I have not eaten a meal here, only dropping by drinks and apps.  DH likes the extensive selection of beers (me, I stick to G&Ts).

The Bavarian pretzel appetizer is HUGE and makes for a good snack.

I come here for one reason- the beer selection.  It's the best I've seen in all of Richmond.  If you've never tried Stone beers (brewed in San Diego), you are missing out but you can make up for your deficiency here.  Try the Arrogant Bastard or Smoked Porter, both are fantastic!

I hear they serve food here, too, but I can't really vouch for that.  Other than some appetizers, I haven't eaten here.  Capital Ale House is a great place for a primer before a night out.

I was prepared to like this place... I really was! There's an incredible selection of beers on tap, they have great happy hour specials, and it's less than 5 minutes from both my house and work.  What else can you ask for? Perfect  happy hour hangout!

However, when my fiancé and I went last week for happy hour, we found MOLDY pretzel pieces mixed in with our Rauchbier Cheese Dip.  I get it- I really do.  Food goes bad quickly, and sometimes you don't catch it.  However, when we (in my opinion, rather calmly) pointed it out to our waitress, she didn't even seem surprised, or offer to do anything about it. We assumed it would at least be taken off the bill, but we were even charged for the moldy food they'd given us.  I couldn't believe it.
I'm really bummed about that I can't recommend this place, but hate to give my business to a company who doesn't seem to mind giving you moldy food, then CHARGES you for it.  Ugh.

We chose this restaurant for a company dinner and we all left wishing we had not come. The food was not up to par. The special which was suggested by the waiter was not available. Once the food did show up it was very bland and not cooked like it should have been( as we were told by the waiter). The beer that one of our party wanted was not available. The alternative suggested by the waiter was not available either. The seating arrangements could also have been better. You could smell the smoke from I guess the smoking section. Not a great experience. We could not wait to get out of there.

I was told this place had one of the best beer selections in town.  I've realized that I have to lower my expectations in RVA when it comes to selection.  When we walked in it was so weird to walk into such a dark space with such douchy lights.  We sat at the bar and I have to say that I'm impressed with the amount of local brews they have.  Besides that, everything was meh.  I had the pretzel sandwich and the man had the cheeseburger. Both ok.. Our bartender was really nice.

Outstanding beer selection but food is less than desirable.  Shepard's pie described on menu as having a chive infused crust,  it came with no crust at all and it was soupy. Steak was ok, nothing special or different. Beer selection is what the place is known for. They should give you some bread or something while you read their manuscript beer menu.

They have a very good selection of beer.  I think they must have hired a new chef, because the food I had last night was just okay, and the food used to be awesome.  Such is life.  I would definitely go here during happy hour.

Ugh, am I outta there yet?!  Rarely am I so antsy to leave a place.  I came with a business group of 12 and we got stuck in apparently the only space they had available for us, which was next to the Pool Tables and Dart Boards.  And I say "space they had available for us" very loosely... we were squeezed in so tight that even the table attached to ours scooted down so we could spill over into their table.  Then they ended up getting squeezed in too.  Not a good start!

The Beer Menu was impressive, with nearly 100 to choose from.  After finally choosing one on the menu, and the waitress finally arriving to take our drink orders, our VP was told they were out of that one.  Nice.  He had to choose something else.  From what I heard, the beers were all good.  I had Wine which was good.

But the food?  Meh.  OMG they had "Sausage Fritters" and nobody knew what they were... they were deep fried balls of sauerkraut and a cheesy cream type sauce.  Rumor went around the table that that they were Conch Fritters (really?  in VA?  I didn't buy that for a second)  The "fritters" were good, but we all agreed there wasn't a speck of sausage in them.  The Pretzel was okay, nothing special.  Pirogi's okay.

The dinner menu consisted of sandwiches, burgers and steaks.  But the steaks started at about $30 each!!  So lets see, its a business dinner where all day we were in meetings discussing the company's bottom line... do you go with a $10 sandwich or $30 steak?  The politically correct choice is the $10 sandwich or burger, which we all did (except for one, wow!).  Anyway, they were all too big to fit in your mouth without squishing them down, but mainly because of the enormous buns.  I ate mine with a fork and knife, and I had to leave most of the top bun on the plate because it was just WAY too much bread.  The salad that came with it was just plain greens with a light drizzle of oil on it, very disappointing.

Overall, I think most of us couldn't wait to get out of there, especially with the Pool and Dart players getting more drunk, loud, verbose and competitive, narrowly missing the heads of the folks at the end of our table.  Its pretty bad when not only our table was glad to leave, but the other people in there were also glad to see us leave so they could have more room too.  Never again, especially for a large group of people.  Scratch that... never again, period.

This place isn't the destination for food and drinks, however it does have a fantastic selection of beers and is great for happy hour.

The Monk's Blood is by far one of the best brews in the place.

We love to meet up with friends at Capital Ale for get togethers and celebrations! The food we've had is very yummy (usually sandwiches and pretzels), although we had friends complain about the price/size/taste of their steak dinner. The service is usually really great with servers being able to recommend several beers on tap (they have a HUGE beer menu). Also, if you're interested in trying a sample, they're only $0.25. I do believe there is a game room with darts and billiards, but we're usually too busy chatting and catching up to ever make it in there.

IMHO, CPA is a great place to hang with friends, grab a beer and some grub and chill.

CAH was just a quick walk away from the Marriott hotel where we were spending the evening en route to NJ.

The beer menu was impressive, bordering on overwhelming with regards to the number of choices.  After tasting a few samples recommended by the bar tender we settled on several local Virginia beers.

The food menu was very unique.  Unfortunately the food was meh.  We started with perogi which were tasty but very chewy.  I had the stuffed pretzel sandwich (stuffed with kielbasa) which was very tasty but on the small side.  Debbie had a veggie brochette, which was a bit strange as it was a cold sandwich.

The service was OK.  They took too long to bring Deb's second beer (mine came right out).

CAH is worth a second try but only 2 stars for this visit.

A bit heavy on the local Virgina taps but always has excellent and rare selections available on tap and in the bottle. The food is terrific and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Whenever I travel to Richmond on Business I say at the Hilton Garden Inn (aka as The Capital Ale House annex) so I can spend my evenings here enjoying great food with fabulous beer.

This place is a good spot for happy hour and man do they have a great beer menu! Of course, if you've been here, you already know that. The food is boring and is typical of an establishment that has great beer. You either get good beer or good food, but rarely both. I've been for burger mondays and had the "spicy" black bean burger. I found it bland and VERY messy. If you are going to anything other than happy hour, that's just foolish.

Soooooo good! Hello!!! Flavored mayos for fries? Pretzel bread chios for cheese dip? Endless beer choices? Yes, this place has all of this! Plus bomb fish and chips! I WILL BE BACK FOR MORE!

Great craft beer selection.  A few dozen on tap, a few hundred styles in bottles.

Some of the appetizers (the pretzel) are tolerable.  The entrees are not good.  Way too many better places to eat in the same shopping center and nearby.

Basically 4+ stars for beer.  2 stars for food.

Was there the other night, the server was helpful and they had a lot of Beers to choose from. I just wish they had the simple Blue Moon. Burger was kinda burnt and crispy. Still had flavor but wish it was more cook well done then burnt. Food overall was okay. Def come back again and very nice comfort atomsphere, More room to walk and and bigger then the one on east main.

If you are thirsty and you know clap your hands!  If your thirsty and you like beer come here!

Their beer selection is amazing; so if you are into beer this is a must place.  The surprise came in the their burger.  It was not bad.  I had very low expectations of the food since I came for the beer.  I ordered the Cap Ale Burger (medium well) and it was actually a decent burger.

I will come again and next time it wont be only for the beer.

It's been a couple of years since I've been here, so this is as good as time as any to review it. I came here with my sister and brother in law for a late night dinner, expecting to just get appetizers for $2 after 9pm (a special they have on Sundays).

Let me tell you, I don't think I've been to a restaurant that has offered so many beers! I'm a beer and wine girl myself, so I was surprised about the variety of beers. The list was ridiculous. It was pretty much its own booklet. Thank goodness for Tom, our waiter, who had so much knowledge of the beers. Not only was he knowledgeable about the beers, he was also pretty honest about what he thought about the food. He checked on us constantly and was great at his job. My brother in law and I ordered appetizers, which was alright but nothing to rave about. My sister ordered the lamb burger, but after an unimpressive taste, sent it back. After that, we were pretty satisfied with just munching on the appetizers and drinking beer.

Overall, great selection of beer and I can't speak much for the food because nothing really impressed me on paper. This restaurant is a good place for appetizers and beer. Enough said.

The Capital Ale House was right next door to the hotel I stayed at recently so it was very convenient to grab some drinks.  The place was not very busy for a Friday night but that is understandable since its 15 minutes from downtown.  They have a HUGE selection of beers and the drinks were cheap.  The only issue I had was the service. The place was very empty on the night we visited but it still took forever for us to get service and drinks.  I'm not sure what the issue was but from my perspective it should not have taken so long to get drinks when there is no one else at the bar we were at.  Hopefully others have had better experiences.

I am not sure if I have ever been so disgusted with a restaurant as I was with Capital Ale House this past weekend. I was out with my family and we were going out to celebrate my Sisters and I's graduation. We had just gotten out of her ceremony, which was around 4:30-5pm and since all I wanted was a good beer we headed to this Capital Ale House because we did not wish to go out down town. When we got there the restaurant was empty, as to be expected at that time and we were shown a table. Only problem was we where shown a corner both that really should seat no more then 3 people. I am the youngest of my family at age 27 so there was no way this was going to work. No problem I thought, I just went up to the front stand and asked for another table. I was told that was the biggest table they had and it would have to make due, even though I could clearly see there were many empty tables that could easily have been put together. When I asked again they said they would discuss it with their manager. After about 5 minutes the girl finally reemerged from the back room having talked to the "manager" and said there is nothing they could do. After that I just gathered my family and left, went to a different restaurant where they had no problem putting two tables together for us.

Now I will be the first to admit that I tend to be tough on certain places when it comes to Customer Service as I have worked in the hospitality business for over 6 years, but in what world is this acceptable? I mean you have an empty restaurant yet you will not accommodate a decent size group that would obviously easily spend over a $100. The part that enraged me the most was that they "talked" to the manager yet I never saw him/her. If you really can not do the extra work for your customer then get off your lazy tail and actually apologize yourself. I would never return to this place, and if I really wanted to enjoy some good beer I would just suck it up and go to the one downtown. Thankfully I live in Raleigh, NC where restaurants have actually heard of something called Customer Service.

Always come here when I am in Richmond. In fact I Make a point of staying at a hotel that is on the other side of the city of where I need to be just to be close to this restaurant. Great beer selection and the food is good too. Love the pretzel for an appetizer.

They had new appetizers on the menu this night. I tried the deviled eggs with lump crab meat. They were excellent. Almost like how mom makes them. I had the prime rib floor the entree. It was cooked perfect and tasted very good.

We had a great time and we were impressed up until the last 5 minutes. I was in town on business and had been here once before. I made it a point to book my hotel close to this place. My wife traveled with me this time and I was excited to take her, as I enjoyed it the time before. We arrived and sat at the bar to have some drinks. We each had a couple of drinks then moved to a table for dinner.

We were informed by the waiter that it was 2 dollar burger night with the purhchase of any drink. We typically don't eat burgers and fries, but it sounded good, so we decided to take them up on the special. We were informed that fries didn't come with the dish, which was fine, so we ordered fries seperate. We also ordered a pound of muscles, which are very good at this establishment. We had also ordered two more drinks from the bar .

The time came for our check and my wife had only eaten a couple of bites of her burger and wanted to take it back to the hotel for later. The waiter informed us that there were no "to go" boxes on burger night. When I asked why, he said that the special was dine in only. I explained that we had dined in and had we known that there were limitations on what we ordered, we would have ordered something else. I understand wanting to drive drink business into the restraunt, but you already had us. We had spent well over 50.00 on drinks alone. It's not like we were trying to circumvent the system.

Overall the food is good, the beer selection is great, the atmosphere is good and the service was good, but the way that we were handled in the last 5 minutes left us with a negative view of this establishment.

On our next trip to Richmond, we will likely venture out and find somewhere else.

Three of us ate here last night.  The drinks were fine, the food was mediocre at best, the waiter tried his best, but was a little oblivious to how much we didn't want to interact with him.   We were having a discussion that he insisted on getting in the middle of.

All of that would have been fine had it not been for he $90 tab.  Wow.

I think I will pass next time.

Listen to the other reviews; go for the great beer selection, but eat somewhere else. The food is a weak meh. Too bad, this place would be an easy 4 stars otherwise.

Luckily, the bartenders know their stuff, and there is a lot of variety, both on tap and in bottles. I like the fact that they have a local beer night. They also have an ice trail around the bar so your drink is always cold! Nice.

Went for $2 burger night while I was in town for a trip. The burger was solid (possibly the best I've ever had for the price) and the fried were really good too. "Belgian Style" fries with mayo is better than it sounds.

Not surprisingly the best part is the beer selection. They had almost every beer I could think of with a few omissions that are related to the brands lack of a Virginia distributor. I'll go back if I'm ever in the area.

Capital Ale House has perhaps the most impressive beer list I've ever seen, especially considering everything we asked for was available. The thick beer menu featured literally hundreds of choices from around the world, including many American microbrews. A good beer list is the fast lane to my heart.

And the bartenders were excellent guides to that list, with attentive service and thoughtful recommendations for new beers to try based on preferences. I liked how they were able to maintain bar tabs without keeping credit cards--one less thing to worry about drunkenly forgetting.

That said, Capital Ale House failed to deliver the deliciousness when it came to food. My fish tacos were spicy above my comfort level and served alongside bland rice. When we were sitting to eat, our waitress was a bit absent, so we ended up stealing silverware and condiments from a nearby table.

Prices were also a bit high, even considering the quality of the beers. Most large draft pours ran at least $9 for 22 ounces. Also, we were here with a group of about 20 people, and found ourselves crammed in the bar area when we relocated after dinner. The layout is almost like parallel swim lanes of bar and tables, so people end up crowded into a narrow aisle. A bigger bar area would make Capital Ale House more fun to hang out in.

If I'd come here with just one or two other people solely to drink, I'd be giving Capital Ale House five stars. Alas.

The food here is decent, but overpriced. The beer selection here is quite vast, but also overpriced.

I realize bars need markups to stay profitable but I'm not inclined to pay around triple what I would pay if I picked up that same bottle at Whole Foods, and when you're talking craft beer, triple is actually substantial.

Long story short: if people are paying, Capital Ale House is awesome. If not... eh....

$60 for mussels, three beers, burger and dessert.

About 20 years ago I worked with a statistician and when the numbers weren't working out she'd say, "This is an area of mixed results".

Well, the Capital Ale House is a restaurant of "mixed results".

    The good:

    1) The beer menu is actually great.  Were I to be rating exclusively on the beer quotient of this place they'd get a six starts. Their beer list has page after page of bottled and on-tap interesting offerings from Trappist Monks to California surf types to small batch craft beers: a selection to make your head swim.

    2) The young lady who was my server was knowledgable and recommend the Friday evening special: a newly tapped keg of fresh IPA.  Awesome.

    3) The place is a little loud, so if you wish to hold a meaningful conversation - it will be tough.

    The not-so-good:

    1) The food is way below average.

    2)  I ordered the mussels in garlic and herbs.  The mussels were large and meaty but the broth in which they were steamed/poached was nearly devoid of flavor.  The typical steaming liquid consists of white wine, garlic (lots of garlic), onions or shallots, butter and aromatic herbs.  The steaming liquid used by the Ale House was, as far as I could tell, was water, herbs and a little garlic: not very tasty at all.  My thought at the time was that the cook had never tasted the real thing so he/she didn't know how to prepare the real thing.  Then to make matters worse, the small loaf of bread served with the mussels was stale and dry.  So, my appetizer was unappetizing bland mussels with stale bread.

    3)  Looking to avoid a double-dose of disappointment, I went simple and ordered a cheeseburger.  The burger was prepared as I asked but wasn't very flavorful and it was a tad greasy, and served with fries and dill-infused mayo.  The burger was good as were the fries and the mayo.  Good, not great.

    4)  For desert I ordered the chocolate cake and a fruit beer.  The cake was okay, but nothing special.  The beer - a Lindeman's Frambose Lambic was a raspberry-flavored powerhouse which paired very well with the cake.

If I were the manager of the Ale House I'd reduce the menu offerings to one page and focus on bar food.  It appears that the Ale House's reach exceeds it's grasp as it is not currently equipped to serve as extensive a menu as it now attempts.  In over-reaching they are jeopardizing the continued success of the business by disappointing diners - such as myself.

I really like the place and think it has the potential to be a huge success.  However, until such time as they are able to focus on getting the kitchen in order those who come here to eat will walk away disappointed and dissatisfied wishing the Ale House had worked just a little bit harder.

Beer Side of the House:  5 stars
Food Side of the House:  1 star

Stopped in for a drink on a Monday night.  They have $2.00 1/2 pound burgers when you buy a drink.  What a dissapointment!  First of all, their beer prices are super expensive and I am from California, Kraft Beer Central!  Talk about a 300 percent mark up!  Secondly, the burger arrived and it was overcooked, dry and had no flavor.  I asked if I could have it med rare and the guy behind the bar said they don't make burgers to order on Monday nights because it is so busy.  If I wanted it med rare, I would have to order their $9.00 burger and get it the way I want.  What a crock!  They partially cook their burgers and then finish them off when a guest orders, that's why they are dry and overcooked.

Wow, if you want an overpriced beer and a pre-cooked, dry, tasteless burger, go to this place on a Monday night.  What a joke!

What a tap house. What a tap house with a list of brews from the far reaches of the United States. Well done place. And they serve in three different sizes so you can really get your taste-and-move-on, on.

12oz brews for roughly $4, large for $6.50 (large means 22oz) and a real large for... I can't remember.

You can get through some great brew in a hurry here with the small size option. Thanks to it's magic I tried a number of the taps over dinner... notables were, of course, San Diego's own Ballast Point "Big Eye" IPA. That's just homesickness manifesting itself into bias, though. And Magic Hat's #9 not-quite-pale-ale. Great brew.

Caprese sandwich is alright. Much greasier than it needs to be and the tomatoes were definitely weak... maybe too much oil? Too shriveled? Not sure... The three potato salad was solid, though.

Anyway... definitely worth a stop if you're in the Glen Allen, VA area and are too lazy to drive into Carytown or The Fan on your first night in town.

So...I am a bit embarrassed to admit it, but though I have been here many times, I had never gone to Capital Ale House for $1 (actually $2) burgers.  Somehow, I always had scheduling conflict.  So, I decided to take advantage of the opening I had and went.  I have to say that for $2, that is one tasty burger.  I got two of them, and demolished both of them in short order.  The fries here are pretty good (though I don't care for the mayonnaise dip), and I destroyed them.

To cap it all off, I decided to get a couple desserts (since I had never gotten dessert here before - wow - I think I was hungry).  I got the cheesecake and the brownie crumble.  The cheesecake had a decent flavor and texture, but it was not cool enough, and that made it less enjoyable.  Needless to say, but I didn't finish it.  Rather, it ended up being passed around the table.  Now, as far as the crumble goes...Oh...my...GOD!  That thing was amazing!  It was the dessert that I never knew I wanted!  The perfect end to a pretty good meal.

The best part, though, was the bill.  With alcohol and a tip, it was less than $40 for both myself and the wife.  It would have been less if I wasn't so greedy - err - I mean...hungry.  Anyway, I know where I'll be on Mondays from now on...

Overall, I'd say it's an okay place to grab a drink after work, like a lot of people do. Once the novelty of having 1,000 beers available wears off, you'll come to the conclusion they are all just...okay. Oh, that one sounds interesting! Oh, that one has a cool name! How's your beer? Good, it's... okay. They have a lot of burgers on their menu, but I've had a better burger at some local restaurants down in the fan, and even from 5 Guys. The service was fine. I'd go back for drinks after work, but I'd rather try a new place first. This place had more of an older crowd, compared to other places around like The Beach House.

I like GB better. I think their food is A LOT better than CAH, and I like their beer more, even though they usually only have a couple on tap. Too bad they don't have one in Richmond though. To Tysons Corner we go...

After reading on Yelp and checking out the website of the HUGE beer selection, I was excited to visit Capital Ale House for a good burger and a nice refreshing beer to wash it all down.

I had a feeling it was going to be busy inside since the parking lot was quite full when I arrived on a Monday night. I walked in and the place had a nice vibe to it, think upscale Gordon Beirsh minus sports bar. I was seated immediately, probably because I was dining alone. (PITY ME) The waitress came up to me a few minutes later and asked for my drink. I told her my preferred beer is a Blue Moon and she suggested two beers. Don't remember the name but she seemed knowledgeably with their beer selection and catered to your preference. The beer took a while to come so I was ready to order my food when she came over with my beer since I didn't want to wait another 10 minutes before she came around again to take my order.

I went with the Lamb Burger (Medium Rare) (Seasoned ground lamb patty grilled and topped with baby spinach, warm brie, and Dijon mustard served on a flaky croissant). After having a decent Lamb Burger at the Ace Hotel (in NYC) I was on the mission to find the best lamb burger.

The beer was refreshing and a twist off of Blue Moon so props to her for her suggestion. The burger took a while to come but seeing that the restaurant  was extremely busy I could understand. The burger was presented nicely and looked delicious. I dug into it, perfectly cooked, not too gamey. The croissant added a different texture to burger and made the lamb patty the star of the dish, not over powered by a big hamburger bun. DELICIOUS.

One of the patrons the table over, asked me why I had a croissant and if it tasted better and I said it did, but it's a lamb burger. He then proceeded to tell me that if I got a 1/2 pound ANGUS burger, it would have been only $1 with the purchase of my beer. He said since I was having LAMB I couldn't get it for $1 and that the waitress should have told me that. That was the reason for the big crowd. That was a pickle for me.

The waitress came by a few times and checked up on me and I asked for another suggestion for beer. She brought two tasters for $0.25/each which she didn't tell me about. I went with an Allagash White, similar to Blue Moon with some fruitiness.

The Lamb Burger was good and I didn't mind paying the $12 for it. The service can be hit or miss but due to the $1 burger night it was a little slow. The waitress could have been more informative regarding the special burger night and the price for the beer tasters. Overall my experience at Capital Ale House was good and I would visit again the next time I'm in town.

This is a very cool place!  It has a slightly upsacel, kind of business casual vibe.  There is a very cool ice strip running through the bar - sit you brew down and let it stay cool! To say that the beer menu - yes, I said beer menu- is extensive is a bit of an understatement.  It's freaking huge!  Even if you are not a beer lover there sure to be something on it that will suite you. Oh, and there is a dart board!

The food isn't bad at all either.  Some of the best burgers in town! My fav is the lamb burger - its served with mint jelly on the side - very cool. The sausage plate is also a winner.  The stuffed pretzel sandwich totally rocks.   If you had rather have just a bite of something with your brew, try the soft, chewy, warm pretzel - yummy!

Also, Monday Nights are $1 burger nights.  Get a regular burger for a buck if you order a drink with it.  Cheese is like $0.50 extra and fries (very good also) are about $2.  What a deal!

All in all this is one of my fav casual places.  You really can't beat it for a cold beer, god pub food, and a very friendly crowd!

Every Friday after Thanksgiving, I get together with some people from high school here.  They have a ton of beers on draft and even more in the case.  I get overwhelmed with the booklet of beers, and just get the bartender to pick something.  The bar area is roomy, and there are separate smoking and non smoking bars.  You can't smell smoke at all if at the non smoking area.  There are TVs in the game room with pool tables, couches, and darts, but the room gets pretty smokey.  Unfortunately there are no other TVs anywhere so not a place to go watch the game.   The crowd is mixed, there are older people, as well as some youngin's, but the majority is about 25 and up.

I've never had food here, but looking at the menu, the choices look delicious.

Stuffed Pretzel Sandwich...enough said! This was the first thing that I tried on my first visit to Capital Ale House and the only thing I ate after that. When I moved from Richmond, it was on my list of places to go before leaving. OMGsh, so good! "A split and grilled Kielbasa with melted Havarti cheese, sauerkraut and sweet mustard served between soft pretzel bread."

This CAH is a great place for beer lovers with 77 beers on tap. They have a good Octoberfest celebration with entertainment and outdoor grilling.

Do you think they ship to CA because I am craving a sandwich right now?

The only real reason that I've been to Capital Ale House is for the steal the glass nights. Even so, they're not really a deal. When I went it was $9/beer. So what if I'm stealing the glass, I'm basically paying for it anyway.

For an appetizer, we had the pretzel dish which, while from bavaria, was cold and poorly garnished.

The sandwiches were mediocre at best if not just greasy.

It's located in a strip mall in Glen Allen, VA, meaning that there is no character whatsoever. The place could be any restaurant anywhere in strip mall america.

Go downtown. Better options, better food, more character.

    Beer, Beer and more Beer!

This is Nirvana for beer drinkers. They have 30 beers on tap and nearly a hundred types of bottled beers from around the world. The food is pretty darn good too.

What interesting and unigue about this place is the beer cooler that runs the length of the bar. It's a brass trough that runs the length of the bar that's kept frozen. You set your pint glass there and boo ya...cold beer
    stays cold!

I was there on a recent Friday around lunch time with the idea of hitting Boychicks Deli, next door for lunch before driving back to NoVa. Bad idea, Boychicks was slammed and they had no lunch counter for those flying solo.

CAH is just right next door and the place was nearly empty around lunch time on a Friday.

I had the Peppercorn Turkey sandwich on panini bread, delicious!
Unfortunately they don't serve sweet tea. Hey what's up with that, the cradle of the south and no sweet tea. They do serve a tast lemmonade though.

I noticed they have several types of Abita and Anchor Steam Ale so I will def go back when I can enjoy a cold beverage!

Yes, this place is awesome, for two reasons:

    1.  They have more beers on tap than I can count and a huge list of bottled beer that could take hours to read fully.  It's really quite amazing and you can find so many creative ways to get sloshed here.  Seriously, if you like beer, just go here.

    2.  The food is actually quite good!  I've had the BBQ ribs and steak here and both were delish.

I've been to the one downtown and enjoyed it as well.  Overall the atmosphere is nice but casual.  Definitely worth checking out.
