At 7 0'clock in the morning, you can drive by and see pick up trucks and cars lining the outside of Carmen's, I know because I have passed this place at least one thousand times, seriously, because it is on my way to almost anywhere I am heading. The outside doesn't really scream dive bar, but somehow you just get that impression...
Meeting two friends here for lunch this past week, surprised me to the innards of Carmen's, It is a lot of bar, covering most of the space, but I witnessed every travel of life inside, from t-shirts and braided goatee bikers, to shirts with ties, to suits and ladies all dressed up for a business meeting, but sliding inside here for a quick lunch and a drink, to folks like me and my two friends, who were just there, casually dressed..
They boast a typical bar menu with a few daily selections, like homemade soup, the sandwich of the day was kielbasas with sauerkraut, which is all right in my book, plus a daily special. TV's and games to play, even a lottery machine to place your bets, should you feel lucky.
They have beer and the wines are limited, but what they offered was good enough for Carmen's, they even make martini's unlike the ones your grandmother drank, which totally surprised me, even the dirty ones. Ashtrays are everywhere, to catch those fallen ashes and credit cards are accepted.
My friend Joyce had a great looking cheessteak and said it was good and it came with bagged chips, but she got a side of crinkle cut fries with cheese sauce and I snagged a few. Nicole got a grilled ham with cheese with chips, her friend ordered the mild wings and said they were spicy good, but they sure as heck looked meaty, so I bought some to go for hubby and he's loving them.
I got a fresh hand made cheeseburger, which was good and nachos with cheese, say yay Kyle! Hey that's nacho cheese! Don't drive by Carmen's a thousand times like I have, very friendly, good enough food and very welcoming, we had a good time!
