2 thumbs way up. They service was great and the food was amazing. This was my first visit and I am sure to return. We had the mixed dips and lavas bread, which was a lot of fun. I had the moussaka which was simply divine! Everyone else in my party was also very pleased with their entrees. Try the Kunefe for dessert, it's a little different but certainly worth it.
Review Source:So... my issue with them before was that our waiter promised us an appetizer (the lavas) in 7 minutes... I thought at the time that it was a weird number to say. Not 5, not 10, but 7. So 7 minutes come and go and then another 30 minutes and we finally get our lavas. Meanwhile the table next to us had 2 lavas in that amount of time. So it wasn't that they didn't have any available. We brought a friend with us from out of town, and thought we could impress her by taking her to a nice restaurant. Well, we were very embarrassed for choosing a place with such bad service. With the lack of refills on our drinks, 2 1/2 hour dinner, Â and just bad service in general, I was very disappointed.
Well, after my first review, the owner contacted me and apologized for the bad service. And offered to mail us a gift certificate and to come back and give it another shot. I accepted and emailed him back explaining the situation and gave him by contact info.
Needless to say, I never heard from him. It has been around 6 months. Never got the gift card. Nothing.
Now, of course, I didn't write the review expecting anything from it, I was just giving an honest review, Â but if you are going to promise a gift card, then you should actually send it. If you promise a lavas in 7 minutes, then you should really bring one out at least somewhere close to that time period.
I guess that's their M.O. Management and staff. Broken promises.
Enjoyed an amazing 2+ hour dinner with a couple we don't see often enough (luv Shelley & John)! It was an expensive meal-over $300- but we had a couple bottles of wine (try "the Boxer", a great spicy Cabernet) and a couple of appetizers in addition to our entrees. Service was excellent and atmosphere was perfect. A dark, intimate setting but with a nice, lively "buzz" that comes with people enjoying themselves.
Calamari- very good, but small portion for the price
Lavas & bubaganoush- DELICIOUS
Falafel- thin, too crisp, almost burnt
Lamb Shank- fall-off-the bone tender, husband ordered it spicy & loved it
