Went to this location over the weekend.  Compared to the one on R street, this one seems so much larger inside.  Burger was cooked perfectly.  Onion rings are great.

Love that they have different types of flavored water to choose from.

I love this restaurant. The service is really good, and the food is amazing. The Diablo Fries are sooooo good (very spicy). My husband and I split the burger with a salad instead of fries (they have a really good house balsamic), and we order the Diablo Fries on the side. My son always gets the kid's chicken tenders, which are probably the best chicken tenders you can get in town. Definitely eat here if you're in downtown Chico. Plus, they are priced well.

I've been here many times; it's one of the few places my parents visit since they can get "paleo-friendly" food. I would never visit on my own because the food just isn't...very good. They use high quality beef, but even when I order a medium-rare burger, the patty has been consistently dry and grey-brown all the way through. And I'm too scared to order my burger rare.

When I do tire of dry, uninspired burgers, there isn't much to choose from.  Their sandwiches never seem appetizing and I don't care for their salads. Their Fuji apple salad could be great, who doesn't like the apple/blue cheese/vinaigrette combo but...it's just not great.

I will say that the service is surprisingly attentive, and they have a great beer selection. Chico has lots of great burgers, my favorites being Nobby's, burger hut, in n' out, and the almighty bar burger from 5th street steakhouse.  But not from here.

My boyfriend and I refer to Burgers and Brew as the place we go when we want cruddy service and lackluster, might-be-done-right food.

Take the last time we went there, on Memorial Day:

This is the second time we've been there where they expected it to be slow so they didn't have any servers. Joke's on them, it was actually pretty busy. We ordered at the bar, food and sodas. No one bothered to get us our sodas until we asked one of the very busy busboys who seemed to also be filling to role of server because management didn't think it necessary to have any in that day.

The food comes out (taking longer than you'd expect for two burgers) - mine was done right (which doens't usually happen - usually "well done" means "still fairly pink" to them) but my boyfriend's turkey burger was dried out. He used to cook professionally so this sort of thing really bugs him - there's a right way and a wrong way to cook a turkey burger and apparently they don't know the right way.

For the price you pay, this place really isn't worth it.

Burgers and brews. Loved it. Went for my daughters grad party on may 26th Ryan and John took very good care of us. While staff is very well trained. The only negative is I left my camera behind and I have all my only daughters grad pictures on the camera. I am appealing to whoever has the camera to please turn it in to burgers and brew.  I know everyone has a mother. Just imagine how she would feel if someone had pictures from her only daughters graduation. Please!!!!!

Favorite menu item is the jalapeno bacon cheeseburger, so good! Add on a side of onion rings or their amazing garlic fries and you're set.

The wait staff have always been pleasant and very attentive, which helps make up for what can sometimes be a drawn out wait for the food to arrive. While waiting for your food you definitely have plenty of time to peruse the beer selection which is pretty extensive. Overall, a great place to go with friends on the weekend!

One thing to keep in mind is that you can only use 2 separate credit cards to pay the bill, so if you're going with a group this is a good thing to remember.

Really nice looking restaurant.  Good selection of burgers.  Great selection of beers.  I decided on the spicy bacon burger and the guiness shake.  I found it a little awkward that such a fancy looking place had you order at the register.  They should have a couple of waiters/servers taking orders at the tables.  However, burger was good.  4/5 stars for the burger and the onion rings.  I especially liked the bun.  The medium cooked paddy was okay,  unseasoned, but cooked nicely.   I tasted my friends' sweet potato fries and garlic fries.  Both were good as well.  The guiness shake was awesome.  I think between the ice cream in the shake, the mayo and the cheese in the burger and the onion rings, I felt like I consumed too much fat.

I'll go back again.  I really liked that they had such a good selection of beers.

Ok I must say that these burgers are some of the best I have ever had.
My favorite is the breakfast burger. Service is good and the beer selection is extensive.
I like the salad . This place is worth visiting

I came in for what I thought would be a relatively inexpensive dinner with the husband last night.  We shared an order of sweet potato fries and ordered two banana bread beers, a veg burger, and a buffalo burger. While I agree that the burgers are good and that they offer a great selection of beer, I don't think it's worth the $45 (before tip) that we spent.

Also, I was a little irritated with our server who forgot to put in our order of fries (which we said we wanted to start with) and then blatantly lied to me. When I asked about them after receiving our meals, she stated that they would be up in a few minutes and then I watched her walk right over to the computer to put the order in and  ask the kitchen to make them quickly. I'm not dense and I am very forgiving/understanding of mistakes if you own up to them.

I'd probably go back to share a burger or possibly just come in for the sweet potato fries and a couple of beers at the bar, but other than that it's a little pricey for a vamped up burger joint.

My favorite restaurant in Chico!  Every time I come down to visit my boyfriend we always go here.  Great food at a great price.  Their garlic curly fries are the best I ever had so definitely pay the 75 cents for the upgrade.  If you are watching the waistline, the side salad is also delicious too (mixed greens with vinaigrette)!  The burgers are not dry and the buns are so soft.  I also love the chocolate and strawberry shakes (I always ask for extra thick).  In a nutshell, the food is consistently awesome and I will be back.  Hopefully soon because I am craving their chorizo burger.. to die for.

Never been ANYTHING BUT THRILLED with this place!

Their food is WAY over par for a burger joint- 3 or 4 kinds of fries, 3 or 4 kinds of iced water, leafy greens instead of iceburg salads...AH-mazing.

And the beer/wine lists are downright impressive! I used to work in the beer/wine market and am usually disappointed with the "house" wine selections at restaurants. They not only had some seriously good stuff, but some things that were usually hard to come by!!

And I've got a thing for their covered patio seating. :o)
    LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

I really try to avoid this place and thier terrible service. I have been a handful of times, and the service has never once been good. I always feel like everything I order is making it hard for the waitress/waiter. There is no friendly interaction, no explanation of foods or beverages, and no suggestions. And almost every time we have gone for late happy hour, they never give us the discount.
I had an experience where we waited for 25 minutes to see our waitress for the 1st time, even though there was nobody in the place. And while I don't mind my meat a little rare, I have also been served a bloody burger, which when sent back was returned as a black piece of crap.
If you have a ton of time to kill and don't mind being overcharged, hit this place up. Just make sure you check your bill before you pay it.

Best burgers in town. The sweet potato fries are the best we've ever had. They're cut thin and aren't soggy when delivered. Lots of beers to choose from and each of the six or seven times we've been there we've had wait staff school us on the different brews. Always had good service and the prices are good. Only down side is the trek to the bathroom is downstairs, and after having a woman get attacked down there a couple of years ago I accompany my wife when she has to go. Not sure if their cameras work or not, plus it's a long way from the restaurant. Better safe than sorry.

Good beer selection. Probably the worst fish and chips I've had in Chico. The burgers are good but I've had better. I wish they would switch from Tilapia to a better fish quality, like cod.  Definitely room for improvement here.

The cons: Slow & absentee service followed by the fact that they have like 50 beers available and I've been there over a dozen times and not once has anyone ever made a suggestion or offered any advice on what to drink. This place could be a gold mine if they brought in staff that cared.

The pros: The best hamburger in Chico hands down. Every time I go it's just as great as the last. The food buyer and cooks are the only reason I come back. The ingredients are all great and the result is a great burger. In a close second are their onion rings which you should order along with all of the sauces they offer. I can't choose a favorite because they are all so good.

If you have 45 minutes to wait for a burger and don't mind having to get up and order your own silverware and order a second round (because the staff is MIA) then be sure to give Burgers & Brew a try.

Well, I'm a vegetarian and non consumer of beer, but still found their food and atmosphere well above par!

I had the garden burger and my wife had the smoked tofu burger, both of which were incredible. They also have a Portobello burger an another vegetarian option. I had a side of Garlic Curly Fries and my wife had Sweet Potato Fries, again awesome.

They were pretty slow in taking our order, it happens, but they were awesome made up for it with free drinks and dessert.

A cool feature here which we didn't partake in, was they have a French Fries Happy Hour with an extensive list of Fry options, some sounding very exotic.

So while I can't make a positive comment on the meat selections I can give a two thumbs up on the vegetarian options and would for sure come back!

Although we went on a ridiculously busy night, the service was prompt and the food was outstanding.  Great avocado cheese burger.  My wife had the turkey avocado melt.  We both opted for the side salad instead of fries, but the neighboring table's fries looked incredible!  Coupled with pear cider, this was a great meal.  This was our first visit.  We'll be returning soon!  Can't believe we've lived here five years and haven't tried it.

So good! I love coming here!
Every time I've been here it's met my expectations and more.
Beer night was the best, Sierra Nevada representative was present the night we went and stopped by our table to chat about the specialty beers we got. After that the representative gave us Sierra Nevada t-shirts and glasses.

    The food was sooo delicious!
I love their bacon cheeseburgers and curly seasoned fries!
The taste is exactly what I would want in a burger haha.
First time I ate here was in Davis, CA and always hoped one would open up here.
I'm very excited it has and I will be a returning customer!
My family is also a huge fan and they have the best service!
Staff is friendly and helpful! 5 stars!

I absolutely love this place! I rarely ever eat beef burgers but when I do I eat them here! I recently got the spicy guacamole burger and added jalepenos and everything about it was great! On top of that all their buns are one of the best parts! The first time I went here I got a veggie burger (I usually eat vegetarian) and I recognized the patty as being from a grocery store, which wasn't bad, just nothing new, and I had a bite of my friends hamburger and knew I had to come back and try the real deal.  They have lots of options too which I'm really looking forward to trying.  The garlic curly fries are so good! They also have a lot of great beers, love that Arrogant Bastard is on tap!  This place blows all competition out of the water!  Can't wait to come back again!

Stopped in around 5 for a few beers - were not even greeted - had to ask for a drinks menu and then had to flag down someone to take our orders - and we were sitting at the BAR itself! Weird vibe - the place was empty - too much to ask these people to do their jobs. Buut the beer was good, so 2 for you.

For gods sake just split the check! They said they wouldn't, and that they couldn't take more than two cards per table. This is a huge hassle! Management you are robbing your servers of tips because this is a pain in the ass! The food is great but it took us an extra 15 minutes to pay and leave! Just be a normal place, make it easy to pay without hassle and your customers will appreciate it with tips and return trips!

I'm not a huge burger fan so when we chose this place for lunch I was a little apprehensive if I'd like it or not.  I was pleasantly surprised.  Service was friendly and helpful.  My husband ordered the basic cheese burger w/sweet potato fries and a beer.  My daughter and I split the BBQ bacon burger w/regular thick fries and we both just had waters. I really enjoyed the self-serve water flavored with orange, lemon or lime.  Really refreshing in the hot Chico temps.

Burgers were REALLY good.  Cooked a perfect medium and super juicy. Hubby's sweet potato fries were sooooooo good! Glad I split the burger with my daughter though because it was more than enough.

Our only frown was that there were no TV's to watch the ball games on.  It there were, we probably would have hung out longer.  But if I'm craving a burger the next time we're in town, this is where I'll head to.

    I would not go back.

THis was my second time here, and the food was bad both times.  Today I was pleasantly created, and my order taken.  The employee was friendly, helpful, and a good attitude.  He was helpful with menu questions, and I settled on a bacon avocado cheese burger, cooked medium rare with sweet potato fries.

Drinks were promptly served, and refills were on the spot.  When the burger arrived, it was over cooked and missing the bacon.  I sent it back, and got the same burger, just with bacon.  The burger patty looked very industrial in that it had no character.  It looked like it came from a press done commercially.  There was no flavor to the meat (presumably from being under seasoned and overcooked).  The bacon was average, and nothing to write home about.  The saving grace where the sweet potato fries.  They were a crinkle fry and tasted great.

I would not go back, and I will not recommend this place.

Great location downtown.  Inviting atmosphere and friendly and attentive wait staff.  Lots of beers on tap and in the bottle (as the name of the restaurant implies).  Only gets a 3-star rating due the quality and presentation of the food.  Ordered a regular burger with onion rings.  While burger patty was tasty, the burger had very limited condiments... only came with a small piece of lettuce, one tomato slice and a incredibly small onion slice.  At first i thought there was nothing on the burger because the bun and patty dwarfed everything else.  The bun smelled like it just came out of a plastic bag.  Not what I expect when paying $7 for a burger.

If you want a great hamburger in Chico Nobby's or Banshee are hands down the best.

The food was mediocre at best but that was not the issue. There were 3 of us and when we initially ordered we asked for separate checks, our waiter (super friendly and easy on the eyes =P)  said that they usually don't do that but he would make an exception. Fast forward to when we were done eating and our waiter was nowhere to be found. After awhile another waitress came over and told us our waiter was officially off the clock and gave us our check. We informed her that we were told that we could split the check 3 ways. She said they usually don't split the check more than 2 ways but she would see what they could do.

About 5 minutes later another man (who I assume is a manager of some sort based on the way he was dressed and his attitude) stormed over to our table slammed down three separate checks and said "just so you know for next time we don't split checks 3 ways, our system isn't set up for that. Your waiter told you we could because it is his last day here and he doesn't care" before rushing off without giving us a chance to respond.

    1) There were no need for the hostility, if they couldn't or didn't want to split the check they could have just told us. We are adults and would have happily accommodated.

    2) That is no way to run a business. I understand that it was frustrating possibly even time consuming have to cancel the one check and generate 3 new ones, but there was no need for him to be so rude and throw his employee under the bus. It made him look bad and more importantly, it reflected negatively on the restaurant.

Over all I understand that everyone has a off day. If the food was any better I would give Burgers & Brew another shot but unfortunately that's not going to happen.

Worst service I've ever experienced in Chico.  That is saying a LOT!

The food was tasty and reasonably priced and they had a great beer selection.  It has the makings to be an excellent establishment but falls short solely because of their terrible, terrible service.  Went here last wednesday night before buck night and the bartender and indoor server did not serve us until one of our party members became so infuriated and walked out.  As we waited for our food, our water cups sat empty and the bartender and server proceeded to talk badly about their fellow coworkers and recent customers!  It was so sad we couldn't help but laugh after we left.  Needless to say, will not return.

I am really sad with how I was treated here tonight.  I came here a lot, and never had such a horrible experience as I had.

I was in a huge party, with which we all put in with cash and two of us with separate cards.  One of my friends payed separately with cash, and gave the waiter a four dollar tip (which he didn't deserve, and I will explain why later in this).  After she left, we all received our bills,by  which the way it was split was confusing and didn't make any sense.  We obeyed the rules of only using two cards per party, and yet I was the only one in this party that got overcharged in the end.  We at first only received one bill, so I left a note stating that my card would only pay for my portion only, which was $4.50 for one beer.  When receiving our receipts back, I instead received a bill for $9.38.

After crunching our own numbers later, it turned out that I covered the tax on the whole party, which doubled the amount I expected to pay (I ordered one beer at $4.50 and got charged $9.38).  After flagging down our waiter and politely explaining that the bill didn't make sense, he responds with," I'm not getting any of this, and I haven't even received a tip yet", he walks away from us, leaving us with my overcharged bill.  So I left him a tip alright, I wrote a note saying that he was an a**hole that doesn't deserve a tip.

Now though he really deserved that note, I should of left it with him AFTER speaking to the supposed "manager".  I explained that I left a note stating that I was only paying my portion of the bill, and he interrupts me by saying, "Yeah I saw that note where you called my waiter an a**hole", and I told him that was after he ignored my first note on what I should of been billed on.

He then goes on to tell me, " Its your word against mine, and you can f*** off and leave this restaurant".  I sure told him to f*** off as well and left, shocked over how he treated me.

Seriously, I'm a nice girl, and like I said, I am really sad with how I was unfairly charged and treated like I didn't matter to them.  I have never in my life been told to f*** off in a restaurant.

Came here for the first time with some friends about a month and a half ago. I ordered a salad (can't recall which one) but got the cesar salad instead. I MUST have tomatoes with my salad, so I asked the waiter if he could replace my order. He took my entire salad into the back, which made me very nervous (I was very friendly about it)...the salad came back out with all the fixings and veggies I had expected (minus the mushrooms). Again, I hope they are mature enough to not mess with your food when you have it sent back.
I came back a few weeks ago with a friend of mine for lunch and ordered the sauteed mushroom burger. The burger, mushrooms, and cheese all tasted the same. There was no flavor to it. I wasn't too happy because I spent $10 on this dish; however, I will be back to try some of their other burgers. I'll update my review then...

Not a huge fan of Burgers & Brew, but it does the job.  Tasty burgers and plenty of beers to choose from.  It has never been really crowded when I go in, but I heard it can be.  The location is cool and the service is usually good, I just don't get anything "special" from it.

If you're looking for a quick bite and/or a drink, this is a cool spot to visit.

The service has definitely improved.  I am usually there between 5 and 7 pm so I get regular table service, and it is not too crowded or noisy  that early.  I is the best burger in Chico, although I have to admit I have yet to try burgers from the Banshee and Nobby's (which I hear are amazing).
All my kids love it (teenagers) and I often see a wide variety of ages in there.  I think it is because I am always there early.
The service is reasonably quick and they have a wide selection of beers so you are sure to find a great combination. My favorite is the Spicy Guacamole Burger, side salad instead of fries, and a pint of Guinness.  Try it!

During the Christmas Preview four of us ducked in for a pint of Brew at the bar. The selection was good and the service was friendly. Tim was a great Bar Keep. I will be returning to Burgers and Brews soon to try the Burgers.
I'm really glad such a nice place moved into that building, it's such a great location. I hope they use the upstairs. The balcony seating is great on spring evenings and warm summer nights.
If you haven't been there, drop in and enjoy a pint.

    Very good quality!

Nice People, good food = good moment!
The price is reasonable, although it's more expensive that the rest of Chico student oriented restaurants.

They provide a very large choice of burgers & salads (between 8 and 13$ approximatly).
A large choice of beers, some of them being imported from Europe (Belgium mainly).

The patio is super nice when the weather is sweet. It's quiet and cool!

I might go there right now, my review mae me want to go there before I go back to France!

Anyplace that carries Chimay in tap is automatically in my good graces!

Honestly, the food is only slightly above average, but they make up for it with an eclectic selection of beers (better than most restaurants in Chico) and burgers. Where else can you order a Buffalo burger in Chico? Oh, and they have some serious garlic fries!

The atmosphere is part upscale bistro, part beach-front burger joint, and is a perfect fit for Chico. Prices are a little higher than I would expect but not exorbitant. I wouldn't say that it lived up to all the hype, but I would definitely go back.

I am really mixed on writing this and will write another later.

visit 1:  I went to Burgers and Brews a few days after it opened.  Being new staff and what not I did not expect much.  The staff far out weighed the customers and the service was alright.  They forgot to put cheese on my burger.  I tried to wait for my server to come back and he didn't  but I flagged down a guy who promptly took it to the kitchen window, checked my tag and added cheese.  He also apologized.  The food was amazing and even though we didn't see the person who took our order again every staff member who passed our table got us refills, sweetener or whatever it was that we needed.  I was pretty impressed

    visit 2
the next day was my friends birthday.  I talked him and 2 other friends into going here to celebrate.  We took into consideration this would be their first friday and things may be hectic.  they tried cramming the four of us at a small table intended for two people.  We asked to move to the bar and they allowed this.  the bartender took our order and we sat and chatted and tried different beverages.  an hour later everyone sitting around us who ordered before and after had their food.  the man next to me who ordered after us ate and left.  i became irritated and instead of throwing a fit i stepped outside for a moment.  it wasn't until i came back the bartender thought to check on our order because the birthday boy was getting very aggitated.  the food came out and it was wonderful and thankfully hot.  we were annoyed but left full.

visit 3:  a week later i decided to go visit this place again since though I had a bad experience I thought the food was wonderful.  I found a friend downtown and conned him into joining me.  He loves his meat very rare so I thought he would love their burgers, they have the option for rare by the way.  Once we were finally able to order it took over 15 minutes to get my soda.  I flagged my server down twice to remind him, I was pretty thirsty.

I noticed when it gets busy there even though they are over staffed they avoid eye contact.  They are so flustered they don't want to serve or help anyone.  As a guest and someone who runs a diner I find this irritating.  I keep trying to tell myself these people are new and they've got a difficult job.  Finally got my soda.

An hour or so later we finally got our food.  We quietly ate.  Our server only came back to drop the bill.

The only reason I give this place two stars is because the food is fabulous.  If you want good service I suggest going on a slower night, give them a while before you visit during a peak hour or on weekends.  I hope the service improves and I'll be back more often.

Update:  Due to the continual crappy service I've received at this establishment I will not return.  This really makes me sad because the food is great but it just doesn't make up for the rest.  Sorry B and B but you lost a handful of faithful people trying to give you a chance.  :(
