I visited this place yesterday with my husband. I have heard about the Bristol Tap before, but despite living in Oswego for my whole life, I have never ventured over to try it before. I have to say it was a okay experience.
It is a little hard to see unless you know where you are going because it's back further from the road, and only has a very small sign. The door has a hand written sign that says no babies or small children. Which is okay because it's a bar, you don't really expect babies here anyway right? It's kind of dark inside. They have very dark curtains up. It wouldn't hurt to turn a light on. When we walked out it took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust to the noon sun.
We ordered 2 burgers and 2 cokes. The burger is HUGE. it comes with pickles, tomato, lettuce, and onion on the side. All toppings are fresh and crisp. The chips were good. Overall, it was fine. Not mind-blowing as I have been lead to believe, but certainly not bad. The price is perfect though. I would go back.

WOW!!!! That's about all I can say! I've tryed this place a couple times,[to be fair as maybe someone's having an "off" day once,] but after last week I will NEVER return!!There are various reasons, but the most obvious one is poor customer service! I actually can't even say it was poor cuz they never really did anything!Oh I'm sorry, they do! The bartenders do shot after shot behind the bar!! This may be ok if you're caught up, but when there's obviously empty beer cans and glasses out on the rail I would presume that's your no.1 priority!!! They seemed very oblivious to them...or more like didn't give a rats butt! The lady's were not friendly and never smiled...they seemed to chat with "regulars" ironically all of whom were men, and seem annoyed if a women sat at "their bar!" I was shocked at their rudeness and oblivious behaviors!!! If I was that angry with my job and needed to drink every 5 minutes to get thru an easy shift, I'd definitely not consider it, but get another job...with a different line of work!!!! The strange part is the owners sitting right there! These girls make decent $ for what they do, as they don't leave the bar, except to smoke. Therefore I would think they could try to smile and not "snap" at all the customers...shocked they have any customers....well, I guess "cheap food and drinks" does it all! These bartenders wouldn't last a day in a different bar that actually thrives on customer service and  wants to add to its customer base, not run them off!!!!!

Alright, burger fans in the Fox Valley. YOU MUST GO HERE!

They are big, juicy, cheesy, yumminess. Everyone hoovers them down so fast, it's hard to savor, its that good. Served with chips and a pickle.

The rest of the bar is a dive. Though I do love the table made form the old Yorkville high-school gym floor. And the all year CUBS Christmas tree. And the weird banjo thing on the wall.

NO credit cards, ATM in the restaurant.

Had my first legal drink there at a bar. Will keep returning for my burger and beer fix.

I was introduced to this place by my biker boyfriend. We were out on the motorcycle one day over the summer enjoying the sun, breeze and wind in our faces. This naturally causes you to develop quite an appetite and thirst. We pulled in here for a break...

Part of the reason for this stop was for their burgers. As I have stated in some of my other reviews, I am a burger fanatic. My boyfriend knew this and had planned to take me here. There is something to be said for the bars that have a cooktop behind the bar where you can see them cooking the burgers, onions, toasting the buns.... my mouth is beginning to water :-)

The aromas fill the place and obviously, cleanliness and standards are open for everyone to see. Not hiding back in a kitchen.

Although this place is sort of a "biker bar," they welcome all walks of life. There is a funny sign on the door that says small children and babies are not welcome. It made me chuckle and warrented a picture from my phone.

My brother and sister-in-law just bought a house not far away. I can't wait to take them- plus it gives me an excuse to drive out for juicy deliciousness!

Great burgers, nice and juicy.  I saw one reviewer said they were over cooked and dry, not the norm here, you should have said something.   The brat burgers and steak sandwiches are very good as well.  I've been going there for years.  Not a biker bar as one lady implied, they are just some of the many who frequent here.

First time recently. My kind of place. Learn the rules. A great big burger.
Medium rare. Served with a thick slice of raw onion (only way to eat a burger). Try the root beer. I don't live close but I'll be back.

I have been going to this plays for years, before the new building and always had a great burger, but haven't been back for over a year.

I had been telling a friend about the great burgers, so we went there yesterday. WOW....what an absolute disappointment. The bar maid who took our order was very rude. When we asked her what kind of cheese for the burger, she replied "yellow or white." We asked again what flavor the cheese was, and again she replied "yellow or white and that's it."

We ordered both cheeseburgers with WHITE cheese and medium rare. As we watched this. As we observed "Joe" grill the burgers with his bare large belly hang over his pants we became doubtful of what we were going to be served.

When Joe flopped the basket with the burgers in front of us we were hungry and looking forward to this large burger which I had always enjoyed in the past.

WRONG!!!! one burger was medium rare and one well done. When we told Joe this his reply was "what do you want me to do, make another, take it back or call the girl that took the order wrong." He was so rude and totally disrespectful, not only to us but also his employees. Both burgers were very dry and tasteless.

Think twice before you choose the Bristol Tap!!

Pretty straight forward place...you go to the bar to order their amazing burgers and cheap beer.  It's local and comfy and everyone knows everyone.  It's a great place to hang out and watch games and munch on the provided popcorn.  Also, they have a fantastic turkey raffle the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  Get their and I mean early 6 a.m. ish if you want to find a parking spot.  They provide breakfast and lunch you buy raffle tickets for $ and meat which helps fund a local team in the area.  A great time and your drunk by noon!!!

Great burgers, cheap beer, fun people. What more can you ask for?

I was nervous going into a local pub after my experience at some others but the people were warm and friendly. The burgers were top notch and huge and I love the grilled cheese during Lent.

This is a great place - especially if you want to watch a Cubs game or even a Bears game.

Finally, I guess I don't understand why people can't read the "order here" sign at the middle of the bar. Don't complain when there is signage telling you not to sit and wait for 20 minutes when there are no waiters or waitresses in sight. It took me about 2 minutes to figure this out because I can read. :)

The burger didn't even come close to living up to the hype.  Ordered 2 burgers and they showed up over cooked and dry.  Can't understand peoples attraction to this place.  Wanted to like it, but won't be back.

I've been looking forward to going to this place for a while, finally went and was disappointed. The Burger (which is basically the only thing on the menu) was HUGE, and juicy, but it tasted like nothing.  Very bland.  The staff wasn't very helpful.  We had no idea there was not a wait staff. You have to order everything at the bar.  Someone finally told us that after about 20 minutes.

I won't go back there again.  And it's 2 minutes from my house.

I've only been here once for lunch and  as stated in another review, get the burger.  So. I got the burger.  Smart move.  It was not crowded and ample TVs to watch the ball game but my favorite was the Christmas tree and free popcorn while waiting for our order.

I have to admit that I like the fact that they are not kid friendly as the warning sign states on the door.

I can see why this place gets busy, and everyone seemed friendly enough and the burger is worth the wait.

Go with someone who knows where it is the first time you go.

Best hamburger on the planet. It tastes like the first truly great hamburger you ever had in your life. This is not a place for small children or babies and it's definitely a bar. But if you like great food, a good jukebox in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, this is your bar. Bikers in the summer, snowmobiles in the winter.

This place was suggested to my husband by just about everyone at the CAT plant in Montgomery.

Attention: this is a bar first and foremost. It is not a place to bring small childen or babies here as says the handwritten sign on the front door.

We stopped in yesterday (Sunday) at about 2pm. The parking lot was full of beautiful cycles and the establishment itself was also a bit crowded with the riders. Lucky for us we were able to get a table and order the burgers, of course. Bacon/cheese to be exact :)

Note~ Grab a table and then send one person to place order at the bar.

The wait was about 30 minutes but we expected that due to the other reviews. There was free popcorn to munch on, two tv's, along with a row of video poker type machines. Lots of Budweiser mirrors and an empty aluminum can impaled on the end of each curtain rod. Interesting decor. It would have been entertaining to have been there on the "can night". They also have an ATM in the far corner if you notice you are short on cash.

The burger was very good. It was not a restaurant burger. It was more like a burger you get at the neighborhood bbq where "that one guy" makes those really awesome burgers. They were thick and cooked perfectly. Chips were fresh, and the veggies (tomato, lettuce, onion, and pickle) were all crunchy-yummy. Served in a basket. Simple, good stuff :)

The wait staff, where not overall friendly, were polite and very busy between taking care of customers and cleaning tables. The bathrooms were very clean as well.

    We will be back.

Best.  Burgers.  Anywhere. Ever.  I am not kidding or exaggerating in the slightest.  I don't care where you go for your burgers; they are not as good as Bristol Burgers.

Yes, Bristol is basically in the middle of a cornfield and thus difficult to find.  Yes, Bristol Tap is Cash Only and thus not exactly with the times.   However, you couldn't ask for better sandwiches, colder beer, or free-er popcorn.

Food: Three words: Get the burger.  The chili is definitely a great side dish, but you may not need it.  Get the burger.  The steak sandwich is a close second, but if you've never been there GET THE BURGER.  Side note - it's grill only; nothing deep fried, but it doesn't matter.  Get the burger.  It's all you need.

Atmosphere: This is the definition of a back woods hole in the wall - and I love it.  It's always full of locals, but not so much so that you can't find a seat.  I grew up in the area and always feel at home when I stop in for a beer and a burger.  I feel this place is best on early Sunday afternoon.  It's driven by the sports seasons, so if there's a big game, get there early.

Parking: Large lot - free, but in this area, that goes without saying.

Price:  If you're used to dining in Chicago or the surrounding suburbs, you're going to love this place.  It is in no way expensive, and the beer is cold and the food is fan-freakin'-tastic.  It is worth the trip.

Service: It's always the same - pleasant and attentive with plenty of small town gossip to go around.  It's easy to strike up a conversation with the workers or the local crowd, especially if you grab a seat at the bar.

    Get the burger.

I have enjoyed Britol's burgers since I was like 10.  I used to live near Bristol and my parents would get loaded while we ate burgers, and then they would do some drunk driving...... with us in the car!  FUN!  Anyways this place used to be in another location in Bristol, but they built a new one no to far from the old one(but the new one doesn't have the condom machine in the bathroom).  Anyways beer is dirt cheap( it's kendall county) and the burgers are top notch.
