If you haven't been here yet-- you must go!

As a resident of Manchester, I am VERY happy that a place like this exists! My husband and I went just the two of us to the dueling pianos show, and we had such a great time that we are going back in a couple weeks with a big group of friends! We couldn't stop raving about it to them. We are music lovers and enjoyed singing along with the crowd and the entertainment from the piano players! Even more exciting when we threw down some cash and they played our song!

We sat at the bar when we went, as we didn't know about the reserved seating. However, our seats were fantastic and we were comfortable sitting at the bar-- I would sit there again in a heartbeat. The food selection wasn't bad, could have a few more appetizer choices in my opinion. It's pub like fare, and there are only 4 app choices. But we had the nachos and chicken tenders which held us over. There is a large selection of beer and wine, however, no liquor.

All in all-- such a great place! The service at the bar was very good and the bar tenders and managers were very friendly. I can't speak for the table service. I give it 4 stars only because the menu selections and no liquor... sorry, I'm a vodka girl ;-) Can't wait to celebrate my friend's birthday there in August with all of our friends!

    Eh.

That really is all I can say about this place.  I come back because an artist I like plays here occasionally, but otherwise I don't come.  Since my last time at Boynton's they got rid of a majority of the tables and chairs and replaced them with low sofas.  Although comfortable, I couldn't see the artist I just paid to see.

The food is not that good and the desserts are frozen.  If you're lucky enough that the dessert has been thawed you can at least expect that it will be ice cold to the point of freezing your teeth.  They only have beer and wine and what they have is really overpriced (wine is roughly $9-11/glass for wine that isn't that good, and beer is $9/each).  If I'm already paying to see an artist I don't want to pay $50 for two drinks and a frozen dessert.

Each time that I go to Boynton's I keep hoping that it will have changed.  And while some menu options have changed, they're not that good.  This last show my husband and I went to will likely be our last.

The food is largely shipped in frozen. The beer and wine is a poor selection for a place that calls itself a taproom, and everything is way too expensive.

For example, 2 pieces of largely frozen lemon chiffon cake, one glass of Riesling and two pints of a local pumpkin ale came to $43. (The ales were $9 per glass.)

If you're seeing a show at Boynton's, do yourself a favor and have dinner before you go there.

Lemme sum up:  Excellent venue, good entertainment, good food, OK service

A group of us went to Boynton's after an online search for comedy in the Manch-Vegas area and coming up with nothing for Friday's except here.  We took a chance and it turned out pretty well.

After reading the reviews on food we had initially decided to meet at Fratello's, located next door, and then slip over to Boynton's for the show.  Fratello's was SWAMPED so we just headed over to Boynton's and kept our finger's crossed.

The entire taproom can be viewed from the hostess podium and it's quite hipster swanky.  An S curved bar with track lighting, comfy chairs, couch seating in some areas, and typical table/chair seating surround the main stage where the dueling pianos or comedians are set up (depending on what the evening's show is).

The food selection is actually pretty good.  I'd classify it as upscale pub.  We had the jalapeno cheddar ale dip which was perfect for three to four people, fresh mozzarella stack which was a caprese dish and huge, a pulled pork sandwich and two buffalo chicken sandwiches that were big enough to satisfy and went well with the beers.  Bring on the Chimayyyyy...*POP*!

So why not the 5th star?  Service was a little slow.  OK, it was a lot slow.  Had to ask where the chips and cheddar ale dip was after we'd finished our drinks and the server asked if we'd like to order a second round.  The chips "appetizer" eventually found their way to our table after the waitress brought out our entrees.  Hmmm.  I think she was embarrassed as hell because we never saw her again until after the show when she brought us our cheque.  Meh.  One bad server did put a damper on the night, but we were laughing so hard from the comedians that it was just a side note, really.

So glad Boynton's is here!  Finally, upscale entertainment in a classy environment for nowhere near the price of Boston.  Thank  you, Boynton's!

    Great place!
Went here for a comedy show we saw advertised in Hippo (if I remember the name right) and it was great.
The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and almost home feeling.
My bf and I ordered the spinach artichoke dip to munch on between laughing and it was alright. Lot of chip for not so much dip.
It's a nice place to hang out and enjoy a show but just to go there for the food or drinks...hmmm I'd have to see other options first.

Boynton's Taproom has been a great addition to the night life in Manchester, NH. I have been to several live music shows and many comedy nights. I always leave with my sides hurting from the comedians being so funny! Great atmosphere and always a GREAT night out!

Boynton's Taproom: not quite a bar, not quite a restaurant.  I would have to classify this place as something uniquely it's own: an inimate function-bar. It's only been open since January 2010.
    -
Not quite a function hall, but not quite a full bar or full-blown restaurant either, Boynton's Taproom is a place that is only open when a live act  is booked.  You can also rent out the space yourself for a private function.  You would never say to a friend "I'm hungry, let's go to Boynton's Taproom" or "Let's get a drink over at Boynton's"; Not only is it tough to say, but you can only get in if you buy a ticket (generally in advance) for whatever live act they have booked - and even then it's only Friday and Saturday nights. For the time being - Friday nights are live comedy (which apparently sells out) and Saturday night is live jazz (or some form thereof).
    -
So now that you know what kind of place this is, let's get into detail: It's tucked away on the second floor of one of those monstrosities in Manchester NH leftover from the industrial age. Hard to find, you feel as though you've parked at an office park when you arrive. But inside and up 1 floor on an elevator, try to ignore the feeling that you're in an office park and walk straight out of the elevator and into a GORGEOUS space: Boynton's Taproom.  This used to be a training facility for LaBatt's - and the space itself hasn't changed much.  There's an enormous bar- the most beautiful curved wood bar I've ever seen, a small stage set 2 feet off the ground, faux-street-shop designs along one corner of the place (think Disney World's main street) and that exposed-brick thing going on throughout the joint.
    -
The tables right on the stage (4 of them) are normal height, but every other table is a bar table - so it's not like a sit-down restaurant.  The height is obviously so you can see the live act, but still it's weird.
    -
The bar is not a full bar - which is a shame for such a gorgeous bar!  Just beer and wine here, folks.  I didn't expect that - this place looks like the type that would have it's own "Boynton's martini" or something. No dice.
    -
Our waitress, Sarah, was awesome - I talked to her for a bit about the history of the place, what it's function is, the chef, etc.  She was great.
    -
We got a round of drinks and parused the menu.  That took 1 minute: the menu is TINY.  There were 4 of us and we just about found enough to keep us happy.
Let's talk food: The theme is tapas and the chef here is a new young guy - hopefully he will come into his own soon as we weren't blown away by anything.
Jalapeno and Vermont Cheddar fondue: Pretty good. It comes with these nicely baked chips and 3 little sides for dipping (pineapple salsa, guacamole, black bean dip). I would say that cheese bit wasn't the most flavorful - and hardly spicy at all. The sides rocked - that salsa was awesome.
Spinach and Artichoke dip: A standard these days. Very good here. I recommend it.  We all liked it.
Honey-thyme glazed meatballs: OK. A bit overcooked. Not a big portion for 4 people. I had like 1/2 a meatball and a piece of sausage.
We also got a special: A seafood stuffed pepper.  I did ask and was told the chef was trying something new (and not merely getting rid of old ingredients). It was not memorable.  Mind you, the theme of the food here is tapas and a 1/2 stuffed pepper is the most awkward thing to share. It came with a rice pilaf which was all right.
Desert - I ordered the two specials and wanted the two menu items as well - but was then told they didn't have the 2 desert items listed on the menu!  Huh?  Anyhow - desert was a caramel cheesecake thing which was GREAT. And a chocolate-cake thing which was only ok.
    -
You can't find a menu online and even when we showed up the waitress took our menu saying it was an old one.  So - you'll never know what you're gonna get here.
    -
The live act that night was jazz/poetry by Charles Mingus' son.  If you don't know Charles Mingus, I feel bad for you!  it was a memorable show, that's for sure. But there were only 30 people in the audience, and so you felt very awkward eating while the show was going on.  Every clink you made felt like an interuption.
    -
Go here for the show and atmosphere, but don't expect much in terms of food or drink.  We left hungy.

WOW! What a great place. Just what downtown Manchester was missing.

My husband and I attended a Thursday evening comedy show. We arrived about 45 minutes early and the place was full but didn't feel crowded. We grabbed a couple of seats at the bar and our bartender Amanda was right there to help with the menu. She asked a couple of questions and recommended a wine that we loved.

They serve a tapas menu so we tried a few different items. Everything tasted wonderful but again the outstanding part was Amanda the bartender, she was one step ahead of us at all times. Grabbing more pita for our very generous serving of hummus and chips to enjoy all of a salsa based dish before I even thought to ask.

The owner made the rounds and was very friendly, it looked to me like he loves his new place. This kind of owner involvement can definitely make or break  a little place.

The comedy was top notch and I will be back for future shows. This is a must do for anyone who loves to laugh. Overall I couldn't have had a better experience.

Prices were in line with other "nice" mill yard establishments. Tapas started at $6.00 and bottles of wine started around $25.00
