this is the best Chinese food we have ever had in the metro area, and would compare w/ the best in NYC and the West Coast.
I've been there twice so far, and will definitely go back. The dishes are authentic, the food is fresh and the presentation beautiful. We had the whole fish w/ the tomato sauce-fabulous. Both meat dishes and vegetable selections are tasty. Though the Schezuan food can be spicy, various levels of spice can be requested.
This is the BEST in town-we won't be going anywhere else from now on.
My entire family had a great experience at Chef Liu's. The service was polite and prompt. The food (off the Chinese menu) was authentic and delicious.
If you're an American that goes to Chinese restaurants and complains about the egg drop soup and sesame chicken, I would suggest you either make some Chinese friends that can introduce you to new dishes or make an effort to engage the wait staff on their Chinese menu offerings. Seriously, if you're going to Chef Liu's for lo mein, why don't you just go to some Chinese fast food dive instead?
I'm SO happy I finally tried this place. Since I've moved to Aurora I've been underwhelmed by the restaurants. I typically don't crave Chinese food because so much of it is fried, drowning in sauce, and tastes more like dessert then dinner. But I definitely crave Chef Liu's. Every thing is perfectly seasoned, has lots of fresh veggies and herbs, and is perfectly cooked. Both times we have been there we were the only non-asian people there. The staff is always friendly and responsive and the food always comes out fast. The first time we went we ordered scallops with veggies and a pork belly dish. Both were excellent. The second time we had pork pot stickers that were very good and then the numbing beef in chili oil and the lamb with cumin. My husband loved the numbing chili oil dish, I liked it but I didn't love it. The lamb was good but I prefer the pork belly dish. I definitely plan on making it a regular, go-to place, and hope that it stays around for a long time.
