Definitely one of my favorite local spots in Frederick.  I've been here a few times and the food and coffee do not disappoint.  I usually come here for weekend brunch because they have more of a selection on their menu.  I've had the French Toast, Huevos Rancheros, and the Anything But Ordinary so far. All were very good and well worth trying, depending what  you're in the mood for. I've also tried their signature coffee drinks, such as the Clydesdale and Ninja Turtle--both were very good. I love coming here for brunch, although definitely expect to wait to be seated since they are usually busy on weekends and do not take reservations.
Review Source:Food is fine, once you get it. Really, consistently poor service. Refused to seat, claiming 45 minute wait, with several available tables and no one in line in front of us. Other times, just getting a waiter to take your order, let alone bring your check, is nearly impossible. Food is great but not worth the wait.
Review Source:Came here last night after dinner at Sumittra, the river-walk also runs behind here which is a nice semi-scenic walking path. Nola is a small cafe/bar type place with a (very loud indoor) live band, if you get there early enough you won't have to pay a cover-charge to see the live band (at least not when I went). The beer selection is pretty limited but you'll find beers like Sam Adams, Flying Dog, Corona.. their desert menu I believe may vary, but with a choice of banana pudding pie or strawberry rhubarb I took a pass. Also, the food service doesn't run all night long (I didn't try any food here) but you can order drinks all night at the bar, I think we were paying like $4 per beer. Overall the place is ok, mostly 20-30yr old hippy/hipster/nerd types hanging around and no ID check.
Review Source:I LOVED this little coffee shop! Â Not only do they serve excellent coffees, they have infused liquor and a nice selection of food. Â Service was excellent and our watiress was very friendly taking the time to answer all my questions and help me select the right coffee for me. Â This was a wonderful stop on a day in downtown Frederick. Â I'm always looking for those places that exude a bohemian vibe and Cafe Nola just gets it. Â Can't wait til I'm back in Frederick to stop in again and try their brunch!
Review Source:We were weekend exploring (from upstate NY) and decided to try Nola after reading Yelp reviews, and seeing the amazing liquor infusions they create. Sunday brunch was fantastic! Great vibe, fun atmosphere, excellent selections, yummy food, good service, couldn't wait to go back! So much so, we went on Mon. a.m. (Memorial Day), too. Unfortunately, had an exact opposite experience...many tables were empty, but they would not seat anyone, because the kitchen was backed up. (note this is a coffee bar, too...guess they never thought guests would like lattes or a drink while patiently waiting) Food was fair, coffee didn't arrive until we were nearly done with our meals.
Get it together Nola! You should be an easy 5 stars, but it is really management and a few poor staffers that bring you to a 1. My 3 star rating is a generous average.
TIP: It's probably worth a chance, and hopefully ownership reads this and makes some adjustments. Maybe just drink your way through the infusions and forget eating all together!!
3.5 stars.
Both advertised and word-of-mouth as a vegan-friendly restaurant, however, there is only one vegan entree on the dinner menu. Â Not many vegetarian options either. Â I was counting on the soup of the day to have at least one vegetarian option, but it was turkey chili. Â That really limited my choices and left me wondering why people consider this a vegetarian-friendly restaurant. Â
Drinks came out quickly, however the wait for food was almost intolerable. Â Restaurant was only half full at the time. Â Even the appetizer took forever...and wasn't worth the wait. Â 3 golf-ball size goat-cheese fritters were nothing more than deep fried goat cheese. Â A rip-off for $7. Â You could just as easily buy a log of goat cheese, cut off a chunk, and get the same taste. Â How about putting different fillings in each, say one with chopped hazelnuts, another with strawberry-balsamic, etc. Â Otherwise no one will ever order it again. Â My husband's steak, at $22, would have been nicely complimented with a side salad, bread, and maybe a steak knife. Â He enjoyed it, as I did my kale salad ($12). Â Again, bread would have helped make this more of a meal. Â It got tiring after a while, as it is similar to many deli salads that you find at organic markets (which are sold as side salads, not entrees). Â I was really hoping for more creativity in the food, since the drink menu is rather exciting. Â
My husband had delicious strawberry beer, and I tried a tea latte. Â So wonderful, but I made the mistake of asking what kind of milk it was made with (menu said it was tea, steamed milk, honey, and vanilla). Â It was half-n-half! Â Yikes! Â So that's what, 350 calories and 30 grams of fat??? Â Next time I go I will see if it can be made with milk or soymilk. Â I didn't see anything on the menu that allows you to choose your milk, but since this is advertised as a coffeehouse (among other things), I will assume that can be done. Â I did say next time, but I will only be coming here for drinks. Â Food was overpriced small portions; I can say that with confidence because I saw other patrons' food and it was all way too small for the price--for example, the eggplant dish ($13) consisted of 3 slices of eggplant, a small handful of polenta, and a tiny mix of tomatoes and spinach. Â If there was dessert, I never saw the menu nor was offered any. Â Again, as a "coffehouse", I will assume they have something.
I'll update my review after my next visit.
I was looking for someplace to meet an out of town friend for brunch and bloody marys. Â Decided to try Cafe Nola. Â Absolutely a great choice! Â While we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, we got their Nola Bloody Mary. Â Great flavor, good size, I love the pickle/pepper/olive idea. Â Staff was very friendly and attentive. Â We had the Italian Benedict and Anything But Ordinary. Â Both had great flavors and were cooked perfectly. Â We will definitely be back!
Review Source:It's all good at Cafe Nola! Coffee, brunch, lunch, dinner and late night! This place is a must if you're in downtown Frederick. As a musician and quasi-foody, I appreciate the care that the staff takes of their patrons.
My personal favs are the "Ninja Turtle", the Vegetable Tempura, and the Black Bean Burger (it's made in-house and super tasty).
Cafe Nola is among the top of the list when it comes to restaurants/coffee-bars to go in Frederick. The atmosphere is very inviting and relaxed. The food is delicious and very well prepared. Last time I was there for dinner, I had their burger topped with fondue-style Gouda cheese, and sweet potato fries, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The crab-meat nachos were also excellent. The bar has an awesome variety of beers and liquors; I'm sure there is enough variety there to please any one. However, my favorite part of Cafe Nola is their coffee. I say they absolutely brew the best coffee in Frederick. You can get virtually anything you ask for and their specialty cappuccinos are exquisite. If you're looking for a cheap place to find any of the things I mentioned  above, Cafe Nola is always a safe bet.
Review Source:I was checking out downtown Frederick, which was pretty dead on a Sunday morning. Â This place was one of the few places that was opened so I decided to drop in. Â It is a cute, hippy-ish coffeehouse/bar and was really busy, but I was able to get a seat by the bar.
I'm not a coffee drinker because caffeine gives me headaches, but I decided to order the Ninja Turtle latte (hazelnut, chocolate, and caramel. Â It was really good and tasted like hot chocolate.
I also ordered the Rush Hour wrap with a side of roasted potatoes. Â I'm not a fan of wraps and the salsa made it kind of wet and difficult to eat. Â I ended up eating everything, but the wrap, with a fork. Â It was pretty good, but I think I will opt for the platter next time.
What's not to love? They have tons of creative drinks with lots of house infused liquors. The food is delicious with plenty of variety - healthy/vegetarian options available. They have live music sometimes and even when there's a wait, the tables get turned pretty quickly. Â If you go for brunch, it's the best French Toast in town.
Review Source:My wife and I come here for brunch on the weekends a lot, so I can't speak to what the place is like on other days or in the evenings.
I am a huge brunch fan, and had been looking for a place that has a bit of the style of my favorite Seattle brunch places (Peso's, Portage Bay, The 5 Spot, etc), and sort of stumbled across Cafe Nola. I expected from the name that it would be a cajun/creole style menu, but its not. Its an upscale cafe menu, with lots of emphasis on the idea of standards done to a superior level (which is pretty much my favorite style of brunch).
After a couple visits, I think my wife and I have settled on some favorites. The lattes have always been good, I am in love with the French toast, and my wife loves the Italian Benedict. Service has always been fairly quick, though not speedy, and it has ranged from packed to just a few people dining there.
I wish there were a few more seasonal options on the brunch menu, or maybe just add a couple different kinds of french toast, honestly. I could be okay with that. Stuffed? Topped with mascarpone? Just throwing that out there guys.
This place has a little bit of everything, you need a coffee shop, a bar, a lunch place, a dinner place, they can do it all. Â We were strolling around Frederick on the way back to DC from hiking on the AT, and after looking at a couple different menus around downtown, we settled here. Â Cafe Nola doesn't get the press love of a couple of the other places in Frederick but I could not have been more pleased with our experience. Â After hiking 12 or so miles I was super hungry and couldn't decide between breakfast and lunch, even though it was after 1pm. Â I was surprised that Cafe Nola offers both until 3pm which is pretty helpful. Â I basically combined a couple of the breakfast sandwiches with the Wake Up and the Good Lovin, on the ciabatta roll. Egg, cheese, pesto, smoked bacon, onion, and fresh greens, so tasty. Â This was after I managed to consume the Parmesan and Prosciutto Omelet which was equally satisfying. Â The garlic mashed potatoes that came with the omelet was a nice choice and were so rich and creamy that are some of the best I've ever had. Â If I could have somehow fit in another side order it would have been round 2 of that. Â Washing them both down with a 3/4 glass of PBR finished off with their homemade bloody mary mix was the perfect compliment, so good in fact, I had to order a second. Â
It was a little too early to hit the hard liquor but this place had a pretty impressive drink list, most of which were made with their homemade infusions, right above the bar for all to see.  Now I know that this is pretty standard for craft bars these days but the mix of inventiveness and simplicity of their infusions left me wishing I had more room for a mixed drink, particularly the apple cinnamon bourbon.  They make a proper michelada as well but with Corona, so I chose to order my own version. Everyone there, from the host, to the servers, to the bartender, could not have been more friendly.  Compared to DC of course, the prices were incredibly reasonable, especially compared to places like Isabella's on the same strip. Â
I don't get to Frederick that often but this place has risen right to the top, worthy of a return visit.  Give it a shot for coffee, lunch, dinner, or just the great drinks.
Cafe Nola is the sort of place where you could spend an entire day- coffee in the morning, a quick lunch and killer after dinner drinks. Â The tea is fresh and loose (steeped in bags tied to a dowel rod draped across the cup's top- very hip) and many of the drinks are made with their homemade infusions such as apple cinnamon whiskey and blueberry cake rum.
Would recommend: Peach ginger tea, blueberry cake martini. Â Anything made with the garlic habernero infusion is bound to be strange and like nothing else you've ever tried, so if you're up for an adventure that should definitely be on your list.
Great little cafe slash bar that we strolled into on our day out in Frederick. Mainly because it was frigid outside and we wanted to sit down for a bit. I got a cappuccino that was rich with espresso and milk, all you can expect from a cup.
What really caught my attention at the bar was jars of different kinds of sangria sitting on the shelf. If you are in the area, please try those and let me know! I would have, had it not been the fact that we were looking forward to dinner in a couple of hours.
Two words: MAC DADDY.
It'd already been a long day and was about to get even longer with the drive back to DC so I stopped for coffee after lunch at Lunchbox. Â This seemed to be the best local spot for coffee, according to Yelp, so off to Nola I went.
This is one of those it's a coffee house, no it's a bar, no they serve cafe food, kinda joints. Â Some places can do that right, but most end up failing since nothing is done with true expertise. Â When I walked in I wasn't even sure where to go. Â There wasn't really a counter to order from, but there was a barista station. Â I just kinda ambled around until a girl behind the counter asked if she could help. Â I ordered the coffee special of the day as an iced latte solely because of the name. Â Yeah, that's lame. Â But, how many girls in Frederick can say "I got me a mac daddy, hey hey"? Â This girl can. Â
The coffee itself was probably fine, they say they use Illy which is pretty great, but I couldn't taste it over the macadamia nut and milk chocolate flavors. Â Shame on me for thinking Cafe Nola could make me like nut flavors in my coffee [hazelnut being the exception. Â Why does hazelnut flavor always taste so much better in everything than almond/macadamia/etc flavors? Â I blame Nutella.] Â For a place that's not strictly a coffee house, Nola had a great coffee condiment bar and even had real honeycomb in the glass honey pourer.
Overall it's a place I'd go back to since it's cute and the service was good, plus the pure coffee drinks are probably pretty legit. Â Just don't get suckered in by the mac daddy giving you some sugar.
It is more like 3 1/2 stars. Â
Their sweet potato fries are the best I've had, by far. Â The atmosphere and staff are also great. Â However, I think I'd stick to the coffee, baked goods (both are great), and the occasional mixed drink. Â Here is why:
They have a cool collection of infused vodkas. Â I enjoyed their cucumber/mint one, but didn't care for their bloody mary which was way way too salty--I couldn't drink it. Â My order also included a burger, which was suppose to be medium well but was by far not. Â Their burger patties are thick so I am sure this is what contributed to it. Â I had to send it back and eventually got one that was better, but was still not cooked as asked. Â The staff however handle the whole thing really well so I can't be mad at them and would definitely go back.
It is a cool laid back place with great atmosphere.
I love this place, but the horrible service keeps me from going here. Allow me to explain...
Of all the bars in downtown Frederick, this is the one that's most appealing to the things I like: it's quaint, kept dark, usually pretty busy, the crowd skews younger, their drinks are especially well-made (the bloody Mary's are perfect), and every time I go in here they're playing full Radiohead or Elliott Smith or whatever albums -- not just the singles, but the full albums. I hate having to listen to Bon Jovi every time I want to have a beer and, as far as I know, there's no other place in Frederick that caters to this kind of music.
But here's the thing: I don't really LOOK like I'd be into these things. And what I've found is that if you don't look like the bartenders themselves -- skinny jeans, cardigans, dark framed glasses, beards, the whole hipster thing (which I'm not knocking, mind you) -- then you don't get served. I once sat at a table with three friends for a solid half hour before being acknowledged -- and it wasn't busy at all. The waiter actually walked past us several times. But our attire included hats, apparel with sports logos on it, I think maybe there was a hoodie involved. I realize that what I'm describing here is profiling, but I'm 100% convinced that's what goes on.
The real bummer is that a couple years ago I had a really great experience sitting at the bar. The bartender was engaging, pleasant, and even offered a few drinks that she'd created herself that weren't on the menu. But we were among the only patrons at the time, so that explains it.
Anyway, I wish we could give half stars because three feels like too much, but two feels like too little.
It's only 4 of 5 stars because we only had some local beers and some dip.
It's 4 stars because the atmosphere was very quaint, clean and had a nice rustic feel to it, which is a plus for both me and my girlfriend.
We stopped by here right before an Over the Rhine concert at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. We ordered a few Flying Dogs and had the Spinach and Archichoke dip. The dip was AMAZING!!! Huge chunks of artichoke in the dip and nicely baked pita bread that tasted as good by itself as it did in the dip. Man was it tasty! The bartender was a petite, tattooed female who was pleasant and generous. When asked for a sampling of one of the special beers on tap, she gave us a good portion to try out.
We'll be going back to more dip as well as to try out some of their other entrees. Oh and they make their own liquor! Non-descript from the outside, but I say it's worth it just for the Spinach and Artichoke dip we had :D
Yummy, yummy. I'm a sucker for eggs benedict. I came on a Friday afternoon for brunch, but it was packed (perhaps because it was Christmas Eve)! The food was very good and the portions were adequate. The service was spotty at best. Our waitress came over twice right after I arrived, but I didn't have time to look at the menu. Then she forgot about us until I had to flag her down. After that, we didn't see much of her and had to flag her down to get the check. So yeah, service wasn't totally the greatest.
From what I could tell, it's very hipster. It's a good place for coffee and drinks, and it's near all the cute and quaint shops of Frederick. I would go here again if the service was better.
Seriously. Terrible service. Truly truly terrible. But not terrible in a "Wow, what jerks" way, since the servers seem to range from nice to indifferent. Terrible in a "Have any of these servers ever served before? Or seen anyone serve? Or been to a restaurant?"
Sadly, I met a friend for coffee and a breakfast snack here. A friend who used to work at Tryst in DC. While the coffee was actually good, the experience as a whole was laughable. It appears that about five people were working to accommodate about 30-40 customers. A pretty easy load, really.
Seating was slow. Service was ssssllllooooowwwwwwww. Once coffees were brought, the server never asked if we were interested in ordering food (we were.) Someone finally wandered by and we ordered. The server forgot my Winter Spice muffin. Completely. And didn't return until I had given up, gone up to the counter, and ordered it again.
The muffin, aside from being really cold and startlingly solid (unbreakable), was the oddest interpretation of Winter Spice that I can imagine. You think, oh, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger? Maybe orange or apple? Nope: cranberry, walnut, GOAT CHEESE. I'd like to point out that none of these are spices. And that one of them is goat cheese.
I would suggest that maybe the servers should write down orders. And have dedicated tables. Also, do not be fooled like me: despite the name, Cafe Nola does not appear to serve anything Cajun, Creole or vaguely New Orleans-y.
The place looks like it could be lovely, and the infused alcohols are beautiful and sound delicious. But with such dreadful service, I probably won't return.
I sure wish I could give this place a half-star or zero. We went there for dinner, so my review is not based on their coffees or music or whatever else has been reviewed already.
Arrived at 6:30. Took forever to order. Took forever to get served. At about 7:45 (no exaggeration) our food arrived. It wasn't that good. The waiter NEVER seemed interested in being a waiter or otherwise providing service. Food is slow? Probably not your fault, but how about some communication to tell us what's going on? Didn't even STOP BY between taking the order and serving us. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
I've worked in or around the restaurant industry for decades. I was primarily a server and a manager. I've stiffed a waiter three times in my life. This was the third. Congratulations.
No chance I'm going back, and high chance that I'll make sure everyone knows about this terrible experience.
** Update: the restaurant owner saw this review immediately apologized the next day. So that's something positive, at least. **
Oh, Nola, you are nearly enough to make me move from the West Coast to charming little Frederick. Â
We were visiting friends in Frederick and I think we ended up at Nola four out of the five days! Â We tried breakfast, brunch, lunch and cocktails. Â Crab nachos hit the spot after shopping all morning in downtown, as did their infused liquor cocktails (elderberry vodka, cucumber rose gin, lemongrass vanilla vodka, sweet tea peach vodka etc). Â Loved the breakfast burrito, the side potatoes, the endless mimosas (duh) and especially the huevos rancheros during the weekend brunch. Â Also ordered their "Freddo" iced coffee (just barely sweetened) and it was delicious. Â Plus, they'll give you a refill for $1. Â
Loved Nola so much and hope to make it back sooner than later!
This place does NOT have it's act together when it comes to music shows. An artist I like said on his website that he was playing here at 8:00. The cafe website said they were having a show at 9:30 which didn't include the artist. I called to check whether the artist would be there or not, and they told me no. (Even though they had posters all over the place with his name on it)
I went there anyway because the artist told me personally that he was going to be there. I showed up at 8:30 and waited over 2 hours before the show started. F minus minus.
On the plus side, they have a bunch of really cool looking liquors that they infuse themselves.
My sister and I checked this place out for the first time last night. We went in for dinner and shortly after a DJ started spinning. The crowd didn't seem to be much of my type, but the night turned out well.
For dinner I had the Gorgonzola Burger and my sister had the Turkey Burger. Both were absolutely delicious and the drinks didn't disappoint either. I had the vanilla lemon grass martini and she had the strawberry margerita, both were delish. I wasn't at all impressed by the desert selection they had. We ended up having some orange creamsicle  cake that was pretty dry and lacked any orange flavor.
The highlight of the night had to be the dancing,,,, oh my God. Some people definitely took some pointers from the Jersey Shore peeps. It was too funny to see this tiny snooki look-a-like bounce around like she was having a seizure. She was the life of the party for sure!
I really wanted to like this place, as the food was actually tasty and the decor was really cute.
But two words: shitty. service. I honestly expect really great (or at least friendlier) service when I'm home in Maryland, as I am used to rushed/ignored while up in NYC. This place was like being back in the city.
They are severely under-staffed. There was 1 server, 1 hostess and maybe 3 cooks between the coffee bar and the back. It's absurd to think that would be enough people for this place, which was extremely busy.
The servers themselves were never rude, and even discounted us for Slow Service (which there is even a discount pre-programmed into their system because it probably happens so dang often), but it took about 15 to be seated (mostly because some rude skank butted in front of us), and it was a long wait between being served.
On top of that, they forgot silverware, drinks and sides. They came after asked two, sometimes three different people. The owner of this place needs to gets over it and hire some more people.
So,
Food: 4 stars
Ambience: 3 stars
Service: 1 star
Price: 4 stars ($7 for a sandwich and cup of tea is pretty banging)
I have to start off by saying I was not very impressed when I walked into this place. Â Only because it had been described to me as a bar and I walked into a coffee shop, that was empty and did not provide a very good vibe. Â It was one of those hard to describe things. Â We were with a big group of people (probably 9 or so).
But that all turned around almost immediately when we went up, standing indecisively at the bar, wondering if we should stay or leave, and the bartender offered us samples of the concoctions that lined a shelf behind the bar. Â It's the first time I had ever been in a place with so many really interesting and creative looking infused liquors.
We decided to stay and had the following:
Cucumber Gin and Tonic  (Cucumber, Mint and Rosewater infused gin, tonic water - $7) - AMAZING.  We had just finished with a day full of wedding crap (really, there's never another way to put that), and this insanely refreshing drink was just what I needed.
Vanilla Lemon Grass Martini  (vanilla bean and lemon grass infused vodka mixed with a splash of sour, simple syrup and sprite - $8) - surprisingly, this was actually not as sweet as it sounds.  It was almost as light and fresh as the Cuke Gin & Tonic with a strong lemon grass 'scent' to it.  It was a bit like drinking perfume, but in a really good way.
The rest of our party had either the same drinks listed above, wine, or shots of the infused liquors from behind the bar. Â It was really enjoyable and the staff was friendly and accommodating without hassling us or being annoying about it. Â I also thought that the prices were extremely reasonable. Â I'm not sure if it's because I'm so used to South Beach prices, but I think that $8 for a martini made with homemade infused vodka is a steal. Â
I would definitely return for drinks again :)
This place is pretty fresh, it has an artsy Portland feel to it. The staff were equally cool they were very personable to me and my wife. Our waitress explained to us that most of the food served here is grown on their own farm.
The food rocked! I had the grilled chicken wrap, and my wife had a sandwich of some sort. Both of us had the sweet potato fries which were so tasty!
This is our new favorite lunch place!
Very small joint. Â Never had problems finding street parking in this area, since my practical shoes are always ready for a little walk. Â Talk about getting my parallel parking practice in!
Stopped in late on Saturday night because we were craving their awesome infused alcohol, but we evidently missed last call. Â It was okay because we'd been pregaming at Charles' a few blocks away (although at 1 am I guess that's not really "pre" anymore). Â Bouncer and bartenders were polite but firm. Â Fortunately we got a hookup with a round of plain low-shelf vodka shots at the end of the bar with one of the regulars, then proceeded to bust it out on the tiny dance floor to the mainstream DJ while narrowly missing the cafe tables. Â Oddly mixed crowd, dim ambiance but not quite divey. Â The people had great energy for being packed into the intimate space, but I guess that's what drinking will do haha. Â Definitely will be back, even with the crazy couple arguing outside in front of five cops keeping the peace.
Drunk girl: WHY DIDN'T YOU STEP IT UP?!
Drunk boy: CALM THE FXXX DOWN!
Drunk girl: SHOW ME WHERE YOUR BXXXS FELL OFF!
Drunk boy: SHUT UP!
Drunk girl: SHOW ME! SHOW ME! SHOW ME!
Cop 1/5 across street: *starts crossing street* Oh I'll show her...
I just got back from dinner and I have a smile on my face. Â We ate outside at a candlelit table for two and it was very romantic (well, except for the group of guys hanging outside a few feet from the restaurant who really loved to drop the F bomb). Â The menu is small, but as my boyfriend told me it's probably because they are good at what they do. Â Also, for because the menu is all natural and locally grown I was surprised at how decently priced everything was.
We started with the pita appetizer, it came with three slices of pita with different toppings.  I enjoyed the avocado, cream cheese, prosciutto and basil and my boyfriend had that as well as the olives, feta  and mint.  There was a crab one but neither of us like seafood so the kitchen was happy to give us two of one variety versus the whole trio.  For dinner I had the grilled chicken salad which had mandarin oranges, strawberries and almonds in it.  It was a pretty large helping for my small belly, but I devoured it.  My boyfriend had the stuffed chicken and was very impressed.  All of our food came out tastefully displayed, I wanted to take a picture it was almost too pretty to eat.  We ended with a freshly made brownie, perfect as a small dessert for two.
The waitstaff was very friendly and on top of our refills and making sure we were satisfied. Â I will be adding this to my list of restaurants to visit regularly.
