The Canyon's Crown

Tucson's restaurant quality has declined precipitously in the 30 years I've lived here. Gone are so many places = the Tack Room, Anthony's, and that great little Chinese restaurant on Campbell whose name I forgot. We are left with something like this place and some chains. Nevertheless we gave it a try.

The first experience was in the restaurant. We both ordered fish and chips. Mine was ok but not top-notch. My partner's breading was so thick and hard he needed a knife to hack through it.

For our second visit we ordered carry-out. His hamburger was terrible but he was hungry. A soggy bun, overcooked meat, a limp slice of tomato and a piece of lettuce that looked like it had been used before. My fish and chips was inedible. The breading was so thick that it was uncooked like paste next to the fish which was dry dry dry.

Never again.

Nice decor. . .I like the bar set up.  I haven't tried any of the menu items, but it looks good.

Had an interesting night on 7/17/13. . .Chelsea, was my bartender.  Well, she started off strong then notice the little things like busy shooting the shit with the regulars, showing dog pictures on her cell phone.  I didn't mind, because I was being served adequately.  She failed to understand how to change the channel on the television at the bar was a good indicator on her professionalism. . .Well, about an 40 minutes later was finishing my snack (the Scottish Eggs were delicious) and my Guinness, and Chelsea just set the tab down and asked if I was ready to cash out. . .she seemed disappointed that I wasn't ready.  Then she copped an attitude when I asked about the annoying "hold" announcing circuit on the bar's telephone.

Manager or senior bar staff. . .fix Chelsea's attitude and professionalism.  This is my 3rd straight night at the bar and I like the Guinness pours from 2 bartenders, Chelsea could use a refresher.

One of the best places on the East Side!

My boyfriend and I Love this place!  The food is always delicious, served hot, and served quick.  We love the the fact that they always have an amazing selection of rotating taps.  If you are looking for good beer on tap and good food, you will not be disappointed with Canyon's Crown.  Try the scotch eggs!  The service is amazing! John and Chelsea are great bartenders and Erin is the best GM in the business!
