MENU
I would recommend Charlie Brown's Steakhouse to anyone--even vegetarians! For the carnivore, Charlie Brown's offers various cuts of meat including hamburgers, prime rib, chicken, steaks, and other items. For sides, I enjoy the sweet potato fries. Although I am not strictly herbivorous--by any stretch of the imagination--if I were, then feasting my eyes on the salad bar would give me reason to cheer.
AMBIANCE
Charlie Brown's has a bar for those who enjoy dining informally while watching sports, news, or whatever may be on the tube. Charlie Brown's also has room to allocate to group events. For example, on one occasion I attended a Rotary Event there. In addition to the casual and the business set, Charlie Brown's is entirely appropriate for families with young children. And in the event one wants to enjoy the cuisine but cannot dine on the premises, Charlie Brown's offers take-out.
SERVICE
Knock-on-wood, I cannot think of any unsatisfactory experiences. In addition, there is a "Handshake Club" to encourage repeat dining experiences. Be sure to inquire about the details.
CONCLUSION
I like to think I have high standards. And I know my wife has high standards. This is so especially with steakhouses. She grew up in a "meat-and-potatoes" family. As I write this, I can think of only two steakhouses that prepared her food to her expectations and satisfaction. Charlie Brown's is one of them. It is based on her experiences that I have given Charlie Brown's a Five Star rating.
I like stopping into Charlie Brown's every now and again. It's a little on the pricey side, but the portion sizes are big. My go-to meal is pretty plain: the chicken tenders with the salad bar.
Definitely a fan of the salad bar options. It's certainly better than Ruby Tuesday's.
Their sangria is also pretty darn good.
We had a 50 dollar gift card for here and a 10 dollar off coupon. Neither of us had eaten here in years. We decided to stop here on a Monday night around 4 pm for dinner. Parking in the rear, close to the entrance. We were seated right away.
Our server was friendly and attentive. It did not look like it was very crowded but others started to trickle in as our meal progressed. Plus we overheard 1 person coming in to apply for a busboy job and another was there to interview for a waitress job. That is definitely a good sign, that they are hiring.
We ordered drinks. They have drink specials every night of the week and that night they had 4 dollar import pints. I guess that's a good deal. I ordered a Flying Fish seasonal and my wife had a margarita. We also ordered chicken empanadas for our appetizer.
The salad bar came with both of our meals so we knocked out a salad while waiting for our food. It was fresh and had most of the expected stuff, pretty similar to Ruby Tuesday's salad bar.
The empanadas were like fried dumplings stuffed with spicy chicken that we dipped in sour cream. It was served on a bed of salsa that was really just strips of lettuce and some chopped tomatoes on top of it. More like a garnish than something to go with the appetizer. I believe there were 8 of these tasty empanadas that we split.
Everything came out at a decent pace and our server checked on us from time to time to make sure everything was ok.
My wife had the shrimp and salmon special and I had a Charlie Brown's special sirloin. She said her salmon was cooked perfectly, but found the portion to be too small. Almost as if they cut a filet in half. My steak was big enough, and was tender and juicy, but they did not cook it long enough. I asked for MEDIUM but they served it RARE. It was still bleeding on my plate. I did not send it back, since I can't stand eating my food after others in my party have finished. I guess I have to go back to ordering MEDIUM WELL and hope they don't burn it.
I love the decor in this place. It's not your typical "Shenanigans with all the goofy shit on the walls" chain restaurant even though it is a chain restaurant. It looks more like an authentic old timey joint with lots of old wood, books, and faded photos.
Forgot all about this place but would like to come back again. Prices are a bit higher than other "chain" restaurants in the area, but I don't mind paying extra if the food is going to be better. Maybe next time...
Came here for a drink with a couple friends, and found out it's the last remaining of the Charlie Brown restaurants in the area (and the original location). Â When we arrived, the parking lot was full, and getting a spot wasn't easy. Â When we managed to get one and get inside, there was plenty of space at the bar. Â We placed our order and struck up a conversation with Star, a very friendly bartender. Â Interestingly, she had attended the same college as my two friends and I. Â She answered some inane questions, including, "Can you make an argument against my one friend's desire to date non-American women?" Â Thanks for your honest opinions, Star. Â It was fun.
Throughout our conversations, I couldn't help but be distracted by the head of a hippo on the wall. It wasn't what I expected, but I suppose that's what you put in a bar. Â Also, I think it's fine to show the 2012 Summer Olympic Games opening ceremonies, and they did. Â By the time I was finished watching it, I couldn't figure out which was more bizarre-- the hippo head or the opening ceremonies. This is all to say that there are a fair number of TVs at the restaurant, and it was a pretty good time. Â
One star for the bartender, one star for the drinks, and one star for being a down to earth place. Â The decor could use an upgrade, and the parking can be a pain, but how can you complain about a $2 happy hour draft beer? Â Maybe they can squeeze out another star if I make it back for dinner.
I haven't been to Charlie Brown's in ages. I actually didn't realize how pricey their food has become ($19-$25/entree). Not that those numbers are extremely expensive but for the quality of the food I think they are.
I ordered the 1/2 roasted chicken and it was so dry and overcooked I couldn't eat it. My mother had the filet mignon which was pretty good. My husband ordered the crabmeat stuffed flounder which he said was really good. Maybe I just had a poorly cooked dish but it ruined the entire meal for me. I probably should have sent it back but I didn't so I'm partly to blame for not complaining.
Great salad bar. Service is good and friendly. Huge menu, lots to choose from although not many low-fat and low-cal options.
First of all, it's a basic given in my world that I hate chain restaurants. Â However, I have some family members who loved these places.
After my Applebees experience, my family figured I would not be up for dinner there. Â We settled on Charlie Brown's. Â Charlie Brown's is now the exception to my chain restaurant ban.
They have a wonderful salad bar. Â
My mother only ordered the salad bar (I got it as my salad choice with my entrée) which I will now do in the future.  While 2 people in our party went to town on their prime rib (I hear it's good.  My cousin always orders it) my mother reveled in her all you can eat helpings of veggies and fruit.  She made up the most fabulous looking salads, and all for about $11.  I also like the bread, as they usually have 3 options.
It's fresh. Â
It's yummy. Â
Service is always friendly and there really is something on the menu for everyone.
Bonus points for good iced tea.
