If you want a true Chinese meal that is NOT the same pre-packaged "Chinese" found in so many "Chinese" restaurants, then you must try the Wing On Inn. Â The Wing On Inn has been in Anderson for over 30 years, and serves true unique recipes. Â Hands down they have t-h-e b-e-s-t egg drop soup I've ever eaten. Â I finally quit trying to eat it anywhere else (and I don't even live nearby) because it simply did not measure up to the Wing On's recipe. Â Their egg rolls are hot crisp and fluffy, and oh my gosh.... their fried rice is one of a kind! Â
I had not had the opportunity to dine there in 23 years and just visited with my husband. Â Same people, same menu, same excellent service, and same incredible unique flavor. Â I was literally purring with delight when I left! Â My husband said it was by far the best Chinese he'd ever had in his 50 years.
The menu items... be prepared to take a huge portion home with you. They don't skimp on portions!
Now... don't expect glitz. Â It's not fancy, and the building and interior are pretty worn and dated. But don't let that deter you. Â
Finally, the price. The fact that it has hardly increased in 23 years nearly blew me away. Â They are charging about HALF of what the meals are worth.
Definitely a must have for the Chinese food lover!
Wing On Inn has been a staple Chinese restaurant in Anderson, ran by the same family for the past 20 or so years. Their lunch buffet is a steal being around $4 with dinner being only $6. The buffet table is always being filled with food fresh from the kitchen. Also, you have the option of ordering an entree from their extensive menu, my personal favorite is the Wing On Sizzling Steak which is a New York Strip steak grilled and served on a fire-hot plate with mushrooms, broccoli, snow peas, and a brown sauce. Most of these entrees aren't more than $10 and for lunch, everything is $4-5. Wing On Inn is the best Chinese restaurant in Anderson.
