It feels good to come to this little strip mall Italian eatery. The Italian sweets are addicting and of very high quality.
The food, made from scratch and often using local and in season veggies, is good. Not blow your mind good, but damn comforting and tasty.
The prices are a bit high, not overly bad. You get a nice salad, a mini-loaf of garlicky bread and the dish itself. The portions aren't massive but will leave you completely satisfied unless one is ravenous.
This review is entirely regarding the ridiculous number of traditional Italian sweets to be found at The Cannoli Queen. All the classics your nonna used to make along with a few other options I had never seen before like the Piazze di Formmagio (also known at the "Italian Crack" by the Greenwood Police Department). Triangular-shaped hunks of oozing cream-cheesy bar-like desserts. Sinful! Sinful, I tell ya! Other highlights include the spiced rum biscotti - this was my first time experieencing a soft biscotti - reminded me a of a loaf cake. Perfect for the holidays with the warm spiced flavors and icing drizzled on top.
Another element of the Cannoli Queen that you can't help but love is the classic Italian family charm of this family-run business. Reminds me of my Italian family reunions where the word "mangia" is used generously. During my visit I learned that they also make in-house pastas including my favorite, gnocchi. Mamma mia. I'll be keeping an eye on their Facebook for the next time they're making it fresh as their featured dinner.
