Not a yuppy bar I will say; however, it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, especially after reading previous reviews. Okay, so one major downfall is that they serve drinks in plastic cups & not glasses, which takes away a fine feature of enjoying a tasty cocktail! I understand they may do this due to fights occurring and glass breaking, but that puts this place down from a lounge to a bar. There is no dress code and this appears to be a local  Latino hang out spot. I must mention there weren't any apparent gang members, rather working class regular people enjoying their selves at the local neighborhood spot. The music was good if your into old school Latin freestyle, and hip hop. The owners actually appeared attentive and walking around cleaning tables and over looking the joint. Not my usual cup of tea as I am more on the yuppy side, but then again I fit in any where I go & I enjoy the company of other cultures aside from my own.
Review Source:I don't have much of a problem with the club or the liquor store attached, but rather the owners themselves. Â
They are rude, uneducated, unprofessional, and arrogant. Â They think they're Europe's gift to Cicero or something because not only do they not speak to you when you ask them questions, they ignore you, pay more attention to what's on the TV, which is all in Albanian, and they smell like B.O.
The one encounter in the store I had was when I bought a bottle, walked up to the counter and Mr. Albania was standing there. Â I was very friendly with him and said hey. Â Under his breath he said "sup" and didn't even bother to look at me. Â He bagged up my booze, rang it up, and reached over for my ID quicker than I can even get it out of my wallet. Â He looked at it, smacked it against the counter and slid it over to me. Â Then he reached for my debit card, which I hadn't even handed it to him yet, and he seemed annoyed that I was slow. Â When I took my ID back and gave him my debit, he gave me the receipt and tossed a pen over to me. Â Annoyed myself, I signed it, threw the pen back at him and said thank you. Â He ignored me and helped the next customer.
I know Cicero has a reputation for ignorant people but don't assume everyone that lives here is as ignorant as you and everyone else. Â You don't have to have this front just because you own a liquor store and gang-infested club.
Speaking of which, I've been to the club side a handful of times for parties that I was invited to and it was ok. Â They had this Euro chick handling the bar and she was great. Â She charged me $4 for mixed drinks and I would give her generous tips for it. Â Five mixed drinks later, Mr. Albania is at the bar. Â I walked over and asked for the same drink--$7. Â I told him no, I wanted what the gal was serving me. Â And he said in this horrible accent "Sorry, lady confused about very much drinks, she's downstairs now. Â Tequila is $7 here." He served me my drink and I just left it there. Â When I went downstairs, the girl was no where to be found. Â Mr. Albania's brother was attending the other bar, probably charging everyone $5 for a Corona and $7 for mixed drinks, too. Â I left about 30 minutes later.
You don't make business by over charging people. Â If I wanted to pay $7 for a drink, I'd go to a Cubs game.
