This was our first time dining at Cheeky.  I had the taco trio plate with a side of charros and rice.  The tacos I chose included the shrimp, sweet chili fish, and steak, all of which were on the soft corn tortillas.  Each was pretty tasty, but my favorite was the sweet chili fish.  It was out of this world!  The only negative thing I have to say about the soft corn tortillas at Cheeky - they almost instantly fell to pieces.  I ended up eating two of the tacos with a knife and fork.  Not the end of the world but it would have been nice if the tortillas had stayed together.  The charros were absolutely fantastic.  Hands down the best charros I've had anywhere.  The rice - well, it's rice.  My wife had the house margarita.  It looked good in the glass, but she said it had very little alcohol in it.  Next time I want to try the habanero margarita... Overall, good experience and would recommend.

Great tacos. Black and blue & crab cake are the two I got and were amazing. To go service was great, everything packed well and ready when told.

Love love love Cheeky! I have been going here for months now and always sit at the bar with the awesome bartender Nicole. I love their fresh margaritas ( Mango is my favorite! ) and their queso dip. The tacos are pretty good but could definitely be a little better. The fish taco with the spicy tartar is definitely the best!! Between the great service, great margaritas and good food, Cheeky is definitely a win in my eyes!!

I used to travel 240+ days a year and the only amazing Churrassco Steak I could find was in South Beach.  I have searched for YEARS for another place that has it.

Hands down this place beat the South Beach restaurant.  My office mate and I have eaten there a dozen times in the past month.

Fat Man Says "This is a great place"

They changed the menu and now the place SUCKS.

Cheeky is one of my favorite restaurants in Suwanee.  I have been eating here for over three years now, and this place is right on the money.  Yes, it gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but what place worth anything isn't?

They have a taco and a margarita of the month which always adds to the flare of the place.  I've eaten here many times - usually I get the tacos they have on the top/front of the menu.  Most of them are $2-$3.  How can you not enjoy those?  My favorites: the BLT taco (made with jalapeno bacon), the southern fried chicken taco, and the Buffalo chicken taco.

The queso is a must have.  We usually get it without the peppers in it, but to each, his own.

One of the best attractions to Cheeky is that they have tap tables with the beer tap right there.  You're able to pour more when you want it.  They have started to limit the amount of ounces each table can purchase - it's based on how many people are there.  But, if you're a good group, they will sometimes let you have more.  I'd like to see other beers work their way in to the tap table mix.  Right now they only have two: Dos Equis amber and lager.

If you're looking for a great meal, go to Cheeky.

I'm typically not one to let one a single dish pull a place down, I mean heck, everyone has a bad day, but holy cow...I ordered the empenadas (which, on a side note, I've never had anywhere ever before).  They got to the table looking good enough but when I stabbed (or tried to stab) my fork into them the filling had been so overcooked that it was rock solid...ROCK SOLID!!!

Response to my concern was very good...immediate replacement with steak tacos and a comp of my meal but it scares me 1) what they had to do to those poor things to screw them up so bad and 2) that they felt confident in serving them.

I'll be back, I've had too many good times there not to go back and I'll update this after my next trip.

Wow. I don't think I could have had a worse experience here if the wait staff had been trying to make us miserable.  My partner and I noticed this place while we were on our way to kayak on lake Lanier.  After getting off the lake I am always starving, so pretty much anything is going to make me happy.  We decided to give Cheeky a try - at 3:00 on a Sunday it was not super busy, and the menu looked appealing.

We decided to sit out on the patio since it was such a lovely day - this turned out to be a mistake since the fire alarm at the chick-fil-a across the street kept going off, and the table of women with babies next to us was extremely loud and drunken and obnoxious the whole time.  I don't hold either of these things against the restaurant (though why they seated us directly next to a rambunctious table when there was literally no one else on the patio is beyond me) but it did set the mood.

We ordered 2 tacos each and an appetizer of rare tuna on plantain slices.  The tacos took a little longer than average to come out, no biggie, but the appetizer didn't come out until 10 minutes after the tacos.  Kind of missing the point of an appetizer.  The tuna was metallic-tasting and seasoned in such a way that it did not complement the plantains at all.  The flavors clashed really horribly - we each tried one bite... then tried the ingredients separately... and discovered it wasn't even edible in parts.  So there was $8 down the drain.  For tacos, I ordered pork and crab fritters, and he ordered a steak and a BLT.  The crab fritters were awful - fishy and completely not fresh.  The pork tasted like nothing - I don't know if they forgot to put seasoning on it, or what, but it was basically like chewing on a taco full of paper.  The beef was fine, and the BLT with jalapeno mayo was the tastiest of the bunch, but kind of insubstantial.

And then it was time to pay.  So we waited.  And we waited.  Aaaand we waited.   We asked a waitress from the next table over to ask ours to come out.  Then we waited some more.  After 20 minutes I went inside to try to find someone to give my money to.  I was able to give my card to another waitress who said she'd get ours to run it.  Then we waited another 15 minutes.  I walked back inside to try and figure out WTF was going on, and ran into waitress number 3 who was able to return my card and stammer something about our waitress "trying to cash out a party of 30" - which is a pretty funny excuse since there was basically no one else in the restaurant (saying it was 10% full would be generous).  And even if she were dealing with a party that big, there  were obviously at least 4 other waitresses who could have spared 10 seconds to swipe a credit card.

So that's that.  Half our food was so bad it was inedible, and the service was beyond abysmal. Do yourself a favor and don't stop at Cheeky Taqueria.

Love what they've done to the patio! Can sit out in almost all weather! Quick service, ample food, good prices. Family friendly and caters to the biker crowd. Inside can get noisy when full because of all the hard surfaces and high ceiling. A local favorite.

Cheeky doesn't present itself as a typical Mexican-style joint; it has a sort of stainless-steel quasi-industrial vibe going on. Nothing too overwrought, but nothing stereotypically "Mexican joint" about it. This really doesn't affect one's experience there so much, but when I hear the word "taquiera," I imagine something other than what Cheeky is. Just had to get that out.

The high-top tables seem to offer a sort of pour-your-own-beer with a flow meter, which is pretty novel. I've never sat at the high-tops, but this is worth knowing about if you're into novelty, although currently only a couple of Dos Equis brews are available at the tap-tables. There's a greater selection of about 25 brews in bottles, though nothing particularly exotic. It's a serviceable list, though.

You'll get free chips and salsa when you're seated, and Cheeky has amongst the best salsa I can remember as part of a "free chips and salsa." Personally, I like my salsa blended a bit--some places basically serve pico de gallo with their chips, which I think is a suboptimal match for tortilla chips. The salsa has a nice hot tang to it, too. If you don't have a heat-resistant mouth, it may actually be too much for you: my stepmother--who has very little tolerance for spiciness in food--was not able to eat much of the salsa.

I like to do the three-tacos-with-a-side-of-beans-and-rice combo. The refried beans are vegetarian, in case that matters to you. I'm pescetarian, so I've asked about this. Alternatively, you can opt for whole pinto or black beans. There are plenty of taco options, including various pescetarian options: last time I was there, I had a shrimp taco, a fish taco (it's battered and fried), and one I'd never seen before--a crab cake taco, which was particularly good.

Service is provided mainly by what I suspect are neighborhood teens, and is neither here nor there. It's been moderately friendly and good enough, though you'll find no career servers here--as well you shouldn't.

If I didn't have family that lived less than a mile from here, I probably wouldn't make a special visit from downtown to dine at Cheeky, but if you're in the hood, it's a fine, no-fuss, reasonably priced option. Check out Cheeky, you cheeky monkey.

cute, cute, cute.  good fish tacos, good appetizers, love the beer-tap tables.  great selection of tequilas & house-made (not mix) margaritas - skinny version is interesting, like that it's not cloyingly sweet, but it's superfluous here since they're all from scratch and therefore the sugar content on any selection can be adjusted to your taste.  i do think they use MSG in some of the dishes, so beware & ask first if you have a problem with MSG.  pork on the taco trio is YUMMY.

Great little place for Mexican. Staff is younger & hip, the place is open & trendy. Get there & grab a high top, pour your own tab beer. Keep score & compete with neighboring table if you like.

The service has always been great and friendly. If sitting at the bar
Be sure to ask for Nicole, Nick or Moussa, they won't disappoint.

They offer a good selection selection as well and it's reasonable price. Don't see it on the menu
Ask for it anyway, allot of times they will make it for you. I recommend
The steamed calamari tacos or quesdilla, neither is on the menu though.

Food aside, (because I didn't have any) - The beer setup in this joint is pretty awesome!  Beer taps at the table?  A beer card so I can go up and get a different beer from a wall tap?  As a man who loves beer, this is great!

Your server basically walks around with an iTouch and comes to your table to "activate" your tap.  Your table is then given a card that can be used at a wall to "activate" that tap so you can let the beer flow!

Check it out, have a drink - and enjoy the novelty.

Tap at the table, while fun sounding, can be a waste as you can have the tap keep leaking, a lot, after you stop it. You pay by the ounce.  Stupid idea.  Let the bartender waste the beer.  Came just before crowd time so we could get a tap table.  Just in time.  I don't understand people sitting at these few tap tables while drinking mixed drinks or wine and no beer at all, especially when other tables are available and this place is known for the tap tables.  Selfish.  Salsa was great. Guacamole, meh.  I've had much better.

NOT a fan.  I can't blame the screaming kids on the restaurant itself, but I can blame Cheeky for inattentive servers (getting water for our table took longer than it did to eat our appetizers), gross sticky floors, and mediocre food.  The guac was alright, but the chips were stale and the tacos and enchiladas tasted pre-made and reheated.  I'll stick with Cinco.

Here once for lunch; good stuff! Sampled a few tacos, chips were good as well.

Friendly service, clean, decor reminded me of a Moe's. Prefer a few Baha style Mexican places around Atlanta, but if in Suwanee I'll probably visit Cheeky again.

The atmosphere has a true industrial vibe with the exposed steel & modern decorations. The overall feel of this place could easily place it as a in-town eatery which makes it a stand out in Suwanee. Loved the food and loved the look the only thing I would complain about would be the service it's as slow as Christmas. If it's a nice day be sure to take advantage of the patio.

I had been here about a year ago and remembered it being decent. Decided to go to Cheeky at the last minute with my family since it was right around the corner. Baaad idea. Overall, here is what my family and I thought:

    *Pros:
    Salsa was GREAT!
    Veggie hard taco
    Chicken Quesadilla. Nothing extraordinary though.
Our server Taylor was very attentive and friendly.

    *Cons:
    The restaurant smelled like smoke
Guacamole was ridiculously bland and did not taste fresh. Don't get this.
Crab cake taco (TINY piece of fried lump crab & did not care for the slaw or the pineapple salsa)
Veggie enchilada (bland and it came with refried beans that resembled SOUP)
    Poor dessert options

Bottom line: In Suwanee, Frontera wins!

I had a fantastic steak burrito. Lean and tasty. Great service. Good for families.

My only complaints -- they do not offer non-alcoholic beer, and it can get very noisy (lots of concrete).

It's been a while since I have eaten here for the firs time but I went back last night and met a few friends.

What I had of the food was good.  I had the steak and chicken fajitas and they were tasty.  The meat was tender and juicy and the onions were well cooked and starting the caramelize.

We got to sit at one of the 6 tables that have a beer tap at the table.  This is a novel idea and of course, we took full advantage of it.

I still like Frontera better overall but this place is a decent alternative.

Went to check out this place just because of the pour your own idea. But it only had like 6 tables with taps in the whole place? Big come on, since you have to wait for a table too long. Good deal at .25 cents an once, just go on an OFF time . Ohhhh, we went to drink, the food was looking non-impressive... Lol

Still on my quest for a good Mexican restaraunt I went here to meet up with a friend since it was halfway in between both of our houses. Pretty good selection of food, but definitely not traditional Mex. The chips and salsa were great, my veggie burrito was mediocre. Her tacos were tiny. I'll probably go back but not if I want real Mex!! Service was really good though I do have to say that.

Granted, this isn't the best mexican taco joint in the world.  However, it is good and affordable.  I haven't tried everything on the menu yet, but what I have tried is pretty tasty.

I got a taco sampler shrimp, fish, and beef, i didnt not like any of them! Im not kiddng when i say that there were literally 2 pcs of shrimp on my taco and the sauce was just too sweet and flavorless. I'll never go to this place ever again! blehhh!

I have been to Cheeky a couple of times and I love it! The fish tacos are amazing and I adore that they have taps on some of the tables. The times I have been are around 7pm and it is busy, but not too busy to get good service. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and it's a great place to get some friends together for a happy hour or evening dinner and cocktails. It is definitely a favorite of mine.

Have been there a handful of times and have loved it so far. The food is great! The bar and outside deck areas are beautiful at night! It is just a great place to go! Prices are reasonable and there are food choices for everyone. The crab taco and shrimp taco are the best! It is a definite try!

This place has become a regular mexican food place on my list. Crab Cake Tacos are amazing- lots of flavors bursting in your mouth. Prefer the blended margaritas - too many to chose from... and the burrito is amazing- something about the cheese.
I will note, it seem management has changed a bit since I first visited- menus look a little different- food is still good though not as good as the first time. I was able to watch the tour de france there last year though without sound- but I will say they were nice to put it on for us - its not a 'sports bar'.

Have two experiences with Cheeky. First was a 4 star experience. We went off peak around 9pm - the place was almost empty. The bartender came over and chatted with us, super friendly, explained the menu. The manager brought us a complimentary delicious appetizer and the dos xx beer was cold and great out of the table tap. Food was fresh and while certainly not the best mexican in Atlanta, it was very good and full of flavor. So much fun we decided to return a few days later...

This second time was during peak dinner hour. The place was slammed with pre-teen kids without parents (looked like they got dropped off from the nearby neighborhood) and they were running around like pre-teen kids do. Unfortunately, this is Cheeky -a bar- not chuckie cheese. We got a tap table, but amazingly the taps were not functioning. We could not get any service (the place was slammed) and follow-up for even a beer required me to go to the bar. The food that eventually came out 45 mintues later was only so-so quality.  I could not beleive we were in the same place and we vowed not to return during peak times. My first experience, I was a fan - my second I would have given 1-1/2 stars.

So, it's a little bit out of my way, but I went with friends who lived nearby.
First, the food is very good. I had the vegetable burrito and it was AMAZING! With the Prickly Pear margarita (very well made, thank you bartender), I had no complaints about the meal. There were very interesting tacos available, and tables with beer on tap (no need to call the waiter for a refill).
The waiter was very attentive -- glasses were never empty, and he checked on us, but didn't hover like some annoying waiters sometimes do.
Honestly, if you live around the corner, I would definitely check this place out. But, if you are coming up 400 North (like me), do yourself a favor and stop at Pure in Alpharetta. It's not as far, and although I hate to say it because I enjoyed Cheeky, it's soooo much better.

Cool interesting taco choices and lots of margarita varieties. The beer on tap at the table is a hit with my hubby - they post your "progress" on a TV screen so you can compare your beer consumption with other tables. He and the guys like to compete with other tables - so of course I have to drive home! Cool concept and fun place to hang with friends. AND- you never have to wait for someone to refill your beer!

Great fresh food for a decent price, served in a hip urban environment that belies its strip mall exterior. Not the usual Southwestern Tex-Mex you see all over the place. Very friendly and attentive staff.

went for a last minute good-bye gathering for a good friend.  Skeptical at first, but ultimately pleased.  The Salsa was some of the best that I and my VERY PICKY husband have had.  The dishes were not the typical mexican fare, but I had a grilled chicken burrito with a side of guac.  The guac was very, very tasty.  My husband had the Beef mexican wrap which he said was also very good.  Don't know that I would take the kids back, but we enjoyed it.

My wife and I love to use a coupon. Saving money and checking out a restaurant for the first time is a real adventure- usually. This time was one of those "I wish I hadn't gone there" deals. The staff were indifferent, the food was way trendy, and the yuppie kids running around unrestrained by their preppy parents made for an evening from hell. Warm sour cream, warm and muddy guacamole, and cold tacos and enchiladas were the crowning jewels for a waste of 26 bucks (including coupon!) "Never say 'Never'"? This 'never' will stick. I'll never go there again.

Cheeky is different and not your normal mexican taqueria.  The tacos are very very good and unique.  I am a big fan of the crab cake tacos... but for the price I wish they filled you up better.  They used to have barbacoa tacos and they were to die for... but not enough people ordered them and they took them off the menu.  I haven't been going as often since they got rid of them.  Another cool thing about Cheeky is the Dos XX beer on tap - right at your table.  Help yourself to a pint that you pour yourself.  They measure the keg when you're done and charge you by the ounce.

They have a huge patio too, right off the bar.  This place will be a great hangout in the summer or on Cinco de Mayo.

my wife and i are regulars here. this is not your average cookie cutter mexican restaurant, they have a lot of unique mexican dishes.
the tacos are the standout here. they are simple soft corn tortillas with meat, onions, cilantro and salsa. they also give you a lot of salsa choices.
also the bar area has it set up where you can pour your own beer (dos equis lager) and just pay for what you drank.
