Had dinner there the other night, food was incredible- not bar food at all, but high end food at bar food prices. the lobster bisque was amazing, burgers are great! We went back the next morning for Brunch- you have to try the Stuffed French Toast! Service is great- very friendly staff. Did not expect a beach bar to have the kind of food this place has- we'll be back again and again!!
Review Source:I sincerely wish I could find it in me to give Tower 13 more stars.
So so so disappointed in Tower. About 3 months ago a friend who used to work here brought my boyfriend and I here for Sunday brunch. Everything was wonderful for our first experience. My chilaquiles were great, his benedict was on point, the $10 bottomless mimosas were flowing and we were enjoying everything.
My boyfriend and I started coming here every other Sunday for brunch, obviously expecting a similar experience to our first visit. Isn't that a focal point in the restaurant industry? Providing consistent service and great food each time you visit in order to produced patrons to propel sales.
Anyways, we noticed after each visit that when we asked for a special request, such as substituting grapefruit juice for orange juice in the mimosas (because by stomach is very sensitive to OJ) something that they had allowed before, just plain out said NO. They did not offer an up charge or perhaps a different alternative, just  said no. Maybe I could understand if it was fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, but it is definitely store bought when I saw the bartender pouring it. Maybe that just makes me a little more annoyed because I had initially asked if it was fresh squeezed and they lied to me saying it was fresh, when I saw the generic carton afterwards.
The next time we came, we brought my boyfriend's mom who was visiting from up north. We were telling her how great the food was from before, this time service was mediocre. However, the FISH AND CHIPS and the live band playing  (2 daughters and a father) were AWESOME. Top notch in my book. We did leave very pleased.
Our last time, which was this passed Sunday  at 1:45pm was completely ridiculous. Certainly my worst experience in a restaurant. We walked in knowing that we could not get the grapefruit mimosas we had once enjoyed there, fine. When ready to order, I asked for the fish and chips. The server said that we could not have that because it is not on the brunch menu. I could understand that if I was asking for this item at 11AM but it was pushing 2PM, not brunch time on regular restaurant  time. The only reason my boyfriend and I came in was specifically for the  fish and chips. I asked the server to ask the chef if he could make an exception since this was the only reason for or visit. He said no? Really?
The server had even told us he is not sure why they do this because people ask for the fish and chips very regularly. I do not understand why the chef would decide to deny their guests what they really want. We thanked the server for his time and left the restaurant to find another who could accommodate a party of two willing to give them money for a better dining experience.
I had been in the industry for 7 years and had always been told the guests come first and every experience should be enjoyable. In a place where there are many options to dine out, you would assume Tower 13 would strive to provide quality service to the guests to keep business booming and draw in a bigger crowd. Happy customers = patrons = more money for servers and the business.
I do like many aspects of Tower 13 and would be open to coming back if they take the steps in their business to become a more guest-oriented restaurant. Being so close to the ocean they have the potential to be one of the best in the area.
