Totally unimpressed with the menu. The bacon was cheap, evident by its greasy appearance. American comfort food - not done well at all. I suspect the rave reviews this place is getting is from people on a budget without a foodie palate.
Overcooked burgers served, but time the waitress came to ask how everything was, it was 15 minutes since someone else brought our food. So sending it back at lunch wasn't an option. Another order was a club, which arrived on burnt Wonderbread.
I don't plan on returning....EVER.
I had a good time and a good meal here for my first time. I was able to get Bluemoon at a reasonable price (under $4 for a pint). The fish tacos were very big with good amount of fish to slaw ratio. My co-worker had a burger that we were able to split in half. I gave him one of my fish tacos. We were both very pleased with the half pound burger and the fish tacos, all ranging between $6-8. It's a perfect place for teens with limited funds to still get a better meal than fast food and better ambiance, like a casual date. I'll be back next time for sure.
Review Source:The wait in season was reasonable, about 20 minutes. Â We ordered our drinks, waited, waited, until the waiter asked us how it was. Â What the ice tea ? We hadn't gotten our food yet. Another 20 minutes, we got our food (appetizer of chicken tenders and soup with 1/2 sandwich). Chicken was totally cold, soup was cold, sandwich was decent. Not sure what people like about this place. Â We were there without the initial wait to be seated an hour and 15 minutes. Â Menu was ok. Not going back.
Review Source:Cheddar's is by far one of the best restaurants in Fort Myers because of it's food, service, and value. Â
The menu has a huge variety of great food to choose from. Â The prices are extremely reasonable and the food always come out quickly. The service is great, as well! Â The servers are always friendly.
The only drawback is there aren't any call-ahead seating or reservations available. Â However, I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes, even at the height of season.
I would highly recommend Cheddar's to anyone!
Good prices, better food than you might expect from the style of restaurant.
Despite its fancy interior, this is a pretty simple menu with one main thing in mind: good chicken tenders. If you pass those up, you'll probably miss the main draw of the place.
Nothing mind blowing, except, perhaps, the price which always manages to come out above (or technically under,) our expectations.
Since it's in the middle of the tourist haven Gulf Coast Town Center you should expect a wait. The bar is pretty cozy, though, and a decent place to enjoy a quick meal (same menu.)
The tenders are almost always good, in all variants. The tenders and waffles are a bit of a novelty, considering that they are a quite literal translation of a classic soul food dish. Though it seems like chicken and waffles is increasingly ending up in mainstream America's menus (which, when you think about it, was only a matter of time) so I can't really blame the place for trying to capitalize on that-- just sick of hearing "oh my god! chicken and waffles? that's like totally crazy!"
Recommended for a low-price, consistently satisfying but no-frills meal.
We were wary of coming here. Everyone we talked to emphasized the prices (inexpensive) and the wait, and good food was a distant third. I would list the food first, homemade, not nuked. Imagine an Applebee's tastefully decorated and with good food. Avoid the wait and go on Monday evenings, additionally I think the newness is wearing off. The service needs a little work, our waiter was really full of himself. We will return.
Review Source:Finally tried this place in spite of some poor reviews here. Arrived around 3 PM on a Sunday as the lunch crowd was leaving. Got a table after about a 5 minute wait. Our server was prompt and our drinks and food came in acceptable times. Wife's sirloin steak was cooked as ordered and was very good. I helped her finish. It was 8 oz., their smallest; a 6 oz. steak would have been fine. I had the Shepherd's pie. It was OK, but I'd like it a little less watery and more gravy like. We'll give it another try, maybe when we have company next month.
Review Source:If it's not one thing it's another at Cheddar's. (at least the Gulf Coast Town Center location) First time my wife, son and I went it was great. Service was fast, food was yummy and we felt taken care of. This was right when the opened at 11am. Ever since than we went back about 5 times and every time there's always an issue. One issue that is always the same is their lack of kid friendlyness. Sure as a parent we entertain our own kids, but when choosing a restaurant we tend to go to the ones that our son can have fun being at and is well taken care of. Not the case at Cheddar's. No special kids menu to color, the staff hardly acknowledges him (he's cute as button com'on) they put us a tables where his high chair is always in the way and one time we went with our friends who also have a little one and they decided to stick us in a booth... with one open side... two high chairs, one side of the table. Those who have kids know where I'm going. Meanwhile, behind us was a table plenty large for us. "it's for a party of nine" explained the hostess. We expect nine large people... nope, 2 parents and a bunch of kids... little kids... the kind that fit nicely in a the oversized booths with ONE on the end. So whatever, they don't care for kids. Let's get to the SERVICE... Always super fast to take your order, but super slow to deliver.Have to ask for a refill (really?) I've been to fast food restaurants and had refills offered much quicker. Today we went for lunch and after waiting for 10 minutes for the server to process our card she comes back and tells me they had trouble with their printer (probably out of paper) so I look at my account they swiped my card 3 times... Needless to say, the food is ok, i've tried something new literally every time and anything with chicken tastes EXACTLY the same. We will not be returning... at least not for some time when we forget about our horrible experiences. I hate the olive garden, but cheddars make the OG look like fine dinning. Childless whipper snappers, go have a good time. The food is cheap (you get what you pay for) and plentiful. Parents, treat your kids some chik-fil-a. Same price, but you feel like a king or try tropical smoothie, they have great food there too!
Review Source:In town to visit family over the holiday and they wanted to eat here so my wife and I agreed. Checked out Yelp (as always) beforehand and started to get nervous.
Very crowded, due to the holidays. Found a few seats around the bar while waiting for our group. We had an hour long wait. The service was a little slow, with 10 minutes passing before and order was taken and another 10 to get drinks to the table. About 45 minutes in, we saw a table open up, and asked if we could have it and they said yes (which was very nice).
The food was pretty average. Salads were a good size, but nothing special. I had a burger that was passable, bit nothing to get overly excited about. The rest of the table shared the same views - safe, passable but nothing really all that exciting.
In the end this is a middle of the road place, which should be expected for Ft. Myers (I guess). If you want 'safe' this is a good place to go.
I'd give it 0 stars if I could. We had a party of 8. There were numerous menu items sold out. Our entrees came in about 10-15 minute intervals so every thing was cold by the time we received all of our food. Most of which also arrived completely wrong. Will never go back. Waitress just blamed the kitchen. The manager gave no apologies when she finally brought out the last order nearly 30 minutes after the 1st order arrived.
Review Source:Food isn't too bad. I really like that the prices are pretty low, especially the alcoholic drinks. However, service at the bar is hit-or-miss. One bartender, Katie, is awesome, very attentive. But I have also sat in the area of another bartender who either is a horrible server or racist. She is a young blonde, probably in her 20s. Both times that I've sat in her area, I've had to wait at least 5 minutes to even be acknowledged. I went on a Thursday night and a Friday night so of course service will be a bit busy but for her to not even say, "I'm sorry I'll be right with you" or to at least hand me a menu? I got fed up on my second visit after sitting for at least five minutes without a word from her and left the restaurant. The next time that I see her at the bar, I will sit on the other side, maybe even wait until the other bartender(s) are available. I refuse to be served by that woman from now on.
Review Source:Just ate at restaurant. It was okay. We had the chicken Alfredo - which was spicy. Don't remember it saying "spicy or Cajun" on the menu. Â My wife ordered chicken and shrimp plus 2 sides. She ordered broccoli and cole slaw, but they did not have any cole slaw. We ended up with a baked potatoes to go. Overall food was good, but service needed a little help. We were never asked if we needed other drinks, etcs...
Review Source:Tasty comfort food; I enjoyed the shepard's pie a great deal, and my wife's chicken fingers were well-done. Everything seemed to be made from scratch, exactly as the menu promised.
Service was a little inconsistent -- our waitress indicated that this was the first time she'd worked at a restaurant, and for some reason they seemed to have her in the busiest section (including a party of 8 that had some very demanding women who seemed to take pleasure in making insanely complex orders sitting next to us).. So I can't really fault her for being a bit overwhelmed; she was spread too thin.
Overall, worth coming back to.
OKAY, OKAY, I admit it! My first review was a bit overly exuberant. After seeing so many weak reviews, I thought we'd better go back and check it out again.
For starters, I ordered a Cabernet from our waitperson. She said: "Is that a red or white wine?" We're not off to a great start here.
We started with the Crescent City Shrimp & Crab Dip, which the Menu said had "generous portion of crab." Well, it was entirely FAKE crab.
For dinner we had the New Orleans Pasta which was okay, but the noodles were limp and way over-cooked. The other dish, Grilled Tilapia with Mango Salsa, was okay.
Sorry, but a downgrade was definitely in order. The early high attention to service and quality that we perceived on the first visit was just not there the second time.
Next time we need to eat at Gulf Coast Town Center we'll probably go over to Connor's instead.
Decided to try Cheddar's since it is new to the area and it was my friend's birthday. Â
When we got there the parking lot was full and there were people waiting outside. Considering the number of folks outside I was was pleasantly surprised to be told only a 15-20 min wait.
When our table was ready a nice young lady took us to our table asking us if we had been to Cheddar's before. That point of contact was unfortunately the high point of the service we got. We waited 8 min before the waitress ran by and said I'll be right with you.
She finally arrived, we ordered drinks ,apps, and entrees since we had so much time to review the menu. Drinks came, we asked for more Sweet n Low. Put it this way-we're still waiting on that Sweet n Low. For appetizers my friend ordered the chicken tortilla soup and I ordered the onion rings. The waitress asked my friend if he wanted his soup before his meal. I said yes please bring the two appetizers together before the meal. She agreed. About 5 min later she was bringing the soup and said your onion rings will be out shortly. Wait. Wait some more. Wait even more. Wait yet even more. 30 min later she came by and asked if we wanted more drinks. We said yes and I told her to cancel the onion rings. She asked why because it would be out in a minute and I told her because the point was made to bring the  apps together so one wasn't watching the other eat. 10 min later she came back by to say  our entrees would be out shortly. Laughingly, while she was at our table a runner brought the onion rings even though she had allegedly cancelled them. Note that they arrived 10 min after she said they would be out in a minute. A total of 40 minutes for one appetizer.
Entrees were acceptable though my steak was over cooked but I was so hungry by then I was like screw it. My friend asked for some Heinz 57 sauce but the waitress had to ask what Heinz 57 sauce was. When told it was steak sauce she said oh that's A1. I will say, the French fries were tasty, not overly salted and fried well.
After we were through with entrees she came by and asked if we wanted dessert. I said I didn't but maybe my friend did since it was his birthday. She said "well we don't sing so that's not happening." Â Personally since he only wanted one of the 99 cent "just a taste" Â desserts I think for the poor service and wait time she could have gone the route of offering that on the house as a way to say sorry your experience wasn't up to par and that would have spoke volumes. NOPE. Â Guess she could care less.
In closing I spoke to the kitchen manager or Culinary manager as His card states on the way out. For someone who is a manager he said "oh wow that's unacceptable" or "oh wow that shouldn't have happened" at least 6 or 7 times during our convo. Please give us another try with a couple apps on me next time. He acted like he was shocked at the experience we had. Â Perhaps he should join Yelp and read the reviews.
Haven't decided if its worth the time to give them a second shot. Â I will know hoever to make sure I have a big lunch that day since I will probably have to waqit for dinner ...
Just came back from the GCTC location.
This was our 2nd attempt and after our first visit I wasn't thrilled with returning so soon.
First we had my wife's 2 small niece and nephew with us, along with my stepdaughter. There was a bit of a wait but the Hostess explained she had a table coming right up as we do not like booths.
We waited outside for maybe 10 minutes and our buzzer goes off.
As soon as we get inside, we are told by the Hostess's boss there was a mistake and we can't have the table. (Someone waiting longer than we did complained and wanted to be seated first, which makes sense)
We get seated in the back, nice family style butcher block table.
Our waiter Glenn was prompt to the table, but that is the last compliment we have.
My stepdaughter asked immediately if they had Shepard's Pie, as it was sold out on our 1st visit.
She was told it was so she was very happy and we all placed our order.
I do like the potato soup..very good and I suggest you try it. Don't ask for extra crackers though because according to Glenn, they didn't have any. (Translated to oh dang I forgot them)
We waited perhaps 20 plus minutes when Glenn came back to inform us in fact there was no Shepard's pie. Â
We were all kind of miffed, but she ordered a pot roast instead.
After another 15 minutes or longer here comes her pot roast.
No other entree, not the kids dinners.. Squat..zip.
We spoke with the manager who apologized and promised our food would be right up
It was delivered soon. Cold and missing croissants as ordered, extra marinara sauce for her niece.
Couple this with a few dirty forks, a dirty glass and terrible service..I won't be back a 3rd time.
Yes the $ is very reasonable and they are probably in process of weeding out the bad hires (100% college kids I'd say) but I can't see going back with so many other decent food options at GCTC.
I must say we were pleasantly surprised with service and food. YES service could step it up a few notches but they are NEW..judging by the 2 table sections last night someone has been reading the reviews that the service is bad.
Loved the onion rings!! The ribs were a little on the spicy side but very tender and moist. Grilled shrimp I would say NO on as it was not that good but everything else was great especially for the price!!
We will definitely go back when they settle in a little more. I did have to laugh that they had 4 bartenders on and it took a while to get my beer BUT like I said they are new and training.
Very nice, modern decor inside. There were lots of people, considering it was a Monday during lunch. Obviously everyone in the area is heading there to try it out. We were seated immediately despite the crowds. Our server arrived within 5 minutes to take our drink order. Then it was another 10 minutes to get our drinks (water and sodas). She brought over our soup and salad first. The Caesar salad was lettuce, croutons and cheese. No dressing of any sort on it. No problem, we told our waitress and she brought some over within 5 minutes. Then it was more waiting for our food. When it arrived, my chicken fried steak was missing the key ingredient. Gravy. No problem, told the waitress and after another 5 minutes I had my gravy. The good thing about having all this free time while eating is we got to observe at least 3 other tables experience the lack of dressing with their salads (not just Caesar salads).
If you want to try this place out, wait wait wait. They are definitely still learning how to operate efficiently and smoothly (and how to serve foods on their menu properly). It took us (a party of 2 with 2 orders - no appetizers or desserts) 70 minutes from the time we sat down to the time we got up to leave. We probably shaved off 5 minutes by having our credit hard in hand before we got our check.
Food was slightly better than average and the prices very reasonable. I would go back and give them another try but probably after a few months.
ok...hearing about the new place open at GCTC...we stopped in for lunch
inside is nice..we were seated right away...
food is nicely priced ..such as a large plate of onion rings for 4$
food was good..
but yes service isnt  clicking yet...
so maybe after a while and they get the service worked out ...
Sat down to a dirty table. waited. waited. waited some more. finally our server came to take our drink order, we gave her our drink and appetizer order and I asked for her to put in my daughter's meal as well since at this point we'd been waiting 25 minutes. App and kid's meal came our...where's our drinks? The food runner told me I'd have to ask someone else because he wasn't our server. REALLY?! Waited a while longer for our server to finally come back and take our food order. My daughter was done eating now and ready to go. Probably at this point we'd been there for an hour.
The Spanganza bites are amazing though...fried spaghetti and cheese. SO GOOD!
Back to the terrible service. waited another 30 minutes for our food. Mine came out cold. As if it had been sitting for a while. Cold fried shrimp = gross. Cold mashed potatoes = gross.
I decided to order the monster cookie for dessert. it said on the menu to allow a few extra minutes for this which in Cheddar speak means 35. YES 35 minutes we sat and waited. My friend joked "what are you gonna get for dinner?" Finally we walked out. We had already paid of course.
The management walks in an out of rooms, glances around, and walk back out. Â They have to know the service if the worst anyone's ever received and they really don't care. I spoke to a manager after the meal and he took my receipt in exchange for his business card with "free app and entree" scrawled on it. Nice strategy not to get those bad surveys to corporate I guess.
My advice: Skip it. The service is terrible, the foods not that great, and management doesn't give an F.
I know it's a new place and I plan to go back since my meal was actually pretty good, but they really have a lot of issues service wise to sort out. Got there on a Monday night around 7:30 and it was packed. Ended up sitting at the bar and had to wait a few minutes for them to clear off the pile of plates and glasses from the previous customer and then had to ask if they could wipe the bar down since it was covered in some kind of sticky goo that I couldn't define. A sopping wet rag left a small lake of water behind that I cleaned up with a napkin. During this time it is complete and total chaos behind the bar. There was no way this was the "A" team working because while they were trying very hard to keep up with all the drink orders and customers at the bar, it was comical all the mistakes that were being made. Wrong drink mixes, wrong dressing for salads, serving a Pinot Grigio instead of Pinot Noir. Apologies flowed   from the staff's mouths like water over Niagra Falls. I ordered a bottled beer just to be safe and had to tackle one of the bartenders to place a food order. I ordered the country fried chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans, Texas toast and gravy on the side. The reason I ordered this was because there are no sides choices to get wrong and I like a fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I sat back and continued to watch the show. Every now and then, a manager type person, at least I assumed they were management by their different apparel, would pop in, bark out some type of command or comment and then pop out. Word to management.....roll up your sleeves and dig in when the fur is flying because they really could have used some help. Great entertainment to be sure. My food showed up in a reasonable amount of time and while there was a small cup of gravy on the side, they had splashed gravy on the chicken. No biggie as I would have probably poured a similar amount on it myself, but on the side means just that...right? Anyway, here's the surprise....the food was delicious. Piping hot and very flavorful. The two big pieces of chicken had a perfect crust on them and were fork tender, moist and wonderful. The mashed potatoes were delicious and while the green beans were a touch overdone, still had phenomenal flavor. This meal was only $8.99! I'm a big eater and I just barely finished it. The food will make me come back and try Cheddars again just too see if the food stays consistent, because I can overlook subpar service for this type of meal and at their more than fair prices.
