Scattered among the chain restaurants and fake water features of Bricktown, there are some genuine cool places. Â Bricktown Brewery is one of them. Â
First, I would have drank mud if I could have done it in air conditioning, so that was awesome. Â We were told to try the salads and so we did. Â I had the cluck, oink, moo and my friend had the fried chicken salad. Â Both were delicious and cheap. Â We also availed ourselves of the draft beers for $1.50 until 7PM. Â
Macy was our waitress and was totally cool. Â Clearly a customer favorite. Â She even let me ask questions about her earrings which stretch holes in her lobes. Â (Always curious about that). Â And we found a spot to charge our cell phones. Â
Would totally return. Â Maybe without the heat stroke.
Stopped here for a late lunch on a Tuesday. The red ale was good, I'm impressed by OK's red ales I have had. Also had the pork on pork sandwich. The sauce is delightful, slight sweetness but a hint of heat which I enjoy. The slaw was ok, not a fan of peanuts but added a nice crunch. Fries are good but standard fare. Â Service was average.
Review Source:The only food I've tasted from this establishment is one of their salads, and it was pretty dang tasty. The price was a little steep for a frugal person, but it was big enough that I wouldn't complain about the price. A friend that I met there got the chicken fried steak - which was was pretty much taking over her whole plate!
I didn't really check out the prices of everything else, so I'm assuming it's the same as the salad - tad bit pricey, but made up for in the quantity and not slacking in the flavor department. Â
There are plenty of booths, tables, and pool tables to hang out at.
Another time, I met with a group from http://Meetup.com and my beer was paid for. The service was normal - not too slow and not checking up on you every five minutes.
Clean, not crowded, no smoking, not too loud.
After I ate here the next day I was kicking it with the owner of the OKC Thunder (jelly?) so this feels like total crap in comparison. Â The food was good but every beer you order comes in a can and they don't pour it for you which is just disappointing on so many levels. Â Had probably 4 beers and didn't really get much of a buzz on
Review Source:My review is strictly based off of the drinks I had, so the food might've swayed my opinion if I tried it. However, the drinks were absolutely awful and overpriced. The long island ice tea I ordered was too strong that I had to wait for the ice in my drink to melt and dilute the drink in order to finally finish it. That is just one of the examples of the few disgusting drinks I ordered. The place was not that bad though, but this is not a place I would return to.
Review Source:I stay downtown a lot and compare and contrast with this place with Tapwerks. I think Tapwerks has the edge on the types, breadth, and effort put into the beers. I think they have better beer and more taps than BB, and better food.
BB features more of a local focus, with a strong emphasis on local breweries. However - under the category of "unexpected good news", BB has a better collection of whiskeys. If you want to finish your evening with a pour of Blanton's, then try BB. BB also has 2 separate bars, one upstairs and one downstairs.
I first visited the Bricktown Brewery 18 years ago, right after the Federal Building was destroyed. Â On my recent roadtrip cross country, I was pleased to see that the business was still open and Bricktown has grown greatly in size and scope. Â
Bottom line, this place is a great spot to relax, eat bar food and drink beer. Â Lots of TV's in the bar, moderate beer prices with a huge selection, and an impressive menu with really low prices. Â If you're in the OKC area, drop by and check the place out.
Decent spot in Bricktown.. House brews were described as "okay." Â I'd agree with that statement in regards to the food too. Â My cocktails were nice for the price (Absolut $6, when house wells are $5).. Service was good. Â Not too crowded at 9pm on a Fri night. Â Best part was the live music that started at 9pm (free, no cover).
Review Source:Not bad; but brews not exceptional
We stopped here for a couple beers. There was no cover despite the live music, but the beers were mediocre. They taste like the standard offerings at any bar and I wouldn't recommend them especially or say that they are worth trying. However, the service was good and the atmosphere was fun so I would come here again.
I loved the fact that this restaurant was smoke free! I hate dealing with second hand smoke and leaving with smelly clothes! I wouldn't recommend hanging out on the second floor - not everything on the menu was available to order, only certain beers and you can only get appetizers. That was disappointing to find out because I was starving. Our group would've spent more money if they had let us order what we wanted. I suppose you can walk downstairs and order the beer you want then bring it back up. I ordered chicken strips which were decent but didn't exactly help my hunger.
I liked how spacious this building was. There were lots of room to move around without bumping into people. There were pool tables upstairs which were close to each other so you might bump into people playing at the next table. I had a good time here. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. There were lots of TVs around to watch a Thunder game that was going on.
On my trip I wanted to hit at least one brewery. I have had a few rude experiences with drinking beer lately and decided to keep it at a minimum when it came to drinking. I decided to go to this brewery because I have been meaning to go to Bricktown for several years, since I was last in OKC.
The brewery was really good! I had One-Eyed Willy Wheat Beer which tasted good and smooth! The food was good too and the portions were generous. I had a nice fresh salad and mashed potatoes and meatloaf! A very fine meal!
Whenever I am back to OKC I will make this a stop whenever I want a good beer!
LOVE! Greeted promptly, all wait staff was friendly. Tried the Wiley One-eyed wheat, great smooth taste. Lots of food for your money! If you are near Bricktown this place is a must! Ate the Chopped and Chipped, great nachos! Husband ate the Pork on pork sandwhich, he loved this. Chopped beef and bacon awesome together with BBQ sauce. Loved the live music they had!
Review Source:Stopped here on my drive across the country. I wanted something close by the Oklahoma City memorial and this was perfect. I stopped in right around noon and was seated right away. My waiter was super helpful and got my drinks and food out to me right away. I had the pimiento cheese burger which was exceptional and tried their wheat beer which was also very good. I imagine that there is a decent bar crowd for happy hour and their bar was definitely big enough to accommodate a crowd.
Review Source:Who drinks water at a brewery? Me! And I liked it.
We were greeted promptly and taken to a booth. The table was super sticky but our server moved us to a new table with a smile on her face. The service while a little slow was friendly.
I ordered the Bronzed Salmon, which is seriously one of my favorite things on earth. It was really good! the fish was tender and grilled perfectly.
I just started going to Bricktown Brewery recently and I really like this place.
I have never had food from here, just their beer, which they brew all in-house. Â I don't even think they serve any beer but their own, but that's fine with me because the One-Eyed-Willy Wheat Beer is REALLY good.
Downstairs is a restaurant with a few keg-tables. Â You reserve a table with a tap in it and bring seven or so friends along and just pay for the beer by the keg. Â We've been trying to get the table for a while (I think they have 2) but they always get reserved way in advance.
Whenever I go I always head upstairs. Â They have a good sized bar and the place usually has people but it doesn't take long to get a brew. Â They also have 4 pool tables and dart boards.
Only downside- they always close early and it's at the bartender's discretion, i.e. things are looking pretty beat at 1:15am, they will close up.
For quality of food and beer, I would afford Bricktown Brewery Restaurant & Pub a total of 3 stars. But I got great service, and in this day and age of hustle and bustle, that can often be misconstrued and disguised as nothing more than consistency and efficiency i.e. robots.
I popped a squat at the bar, and I will say that the $4.25 price tag was steep for a ~12oz. pour of their Bricktown Brown. Was this because of regulation? Can some OK folk let me know what the deal was with this? The Brown itself was a little unbalanced. The creaminess got a little lost with so much hoppiness. I prefer my Browns a little closer to character to stouts.
Pimento cheese gets my motor churning, and my experience here was reminiscent of some of my long weekends in the past. I would go around new towns, eat pimento cheese, and drink. Unfortunately, the pimento cheese here was extremely mediocre. I found it to be on the runny side, and the lack of complex cheesy flavors was unfortunate. I can look past this.
I specifically very much enjoyed the vibe here because many of the small towns in the US that I have enjoyed feel very similar in their old town, offering lots of large warehouses and the like with a couple of local brewpubs. OK's Bricktown district is no different, and this is a good addition to the neighborhood, for sure.
We went to Bricktown Brewery for drinks after a LONG day of driving from Memphis. The place (the entire Bricktown area actually) seemed a little dead, but it was Monday night of Memorial Day weekend...
We didn't really eat - pretty much nothing on the menu was vegetarian anyway, but we nibbled some fries - they were good, nothing special.
The beers: between 2 of us, we had the brown, the wheat, and the kolsch. I thought the brown was very good, the wheat was not one of the better wheat beers I've had, and it was the first time I had Kolsch, so nothing to compare it to. Unfortunately, they were out of the seasonal and the red :(
The service was good - the hostess answered all of our questions about Oklahoma City. When we got our bill we were surprised to see that our first round of beers was only $2.25 each - hurrah for happy hour! But, no one mentioned the happy hour specials to us, and we might have ordered our second round faster to get the lower price, or ordered more since the first round was so cheap!
This is the second time I have been here, and I don't even live in Oklahoma. Â The beer is always great. Â Unfortunately, this was the last place we hit while bar hopping and I was running out of steam. Â So I enjoyed some dark delicious beer and we headed back to the hotel room. Â Long drive in the morning and I knew my body was going to be upset with me.
I remember the burgers were very good on my last visit. Â You cannot deny the beer. Â Very tasty.
Sweet potato fries with peanut butter sauce, bacon and banana chips? I couldn't resist and it actually wasn't that bad. Shameful.
I was here for business and wanted to have a casual meal with some local beer and this place couldn't have been better. The beers were tasty, but they seemed like they could have only been 3.2% - I'm not sure. The burger was awesome and they have a very creative menu with the aforementioned sweet potato fries among other options. My co-worker got the sirloin and wasn't impressed, but this place doesn't make itself out to be a steakhouse so you're better off with a burger or sandwich.
There was even one table with beer taps built right into the table - how awesome is that.
The moment I walked into this place, I realized I had been here before, many many years ago. I love a staple of a city that is still there years after your first visit.
Thank you.
The staff is good. Fast and good. The waiter knew his beers and his descriptions were accurate and his suggestions were perfect.
The food was good. We shared a burger and an appetizer, and moshed on beer.
They have pool tables upstairs.
A great place to hang, or just enjoy a good beer.
In two visits here, I have never had the food, so I cannot comment on that. I have only had the beers, and they were...well, they were OK. The best thing is that happy hour (5-7pm on weekdays, I think) has 1/2 price beers...so $2 per beer. Beer tastes a lot better at $2 a pint, so I can accept the fact that the beer is fairly mediocre in taste, and far from anything inventive - just your standard options of brown ale, wheat, koelsch, etc.
Service was fast and friendly, which helped.
I admit that I'm rather partial to places that are in house breweries and feature better than average pub food. Â I was very pleased to sample the summer Jazzberry Wheat beer and the best skillet cornbread I have ever tasted. Â So moist! Â And what is the secret ingredient? Â
Can we also talk about the fact that you can have the Fat Elvis Fries, which are sweet potato fries with peanut sauce, chopped peppered bacon, and dried bananas?! Â
A healthy dose of air conditioning makes this is a great summer stop.
This is an interesting place. It seems as though they are trying to combine the feel of a sports bar, with a BJ's Brewery. It is right in the heart of Bricktown, and experiences high traffic during most sports games. Frankly, this place is a little dirty. You can tell that this place has either been here for awhile, or hasn't been renovated lately. Booths are a little crack and the floors dirty.
Now as far as the food goes, I am in a bit of a pickle on what to say. Do I talk about the few good meals I have had here? Or do I write about the MANY poor meals I have had. The interesting part of my experiences is the fact that all my good meals have occurred on a Friday night here. Yet all my cruddy meals have been every time else. So maybe you should only eat here during the weekend rushes.
When the cooks are on fire, the meals here are great! They make a delicious mushroom burger, and their chicken tenders are fantastic. However, when the cooks aren't on their A game, you might as well avoid this place. This is a real let-down since I WANT to like this place, but I just can't justify it when 6 out of 8 meals have been sub-par.
Unless you get incredibly lucky and find street parking, you have to pay $5 to park in their lot.
The staff is made primarily up of either career waiters or young kids. So typically you land the 16 year old who is more concerned with the hostess, than his tables. Sad.
This price, at first, seems fair. Typical Chilli's/Friday's prices when you don't account for $5 parking. If money plays, it doesn't play here.
So based on my food experiences, the price, and the staff I really have to say you should look elsewhere. Perhaps a BJ's or Cheesecake Factory?
A shout out to Kenzie! She was our rockin' server last Tuesday night. We came in just as all the screaming Thunder fans were exiting. Good timing ;)
We found a cozy booth in the bar and immediately ordered the Bricktown Brewery Beer Flight. All very good! I ended up with a pint of Hefe and a pint of the seasonal Dark Wolf. Honey went for two pints of Hefe. The Mom went for several vodka grapefruits... which reminds me - they have a full bar too! http://www.yelp.com/biz_…
Dinner was the salmon for me. Tender, fresh, flakey, moist - just about every adjective a salmon should be :)
Heck if I remember what Honey had. Â I was much too enthralled in my salmon. Â Did I mention it was tender and moist?
We lucked out because this place is going to be under new management, who are going to phase out the t-shirts. Â Luckily, Honey was able to get a Bricktown Red Ale t-shirt as a souvenir.
Great place in old downtown amongst brick warehouses and the Oklahoma City skyline. Â Definitely a great place to visit!
You had me at fried okra! I saw it on the menu outside, after noticing the chicken fried steak. It sold me!
BEST Heff beer I've ever had. The hint of banana was shockingly perfect. I could drink many glasses if I could! I only had the 1, tho. Sure wish I could buy it here in Cali.
The chicken fried steak was near perfect. The white gravy was fine and the steak was tender and crispy.
Fried okra was devine. Simply perfect. Hot, crispy, tasty and the okra still had a hint of the slime that most people dislike, but I LOVE.
The garlic mashed potatoes were just OK. I had to add salt and pepper, but the texture was good.
My server missed out on telling me his name or going over the specials. I was not offered dessert. (People around me were) But he was prompt in his service and friendly.
I hope to get another trip to OKC so I can stop in again. Thing is, this was such a good meal, I'd be hard pressed to try something else.
I love to sample local brews whenever I travel, so on a recent trip to OKC I made it a point to stop in at the Bricktown Brewery to sample some of the fine Oklahoma crafts. Overall, the beer was pretty good.
They had 5 options to choose from as well as an off the menu special Brown Ale. Unfortunately, they only had 3 of the 5 on tap, so that was a little disappointing. I opted for the Brown Ale - and it was really good. We also tried the Redbrick and the Wheat, both which were very good as well. We were just stoppin in or beers as we wandered around Bricktown, so I can't really comment on the food. It was mid-day, so we weren't there for the nightlife. We sat upstairs at the bar and it was just your average bar. Nothing too special - pool tables, shuffleboard, and a few tables. The ambiance was just ok. It was 75 degrees out so it was hard to sit inside that day. I'd love to go back and sample some of the other crafts on tap. Definitely a good stop on our pub crawl through Bricktown.
I am really surprised by all the bad reviews for this place. I have been here twice now, and had wonderful beer and food experiences both time. Mind you we just had appetizers. But when you are stopping in for a late night drink, or happy hour(like we did) thats all you really need.
My boyfriend and I were visiting my parents and we saw this brewery when we were walking around bricktown and thought we would give it a try. Being from Seattle we love craft beer, so we thought we might as well give OKC beer a try. I was definitely not disappointed. Plus, they have happy hour all day on Sunday. Seriously, $1.75 for a beer?!?!?!? WOW!!! That is awesome. I have had both their Wheat ale, which has a banana flavor, and is very delicious, and also their copper ale, which I liked even more, and I am not usually a big fan of copper ales. My boyfriend swears by the IPA. We were pleasantly surprised to find such good beer in OKC.
The real reason we loved it so much and went back a year later when we were in town though... Irish nachos. OMG these things are amazing. If you like in OKC, I wouldn't suggest getting them because you will get hooked and want to eat them all the time, and they are greasy, fattening and horrible for you. But if you only go to Bricktown once a year like me... totally try them. AMAZING! I think this is what heaven tastes like. The best, beer-battered french fries I have ever had, covered in cheese and bacon with sour cream and ranch on the side. We shared 2 between 5 of us and we were done in about 45 seconds, we couldn't stop eating. WOW.
Next time I am in OKC I will definitely have these again, and some more of their delicious beer. Maybe a couple since they are so cheap.
There are only two reasons for the two stars: 1. The server was incredibly sweet and helpful and 2. the space is pretty cool.
Went there because we arrived after 10:00 on a Friday and it was the only place I could find that was still serving food. However - only the "late night" menu was available, and I'd hardly call it food. Every item was meat and/or fried. Yuck. I got artichoke dip because it mentioned a vegetable, but naturally it was the usual greasy cheesy mess. And served with salty tortilla chips, not bread. Double greasy. G had nachos. Also bad, but strangely not as bad as the dip.
 The beers were awful.
Really, there is no reason to go there. Tapwerks has good beer if that's what you want. (We didn't go there because they had a cover charge.)
So go somewhere else and have better beer and better food.
So, what brought me to Bricktown Brewery?
Well, I was in search of the best beer deal for St. Patty's Day in Bricktown. After checking out an overpriced beer garden at the block party, my colleague and I decided to check out Bricktown Brewery. We were here only once before and all we remembered about that experience were the cheap beers.
When we walked inside, the place was packed! The bar area was full of green wigged pub crawlers wearing green beads and shot glass necklaces. Then there it was: a sign spelling out the specials of $2 irish stouts & $3 green beers. Awesome!
We proceeded to get on a waiting list for a table and then grabbed ourselves a couple green beers. Only $3! However, one beer down and I felt dissatisfied. I prefer strong beers. Darn those OK state alcohol laws. I also drank a glass of irish stout, but it wasn't notable either. I should have ordered a Guinness.
For dinner, I ordered onion rings (half off during happy hour) and fried catfish fingers with a house salad and fried okra ($9.99). The onion rings were good; crispy and evenly fried. The catfish fingers were even better with a crunchy cornbread crumb crust. The fried okra tasted just okay. I think I don't like okra. Period.
Overall, 3 stars. The beers were cheap, but mediocre.
We were 30 seconds away from walking out when finally, after at least 10 if not 15 minutes of quietly sitting in the booth with no one paying any attention to us. Â
The food was ok, the burger was decent, their microbrew version of a red ale was kind of punky tasting. Â Frankly, I don't feel like wasting any more time on reviewing this place. Â
Go elsewhere.
Not too bad for an Oklahoman brewery. Went for lunch on a weekend, and had a yummy salad and a nice pint of amber ale. Almost forgot I was in Oklahoma, until I went into the bathroom and heard a very hyper little girl trying to get a rise out of her grandmother:
Little Girl: I wanna get naked!
Grandmother: What? You need to pee pee and hurry up cause our food's at the table.
Little Girl: We could get naked and run to the table!
Grandmother: Okay, okay, that's enough.
Little Girl: I wanna punch Mama in the face!
Grandmother: What?! Why would you say that? Who taught you that? COME HERE!
Little Girl: Why? What are you going to do?
*audible slap on face*
Grandmother: There! No talk about hitting or punching! That language is wrong! Where'd you learn that?
The only thing I can give this place is the cheap in-house beer that they have specials on. The beer sucks mind you, but it's cheap. I don't really blame them for the beer sucking, the Oklahoma blue laws kill any creativity there.
The food is typical bar fare. The bar scene upstairs is a bunch of dudes standing around listening to bad music that is played too loud while drinking in house beers from snotty bartenders. Meh. Again, too bad about the beer, it would help to get tanked quicker to enjoy it all.
