Chandler's Restaurant & Lounge

Wooowwwww- I haven't had such a bad experience in a very long time. It was my girlfriend and my 1 year anniversary. I called ahead and made lunch reservations and specified that. They have a great patio looking over the ocean but for some reason stuck us in a dark corner.... No one was in the restaurant, everyone was outsite....? So I asked to be outside. Who does that?

My girlfriend is severely lactose intolerant, but she loves cheese and loves pizza. Most lactose intolerant people can eat goat cheese, so she was excited they have a goat cheese pizza and  orders it. The ingredients are listed: goat cheese, grapes, shaved apples, cherry tomatoes and prosciutto. It comes out with mozzarella and a little bit of goat cheese. Why would it not say mozzarella like the rest of the pizzas? We ask the waiter, does this have any other cheese other than goat cheese? He says "no" so I said "im pretty positive it does" (unless goat is stringy all of a sudden), "can you please go triple check?" waiters should know their stuff. She would have keeled over within 10 min of eating that.

Then the pizza comes out with all goat cheese and grapes messily tossed all over it.... Nothing else all ingredients missing. What the heck?! 3rd time is a charm right? No they just add the uncooked ingredients onto it. Just really terrible, one would think an hour and a half later and 3 screw ups, still not out right, we wouldn't have to pay for the pizza.... We did.

I got the tasteless French onion soup, Campbells has better (not exaggerating). Most places do a dessert or something for anniversary or at least for an epic fail of a meal, nothing.

On our way out, the manager asks how was everything, like I said, I have been a server and manager for over 10 years, i am queen of customer service. I say super sweetly, honestly we were really disappointed with all the screw ups and how long everything took. And she says "sorry to hear that" and gets on the phone to call someone, just checks out.

I would never return to this place or ever recommend it for a single reason. Which is unfortunate because I'm new to Carlsbad and have been desperately trying to find some spots to frequent.

Great lobster tacos - Jesse was an excellent server (She is the Jersey girl). It is odd that you can't get happy hour on the tables that sit beach side but whatever... The local beer selection is pretty decent, so on that note, ya, I will be back.

I love Chandler's!  This place is relatively close to home, so we've been a few times, so I feel like I can give a good perspective after multiple visits. The atmosphere is cool and casual, with indoor and outdoor seating available, and the staff is always friendly, even when they are busy. The food has great items and good items, and enough options to find something for everyone. The crab crusted sea bass is awesome, as is the tenderloin. The tomato, basil and balsamic salad is good when they do it right - once it had a bit too much balsamic- but was still tasty.  Every time we've been for dinner, we've had great service, and if something was not quite right, they fixed it.  We went one time when a big event was happening in the banquet rooms and the service was a bit slow, but they were aware of the issue and addressed the problem well with us. I will continue to go back again and again, as its a great addition to SD North County dining.
