

When we pass through Carson City which is a couple of times a month we seem to stop at Bodines and it is always during the breakfast hour.

Every now and again we have to wait but usually seated straight away and always where we want along the window bank.

It is a comfortable place with clean friendly décor.

No matter the server they are always attentive and smiling.

My food is as I ask for it each time and more often than not way more than I can eat at a very reasonable price. By the way the ham of the ham and eggs is huge, you know the size one gets in the store and often even less cost than the store. It is tender and not overly salty like so many hams one gets. I mention this because unless you are someone who can eat really large amounts of food this can be split between two or even three folks.

Anyway it is a great place to stop for a very decent meal at a very reasonable price.

Bodines is the type of place you eat at because the staff is friendly and learns your name, the food is decent, and the restaurant t has a certain charm to it, it feels like a upscale dive (if that makes any sense what so ever :p)
Great burgers, and good breakfast specials I will be back!

The food wasn't bad,  the prices are pretty cheap and they have several "Specials" at $7.77 each that seemed decent but we opted for the "Monster" burger and a margherita pizza.
The burger was indeed a "Monster"~ it came on a dutch crunch roll and was actually two hamburger patties, so you really get two burgers for somewhere around $8.50. It came with an entire sliced avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion and a generous helping of fries. The pizza was blah...zero sauce (and that goes for olive oil and garlic too) and too much cheese made the whole thing limp.

What really affected my 2 star rating was the seating...the dining room was pretty decent and as the host started to lead us to a booth facing the view, he realized the table wasn't bussed and re-directed us to another booth facing the doorway to the kitchen. Booooooo.. about five minutes into our menu browsing we became aware that all of the servers were standing about 3 feet away from us, watching our every move. I wasn't sure if they thought we were going to steal the silverware or if they were waiting for us to decide what to order. After another few minutes, we realized that all the servers stand at that particular spot to survey their stations and lucky us just happened to be in their direct line of vision.
I have never been so uncomfortable dining in a restaurant...to have five people standing a few feet away, watching every bite you take and every move you make, does NOT make for a relaxing meal. Now I know what zoo animals feel like...if I had a cave I would've retreated to its privacy!

In spite of the cheap prices, huge hamburger and reasonable "Specials", I won't be back...I can still feel them staring and I didn't touch the damn silverware!

We went to Bodines and ordered beef stew,it was more like soup and very salty, there was hardly any beef in it and the garlic bread was not great either, could not taste any garlic. The servers are wonderful and have good people skills. If you go try the fish and the pork chop, which is pretty good.After--have a good time in the casino.

It's getting late and we're heading back to Reno from Lake Tahoe.  We're hungry and can't wait until we get to town.  A quick stop at Costco for gas and we see Bodine's Casino right across.  They must have food there, right?

We're surprised with how updated and modern this casino is.  All new machines, and definitely some new ones we've never seen before (and we're coming from Vegas)!

Bodines Restaurant appears to be open and it looks quite modern in there too.  The menu had something for everyone, which makes it easy for us to order.  We also were there in time for their $7.77 menu - 7 dinners available everyday for that price.  (A house salad also comes with these dinners too.)

    * Beef Stroganoff "Tri tips of beef braised in red wine, Madeira and mushrooms.  Served over a bed of buttered egg noodles and finished with a dollop of sour cream and fresh herbs." ($7.77) - A generous portion that put the Husband into food coma, and he didn't even finish the whole plate.  Don't order this dish if you're driving, you'll be too stuffed to keep going!

    * Pork Chop "Lightly pounded 8 oz center-cut pork chop marinated in olive oil, salt and pepper.  Garnished with herbed country style potatoes, green beans and roasted cherry tomatoes.  Served with stone-ground mustard." ($7.77) - A tasty pork chop, although a tad dry.  The mustard definitely helps with it though, and gives it a nice kick. They also serve it up with a side of apple sauce too.  My plate was licked clean when I was done.

    * Prime Rib Beef Dip "Prime Roast beef with caramelized onions and provolone cheese on a Dutch Crunch Roll." ($8.50) - Our friend ordered this dish and I didn't even have to ask him how it was because the plate was empty when I finally got a chance to take a look to see how he was doing with it.  Enough said.

Service was perfectly fine when we went.  We didn't have to wait too long for anything.  Our beverages were refilled without asking, and the server was there to help the waiter with everything else.  The manager came by twice to check up on us as well.  So, we really had nothing bad to say service-wise.

Overall, not a bad stop in between the two cities.  Stop for a bite to eat, gamble a bit, and be on your way.  Lots of choices on the menu for under $10.
