    This place is super cute!

    Pros:
    1. The food is delish! No, really...delish!
    2. There is a large public lot about 1/4 block away that is free after 6pm.

    Cons:
    1. It was hot in there. I was very glad when they turned the A/C on (after we had been sweating for about 45 minutes).
    2. They are sllllooowww. I was about to start eating the butter on the table. LOL. They were so slow that I really would have left (but I was there with friends).
    3. The staff don't seem to have all of the same information. One server thought that happy hour extended to the tables but the other one told us it didn't after we asked about it when we got our bill. While I won't go broke off of $3, I was highly annoyed.

    Long and short:

I would definitely go back to this place. The food is great.

We went here for brunch on Sunday. First impression walking through a sea of cigarette butts to get to the front porch to be greeted by two over flowing flower pots full of cigarette butts and an ash tray right by the front door was not promising. We arrived shortly after they opened so we were on of 3 tables seated in the restaurant. We were seated in the downstairs dinning room. All of the other reviews here are "late night" so maybe this place fares better when it is dimly lit because it is absolutely filthy. Our table cloth was dirty, the curtains were hanging off the walls and the tired remnants of Christmas decorations were covered with cobwebs. Again, overall first-impression wasn't getting any better. We ordered the skinny dip appetizer (3 cold dips, cucumber slices & pita). It took 15 minuets to arrive at the table seconds before the entrees. The entrees were a breakfast panini and pop pop's breakfast ( made with bacon, because they were out of ham.....at 12:30). Both sandwiches were cold which went well with the cold appetizer we had just started to eat. I'm all for the small independent business owner, but there should still be standards......starting with the cleanliness of the restaurant inside and out. It makes me very wary when the parts of a restaurant you can see are that dirty, what is going on in the areas not in view of the public. I  hate patronizing chain restaurants, but I also hate spending one of my rare Sundays off eating sub-par food in a filthy environment. There are so many promising places for dinner in Towson, but brunch is another story. For all of you who laud the late night merits of this place, do yourselves a favor...never go there in the day light and never go there for brunch.

I love this place. Quiet atmosphere, great for a date, or Sunday brunch. French toast is not tho be missed for brunch, panini's great for dinner or lunch. Well stocked bar, plenty of top shelf names, as well as your standards. Bartenders are knowledgable and give good recemandations.   Have very good french press coffee and free wifi. Also hosts live music occasionally, which draws a large crowd.

I loved this little place. I organized a dinner for 15 of my sorority sisters. The Food was super fresh and was prepared very well. I was concerned as there only seemed to be 2 servers but they handled our group very well along with the rest of the restaurant.

My only complaint would be that all their checks are hand written. So this made paying our bill difficult as we were paying separately. I tried to make this easier by bringing in my own breakout sheets to help.

I love that they are open late and will be going back here again and again.

Food was reasonably priced, although portions a bit small for me.  We sat in the outdoor area and noticed that people were smoking...not sure if its legal this close to the building.  We didn't really smell anything though and didn't afffect the experience too much.  Staff was friendly.

I LOVE Bread & Circuses. I love the atmosphere, both outside on the deck and inside the restaurant ( though it can be a little tight inside when it's busy ).
The food for me has consistently been delicious, flavorful, and perfect for a late night meal. If you're looking for a big meal, this isn't the place.
My personal favorites are their Wine Lovers Plates, The Claude, Filet Mignon, and Chicken Mykonos.
The beer selection is excellent, they sometimes don't have all their beers on the menu but the staff gives out great suggestions.
The staff has always been really friendly even at 1AM in the morning hah.
And if you couldn't tell, they're open pretty late most days (2amish) which is perfect for me since I don't usually leave work until 10pm in which case most restaurants are closed or on the verge of closing.

I walk the streets of Towson often and in the six years I've worked in the area, this is the first time I've even seen this restaurant. Eager for new tastes and experiences we decided, despite the strange name, to give this place a try. When you walk in the front door, the place seems tiny and the bar is in-fact tiny. However if you take the time to glance around, the place has a nice seating area and has a very comfortable and homey feel. The day however, was too nice to ignore and we decided to sit on the, keeping the small theme going, wee patio. I should clarify that this is a lunch review and doesn't reflect the dinner menu or the ambiance inside other then what I have mentioned.

To the food. We ordered sandwiches, chicken salad and their version of a cheese steak. The food came out fast and was plated in a simple yet detailed way with fruit on the side (grapes) and delicious, seemingly homemade, chips. The bread was a multi-grain variety and was soft, fresh and delish! The chicken salad had fruit and nuts and was also tasty and subtly flavored. The cheese steak was a slight dissapointment. I was excited when it came out because the steak looked like a thick cut of roast beef which was unusual for a cheese-steak but in my opinion a great twist on the traditional dish. Alas I was let down as the sandwich lacked flavor. So great idea, lackluster execution. Despite that, the rest of the meal went smoothly. The waiter was polite and friendly and attentive. As the weather chilled a bit we ordered coffee which was fresh and excellent.

All in all, an enjoyable experience although I was not blown away by any means. I was and am still puzzled by the name. I found out that it was derived by a Roman saying "panem et circenses" which means bread or games which was a metaphor for a superficial means of appeasement. Interesting choice.

Give this place a try and decide for yourself and if dinner is as good as lunch, you will have an enjoyable evening.

Went here with a friend for lunch and it was really good.  It was about 12:30 on a Friday and we were initially the only ones there - which always gives me a slightly uncomfortable feeling.  The decor was quaint and kind of "artsy" and the bar had maybe 5 seats - definitely not a place with a bar crowd.

The beer and wine list was very nice and very reasonable.

For lunch my friend got a bowl of crab soup to start and lobster ravoli (came with a small salad) for his entree.  He said everything was wonderful.  I orderd a salad with mixed berries, sliced almonds,, goat cheese, and a maple vinagrette - I added a piece of grilled salmon.  My salad was awesome, the fish was a huge piece and perfectly cooked.

By the time we finished around 2pm there were 2 other couples their eating but it still felt like more of a dinner place.

    Definitely worth a visit!

Food was wonderful. Filet Mignon from regular menu and Tenderloin special delivered juicy, tasty, very tender meat (some of the best we've ever experienced). Side dishes were creatively spiced, even zucchini had a nice tang to it. Wait staff was attentive but not overly fussy. Restaurant is a little cramped (in an old house) and fills up on Saturday night (about 20 tables), so reservations are in order.

I love this place.  It is  my go-to for late night food. They have amazing sandwiches and I had the most amazing steak special one Saturday night. They also have a very good scotch selection.

This place is a very nice change in pace in comparison to the other bars in the Towson area.  They have a patio with live music most nights, it is a great scene.

Back when this place was the French Press Cafe, it had some tasty sandwiches and yummy coffee. I enjoyed lunch there on several occasions when I had work to do at the District Courthouse across the street.

Truly, though, the new name is so catastrophically stupid that I haven't been able to make myself set foot back inside. Bread and Circuses? Really? I don't want to be reminded of the decline of the Roman empire in an economic meltdown like we're experiencing now.  :p

Very very nice.  There was a nice restaurant for a date night inside with an amazing looking menu.

I sat outside for the open mic night (in which I performed) and the people and bar tender were great!  I got a mocha and they burned the milk (steamed it for too long) but that's ok :)  I'll def be coming back and actually ordering food!

Sit outside on a nice night and enjoy yourself!

It's a pretty casual place. We walked into the restaurant and the manager told us to choose a place to sit. The 1st dining area is dark and cozy and the 2nd one is found down the steps and is more open and sunny. It was a little too hot to sit on the deck for lunch.

The menu includes appetizers, soups, sandwiches, paninis, entrees plus a coffee and full service bar. It definitely has a cafe feel. We started with a trio of dips: hummus, tzatziki and egglplant spread served with pita and cucumber rounds. The eggplant was sweet and spicy and definitely a winner for me. You get a lot of dip and pita, so this is the perfect appetizer to share between 4 people.

My friend opted for the Salvador (salads are named after artists), a salad topped with fat scallops, sliced dates, and roasted red peppers over a bed of greens. They kindly substituted the red peppers for mushrooms for my friend. I enjoyed the Jerry Garcia, a portobello mushroom, red pepper, mixed greens, and Swiss cheese sandwich stuffed between multi-grain bread. Both were very tasty and felt light and fresh. Since it was a nice light lunch, we had room for dessert.

Their desserts come from Patisserie Poupon, so they are delicious and picture perfect. We ate the chocolate and raspberry cake topped with raspberry jelly cubes. It was light, rich and perfect for that chocolate craving. Plus, we had this fantastic pistachio cake (similar to an almond cake) topped with fresh strawberries. The cake was dense, lightly sweet and a nice twist on strawberry shortcake. That was one of the best cakes I've had in a long time.

It wasn't busy at this time of day with about 5 tables of patrons. Our server was pleasant, she wasn't speedy and seemed to be pretty laid back, too. Overall, it was a nice leisurely lunch with decent food.

You can park in the public lot (at the corner of Delaware and Pennsylvania) for up to 3 hours. The machine accepts credit cards, too. There seems to be 2 entrances, one on Delaware and one on Chesapeake, in case you get turned around. It looks like a house with a side deck.
