This was a great little place. Â Of course, I've been trying to get here forever because of the history with Buffett, Captain Tony, Tom Corcoran bartending, etc.....
I was expecting a small place, and it was small! Â The bartender was very welcoming and, as the other reviews state, there were free hot dogs and popcorn. Â The bar has a lot of character. Â As with Captain Tony's, the walls tell a story of a different time and a lot of good times and history that's been initiated at this little bar. Â It's very unexpected to see a bar with so much of a story in such a nice hotel but somehow it works. Â The drinks were good and it was nice to pay for a drink and actually get more than a glass of soda as you get at some of the more touristy places on Duval. Â
I think the bar is probably a lot more of an "experience" for those who are Buffett fans, read Tom Corcoran's books (he bartended there when Buffett first came to town in the 70's), or anyone who will see it as more than a dive bar. Â
I will definitely frequent this bar when I make it back to Key West as it's a great place to just sit down and visit and hear some good history.
This place is the perfect place to make friends, stay up all night, and get in trouble. Â
Off the beaten path (terribly hard to find), but so worth it when you arrive. Â The drinks are simple, and the tourists are few. Â Mainly locals make a habit of this place. Â IT is easy to see why. Â The room is filled with treasure hunters maps and stories. Â The popcorn is awesome! Â Although I could have just been hammered. Â Just a great time to saddle up to the bar and see what the locals have to say. Â Ask to play the game. Â I kicked everyones butt last time I was in town.
This is my favorite bar in Key West. It's a tiny place that's hard to find in the middle of the Pier House, but it's amazingly full of local history. It's typically quiet at night and tends to be a haven for locals more than tourists like you'll generally find on Duval.
I love asking the bartenders a little about the history of the place when I'm there. I get a new story every night.
Saddened that this place only has two reviews. Â We were in Key West a few years ago, and we still mention "Hey remember that little bar that was impossible to find in Key West?" Â This place is pretty sweet, and definitely worth finding. Â I truthfully do not like Buffett (sorry) but he apparently got his start here in the corner. Â It's a tiny, dimly lit dive bar, but has cheap beer, interesting locals, and free food. Â How could you possibly dislike this place? Â I unfortunately didn't make it here on my last visit to Key
West, but seriously Yelpers, find this place, buy a beer, and be taken back in time to the supposed sleepy town Key West used to be.
