    Food so, so at best.
However outraged by being charged the ridiculous price of $23.00 for an overcooked artichoke appetizer (price not on menu, nightly special).
What nerve, most of the menu entrees were priced lower than that.
I do not like being ripped off and will never return. Too many good Italian to waste time here.

Brioso is one of my favorite restaurants. We go there for special occasions and date night. Always guaranteed a fabulous meal. The Mozzarella Carozza is a food orgasm. All the pasta dishes are fresh and well made. Desserts are on par and yummy. Service is great and treated like family. I highly recommend.

Dinner last nite: grilled baby octopus, risotto with wild mushrooms and truffle oil, and pasta with Sunday ragu. Exquisite.  Service was impeccable and gracious.

Really good Italian in a town full of Italian restaurants.
Although well appointed, skip the menu and go for one of the numerous specials.
I've never had a bad one.

Amazing first visit at Brioso. We heard mixed reviews about Brioso but wanted to give them a try for ourselves. When we got there the receptionist was not to be found but after a few minutes we were helped. That threw us off a little and we were nervous but once we sat down everything was just awesome. Our waitress was a doll, so helpful and friendly. She was fast and very efficient. The bean mix that came with the bread was amazing, so tasty. Our food was authentic good old italian food. Cooked perfect and the seasonings were great. Try the cannoli they are SOO worth it! Overall we had a great wait staff, food and desert experience. We cannot wait to go back!! Make sure to bring wine or champagne they are BYOB!

I have been dining at this restaurant for many years and the food is consistently very good. Equally important to the food in any restaurant is the service and attitude of the staff.  At Briosos the service and attitude of the staff has become so poor that I and a group of my friends will never eat here again.
Briosos has been going down in service for the past few years but recently I have experienced not only poor service but RUDE service.   The front door person and wait staff seem so lazy and burned out. They stood in the back (non working) bar area chatting among themselves most of the night and forgetting about their customers. It is very frustrating not being able to get a waiter for long periods of time. When you finally flag a waiter and ask him a question, an answer back is sarcastic.
I want to say that the only mannered staff were the boys serving water.

We have be to Brioso about 30 times. The food is consistently good. The portions are appropriately sized. The meats and seafoods are cooked correctly. Menu is traditional italian but the specials are more contemporary. It can be overcrowded and too noisy on weekends. I like the waiters, some do have accents. The decor is a bland, bistro setup. It is more expensive than most Italian restaurants but is also better than most. This is in my top ten restaurants in the monmouth middlesex area.

This place is overpriced and not worth it . The food is lazy, trying to be complex but failing to archive anything more than mediocre street vendor food.

So my girlfriend and I walk in and it takes about five minutes to be noticed and seated. The staff is running around and nobody really focuses on the front door. We are given a table that the waiter is trying to adjust because it's out of balance. To make it easy I suggest a different table and we sit. He walks away but no menus. I see that he left them on another table near our old table and retrieve them. We look them over and a different waiter comes to the table but has no idea what I'm trying to order. That's because they were lunch menus given during dinner service and the items are not on it. While reordering we were given cold bread which we were hoping was warm to in some way redeem themselves. We both looked at each other as if we should cut our losses and leave but we stuck it out. We eventually place the order and my girlfriend asks for no onions in her entree salad. Of course it comes with onions because it appears the entire staff with the exception of two waiters is Mexican and have limited English abilities. Upon replacement, the salad comes with half the shrimp the original did and is a smaller salad portion. No offer of cheese or pepper for the entrees and before I could ask, the waiter was gone again. During the entire meal the food runners are karate kicking the kitchen door that was right next to the table flinging it open to exit with arms loaded with plates. I never saw any management because I can't see how anyone would let this go on but the kitchen door seems to be the least of their problems. Portions as stated in other reviews as smaller than expected. I will say, beware ordering off the specials menu because the sticker shock might be a little upsetting for what you get. The food itself was fine, Her salad was entirely balsamic with so little oil that I couldn't eat it but she did. Water was refilled once the entire night and we were never offered drinks, so bring wine.

    Service - below average
    Decor - pleasant
Food - acceptable but nothing memorable

A growing trend for owners is to build up a place with a chef and attentive staff and then trade them out for cheap labor. That's what I think has happened here because I never saw any management or anyone even remotely Italian except our waiter who somehow lost his accent halfway through reading the way too long specials menu. So when your staff is just going through the motions with no real care of the product or business, you earn reviews like this.

Good meal fair prices , this place was jumping on a Monday night.Food was fresh and pasta was al dente.Fried zucchini was off the hook, Julienne style not fat greasy "fingers" baked clams were great.Probably a little short staffed as service was tad slow but it was a Monday night we will be back!

The only reason I give it two stars is because the portions are TOO small.  No value for the money portion wise.

The food is excellent!  The wait staff is excellent, the service is excellent, the atmosphere is fantastic.

The menu is varied and if you don't see what you want the chef will make it for you.  They make old school Italian delicacies.  I had the tripe as an appetizer and the Svengali for a main course.  The portions were disappointingly small and it impressed me as an Italian place trying to be French.  I don't go to French restaurants because you leave hungry.

I would have loved to give this place a 5 but I can't and I will not go back because I like to get value for my dollar.

We had heard some great reviews from friends about Brioso. Went to dinner on a Saturday evening with friends. Server was not friendly . . . seemed as though he was doing us a favor. Salad was fresh and cold. Soup was watery and not full bodied. Main courses were variable, veal average. Fish special was great. Pasta seafood special was too garlic, watery and under done. Pasta off the menu was good.

And they gave me regular coffee when I ordered decaf! Overall average at best.

Absolute favorite Italian restaurant in Monmouth County. Great food and service. Great atmosphere where tables are always packed and don't feel like you're the only ones in restaurant after 9pm.  Prices are reasonable for quality of food. Plus byob.

Great Italian food; always consistent.  Not sure why someone is criticizing the menu in one of the reviews. Brioso's has specials throughout the year that add variety, but if you have a high quality consistent menu, why mess with it. Do these people complain when they go to a steakhouse and keep seeing steaks on the menu?

I've come to Brioso twice, once for a family's first communion party and the second was a regular dining experience with my fiance. Both times the food and service was excellent, this is by far a superior Italian restaurant that unfortunately can easily be missed by it's less than ideal location on Route 9 north. The plaza it is in doesn't actually face the road, so you pretty much need to know where it is by GPS or word-of-mouth.

As we all know New Jersey has too many Italian restaurants, they're dime a dozen...but Brioso is authentic Italian, and a rare gem. The owner/manager is fluent in Italian and while I don't know if he was actually born there, he certainly makes his presence known by frequently carrying conversations with patrons. It's obvious he is well-liked and really likes to make a bond with his frequent customers which is always something I like and appreciate. That's the difference between someone who is in it for the money, and someone who runs a restaurant family-style.

When you first sit down you'll immediately be greeted with plenty of fresh bread and "pizza bread" which is beyond good. Aside from their very broad menu selection, you'll also hear usually about 3 specials that they feature for the night. I had the rigitoni alla russo for my entree which is more or less rigitoni pasta in a vodka sauce with prosciutto. Vodka sauce can vary greatly from restaurant to restaurant, whether its flavor or thickness, but I really loved this dish and the sauce.

You'll also receive "complimentary" roasted potatoes and broccoli rabe when your entrees arrive which are delicious.

Service is really exceptional here. All of the waiters, servers, and bus boys hustle all night long. My glass was never empty unless I told them to stop pouring drinks, and they make sure you are satisfied with your meal. No "disappearing waiters" here and this was when the restaurant was nearly full on a Saturday night.

I see a couple comments about the ambiance of the restaurant - no, it's  nothing special but it really doesn't have to be. It certainly is still nice and it beats the tacky overtones I see at so many Italian restaurants. Bottom line the food and service are great so that is what I care much more about.

We always liked Brioso, yet I never wrote a review. It became a convenient location 2 weekends in a row to meet with family and then friends. The restaurant does get loud and crowded on weekends, a sign of good food. Service is on par and attentive, however it can be spotty when the restaurant is filled to capacity. On our first weekend visit we were a party of 8 and everything we had was delicious. They have a zillion specials which the waiter recites with great speed as you try to retain at least one. The specials are excellent and usually make the regular menu a runner up. Appetizers run the gamut from beef carpaccio, uber fresh burrata, creamy/crispy polenta with mixed mushrooms to crab cakes. Everyone liked their entrees as there where no complaints and many raves. My branzino special was fresh and simply prepared, as it should be.  My husband's gnocchi bolognese were perfect. Our second weekend proved to be just as fulfilling. There were different specials from the previous Saturday such as grilled octopus and tripe in a plum tomato sauce which our friends seemed to love. Another hit was the stuffed zucchini flowers. Desserts were equally satisfying- the ricotta cheesecake, cannoli sponge cake, and pear tart were stand outs. Brioso is solid Italian cuisine.

Just another amazing experience at an Italian restaurant here in Central Jersey!

We decided to come here in a big group to celebrate my recent engagement to my fiance. The restaurant is a little hard to find, it's in a little "strip mall" on the northbound side of Route 9 (literally right past 'Nonna's Restaurant'). Walking up to it, the place didn't look all that special...but once you enter, it is a whole different story! The decor in this place is really elegant and well done, and it's actually a lot bigger than you would expect from the outside.

Brioso has a very authentic Italian feel to it, and this is only further punctuated by the people in the restaurant and the employees. Upon seating, they provide a basket of different breads, along with this lentil mixed with vegetables type of pre-appetizer (something I've never seen before at an Italian restaurant, but really quite good).

For appetizer, we ordered the house salad, which was very good, and the fried zucchini. The zucchini was ok, it seemed very similar to an order of fried calamari. For dinner, my brother and I split the small order of pasta with bolognese sauce, and I also got the Pollo Boscaiolo, and I must say both dishes were excellent! Also, I can vouch for the Filet Mignon being equally excellent since my brother ordered it...it literally melted in my mouth.

Finally, for dessert, we got an order of the tiramisu and the carrot cake to share between all of us. While the tiramisu was pretty good, the carrot cake really stole the show! All in all, one of the best Italian Restaurants in all of Jersey!

Passable Italian dishes, but simply not worth it thanks to superior competition and an ambience lacking in sophistication. Brioso in Marlboro caters to the many that have moved to Marlboro from Staten Island, being that its original location is on the Island, but the Marlboro location fails to effectively re-create the environs of its original location. In addition, it also falls subject to the same "boring" menu as the Staten Island location in the sense that it does not even feature a single baked clams dish.

The desserts here are good, but everything else is passable.

This is the best Italian restaurant in New Jersey. I drive all the way from staten island to Marlboro for this restaurant. I have ordered everything, and let me tell you, its all outrageous!! From apps to desert it just doesn't get better. Charlie does most of the cooking and he is the best. The food is  so fresh and so beyond good, words just can't describe. Its BYOB but it is so worth it. I have brought all my family and friends to this place and not one person ever had anything negative to say. It is the one place everyone agrees on. The prices are so reasonable. Even if they were to raise their prices, it would be well worth it. The music playing makes you feel like you are in Italy instead of NJ. But don't take my work for it, this is a Zagot rated restaurant. Need I say more??

Brioso is our family favorite. The go to spot for anything from Friday night dinner, to celebrations with all family and friends. We even bring in their chicken parm, which is the BEST chicken parm. you will EVER try.  Great food, great staff, who become like family. Recently we had a death in the family, and these great people not only called with their condolences, but insisted on sending over food for one of the Shiva nights. We love them, and will continue to patronize them. - the blueberry tart is the best, also the napoleon and tartufo.  ENJOY!
