Captain D's

When I was in Cleveland I was madly in love with Arthur Treacher's, and thought I was forever scarred by a really bad experience at Long John Silver's on the way to North Carolina.

After moving to Indianapolis, which has no Arthur Treacher's locations, I became a fan of Long John Silver's, partly through necessity.  Their crab cakes aren't as good as the ones at Arthur Treacher's.

Then we decided to finally try the Captain D's location (one of the few left, apparently) here in Anderson, and I don't like Long John Silver's anymore.  Captain D's has fish that appears to be unprocessed---under the batter or breading that's real, flaking fish.  Their employees are friendly, competent adults, and they even offer broccoli as one of the side dishes.  (And now they have a fantastic orange-chili dipping sauce!)  Because it's less processed, the food is a lot less salty than at LJS, which is a big plus for me.

It does cost more than the big chains, but overall it's definitely worth it.
