Well, I got bit by an amazingly large and apparently aggressive boxer while at the Carolina Ale House. He was in the restaurant and after sniffing and licking my hand he lunged for my face but luckily I backed away fast enough so he just got my hand. Don't even want to imagine what could have happened if a child had been in my place. I won't go into every detail but clearly they shouldn't be letting dogs into a restaurant. I get it, it's S. Florida, it's a laid back place, but when you let dogs in you're not only breaking health codes but putting a lot of faith in the judgement of the dog-owner, who in this case was drunk and admitted her dog had an aggression problem, blamed her boyfriend for bringing him.
The manager was a little slow to respond appropriately but they did bring band-aids and bought me a drink. I was bleeding and asked the manager if he had any  antiseptic or neosporin, he didn't but was nice enough to run to the store to get some. I did appreciate that. The manager also gave me an employee discount on my meal. That was nice too, but I don't know..considering how litigious people are these days and how totally at fault the restaurant was in this case, I feel like he could have gone further. I manage a restaurant in Connecticut and if I'd ok'd a dog coming in and it bit somebody, I'd be all over that - telling the dog owner she had to leave, comping the entire meal, falling all over myself apologizing, giving away free...I don't know, anything I had that I could give away. It's a big deal. I admit that this isn't really a review of the restaurant, but I do feel like when you get bit by a dog IN a restaurant, it's worth writing about.

Oh, as a funny side note on how litigious people are, at my restaurant we had a woman call a lawyer and try to sue us because she "chipped a tooth on our cornbread" (our cornbread by the way is the softest, most moist ever - no chance, laughable even). She didn't go through with it though and tonight she came back. She demanded a free meal and drinks for her pain and suffering and we gave her a round on the house. After a few hours of drinking she admitted to the waitress that she actually hadn't chipped a tooth but just lost a filling and wasn't really sure when it had come out but SUSPECTED it MAY have been while eating here. And that had been all it took to get her so fired up as to call a lawyer. Unbelievable!

Obviously I won't be calling a lawyer. My hand healed up fine and I haven't been foaming at the mouth or howling at the moon so far.

I went to the Ale House yesterday for lunch with a friend. It was not to busy and the server took our order quickly, He was very friendly and helpful. The food was good, but not great. It was comfortable and nice. When my server was busy and another server passed the table, she cleared the used dishes. There was team work between servers. All and all a good experience. I will return.

As usual we enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Tenders and Ribs. The service is always prompt and friendly. Enjoy yourself and watch the game.

Maybe I shouldn't eat at places where I am fully aware of the lack of quality in their food products because it seems unfair to give a poor rating for a bar food chain based on food quality. However, (meaning, I'll do it anyway, haha), the fried pickles weren't battered well and certainly weren't fried for long enough. My friend and I also had a strange white substance from our lemons floating around in our drinks. I had the turkey avocado wrap and the turkey was slimy and nothing tasted fresh. The avocado was browning and there was far too much mayonnaise on it. After we finished, we sat for about 20-25 minutes waiting for the server the drop the check. It was taking so long (and it was a Monday night, mind you) that I finally asked the hostess to please have the check printed. I left extremely disappointed but as a fellow server, refused to skimp on tip.

Will NOT, ever, in this life or the next, be going back.

Well this is obviously a place to come watch the game over some beer or long islands, but when I came I wanted wings, but instead of just the typical wing basket I opted for the Buffalo Boneless Chicken Zingers, and they were much better than what I've had at other places offering this buffalo alternative.  Very tasty, hot and satisfying, but I haven't had anything else.  Service is what you expect at these kinds of places, nothing great but not too bad. Just another Ale House, and that ain't bad!

OK but mostly a poor imitation of it's competitors.

Had Blackened Fish Filet, which was a tender whitefish encrusted in blackening spice & prepared island style with mango salsa & garlic cream sauce. Served with seasoned rice & fresh veggies. Excellent dish.  The cream sauce adds wonderful flavor to the sweet mango salsa.

This ale house is very similar to the other variety of ale houses I have been to.  The food is good.  The servers are nice.  They have a a variety of food to choose from on the menu.  They offer meatless options.
I do not, however, like the lobster tank.  I find it gross when I see those machines that people use claws to grab lobsters like a stuffed animals. Others can think what they want but to me that is cruel.

I've been here about 3 times and each time's meal and experience wasn't very memorable. The food is really mediocre and I do prefer to go to Bru's Room over Carolina's because the bartenders seem to pay a bit more attention to you than the ones at Carolina's. Also, the sport events are more fun to be celebrated at Bru's than here as there really are not many spots in Carolina except at the bar where you can strike up a conversation with another local about the current sport events. I just don't really care for this place anymore, not even that I live 2 minutes from this either!

Sandwiches and Burgers are great! French Onion Soup is awesome.  Wings are huge but were just okay.  Service is friendly and efficient.  We enjoy this place when want good American grub and don't want the mega-chains frozen food offerings.  Cool place to grab a drink or a place to eat with friends.

In the battle of shite sports bars in Boynton Beach,  the contenders for "worst place" are bru's room and the Carolina ale house.

The prize for worst food:  Carolina ale house. Fried food and plastic entrees just slightly worse than bru's. Fried pickles suck.

The prize for worst bartenders: bru's room.  Once you manage to get a bartenders attention here they generally pay attention to you for the rest of the visit. Waitresses are a mixed bag.

The prize for worst atmosphere: draw. Carolina ale house always seems to be running some live trivia game, blasting songs at 130db in between questions. Novel but lame.

This experience happened a while ago, but we have not been back because of it.  I passed by Carolina Ale House last weekend while on a trip to Boynton Beach and was reminded to write a review.

We are from Miami, but we visit Boynton Beach at least twice a month during the Spring/Summer.  My husband and I enjoy sitting at outside bars and having beers.  We had driven by Carolina Ale house on numerous occasions, wanting to try it, but we always had our kids with us.  Finally, my SIL came with us one trip and we had a free night.  We headed straight for Carolina Ale House.

Upon sitting at the outside bar, we were greeted by a young, female bartender.  I want to say her name was Kat, but not 100% sure at this point.  She was very friendly, and smiled.  She proceeded to tell us that it was happy hour and that "all draft beer was two for one".  Awesome! We surveyed the draft beer selection, and found quite a few that we liked, so we proceeded to order our first beer.  So far, so good.  For our second beer, we both switched to another beer that we had been wanting to try.  We did the same for our next two beers. All in all, we had 4 beers each,  and they were all different kinds that we wanted to try.  We really enjoyed our experience to that point.

When it was time to go, I picked up the check and saw that the bartender had charged us for each beer, not as "two for one".  When I brought this to her attention, she said "Oh, no, the two for one only apply when you have two of the same beer".

    What?

I am actually totally fine with that being the rule, but....wouldn' t you have mentioned that as we were switching up our beers??  We obviously were interested in the two for one, as we even asked her what time happy hour ended, etc..  I have been bartending for years, and, I'm sorry, but you never assume that the guest knows everything. While I understand that draft beer "two for one" can mean two of the same beer only, I would definitely make a point to make clear that it is two of the SAME BEER ONLY.  Especially when she notices that my husband and I kept switching beers.  All she would have had to say is: "Okay, well, just so you know, that beer will not be two for one".  That's it.  But she didn't, so I complained and asked her to get a manager.  She wandered around the restaurant for a minute, then came back and said  "Sorry, the manager is not going to take any of the beers off of the check". At this point, I was flabbergasted.  First of all, I don't even think she actually talked to a manager, and secondly, he/she should have come out to talk to us.  It's not about the money, it's about the principle.

So, this is why I will NEVER return to Carolina Ale House, and I will tell everyone who listens not to go there.  It really is a shame, too, because we really liked the outside bar and the beer selection.  Oh, well.

Average food and service. Fried chicken sandwich is more bread than chicken. Wife had the blacken fish plate and it comes with your choice of salad.  She liked the taste.  This place could be so much more with a little attention to the cooking and serving staff.

Better than I expected! I came here with girlfriends after some bridesmaid dress shopping at Alfred Angelo in the same plaze. I had a giant patron margarita and a reuban sammich. I am not into sports and it was very SPORTS scene but still we had fun and the food and drinks were tasty.

Carolina Ale House is the reason I can't quit bar food.

I was surprised that they had one in Boynton, after going to Carolina Ale House when I lived in NC. They offer the same menu and everything I've tried there is good. Salads-check. Pastas-check (although they only have pastas with penne-no other noodle variety) burgers and sandwiches-check. appetizers that you can't resist like their fried onion straws (unless you dont like onions that is)-check. Pizza-check. Their pizza is awesome if you dig the thin crust variety and their chicken fingers are so good they should be illegal. This location has a spacious side patio complete with tv's in every direction you look.

I'm gonna give this place a nice review. We've been there 3 times since moving to Delray and the bartenders at the outside area have been stellar. Helpful with ordering food (though not rocket science, I understand), they are a very friendly bunch. The food has been consistently good, the prices are very reasonable, and the 10 bucks for 5 Bullets and the 15 for 5 Coronas add to the joy. 5 beers, a giant margarita, 2 orders for food for 41 bucks. I don't miss Long Island. Enjoy.

This is our kickball bar and we love it.  The staff is great.  The prices are very reasonable.  And the food is good.  My favorite is the buffalo shrimp salad.

amazing food, good service. they have separate smoking and non-smoking section....which is good.

the wings are good but sometimes they chicken meat is slightly stale however the server was more than happy to replace it.

beers are to die for and there are soooo many of them.

definitely worth visiting more than once....good hangout...and value of money as well!

I came by here last week to eat a later dinner with my man and a friend.  The few times we have been here the service has been pretty slow.  This night was no different.  We sat in the outside seating area.  I ordered the lemon parmesan crusted tilapia, which was pretty bland, but the cajun shimp pasta my man ordered was pretty tasty.  Drinks were expensive for being so watered down.

I hate to admit that we ordered the fried twinkies for dessert, but we did.  Those made the meal.

The location is pretty great, but service and mostly mediocre food make it to where I never suggest eating here when it is time to decide on where to get our grubs on.

What a beautiful day it was to sit outside and enjoy our lunch while watching the afternoon college football games on tv.  I got the famous turkey pita club without the lettuce and tomato in it.  It was cut into 4 pieces with smoked turkey, bacon, american cheese, and mayo all in one.  Excellent!  I got a side of ranch to dip it in.  The fries were ok, but I was stuffed after eating all of it.  Chris got the half size portion chili nachos, which was enough for 2 people.  We would of hated to see the large size portion.  This place has a nice and chilling atmosphere!  Also, I noticed they have hooks for the ladies to hang their purses on at the bar where they sit at.  Super plus for those who hate carrying their purses while having a cocktail ;)

I went here for the first time the other day as we were driving around trying to find someone place fun and new to try...  It was very lively which was a plus and it was also very clean and the staff was very friendly.. We sat outside at a table by the bar because all the bar seats were taken...  It was 2 for 1 Happy Hour on all Drafts so that was a plus.  Our waiter was very nice and efficient the food came out pretty quickly as well.. We both ordered the same thing the Boneless Chicken Wings and they were very tasty, the Blue Cheese was some of the best I have had it almost tasted more like Buttermilk Ranch with Blue Cheese Crumbles in it..  I loved it as did my friend because he pretty much needed a bucket of it to dip his wings in.. lol  I haven't tried anything else on the menu but I will explore more next time I notice the place gets so so reviews so I will have to see how good it is next time we go...

I just moved to Boynton Beach and this is one of the first places my boyfriend & I tried. The food is really good and lots of variety. They have a lot of drink specials (gotta love 2 for 1 drinks when the 2nd one comes out in its own little ice bucket). Service is good- never had a problem. The patio is nice too.

Its a bar.  (Shrugs shoulders).  Whaddya want?

Food is OK, service depends on the server, drinks are cheap, and the patio is pleasant.  Good enough for me.

Meh. Who cares? This place is a ripoff of every other sports bar - Bru's Room, Alehouse, Duffy's. Actually, I think they are all the same place. It's hard to tell the difference.

Ah...finally, a bar with a fussy waiting staff and managers who contradict everything their bartenders say.

Am I drunk? Maybe. But how else will you get the God's honest truth?

I met some friends tonight to watch a hockey game: game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals featuring the Penguins and the Red Wings. To begin with, I was underwhelmed by the TV service we were provided. Although the opening adverts suggested that the game could be watched in High Definition TV, I was subjected to a sub par broadcast that looked like someone at home filming the game on their camcorder and then feeding it live to the restaurant. Listen, I don't ask much when watching sports at a bar aside from a clear picture on the screen and cold beer. At least the place got the cold beer right.

My server got the service part right for the most part. My draft Ying Lueng's were brought to me in frosty pint glasses and on time. I never felt in danger of sobering up. Kudos to you Carolina Ale House. Also, on Tuesdays, apparently it's old people karaoke night there and for that I applaud you because there's nothing funnier than watching 60 year old's sing and dance to 90's pop songs.

During football season there is a diverse fan crowd to argue with and for that I am happy.

As for the food, it's typical bar food. It's nothing the ladies will get wet over but cooked decently enough that it won't create a riot with the predominantly male customers.

Overall, the place is average, you won't break the bank and it's only elevated by the interesting clientele that frequent it.

The food here is bland and unexciting. Typical bar food. The inside is a pretty typical Boynton Beach bar-going crowd; middle aged and "bro" types. They have an outside bar, which is pretty nice. The beer selection is decent. If I was desperately looking for a drink and didn't feel like driving to The Hurricane in Delray, then I'd consider going back here.

the worst of the worst, service is beyond terrible and the food is bottom of the barrel fried crap.

I will make this review very easy..

    Servers - Amazing.
    Food - YUM!
    Atmosphere - Chillax

I kinda hate the fact that I live in Jersey and can't take advantage of their yummy baked potato soup. Drool.

I came for lunch and dinner (actually in the same day!) while visiting friends in Florida a few weeks ago. This place would be my favorite if I was living down there.

The food was excellent and the servers were great.

I'm putting moderate for the price range.. because while dinner prices are obviously more than lunch, their lunch specials are amazing. I had baked potato soup and half of a tuna sandwich (which was pretty damned big!) and don't think I spent more than $6 or $7.

Jesus, I can't even SNEEZE in Jersey for that cheap!

    Achoo!
Bless you. That will be $14.50.

    Carolina's... come to Jersey!!
